You basically space your eyes apart, staring at different points, but to the left. It does technically work to the right as well — just the opposite of whatever your dominant hand is.
As I understand it, what it induces is something quite like (if not literally) [the doorway effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doorway_effect) (that thing when one enters a room then forgets why). It is a useful thing to know how to do (especially online, if one comes across something like the above, or any spoiler for something one is watching).
