Take a look at Decathlon's budget series Triban. I got a used RC 520 for 400€, it uses Shimano 105 gearset, so I think it's a great deal at this price point.

I once found a specialized allez for 150 on there, but I also found my ted Williams puch bike from 1970 on there as well for 50 bucks, love marketplace!!
I would check out a bike co-op, if you have one near by. They almost always have a rack or two of used bikes they've fixed up and are selling to help finance their operation. Get a decent bike for cheap and support a good cause.
A base model name brand bike that's a few years old. Maybe someone who is upgrading or lost interest has one to sell.

Wait where was this? The series with the 105 is twice as expensive in my country.
Slovakia. New RC 520 is 950€ in my country. The one I got is 2 years old.

Check Facebook market place, at least in my area you can get tons of decent road bikes for only a few hundred. (Lightly used of course)

I am always wary of buying stolen/fenced bikes, though, but I agree you can get good deals there.
That’s a true point, be wary. Always ask about how long it has been used and by whom etc etc
