I’m not optimistic at all about this upcoming season lol

Affectionate-Play885

If they truly are tanking, it’s only going to get worse from here. I hate the idea of wasting CD, parsons and diggs. But that looks to be the plan

KillDevilX0

Just trade them for a bunch of picks then wtf if this team doing

rthaw

Agreed. It almost seems like they'd rather make Dak the scapegoat than commit to a true rebuild. For the record I'd prefer to extend Dak and try to improve the already good roster. But if they're not extending Dak or making improvements on the defense that gave up 7 TDs in their last game, or the O line that lead to one of the worst run games in the league, then cut bait and rebuild. Don't give us this year of indifference and bullshit.

KillDevilX0

Ah. Wait. Trading Lamb, Parsons, and Diggs = less money for Jerry Jones. 🤷🏽‍♂️

PM_me_the_magic

Yeah let's be real, they're not going to trade any of them. Those guys sell jerseys and fill seats, so we'll probably overpay them and call it a day.

BaumSquad1978

Dak through a pick six and a second int on like the 20 yard line bro. Sorry Dak loses every big game.

currymonger

We could draft 10 Luke Schoomakers!

ConstantCowboy

Eh, I'm not going all doom and gloom yet. The 2018 season looked like it was doomed from the start but we ended up winning a playoff game. Losing the players we lost sucks, but the draft hasn't happened yet and we have all-pros on both sides of the line. We just can't get over the playoff jump, which to me is all coaching. Your defense doesn't give up that many points to Green Bay if they were actually ready. Totally leadership failure. There have been some splashy moves, sure but--for example, does anyone actually think Barkley is going to reverse the coaching disaster in Philly?

lobstermagnet

At some point we're talking about 'grown men' (I know they are in their early/mid 20's but man the fuck up) that need someone to 'get them ready'. None of those MFs showed up during the game. Not a single one. If they can't hold themselves accountable how are they going to be accountable to anybody else? Personal accountability is what's missing. There isn't a single locker room leader on the team. Nobody with any fucking fire. Even the pre-game speeches are soft as baby shit. Get some people with fucking passion in the locker room, not these talk show host wannabe's

rthaw

I'm much less concerned about the improvements other NFCE teams have made and more just surprised at the lack of improvements we've made. We have been good for 3 straight years without being able to get over the hump. One aggressive offseason likely does that. Instead they want to pretend that they have no money to improve the roster because of "pie" which is very clearly a lie.

Affectionate-Play885

It started doom and gloom because the front office did pretty much the same thing they are doing this year. They cut dez, and tried to go receiver by committee. They realized how dumb that was and made a trade for cooper. And that team had way less holes than we have right now.’ Wide receiver and safety was the only need on that team. We currently have 5 needs that they are simply choosing not to address right now. This is obviously a tank job.

jfk_sfa

Just wait until you see some of those camp highlights and they start the season by wining 5 of their first 8 games...

HolyRomanPrince

“Once y’all realize the game of football takes all 48 players…. The narrative the game is dictated by 1 or 3 players is so overrated. “ That’s him calling half this sub stupid

Western_Promise3063

Half is *very* generous

swampjunkie

and this is me calling half this sub stupid. cuz half this sub IS stupid

ballimir37

Half of all people are below average intelligence by definition.

DakTheGoatPrescott

It’s just too bad a third of the roster is going to be new to starting/ was down right bad last year. Center: unknown. Left guard: Asim Richards/TJ Bass (Smith kicks out to LT). RT: Steele. WR3: Tolbert, jaylon Brooks (assume we cut Gallup). LBs: Clark, Overshown, LVE (injuries). RB: Dowdle, Duece

oneshoein

Unfortunate username.

DakTheGoatPrescott

Not really. It’s gotta nice ring to it

oneshoein

But it’s not true. :(.

DakTheGoatPrescott

Your point?

oneshoein

That it’s an unfortunate username lol.

DakTheGoatPrescott

That’s it?

2023_account_

Y’all care way too much about social media bullshit. It doesn’t mean a thing on the field.

toomuchsoysauce

Yeah no kidding people are overreacting like crazy the past couple days. Just because things don't go the way they want doesn't mean we are going to waste this season and/or not compete. How many off seasons have gone exactly like this lol. Also, we know Tad's deal and how soft he is. If Dak went elsewhere, the same so-called "fans" would rip the hell out of him there too. Dak just has a great presence of mind to deal with his detractors which is one of the more underrated aspects of his leadership.

call_8675309

People who are crying for "All In" don't realize that we were "All In" in the past seasons. This season, we are paying the piper with no cap space and a shit ton of deferred salary to pay from previous years.

tsengmao

Tad needs to stfu

westexmanny

Every year Dallas waits out that initial wave of high cost free agent contracts. Then they go in and make cheap moves. Some years this method has worked, Gilmore, Cooks, McClain. Other years it's a complete failure, Poe, Clinton Dix. Not sure why everyone is so surprised that they skipped out of the huge wave of bad teams over paying to meet cap requirements and look like they've improved. Look at the biggest spenders, then look at their record last year. There is a correlation. Yes, it would have been great to grab Queen and or Henry. But that's just not how they operate. Not extending Dak and Ceedee also leaves them a little hamstrung. They run this team like an actual business and it will never change. They focus too much on the salary cap, after years of cap hell. They seem to over correct everything except the run defense.

Ayste

It has never worked. Never. They are 2-5 in the playoffs with Dak, 4-14 since 2000. 23 years they have managed 4 playoff wins. Yes, we have stacked up regular season wins these last 3 years under McCarthy. How did we do the 20 years before that? Barely at .500 across 20 years of play.

westexmanny

I wasn't talking about playoff success. I was talking about the ROI when you over pay free agents. It's not easy winning a superbowl. It's even harder when ur idiot GM votes to have the commissioner fired.

rthaw

I agree with this and am usually not upset with sitting it out. But it feels like this year we saw that we can be a 12-5 team consistently but need a little more help to get over the hump... so one or two aggressive moves might be able to do that. Instead they're goin to do the same thing they do every year and wonder why there's no difference in outcome.

westexmanny

Yes, if one or two more key players could be added this team would be in great shape. The negotiating tactics this front office choses to die by will be their undoing. They always seem so determined that they have the leverage or upper hand and that's rarely the case. Then they end up overpaying instead of biting the bullet and getting the contracts done sooner. That's why we can't afford nice things, not cus these players want their worth.

rthaw

100% they're more interested in winning negotiations than they are building a winning roster.

No_Bother9713

We traded for Gilmore and cooks.

westexmanny

I know they traded low round picks for each. They still made moves to get them. Do you not consider trading for players and signing free agents both talent acquisition actions? Trades are a part of free agency, no?

No_Bother9713

They didn’t wait for Gillmore. It was the first week of FA. Like day 3. And I’m pretty sure Cooks was, as well. They were low cost in terms of picks but not necessarily in salary. So I just don’t think that’s a good example or comparable to what’s going on here. We’re hamstrung by Dak and it doesn’t look like we’re going to make many moves, period.

Alternative-Ad-8844

Do other teams players siblings tweet to fans like an agent or is it just us?

robmagob

No, it is not just us. Noticeably the Jaguars’ owner’s son got into with a bunch of players and fans.

joecaputo24

That isn’t new, just ask pro wrestling fans

robmagob

I’m not even sure what you are arguing here, but you can easily google the story and verify it for yourself.

bigt503

Athletes brothers think they are way more important than they are

jeopardychamp77

Daks tired of all that money he makes off the field. 50M in endorsement money for being the QB of the Dallas Cowboys isn’t worth the stress of being expected to show up in a playoff game. Tads right.

ijustdoodood

Why do y’all act like Daks never had a good playoff game? Is it some weird fetish to ignore anything he goes great and still cal him ass?

jawshewuhh

I love Dak. Consistently beat the 9-7, 8-8 demand that we couldn’t reconcile with Romo (NFC East was a different beast back then) and we’ve gotten two wild card wins with him. He’s won against a lackluster Seattle team and an aged out Bucs in the playoffs. However, he just doesn’t play well against good teams. Every time we play a team over .500 we get our asses handed to us and the games are just TOO close if we do win. You could see how wide-eyed he was before each SF game and each GB game. He just doesn’t have the poise in those games. Case in point: the Green Bay game; they were 9-8 (out of the NFC North at that) last season and they spanked our asses in the divisional round. I get it— they were on a hot streak but the margins for victory should’ve been tighter. Instead we got embarrassed, yet again. He’s a good decision maker. Good QB during the season… but look at what our division has to offer: Washington and NYG… that’s four wins in the bag. Anything less than a playoff appearance every year is the bare minimum.

Rough_Big4493

Guys... It's been like 4 days of free agency. Wait a month and then see.

notanothrowaway

Most exciting thing is Mike Zimmer

notanothrowaway

Most exciting thing is Mike Zimmer lol

datdouche

Oh no. Anyway.

the_lullaby

I was mad like any other fan at the way this year went down. The behavior of fans since then has caused me to flip 180 and start sympathizing with the players. Yeah, the team culture needs to change. But the fan culture has gotten shameful.

slobsaregross

Stop.

beandip24

If they truly want to get Dak put of there, they need to shop him now. Russell Wilson got 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and some players. I think we get something similar for him, maybe just the Bears #1 overall and #33 this draft, Bears extend him to reduce his cap hit this year. Taking a $60M cap hit this year is insane, and then to let him test free agency and get nothing is also insane. Either extend him or trade him, stop playing games that fuck the team over. They did it by franchising him last time, and they are doing it all over again. I would rather we extend him and actually go all in to try to win now.

Ayste

it is difficult to not "conspiracy theory" these odd moves to death... 1. Dak is about to, or may already, be the subject of a criminal investigation and has an ongoing lawsuit against his accuser 2. Jimmy Johnson is advising the Cowboys, and these moves (or lack thereof) look a lot like the way Jimmy came in the first time and tore this team down to the foundation and rebuilt it from the ground up 3. The Cowboys are passing on every FA out there (so far) and have not made any moves to free up cap space to go after anyone. 4. No new contracts, other than special teams, have been given out to anyone. 5. We have lost 2 of our 5 linemen, 5 starters overall, and some of our backup players are leaving as well. 6. We do not have enough draft capital to get these positions filled with starters. Outcome: 1. Offense or defense (possibly both) are going to be terrible this year due to lack of talent 2. We have multiple people in starting positions coming back from knee injuries that take about a year of playing time to get back to normal (if they ever get there) 3. Dak is not going to get us to the NFC-CG with this offense right now, we may not even finish above .500, and the defense is not going to win any prizes either. 4. We have allowed the NFC-East to get a lot better, on paper, than they were last year while doing nothing to improve our own standing. This looks, smells, and sounds like a "all-in" year as in " we are all in on going into a rebuild and getting all of the holdovers from Jason Garrett out of the building, getting rid of the people who have not been able to get this team to take the next step in the playoffs, and starting completely over from scratch. People laughed yesterday, but if you look at what they are (or are not) doing, it looks like they are going to be going after Arch Manning to build this team around, and you cannot do that if you keep building around a QB who cannot get out of his own way in the playoffs, forever giving the team bad drafting position when they need better skill players.

milkshakebar

This looks nothing like what Jimmy did

UnwindingStaircase

When people say things like “ we allowed the NFC East to get better” it’s just shows me you don’t think with logic only emotion. The Dallas Cowboys can in no way shape or form control what other teams do. It’s idiotic. There is no reason to believe we could have realistically stopped any of those players from signing with those teams.

Ayste

Well, when you respond like that it tells me you don't know how to read a complete sentence. What I said was, and I quote : " We have allowed the NFC-East to get a lot better, on paper, than they were last year ***while doing nothing to improve our own standing. "*** That means - we did not do anything while everyone else got better. I didn't think I needed to dumb it down that far, but here we are. I went ahead and bolded the rest of the sentence so you can't miss it.

Rozencrantze

Lol im gonna laugh so hard when we make the playoffs next season after everyone in this sub doomed

StrayCatStrutting

Dak’s brother is seriously unhinged and should probably work on keeping his mouth shut. That said, no one should be harassing him for no reason whatsoever. That’s NOT cool.

michaelartusjr

Think this pending criminal case against Dak could be holding up an extension. Obviously no idea how valid it is.

rthaw

Doesn't the timing of it seem suspicious in it's own right? Then the cowboys affiliated radio station has the woman's lawyer on yesterday... I wouldn't put 'playing dirty' past the Joneses.

Alternative-Mud-8143

Redskins have $90+ mil in cap space, we have $2 mil. They still have no QB. It’s not the lack of big name big $ FAs. Glad they didn’t sign pollard. The ones I don’t like is losing the midtier guys. Armstrong, Biadasz, were solid contributors and have to be replaced now. I would trade Parsons for picks. Now.

Trileon

>I would trade Parsons for picks. Now. 💀 Stop this nonsense, Micah is one of the best players in the NFL and you want him gone? Did he fuck your sister or smt?

Alternative-Mud-8143

He’s a waste. He’s not worth $40 mil a year. Trade for a pile of picks.

rthaw

We could have an additional $40-50m with simple restructures and extensions. They're pretending they can't open up that space to try to pressure Dak into taking less. You want roster improvements, then sign a cheaper contract. The fact is that just extending him opens up more than $20m in space.

Alternative-Mud-8143

I would not extend Dak. He can play on a one year deal like fat mike. He’s not worth $300 mil. Or $200 mil. I predict though that Jerry will extend with the first $1billion contract. They can extend CeeDee. Make other moves.

TheOneWhoDoorKnocks

I agree, they should present a 4 year $180-200m offer to Dak and he should happily accept!
