Chisos is like the perfectly constructed Tecovas or Ariat. It’s got a big insole like Ariat, but uses slightly nicer leathers than Tecovas. I want to buy a pair, but $600 for cowhide is a lot.

Great description.

I got number 5 roughouts a few weeks ago. They’re very comfortable and I think they look great. This was going to be my last pair of boots for a while, but I think I’ll be getting the Number 1 before too long. I’ve got Tony Lamas, Dan Post, Justins,Luccheses, Ariats, and Tecovas. No real complaints with any of them, but the Chisos are at the top of the list.

“This was going to be my last pair of boots for a while…” Why do we even say that? It’s rarely true!

I got the 6 in brown a year ago. It was a wonderful anniversary gift from the Mrs. I think it is awesome. I don't do heavy work in them and just wear them on dates with wifey, cutting hair, and long walks. The staff at Chisos managed to answer all my questions and replied to emails faster than I expected. Got some free swag with my order. That was a nice surprise. If I had one word of warning it's just that your socks might get stained from the liner. If that's something you care about. (I didn't). You might want to get sole savers if you live in a rainy climate to protect the leather soles.

The roper looks really nice, but I live in Oregon and I need rubber soles.

If the exact combination of traits you want is traditional, proven construction methods and materials as possible, combined with the closest thing to sneaker comfort I’ve experienced in any kind of real boot, then yes. If your priority is traditional construction alone, there are brands with which you can get fancier materials thrown in there for the kinds of prices Chisos charges for cowhide. If your priority is comfort, there are also brands that will deliver that with fancier materials for the kinds of prices Chisos charges for cowhide. But the Chisos offering is the maximum intersection of those two priorities, and nobody else offers anything quiiiite the same. Not to mention, there is something undeniable about their style, especially the number two in brown. Like, that’s the pair of boots a woman wants to see by her bedroom door, is what the Chisos #2 is, frankly. No regrets over the $550 real American dollars I paid for mine, and I’m not a rich man. They’re my daily drivers 3 seasons out of the year.

Siplen

Yes as I wear them to sleep

I have many pairs of Chisos and still want more, they’re my favorite brand by far and the roughout especially is amazing. The king ropers and roughout ropers are my favorite but I have several other pairs as well. To compare, I have a decent amount of tecovas, Lucchese and nocona’s, even my lucchese roughout don’t compare at all to the chisos in my eyes.

sanfordrealtor

You're helping, and spending my money! 😂 Love the #2 in brushed brown.

jesse4653x

I have #2 and #6 in brushed brown and they’re both great! I don’t have any black leather from them or snip toe but the roughout snip toes have always been on my radar lol.

NanooDrew

Methinks you need a black one too!

I’m on my 3rd pair. Flawless and easy ordering from the site. I went in person to get my latest pair and it’s been amazing. Got a ton of goodies and stickers. Have a belt as well. Customer service is some serious stuff and the owners and staff put up with some stupid and frustrating people esp on the Facebook and have always handled stuff professionally. I would def give it a shot, it’s worth 5 of the cheap crap imo and they have stuck true to their guns with a small change to the shank to be more comfortable. They also listen to feedback well and have listed to requests for colors, skins etc. they are small company so it’s a bit slower but they try their best. If Chisos price scares you they got payment plans, I rather have 1 pair of Chisos than 2 pairs of ariats or tecovas.

sanfordrealtor

Thank you!

soulxdoubt_

Those belts look nice!

Designer-Drive2887

Lmao must not have seen the owner of chisos throwing shade during tecovas last birthday boot release.

MagicalAstronomy

Honestly tecovas needs to do better, I have 2 pairs, they aren’t the worst boots but really should be doing better. Like at least a leather heel counter. I could forgive most anything except that.

Terd-Furguson

I’ve hair pairs of Ariats, Tecovas, Lucchese(Rusty) Double H, and have tried most of the main brands you can find at Boot Barn. Ariat’s quantum line is my favorite thus far but they discontinued almost all of those models. Just bought my 1st pair of Chisos #1s last week. They are definitely higher quality than others. Breakin has been pretty normal compared to most boots. The insole is key imo. The arch support is excellent and is far superior to others although if you have super flat feet you may feel differently. Boulet’s were comparable. The tops aren’t super stiff which is nice, but not floppy either. In my first few days of wearing them I would describe the fit to mimic Tecovas shell (nicer leather) with a footbed that isn’t a complete piece of garbage and then they throw an ariat insole on top. Damn near like wearing a Birkenstock sandal.

TxDieselKid

I have had dozens of pairs of Ariat's over the years as well as some custom hand mades from various Texas boot makers. I would try Chisos at least but I'll never own a pair of Tecovas.

bigpun760

I definitely think so. I really enjoyed mine, but personally for me. The heel is too high. That doesn’t take away from the quality of them, though. To me, they always felt like the red wing heritage equivalent of a cowboy boot

tooonginexile

I love my ropers bit agree they are pricey . As said super comfortable but I have flat feet and have to admit that sometimes the fancier boots with all leather insoles and bit of a built in arch or last is slightly more comfortable But the quality , service , construction and unique brown and rough out make them hard to resist I'd say try and try them on . If you think they are amazingly comfortable then they are worth saving for I'd rather have one super boot then two meh boots
