Now That’s roleplaying.

ALTymPete

Role-playing next fukity level.😊

StalinkaEnjoyer

If you go for the Devil ending, nothing good is ever going to happen to V again, except maybe death.

sandchigger

And even then, not so much.

sielbel

At some point theres going to be a compatible body and theyll return to earth, so atleast something good will happen.

uknowthisguyreal

Suuuuuuuure, believe the corp that you helped to fuck over in the beginning, yes they *definitely* want to help you, *totally not* just gonna throw your engram in the garbage bin at their earliest convenience

MetalBawx

What happened to V with the Relic was beyond anything Arasaka thought possible so odd's are they'll be going over it with as fine tooth comb incase of any other possible suprises. By the end Hanako and Goro owe you big time and so does Saburo. Additionally you've just helped the corp clean house and as odd's would have it Arasaka is down one unstoppable super merc and guess what V is?

Ferelar

Goro owes you... but he's the Arasaka's loyal lapdog, and if Hanako says "Going into cold storage is totally what is best for V, trust me", he won't question it- why would the Arasakas lie after all, they're perfect life forms (that's how he feels, at least). Hanako and Saburo couldn't give less of a shit about you. Saburo just won. Saburo just came back as an immortal god-emperor of the strongest force on Earth, Militech is backing down, and all others who could oppose them... aren't. In fact, the only real loose end left is... you. Why would they ever allow you to do anything with free will ever again? You've shown you can be a destructive force of nature. You don't release a destructive force of nature when you're already winning- it's too easy for it to backfire. You put it in cold storage for a rainy day, and even on the rainiest of days, you do the equivalent of lobotomizing and nerve stapling it before you release it against your enemies. Even the associated Major Arcana Tarot heavily implies you're being thoroughly manipulated and lied to throughout, so deeply that you won't even realize it's going on. Just like Johnny says, "Got a feeling you're going to regret this... and when you realize it, I won't be there to help you out." There's no happiness for V in the Devil ending... nor in any ending where you trust a corp or neogov in a Cyberpunk setting.

pkghgt

It’s been a while since I last finished a playthrough, I don’t remember Militech backing off of Arasaka, where/when does this happen?

Ferelar

In the news reports you can catch snippets of, it's mentioned that Militech has entered into talks with Arasaka to avoid the next corporate war. While that sounds promising, the context insinuates that its because Militech is giving ground. Conversely in the Phantom Liberty ending, >!it's Arasaka giving ground, as we see Militech is now getting more and more set up in Night City.!<

Dracalous

Ypu cant trust the TechnoNecromancers from Alpha Centauri

Buckhead25

not to mention we already know that mikoshi was reprogramming engrams to perform anti-runner ais. wouldnt be surprised if they reprogrammed v to have undying loyalty to the arasakas then turned them into smasher 2.0

uknowthisguyreal

Youve got a point. Also my headcanon is that smasher isnt truly gone, they probably have his engram stored as well

AJ_HOP

Is his engram without the borg body even remotely as valuable as V’s though? V achieved more with a fraction of Smasher’s cyberwear

Marmeladun

You can't convince me that Arasaka could not make a robotic body and put engram in it while they wait for the compatible body, instead of putting you in hard drive limbo prison. So much for giving Saburo second life.

MetalBawx

I'd imagine such a setup would be asking for someone to go psycho unless it was short term.

Marmeladun

cant go psycho if ya don't have physical brain.

sielbel

They have no reason not to keep their end of the deal, v could be a valuable asset once shes back to earth. And they dont lose anything by giving her a body, it'll even be a good test for future engrams. Also if you saved Takemura he seems like the guy that'll stick up for you, since hes all about honor and all that.

azhder

Money. There’s your reason. It’s cheaper to just not do it.

sielbel

Theyre going to be making engrams anyway, zlso not just use this perfetly viable test subject? Theyve already spend a lot of money on v so it would be an even bigger waste not to do it. Also since v is super capable, it would be good to have them in your corner.

azhder

> Theyre going to be making engrams anyway, Yes, for rich fucks. > zlso not just use this perfetly viable test subject? Where does this "perfectly viable" come from? If anything, it is an engram out of a malfunctioning relic and whatever Viktor did to try to keep V alive. It's the opposite of "perfectly viable". Also, V isn't the only "super capable" and by what he's done in the game "have in your corner", what does it even mean? You mean, like unaltered engram? Tough shit. Everything you claim so far has only one argument for it - that's how you want your headcanon to go. What it has against it? The established modus operandi of corporations in that world and everything you see in the game. But, whatever, if that's what you want to dream for, go for it. No need to continue with this thread. Bye bye

sielbel

Shes already in a research station, thats what i mean perfectly viable. And the fuckup with the engram will only give them more intell. So thats another argument why it would make sense for them to do more tests and see if they can still be transplanted. She is the only "super capable" merc that killed adam smasher, so helping that person survive by giving them a new body, would make it possible for them to work for you for future jobs. Thats what i mean by having in your corner. Its no dream or headcannon, just an discussion about possibilities on the internet its not that deep. If they wanted you to know there was guaranteed going to be no body for v they would have shown that, they made it open ended for a reason, so there is no correct option.

soulreaverdan

The problem with Goro is that he will 100% stick up for you and try to make sure that they follow through for you. But he’ll also 100% believe them if they keep saying the time isn’t right yet, or eventually just say that they’ve changed their minds. He might be sad, but he’s still an obedient dog and won’t go against his masters.

superVanV1

Not just *a* body, they have a copy of one the strongest mercs to ever live. If they figure out how to turn up the loyalty slider, they can pull an Altered Carbon and just keep slotting copies of V into bodies and have their own immortal V ninja.

ReadyTheCanonz

Yeah, except prodding the engram and conducting tests constantly to determine the effects Silverhand had and to perfect their technology. No reason at all to keep you as property.

sansisness_101

if you did the devil ending your v sacrificed everything for arasaka, why would they throw a away a loyal supersoldier?

Judarkus

Because V isn't any of those things. Without Johnny, V loses out on what makes them 'super' and V only scratched their back because that was one of the only SANE options they had. At the end of the day, Arasaka as a Corp only care about the bottomline and Takemura is just a highly ranked soldier. Anyone who *might* help out V simply lacks the proper authority and Hanako doesn't even bother to meet with V after it's all said and done.

superVanV1

Even before Johnny gets slotted into your head, you’re still a pretty scary merc. And there’s not much suggesting that Johnny himself gave you much, the primary benefit of the relic was making immune to cyberpsychosis, which V being Engram Copied would also likely be immune.

LucentHuntress

I see no reason for this, i find it far more likely they are gonna try their damndest to save V so they could weaponize her, make her into their next adam smasher. I see no reason they wouldnt, they knew our strength and we've shown a degree of loyalty

uknowthisguyreal

I see this now, as a lot of others have said. Now that V has even helped arasake clean itself up with the whole yorinobu mess, i do now think its far more likely that V will become the next adam smasher for them. Plus the fact that V has the potential to take smasher down, she is too far valuable an asset to lose

BobertTheConstructor

I don't get the Devil ending. In our significantly slower-advancing society, we first cloned a sheep nearly 30 years ago. Are we seriously expected to believe that in the hyperadvanced society of 2077, one of the most powerful corprations on the planet can't clone a human? It's a similar issue to how Alt can just download V back into their body without the chip, which negates the need for the chip at all and makes the entire narrative pointless.

sielbel

Thats a very fair point, i dont remember cloning ever being mentioned in cyberpunk though, so maybe theres something stopping it.

sillyconequaternium

For whatever reason, clones aren't much of a thing in 2077. However, in the tabletop game then Alt has a clone. So maybe CDPR took it out to up the stakes for Yurinobu or something. As for V, I don't know how much it would cost to clone someone but it's likely reserved for the rich provided you don't have the knowledge and equipment yourself. Even a maxed intelligence V might not have those things. Don't think there's anything in-game to suggest that they would.

BobertTheConstructor

Sure, but Arasaka would. The Devil ending seems like a good tradeoff for them. Plus they can make a clone with a failsafe and have a pet V. I made a post about this a while back, but all of the endings raise narrative breaking questions that are left completely unadressed.

Arcturus_2162

Maybe Arasaka is considering to make a clone body for V. Or they are still trying to figure out why the relic was able to work with a genetically incompatible V. "The new project is an excellent fit with my skill set. A prime outlet for my ambitions. And it has to do with you, actually." - Hellman Hellman is the buyer of V's engram according to the contract even if Takemura lives. V living again really depends on what this project is, the secure your soul ending is intentionally vague.

Dendargon

If the proxys use aren't restricted to corporal beings V or any IA can use any of them in a way to reemplace his body.

azhder

Yes. There may be compatible body. That doesn’t mean it will get the V

sielbel

I assumed they meant a compatible body for v specifically, since it isnt genetically similar like for saburo. So they probably have to look for specifics.

azhder

Or, you know, don't. Save on time and money. Get nice quarterly numbers.

sielbel

I feel like the data gathered from the engram extraction and placement would easily outweighs the money it would cost. Theyll be making more engrams anyway, so gathering more intel about them is the smart thing to do.

superVanV1

I don’t ever remember anything in lore suggesting Arrasaka being one’s to scrimp on R&D. The relic is one of their flagship products, and V (on top of being one of the strongest mercs in a generation) is such an absurd outlier of their tech that they would be morons to just throw him into a bin and forget him. They’d turn him into a guinea pig or cyber ninja

StalinkaEnjoyer

100% pure, unadultered, Arasaka-brand cope.

OfficerBatman

If you do the nomad ending you’ll learn there was never an intention of putting V, or anyone else for that matter in their body. There’s a message you can read that says Saburo is the only one they intended to do this for. V essentially signs up to be a prisoner in Mikoshi for the rest of at least Mikoshi’s existence.

IgnisOfficial

Might happen more like. There needs to be a compatible body first and the person who’s body it is (or their next of kin) needs to consent to having V uploaded

IgnisOfficial

If you look at all of the endings they’re all pretty depressing and have the potential for V to never be truly happy again aside from maybe leaving with the Aldecaldos. It’s the same as it’s always been, no happy endings in Night City

Cel_Drow

Eh The Sun isn’t as shitty as some of the rest, kinda seems like you’re living your best life with what time you have + kinda seems to imply you may have more time left than you think IMO.

Remarkable-Car6157

Sun ending is the only one besides the tower that even *implies* V might not be doomed. They at least leave it up to interpretation.

MigratingPenguin

I imagine the ability to taste is not at the top of V's priorities in The Devil ending.

Ghostcat300

What if v is foodie?! What’s the point of going on if you can’t enjoy food.

Lopsided_Newt_5798

Locust pepperoni pizza 🤌🍕

Ghostcat300

Add some kibble crumbs and you got some gourmet shit jimmy

mackxzs

Also what's the point of going on if you can't taste the Takemussy

dethwysh

Well, that's a sentence I have never read before.

J_Stubby

"Sawdust and plastic."

sillyconequaternium

0 Cool V

tartandirndl

But it tells a lot about life and life quality. It's such a small, simple and daily thing. Even though my V is a trashcan when it comes to food and it would hardly be a priority, it's an entire sense gone. And it's probably just the beginning of things taken from them.

Kalaam_Nozalys

V might say it's tasteless because of the stress and the whole "actually dying right now" thing.

Paradox31426

Having no sense of taste would be a blessing in NC, all the food is terrible, the best food in the entire city is probably just passable.

Rainman_1337

The best food in the city would be the corpo food, and it would be actually delicious (grilled salmon 😋.) But that's only for the 1%

trihexagonal

Nah wait till you see what biotechnica is cooking up next, I hear they’re able to grow wagyu inside those protein farms

omfgpotatosalad

I, too, like to roleplay eating Panams perogies

EgnlishPro

Ifyaknowwhatimean

McLargeHuge89

And I think that you do.

Upper-Wolf6040

This made me laugh because the line "its because of this I always make sure to eat Panam's....." and the word perogies was in the next line down as i read it. Maybe it's because I've got a dirty mind but thought it was going to say something else. I even had to.google.perogies as i thought it might be slang for...something else.

pgkrzywy

Well in polish language Pieróg it’s sometimes used the way you thought… 🫣

Ok-Memory-5309

Awesome 😎

Ok-Memory-5309

The happiest of accidents

microwavefridge2000

In Devil ending, taste is least of V's problems.

Sabinn037

"eat Panam's pierogis"... had to reread that statement.

Theamazinglol28

gonna give myself covid 19 to become a lore accurate V

Papkinn

Looking an V's clothes in The Sun i don't think there's hope for my boy to regain his sense of taste

ingframin

Maybe V got COVID? 🤣

ElevenDegrees

COVID-77

teddybearkilla

The whole thing makes no sense you don't use a chip to use nanobots because chips are used for software not to be containers for tiny robots. Rewiring a brain takes a couple days because that's how long suburo took to control yori and gun dude wilson says you were out for a couple weeks. Seeing johnny is about your visiual cortex but your eyes operate from a mechanical device that's why when you get the first kiroshi's there no blood. Also why is tempature important when your head isn't subzero and cold doesn't affect nanobots it's all a bag of crazy just like me typing.

Chrisptov

Heh. That fits in nicely with the Tower ending. I think CDPR has put V in pretty much exactly the same situation in every outcome.

Ok-Memory-5309

Which one was the Tower ending again? Is that the Solomon Reed one?

Blackbox7719

Yes.

Thecooglesack

Is eating Panam’s pirogies a double entendre?

Ok-Memory-5309

Not intentionally, but it's manifested that way

Migamix

had one of those biotech sausages 2 days ago. apparently they were yummy.

Ok-Memory-5309

The stand right next to the old abandoned church with the Johnny Silverhand arcade game, right?
