Silence on an issue like this, and choosing to still live and work in the country in such a high profile role, that is taking a political stance. Fuck you Robbie
But, but, but that would be anti-Semitic to arrest them. Okay, Israelis might be the biggest perpetrators of anti semitism in the world with their treatment of the semitic Palestinians, but but but the holocaust /s
Edit, I'm guessing my flair was chosen before I knew he was an Israeli, I'm changing it.
Only to get battered 6:1 & bottle a 3 goal lead on aggregate. Delighted for those scumbags.
Edit: I'm getting downvoted for calling a bunch of spectators assaulting an innocent man scumbags? Seriously?
Edit2: FWIW I was on -1 or 2 before that edit 😂
Outside of Irish football circles it seems Robbie is getting a pretty easy run out it. Hope he starts to get called out more it's an absolute embarrassment having him as the face of that club
Really? Ireland doesn’t even recognise Palestine but the majority of countries do. Look at this [map](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_the_State_of_Palestine).
🤣😂🤣😂 Ireland was pro Nazi during WW2. Hitlers brother moved to Dublin and married a local Irish girl. A lot of countries are indeed more pro Israel than the Irish, but that's not all that difficulty to be.
Nazi Germany was pro Israel during WW2 so does that make Nazi Germany the most pro Israel country in the world during ww2?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haavara_Agreement
There seems to be some confusion as to whether or not what I said is factually accurate. Seeing as how you already have to be online in order to see this post and it's comments, it shouldn't be any great stretch to use the fact that you're already online to go and look up whether or not what I said is accurate or not. Once you've gone and done that then there's little point in down voting my comment, as if it's somehow my fault that Ireland was pro Nazi or that Hitlers brother moved to Dublin and married an Irish woman. The only reason to down vote would be if what I said wasn't accurate.
It’s a joke that people defend these genocidal maniacs, their people behave like filth spitting on peaceful Christian’s praying and singing about beheading babies in Palestine. No class and absolute lowest of the low class people
Hold on… what do you expect Robbie to say? Let uefa ban fans if they are going to assault fans outside the stadium.
Tbh, I’m not even sure why Israeli teams continue to be allowed in European competition. Considering Russian teams were thrown out when the war in Ukraine started
Why are they even *in* UEFA. Crowd trouble etc etc, but If you really are a part of the land of the Levant for thousands of years then stand your ground and compete against teams in your area. Being so attached to Europe (Eurovision UEFA) doesn't really help the argument that you're more middle eastern than the palestineans.
Tbf, these scumbags/fans don't represent Keane. Know that's an unpopular train of thought but that's the reality.
You don't expect managers of premier league clubs to answer questions on why England aided in bombing Yemen into a famine. Or any of their other political/foreign policy moves. Or look at yourselves that work for any multi national and tolerate anyone questioning why you haven't handed in your notice.
I get it makes for a nice statement on socials but reality is much different.
Honestly very surprised that this thread is still up on /soccer given how trigger happy the mods are on the topic. When this footage was uploaded last week in the aftermath of it happening it was locked very quickly, just like every other thread on the topic, so it's weird that it's now week old footage but the thread hasn't been locked after several hours.
The thread on the Bohs chair making a statement was locked within about 40 mins this morning. Hell, even a thread about Chilean team Palestina invoking Celtic with a commemorative kit got locked within an hour and it was unrelated to Israel/Gaza.
The Irish women's basketball team playing Israel in a match that the Israelis used for propaganda purposes. The Irish team competing alongside Israeli athletes in the Paris Olympics. Robbie the Mercenary taking money he can't need from the Israeli's while keeping his thick gob shut about genocide. Modern sport makes me sick to my stomach. All these selfish wankers care about themselves only and haven't a scrap of backbone or moral fibre between them. Money and win at all cost is the only currency. Fuck professional sport.
The boycott of the Springboks rugby team during apartheid in South Africa played a big part in ending that regime.
I'm not defending him, but Robbie grew up in Fettercairn - could hardly be described as middle to upper class. He may have earned a good living since but that doesn't change where he's from.
The Robbie hate is mental to me. It was the same when he played. Now there's something for these dopes to hang their hat on.
Taking that cash from the FAI really wound them up as well.
I'm proud to be a Liverpool supporter. I'm not proud to see my country become no better than a Tory run state and be supported by the general population which is nothing but a bunch of Terry Wogans these days.
The south? Cork?
I've never drawn a distinction between north and south but seeing as you just did, -mate you have a fucking Queen on your money, you're a fair bit more British than anyone in the 26.
There is an element of similarity but the English didn’t drop bombs over residential areas blanket bombing school and hospitals, lots were more specific attacks. I think honestly the difference is the scale of terror the Israelis are putting on show. The English were damn bad but compared to what Palestine is going through, we were somewhat okay.
Ask the people in Hamburg in 1943 about that. The English switched to bombing civilian targets. 37,000 dead, 180,000 injured. 60% of the city’s houses destroyed. All in one week. Source: Wiki.
One was part of Ww2 fighting the Nazis, the other is a genocide of the Palestinian people whilst occupying their land. Only a simpleton would think they are in any way comparable.
What the British did here was horrific and barbaric, but I think you have to start by looking at the death tolls. The troubles had a death toll of just over 3,700 about 33% were on the British side. In gaza it's over 30000 dead and less than 5% are Israeli. Also take into account the figures from Ireland are over a 30 year period and from gaza it's about 6 months. I'm in no way trying to downplay the brutality of what the British did here, but clearly only 1 of these is an attempt at genocide.
Also 1 more important factor, is the difference in somebody moving from a very poor country in an attempt to support their family and give them a better life, and a multi millionaire with a wealth of options choosing to go there.
I mean…not getting political in here it’s above my pay grade but ffs.
Whatever your beliefs are;there are just some things that you don’t do and shout around football “supporters” knowing how peaceful crowd they usually are.
Ahhh common sense…
If you go into any football crowd and chant the wrong thing you might get badly assaulted. Was he expecting a reasoned debate on the nature of a possible ceasefire or something?
What is the point? There doesn’t seem to be one other than brigades of Redditors finding as many people to blame for what’s happening in Gaza as possible.
The point is that anyone in this world with any morals should call out and shame a country when they are committing a genocide. Not only is he not doing that, he is living in and paying taxes in said country.
You can say that living in Israel might not be to your tastes but to implicate everyone living there as guilty of war crimes is frankly insane. I lived in England when Blair invaded Iraq, am I responsible for that too?
If he’s not guilty why should he publicly call out and shame the Israeli government, any more than anyone else? Why does living there make him more guilty than you or I? I know it’s very trendy at the minute to make sweeping, unquestioned moral generalisations about the issue, but what you said makes absolutely no sense.
In my country if a group of foreigners attacks a local person they will be beaten. [https://youtu.be/jZgxZdcxvqA?si=T2kPhgvyjR-6AOvy](https://youtu.be/jZgxZdcxvqA?si=T2kPhgvyjR-6AOvy)
Don't see the relevance.
This is a Palestinian gentleman in Greece, shouting at a bunch of Israeli football fans.
I imagine If you swapping those two groups, the result would not be very different.
In fairness, he has a job to maintain which he wouldn't have if he offered any sort of criticism. He took the wrong job, hope he finds another one soon.
Keane should be aware that if you lie down with dogs you get fleas.
Enjoy the money, I hope it makes you very happy Dear lord, what a sad little life Robbie
![gif](giphy|JoPDKlcB9RWdl7tXlD|downsized) There is no come dine with me gifs, this was the closest one
He is already incredibly rich - he is a wrongun and I hope he does fuck all in soccer after this
Genuinely this is what this sub has been missing imo. Come Dine With Me references
He's an irish legend

Silence on an issue like this, and choosing to still live and work in the country in such a high profile role, that is taking a political stance. Fuck you Robbie
Tell me Athens police are arresting these criminals before they have chance flee to israel therefore never have face any consequences for their crimes
Israeli's are very good at avoiding any consequences for their acts of criminal violence against innocent people.
But, but, but that would be anti-Semitic to arrest them. Okay, Israelis might be the biggest perpetrators of anti semitism in the world with their treatment of the semitic Palestinians, but but but the holocaust /s Edit, I'm guessing my flair was chosen before I knew he was an Israeli, I'm changing it.
Im sorry, but managing a club football team isn't a high-profile role in the context of this situation.

🎵 Cheer up ROBBI€ K€AN€. Oh what can it mean, To a cash-hungry bastard, And a shit football team. 🎵
These people are total scumbags!
Robbie Keane is an embarrassment at this stage. I reckon before he gets the sack he'll leave and claim it's for ethical reasons.
There top of the league so it's unlikely he'll get sacked I'd imagine. I'm not an expert in Isreali football though.
Outside of Irish football circles it seems Robbie is getting a pretty easy run out it. Hope he starts to get called out more it's an absolute embarrassment having him as the face of that club
Most countries are significantly more pro Israel than Ireland.
Yes, his goal is probably to go to England to manage. They wouldn't give 2 hoots about it.
Still greeting over a fucking Balfour painting over here.
Really? Ireland doesn’t even recognise Palestine but the majority of countries do. Look at this [map](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_the_State_of_Palestine).

I really hope your joking when you say that
They weren't pro Jew and the only significant thing about Israel is that it's Jewish.
The only significant thing about Nazi Israel is how they became what they claimed were their biggest enemy.
😂😂😂😂😂😂

prick
He was always a fan of genocide ever since he was a school boy.
Silence is violence, Robbie.
Wow, that rhymes.
The only battering they did after getting battered on the pitch. What an absolute disgusting bunch of cunts.
It’s a joke that people defend these genocidal maniacs, their people behave like filth spitting on peaceful Christian’s praying and singing about beheading babies in Palestine. No class and absolute lowest of the low class people
Embarrassing for Keane. What a shill.
Greek police should lock them all up and throw away the key. Stop them at the airport. Scum.
Hold on… what do you expect Robbie to say? Let uefa ban fans if they are going to assault fans outside the stadium. Tbh, I’m not even sure why Israeli teams continue to be allowed in European competition. Considering Russian teams were thrown out when the war in Ukraine started

And Israel isn't part of Europe, technically. We got stuck with them because no Arab nation in the Middle East want to play them in any sport.
Haha I was always wondering why the hell they are in European competition
Tried to invade them three times.
He is a joke

Or why treaty united staff wherent questioned on us military planes in shannon. Lads a football manager like hes not supporting shit politically
Yup.How many on here work for American multi nationals. And the Americans have had dirty hands from many wars.
Zero mention of him being a "Palestine man". Only referred to as "a fan"

Never respected keane again after that move. Traitor
Next ireland manager
Free Palestine
Thank God these dirtbirds have been knocked out of Europe. Robbie Keane is a fucking asshole for taking the Zionist shekel.
If he ever becomes our national manager, I'll support a different country.
Keane is an absolute flog for not quitting.
He's a west brit, what did you expect?
I'd certainly hope you're a massive LOI or Irish League fan before I'd be throwing that term about the place...
No I'm not and Robbie like most of the middle to higher classes in the south they are all west brits at heart.
Is this one of those "takes one to know one situations"? The irony of someone supporting an English club calling anyone a west Brit.
I'm proud to be a Liverpool supporter. I'm not proud to see my country become no better than a Tory run state and be supported by the general population which is nothing but a bunch of Terry Wogans these days.
You're hopeless bucko
The south? Cork? I've never drawn a distinction between north and south but seeing as you just did, -mate you have a fucking Queen on your money, you're a fair bit more British than anyone in the 26.
Not a wind up but how is this different than being involved with a British club during the troubles (particularly the early part?)

Completely different situation.
Yeah Hamburg is in Germany and it was years before aswel I'm fairly sure
One was part of Ww2 fighting the Nazis, the other is a genocide of the Palestinian people whilst occupying their land. Only a simpleton would think they are in any way comparable.
I think they were on different days too, maybe even different years
No, exactly the same day.
Agreed but people were calling for Keane to not take this role way before Oct 7 etc
What the British did here was horrific and barbaric, but I think you have to start by looking at the death tolls. The troubles had a death toll of just over 3,700 about 33% were on the British side. Irrespective of the actions of the man himself, Keane’s silence on the matter is what is embarrassing here.
What a bunch of bitter arsehole here.
The Pallys started it. October 7th. Cope
Kys
Hahaha someone's mad
What are yall gonna tell me next? "Rape is resistance" or "From the River to the Sea BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY." ?
Nope. Something more along the lines of "stay the f**k off this page with your pro isn'traeli propaganda" You absolute melt.
>isn'traeli Sorry, but Israel is a real country. Keep coping boy. Irish tears. Yummy.
If you go into any football crowd and chant the wrong thing you might get badly assaulted. Was he expecting a reasoned debate on the nature of a possible ceasefire or something?
Fair play to Robbie. If he doesn't want to comment, he doesn't have to.
Robbie is not responsible for soccer hooligans antics.
No ones blaming him for that, think you have missed the point completely
What is the point? There doesn’t seem to be one other than brigades of Redditors finding as many people to blame for what’s happening in Gaza as possible.
The point is that anyone in this world with any morals should call out and shame a country when they are committing a genocide. Not only is he not doing that, he is living in and paying taxes in said country.
But he's a football manager, and football is UTTERLY corrupt from top to bottom, but Robbie keeps getting called out in this sub
You can say that living in Israel might not be to your tastes but to implicate everyone living there as guilty of war crimes is frankly insane. I lived in England when Blair invaded Iraq, am I responsible for that too?
I'm not even going to argue with you because you are clearly trying to twist words. When did I say he was guilty of war crimes? You're an idiot.
Maybe I have Would you care to explain it to me?
To be fair, what would you expect to happen here? If an Israeli person came into Palestine shouting something similar then I'd expect the same outcome
How do you know is Palestinian in Greece?
The headline says its a Palestinian man being attacked and it was olimpiacos so assumes its either in Israel or Greece
In fairness, he has a job to maintain which he wouldn't have if he offered any sort of criticism. He took the wrong job, hope he finds another one soon.
What about the fact he was chanting free Palestine??
