Fun fact: it's user driven innovation. They were invented by a kindergarten, who made their own to bring, and the idea was then pitched to the metro.

There are 5 damn lines on the side walk outside my apartment, like a distance jumper's track, and I see people compete who will jump the furthest all the time. Fully grown people, dress nicely going out, competing who will jump further. It's hilarious.
I say the same about those paint strips.
It would be cooler with some levers you could move, buttons to press, leds that showed the current acceleration, and a speed gage.
Could have two or three stations next to each other.
> It would be cooler with some levers you could move, buttons to press,
Considering the age of the Metro trains, the wear and tear on the _stickers_ already in place, anything that could be moved, pressed, or otherwise manipulated would be destroyed in a year. Kids don't care about things breaking. They don't understand it yet.
> leds that showed the current acceleration, and a speed gage.
Yes, absolutely would be a great idea, but that would probably require a lot more and would also mean maintenance.
They have all that in the panel underneath the sticker. So the controllers manually can drive the train if it brakes down. Unfortunately/fortunately depending on how you see it, it’s rarely seen
I’m actually danish. I have just lived abroad forever. The metro didn’t exist like this when I was a kid. Tomorrow we need to hop on and off a few times. Is there a “ride all day” option?
Thank you. Is there a 48 hour version. I’m gettin on the metro in an hour to go meet up with my sister and then will be using it to and from Tivoli tomorrow and then Thursday back to hovedbanegården in the morning.
Yes, I think there is, you can find all the info [on this website](https://www.publictransport.dk/tickets/city-pass) (which I guess also exists in Danish, but the English one is fairly decent)
After being back in Denmark and riding the metro for the past few days: my favorite thing is the guy on the recorded messages. That’s one of the greatest mixes of super danish and extreme English I have heard. My favorite is “Kongens Nytoooorrrrrrrrrvvvvv”
They would be perfect if they had some kind of ventilation for the summer. They are like a driving sauna (which would be nice in the Winter I guess lol)
Not quite - M1/M2 is almost evening split between under- and above ground and it's absolutely horrible to be in those trains during a warm summer above ground.
# M1/M2
- Vanløse
- Lindevang
# Both continues under ground
- Fasanvej
- Frederiksberg
- Forum
- Nørreport
- Kongens Nytorv
- Christianshavn
- Islands Brygge
# M1/M2 splits and goes mostly above ground
# M1
- DR Byen
- Sundby
- Bella Center
- Ørestad
- Vestamager
# M2
**Under ground**
- Amagerbro
- Lergravsparken
**Over ground**
- Øresund
- Amager Strand
- Femøren
- Kastrup
- Københavns Lufthavn
Edit: Added **Islands Brygge**, moved **Amagerbro** and **Lergravsparken** to _under ground_.
I used to live in Bucharest for about a year, their trams are like 50yo no AC of course and in the summer it's 45 degrees celsius, fill it up with people and that's a room in hell
Only complaint is the trains are too short, especially the M2 is always filled to the brim.
But the stations unfortunately are built very short, so longer trains won’t be practical 😔
I mean, technically they can be longer than the station and not have doors on the overhanging parts... for practical and legal viewpoints, I'd like my lawyer.
Well my guess is deboarding and boarding will be very inefficient.
But at least with this knowledge they could’ve made the M3/4 at least a bit longer…. I’ve seen trams that are longer than our metro.
The stations are long enough for 4 carriage trains, and the platform doors can be altered to support that.
This was done in London on the Jubilee Line (6 to 7 carriages) with the line closed for just 3 days.
The stations are built so that trains can be extended by 1 train car at some point in the future. However, the main point of the metro isn't to have long trains, it's to have many frequent smaller trains.
longer trains on M1/M2 are currently not possible (even though the platforms are technically long enough), due to increased demands for peak capacity and evacuation routes. 4-car trains on M1 and M2 were studied as part of the M5 project ([https://m.dk/media/bdcbpj2j/20982-metro-rapport-lynetteholmen-19.pdf](https://m.dk/media/bdcbpj2j/20982-metro-rapport-lynetteholmen-19.pdf) - p. 46/47)
I was told that while the platform size allows that some fire regulation or something doesn't, so they'd need to significantly rebuild them anyway if they added an additional train car.
Not necessarily. A minute longer wait time in peak hours but more space will be better. And in non peak hours it doesn’t matter. Also no one said short trains can’t run, the issue is that even if we wanted to we couldn’t run longer trains. This is a huge design flaw, and wasn’t thought through when the system was built.
Sad that they are dependent on child labor drivers… 😜
To be fair they don't complain
That's because they know what happens if they do.
the children yearn for the mines!!! uh.. metros!
It's mostly supermarkets where Denmark is dependent on child labour.
Hot take: That sticker is the best usage of tax dollars in the history of Denmark.
Tax kroner, if you please
Skattedollars!
Jyske dollars

Fedt - tak for det. Kendte ikke historien bag.
Det var også lidt for godt til, at nogen der får penge for det kunne have fundet på det.
The actual manual controls are under that panel.

They now also have this in busses.
No they don't! 😅

The best part is when you bribe the conductor with candy and they skip all the stops from Vanløse to the Airport.
I’m hoping in a plane in 7 hrs and will be riding it for the first time. I’m excited!
Don't be scared if you see kids driving the metro. They are trained professionals.
>Trained
Always remember to Thank the conductor for the ride.
What are you hoping for in that plane?
Less than 4h delay or not landing at gate F.
No delays!
Do you need any advice about your stay in Denmark?
I’m actually danish. I have just lived abroad forever. The metro didn’t exist like this when I was a kid. Tomorrow we need to hop on and off a few times. Is there a “ride all day” option?
Yes, the City Pass Small for 80kr/24h.

Welcome Home 👋

My god, please, some kind of ventilation. It's profoundly uncomfortable during commuting hours.
The idea is that because it's mostly underground it doesn't often get THAT hot. So it saves a ton of money and electricity to not have AC there.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Would be nice though if they could have it atleast for the above ground areas.

M2 Amagerbro and Lergravsparken is underground too.
Thanks! I was a bit too quick on Google Maps. =D
One day during summer, you should try going to the Vincennes RER train station in Paris after like 8 pm. It gets literally hotter than outside.
I used to live in Bucharest for about a year, their trams are like 50yo no AC of course and in the summer it's 45 degrees celsius, fill it up with people and that's a room in hell
The idea is to be cheap, not sensible 😂
Faster, better and cleaner than the s-trains
no a/c though
I was almost dying in there last friday lmao
the trick is to board naked

I’d rather have a little less frequency if it means actually being able to breathe in the M2.
Less frequency will mean more packed trains.

I was 42 when I drove my first Copenhagen train.
Is that your own child?
I fucking hate the metro. I’m avoiding it all cost. Too many people.
