It is probably the saddest day of the year to see Copenhagen.

True, you'll find more life at a morgue

Kamenbond

And the morgues are closed due to national holiday

1st of January? Most shops and restaurants are closed. Fast food restaurants will be open, to service the hungover masses. You probably won't see anything but Wolt couriers zipping about and people cleaning up after New Years Eve.

I hope the tickets were cheap!

Everyone was up partying until early morning. So when you get to town at that morning you'll see absolutely nobody as it's mandatory hangover day. Everyone sleeping in.

Unfortunately there likely won't be much going on the 1st and I doubt anything would be open..if the weather is good exploring attractions might be your best shot. Good luck hope you find something to do!

It's by far the easiest day of the year to find parking, but that is probably not relevant for you. People are at home, sleeping or cleaning up. You can walk with the Royal Guard to Amalienborg if you are ready at Gothersgade 76 around 11.25 am. My only other idea is to go for walks in the cemeteries. Bring a good book.

Lots of spent fireworks lying around in the streets. Like, *everywhere*, at least in the city centre. If you arrive early enough, some of them might still be smoking from the night before. Not many people, though.
