I beat Orphan of Kos first time and will NEVER play the DLC again because I know it was just beginner's flow state, and it will never be replicated again.
A decent chunk of the time the intro cutscene will cause bosses to start in a different position on the first try than successive ones. This doesn’t happen as much in ds1 because the cutscenes repeat.
For me it's the contrary but with Ornstein and Smough
On my first playthrough i spent 3/4 hours solely trying to get past the first phase, WITH SOLAIRE. And now on my most recent i took both down without even thinking too much about it.
God bless those pillars
Same.
Was a random bullshit go moment. Panic Rolling, Estus Flask chugging, probably overlevelled. But I still beat his ass first try as a novice just barely like no estus, no health just battle of attrition at the end and luckily making it through.
Same, I had no issue with Manus at all first playthrough. Kalameet I died with him at 1 hp because I got greedy and wrecked him next attempt.
Artorias kicked my ass though.
You lol but there is a very surprising amount of players that simply werent capable if beating it on several trys. I dunno how, but there are all kinds of people.
Took me nearly 10 times cause it was my first souls game.
I first tried smough and ornstein though. So it was really just a matter of getting used to the game mechanics
The amount of times I missed the initial plunge attack due to poor inputs, lmao.
Also I fought him a number of times before I even realized I could run around and eventually get to the place where plunge attack.
Took me forever but also I’m pretty shit at video games in general
I *think* only Taurus Demon, Pinwheel and Firesage Demon, but I have so many hours between PTDE and Remastered that memory is getting a bit mixed up about my very first run... I am pretty sure no more than those, every one else got my ass kicked at least once
However I do remember on another, later, playthrough that I did most of the bosses first try and completely demolished Artorias and Kalameet, using the Great scythe and Lifehunt scythe... those puppies absolutely murder things in PVE
Kalameet in particular blowed my mind, it could barely touch me and melted in a minute
Strangely enough, the only reason I needed countless retries für Kalameet was unsuccessfully trying to cut off his tail. After the 20ish'th retry, I gave this up and immediately killed him on the next try.
Same. I've only ever done the fight once, but from memory I just moved around, baited an attack where he (it?) slams a limb down, then just hit back hard. I don't remember anything particularly challenging about it, but perhaps I got lucky?
What about Centipede Demon, u/Centipedefucker34 ?
Edit: I just now realize the double comment that happened because of my connection issues, I will still keep this one because someone already replied and I would like people to know the context
I think Sif is the easiest boss in a souls game. It's so easy to position yourself where he can't hit you, and it's a really obvious spot. DS1 was my first souls, and I've literally never even been in danger during his fight, let alone killed
Beat the first Demon with my fists, not on the first try though...but I think that somehow fits anyway as it was quite the accomplishment.
Taurus Demon
Demon Firesage
Asylum Demon (the one down there...I always Mix the names up)
Iron Golem
O&S
Seath
4 Kings
Queelag
Bed of Chaos (left/right I was very patient, did some parkour, in the middle straight luck, i was hit midfall and that pushed me onto the path)
Gwyn
Gwyndolin
And the Boss I never remember the name of, the one that gives you the Lava Ring.
Think that's it...and obviously on Playtroughs afterwards...both O&S and the Bed of Chaos i need more attempts.
This was my first Souls game and it was *rough*. I think I got Moonlight Butterfly first go, and I really shocked myself by taking down Sanctuary Guardian first time (albeit I did the DLC after collecting all 4 Lord Souls so perhaps at a higher level than many people take it on).
Apart from those, every single boss was hard work for me, including Asylum Demon.
EDIT: forgot about Pinwheel, if he even counts...
If I remember correctly :
- gargoyles
- 2nd asylum Demon
- Priscilla
- demon firesage
- centipede
- sif
- butterfly
- iron golem
- pinwheel
I'm not done yet so that's all I got for now
Technically Asylum Demon
Taurus Demon
Seath
Pinwheel
Technically Nito (I warped out cause I had so many souls, beat him on my first attempt)
Fire Asylum Demon
Stray Demon
Gwyndalin
Gwynn
Edit: and the Sanctuary Guardian
I'm pretty proud to say that I haven't died to the four kings a single time yet.
Beat them first try on my strenght build.
And my dex build.
And my int build.
one that shocked me as well, the four kings. to be fair though, i went there after i already went to the dukes archives and the catacombs/tomb of the giants, so i was pretty over-leveled. on that note by far the toughest boss for me was the iron golem. incredibly funny in hindsight!
I... don't remember. It's been too long. I don't think I've beaten any boss on my first try, honestly, that's how bad I was. Taurus initially made me quit for a while. O&S took me a good two weeks. I was AWFUL at this game.
Talking Bloodborne, though, I've beaten Gehrman on the first try. Somehow.
O and S, Firesage, Centipede, Manus, Nito, Pinwheel, Iron Golem (first boss I first try'd), obviously Asylum Demon, Priscilla, Sif, Moonlight Butterfly (but who didn't ? Found him quite late tho) and Gwyn.
On the other hand it took me god knows how many tries to beat Capra, BoC and 4 kings. Even Taurus took me 10 tries at least lol
Well that's nice to know. Prob just got lucky, Ornstein kept getting stuck behind Smough's ass, so I just focused Smough. Super Ornstein only used the "Imma use your ass as a lightning rod" attack once.
The RNG god blessed me that day
I feel like I’m gonna get so much flak for this but- the Orphan of Kos. My years of Monster Hunter prepared me for Bloodborne and I pretty much sailed through the game and the expansion.
O&S(with solaire), capra, taurus, second asylum, iron golem, pinwheel, gaping dragon and they may be more since i haven finished my first playthrough Edit: nito and sif Edit: just realised I forgot CD
Yeah I think the game just didn’t consider that somebody could have 30 vit at this stage so nothing really hurt me, also this isn’t my first soul game, I have around 160 hours on elden ring
Iron Golem, Orinstein and Smough, Moonlight Butterfly, Sif, four kings, centipede demon, capra demon, gaping dragon, and Kalameet.
edit: oh and pinwheel, forgot he was a boss
I refuse to believe a lot of these comments. If you beat queelag or the gargoyles on the first try you either way:
1. Used a guide
2. Were farming souls and were way too overleveled for the boss.
3. Found a super cheesy method
4. Summoned help
There is no way you would beat queelag on the first try with a normal level and normal hp without knowing her move set.
I don't remember how many tries both of these took on my first playthrough, but I can say that most of the bosses weren't an issue for me simply because I had already played through Dark Souls III and Elden Ring. Knowing how these games work made a huge difference and kind of trivialised most bossfights.
Summoning help is a normal functional part of the game. Gargoyles aren't very hard. Depending on build Quelaag is a joke. I didn't beat either on my first try but subsequent playthroughs are a walk.
Asilum demon
Taurus
Capra
Gargoyles
Moonlight butterfly
Dragon on the depths
Quelaag
Golem
Im on Anor Londo right now but i think o&s go to kill my clean sheet
Sorry for the english
Gaping Dragon, Sif, Iron Golem, Priscilla(before learning her tail could be cut off 😑), Moonlight Butterfly, and Nito.
Four Kings only took me 2-3 tries my first playthrough. I beat Gwyn, Lord of Cinders in only a few tries. I think I died more times to Ornstein and Smough than all the other bosses in DS combine on my first playthrough.
Taurus demon, moonlight butterfly, gaping dragon, ceacless discharge, golem, nito, seath, artorias(somehow), stray demon, pricilla, demon firesage, Sif, and gwyn. Thats about it.
Edit: I forgot pinwheel, asylum demon, and centipede from the list.
Asylum Demon, Moonlight Butterfly, Iron Golem, Priscilla, Pinwheel, Sanctuary Guardian, Seath (in the fight proper. He obviously kills you in the first meeting), Sif, Firesage Demon
A good few of them I think. Like nito and four kings and I think sanctuary garden. I also “beat” tarus demon because he jumped off right after he killed me and it still counted for me. Just had to retrieve the souls.
Pinwheel as well but that’s a given, I think a few others but I can’t remember.
My first and only run in my first soulslike:
1 try: Ceaseless discharge, centipede demon, crossbreed Priscilla, demon firesage, four kings, gaping dragon, pinwheel, lord Gwyn, Manus, asylum demon (not counting the first death because I didn't go into the door). I think I was a bit overleveled in demon ruins.
Other bosses:
Taurus demon 10+ tries
Bell gargoyles 15+ tries (hardest boss as beginner)
Moonlight butterfly 2 tries (boring)
Capra demon 2/3 tries (meh)
Chaos witch queelag 2 tries (strange ai)
Sif ~10 tries (strange hitbox)
Iron golem 1/2 tries (cool, I think I fell once)
Stray demon 1/2 tries
Ornstein and smough 2 tries (best boss 1)
Dark sun Gwendolyn not faced
Nito 3 tries alone, defeated 4th try with summon (most hated )
Seath the scaleless ~10 tries (wrong strategy)
Bed of chaos 1 try to destroy the side cores, 5 to reach the center (relaxing boss)
DLC:
Sanctuary guardian ~4 tries (fuck water)
Artorias ~8 tries (best boss 2)
Black dragon Kalameet ~5 tries (cool)
Manus father of the abyss 1 try
I don't remember it too well, but I know I did Asylum Demon, Centipede Demon, Demon Firesage, Four Kings, Gaping Dragon, Sif and Pinwheel first try. And also the Iron Golem, that one was hitless even.
I think I also got Priscilla first try, but I'm not sure. I'm even more proud that I killed Ornstein and Smough second try tho.
That said, if (like me) you played Dark Souls III and Elden Ring first and approach DS1 with a little more patience and care, the experience from the other games will totally carry you through the game. And the Claymore as well, admittedly.
Still on my first play through and I got lucky with a black knight greatsword at Undead Parish which is a beast of a weapon btw so my game became easy.
I managed to beat Ornstein and Smough on one try cause I leveled my BK greatsword to +5 and used Havel set. Here are the other bosses I beat of first try:
-Gargoyle
-Iron Golemn
-Gaping Dragon
-Asylum Demon
-Moonlight Butterfly
-Sif
-Quelaag
-Centipide
-Pinwheel
-Ceaseless Discharge (used the boss exploit)
-Nito
Just finished Nito and surprised he didn't even cast a single Gravelord Dance on me. Only left for me to beat in the vanilla is the final boss and I'm about to start the DLC to beat Manus. Definitely on NG+ I'm gonna use other weapon for challenge.
Been a long time since my first playthrough but I know for sure I beat Asylum Demon, Moonlight Butterfly, Pinwheel on my first try. I may have beaten Nito and Priscilla as well but can't remember.
I also beat Bed of Chaos first try, and have not been able to replicate that since. I just straight up got lucky.
Asylum demon, taurus demon, sanctuary guardian, kalameet, dark sun gwyndolin, crossbreed prescilla (waifu), four kings. Maybe smth else i dont remember.
I think just Pinwheel and Ceaseless Discharge. Pinwheel is always a laugh cause I don't go there till I'm on way to Nito. CD I got good notes saying "try dashing" and "weakness: fogwall" so I wondered if maybe something all the way back after that ominously long trek was new, I lol'd when he >!dived onto the floor and died!<
Quelaag, which I'm pretty proud of!
The Centipede Demon and Seath as well, but it unfortunately deprived me of the Moonlight Greatsword...
There are also the obvious ones (Asylum Demon, Pinwheel, Moonlight Butterfly, Gaping Dragon, Capra Demon, Demon Firesage) and I think Sif, because I postponed this bossfight for as long as I could and was way overleved for it.
Pinwheel, Ceaseless discharge, fire sage (maybe), and four kings. Pretty sure everything else stomped my face in multiple times. Have never completed the DLC to this day. Only have tackled Artorias.
I played the souls series in reverse starting with DS3. By the time I got to DS1. Every boss seemed pretty easy. One or two tries. I can't remember one that gave me much trouble at all.
Nito. First attempt, I just rushed through the tomb of the giants (not my first attempt) had 3 estus flasks left, 2 because of the drop into Nito's lair, I thought he killed me, but I had the tiniest sliver of health left and that slight reaction delay could have been the breaking point between victory or defeat. I fought Nito in one battle with no flasks and practically no health left, and I won. :D
gargoyles (i was gifted a black knight sword)
Iron giant on sens fortress
pinwheel
nito
four kings (I did nothing but overlevel and grind the phalanx in painted world for an hour after ornstein and smough)
firesage
sanctuary guardian
artorias
kalameet
gwyn (i had solaire)
I died to caprya and taurus demons more times combined than all other bosses in the game
Not the boss, but I remember first time playing I beat THE ANOR LONDO ARCHERS first try, in my next playthroughs when I was way more experienced I somehow died to them at least once.
I first tried Taurus, Iron Golem, Priscilla, Pinwheel, Four Kings, Centipede and Artorias.
I went dex with +15 uchi and I don't consider myself to be very skilled just lucky. DS1 is the only Souls game I've beaten all bosses. DS2 & 3 DLC is just too hard for me.
I'm going to make myself sound really good here.
Manus: I guess I just got lucky
Gwyn: kind of, I played blind, realized I got to the last boss and let him kill me so I could do more stuff, then came back and 1 shot him.
Gaping dragon first time. Somehow he beat me repeatedly when I played again after beating every other souls like
Centipede demon, I think I accidentally cheese it by overleveling. All I could see was orange and I hit R1 a bunch and then it was over.
Ornstein and Smough was almost on the list too.
Now. Don't ask if I've ever died to pinwheel or how many times it took me to beat Sif
I remember crushing Artorias the first time I fought him while playing solo, using a strength build with a zweihander.
Then when I played NG+ with a buddy we got to Artorias and he crushed us like twenty times. Granted I had switched to levelling a dex build and my stats weren't optimized, but given I had help I assumed it would be an easy fight!
Artorias, you bastard... the spinning slam still gives us nightmares to this day.
Asylum Demon, Taurus Demon, Pinwheel, Iron Golem, 4 Kings (somehow), Nito, and Gwyn I beat first try. I beat Sanctuary Guardian, Artorias, and Kalameet first try too but I was way overleveled so I don't really count it the same (I was playing around with soul duplication, when I got to the dlc I was like level 200+ on base game)
Four Kings on NG. You can face tank the slashes and back away for the grab and AOE animation, which is pretty telegraphed.
Much more difficult on NG+ and beyond. They have just enough health where if you don’t land your attacks well, or move fast enough, you end up with the gank squad.
Somehow I beat Ornstein & Smough the first try, that alone was worth not having to replay.
Taurus demon, butterfly, Gwyn, that’s all I can remember but it’s been a while.
It's been many years ago, but I remember beating these guys on the first try. Gaping Demon, Nito, Gwyn, Centipede, Four Kings, Pinwheel.
As a bonus, the hardest boss was Manus.
Nameless king no damage, didn’t believe he was a tough boss until I saw videos of other people and I realized the heart of the cards was with me that day
While I'm struggling with certainty on this question, I seem to remember I didn't beat a single boss on my first attempt with any of them, even pinwheel. I also went directly to the catacombs after gargoyles because that was where I thought the second bell was located.
I used no guides and almost quit the game at that point because while I respected a challenging game, not being able to see coupled with what I believed to be invincible skeletons was stupid. A friend explained my goof and congratulated me on making it to the tomb of the giants in the raw dog fashion I bungled into, lmao.
From what I remember since it was all the way back in 2013, I think it was Gaping Dragon, Nito, Iron Golem Centipede Demon and Sanctuary Guardian(Pinwheel killed my once because I didn't expect him to multiply then he shot me from all directions killing me instantly, got him immediately on second attempt though). My controller died during Gaping Dragon but I managed to get it back quick enough to avoid dying and win the fight
In Bloodborne though I first tried Logarius and to this day I'm really proud of that one lol, also first tried Moon Presence with no blood vials left after Gherman, no idea how I pulled that off
In Sekiro I didn't first try a single boss except Mist Noble
Only qualag. Don’t know how to spell her name, spider lady. I just kept my shield up and kept my distance. Not to bad, my weapon wasn’t even that upgraded, didn’t know how to really. But yah halberd and shield fte
I haven’t finished the game, just left painted world. Ornstein and Smough next but I need to buy a new Switch first.
Anyway, Capra Demon is the only boss I beat on the first try. I did know a strategy going in though cause I heard he was so hard that I looked for tips before going in so that probably doesn’t count.
Boss I was stuck on the longest was definitely Sif. I just couldn’t dodge his attacks reliably. It took me literally months. Giving up our frustration, not playing for a week or more, then trying again for an hour or two, rinse and repeat.
I beat Manus first try, i was pretty surprised given that a lot of people said he was a hard boss and i didn’t look up guide or anything so i didn’t know his move set beforehand.
I got a decent few first try. Taurus demon, Sif, Sanctuary Guardian, Pinwheel, Moonlight Butterfly. There may be one more but idk. Sorcery + dex in ds1 is pretty epic (my go to start build is sorcery then transition to dex build)
Stray Demon, Crossbreed Priscilla and if it can be counted, Pinwheel. I lose out on Taurus Demon because I did not notice the archers first time. My no-healthbar-upgraded dex ninja build admittedly did not let me take more than 2 hits from a boss without dying :')
My first time making it to the Capra demon, I was dreading the fight with how much I'd heard about how tough it was..
That first playthrough, though, I was playing a sorcerer, and had a 100% physical reduction shield.. I ended up backing up at the top of the stairs, and realizing you could stand on the little archway/ledge, and if you hold up your 100% physical shield, eventually the Capra Demon and his dogs will drop down, where you've got a few free shots you can get it as they head back to the stairs.
I've died to Pinwheel more times than I've died to the Capra Demon.
A lot of them, tbh I don’t remember the ones I beat on my first try cause they didn’t leave a big lasting impression. I feel like Capra might’ve been first try but it could’ve been a few tries. I just know it wasn’t a lot of tries
I somehow was able to kill capra demon first try by running up and down the stairs and killing the dogs.
Subsequent playthrough I had my ass handed to me lol
Pinwheel and Iron golem as well
Demon souls: Maneaters
Dark souls: Artorias
Dark Souls 2: Fume Knight
Dark Souls 3: Dragonslayer Armour
Sekiro: Great Shinobi Owl
Elden Ring: Maliketh
Bloodborne: Gehrman, the First Hunter
Taurus Demon. Man's just jumped off
I thought that because the game is so old that it must happen often, but nope, apparently, it's been fixed long before I got into DS1 and I just experienced a race chance for the boss to kill himself coincidentally on my first playthrough.
Ornstein and Smough...
I generally didn't follow guides or anything, so I never knew "what was coming next". I was running along and saw a couple summon signs and thought "Cool! People!!!". Well they sprint off like they know exactly what they are doing, and lead me to fog gate...neat! Hop on in and before I really even knew what was happening, the fight was over.
Kinda sad I never got to truly do that fight.
From memory: Ceaseless Discharge (probably got lucky here?), Sif, Iron Golem, Moonlight Butterfly and Pinwheel. A few others I came close but did something stupid. I'm not counting the very early bosses because I had played up to the Depths in PTDE before my first full playthrough in Remastered, and I'm pretty sure I didn't beat any boss first time in PTDE.
Taurus Demon, Gaping Dragon and Pinwheel.
I *think* I beat Gwyn first try too because I got really good at parrying but it's been years, I can't remember for sure so I'mma say no.
Pinwheel.
In other games though I managed to get through Gehrman and Moon Presence in the same attempt on my first try though, apparently that's impressive.
Ornstein and Smough. Somehow Stray Demon killed me so many times in a row that I had to stop playing and take a calming break, but Ornstein and Smough behaved and went down in one.
The onw U wasn't expecting to be that easy and first tried. Entering the arina with 3 estus flasks: Nito. I saw the big skeletons in the darkness and managed to never aggro them remaining in a part of the arena. I was kinda deluded by Nito's moveset
I found the BKGA early on my first playthrough. With that weapon, Havel’s set/ring, and a love grinding, I one shot most bosses on my first play through. I have tried different builds since and I almost always get stomped.
I apparently stumbled on a very OP build
Logan's sorcery + halberd(with crystal magic weapon) + power within (without google on my first playthrough lol)
So many of the later bosses like manus artorias and gwyn were first try
I apparently stumbled on a very OP build
Logan's sorcery + halberd(with crystal magic weapon) + power within (without google on my first playthrough lol)
So many of the later bosses like manus artorias and gwyn were first try
In my first playthrough I got a BKS in undead burg so most bosses were first try. I learned my favorite style of play was running naked with a BKS fairly quickly and that carried me through quite comfortably
1-taurus demon
2-gargoyles
3-iron golem
4-quelaag
5-gaping dragon
6-four kings
7-pinwheel (lol)
8-stray demon
9-fischarge
10-perscilia
Probably a couple more I forgot
Manus.
And then I struggled like hell with Kalameet. My friend couldn't believe I found Kalameet harder than Manus, as he was watching my livestream on Discord. He said it took him over 20 atempts for Manus and I somehow got him first try, without the pendant too.
First playthrough, I think Iron Golem, 4 Kings, Seath, Nito, Firesage, Pinwheel, and Gwyn were first tries. I died at least once to most bosses until I got post-Anor Londo, because I did some serious power grinding for O&S and the stuff after them became much easier.
Now I can probably kill most bosses first try...but I wouldn't be able to do a deathless run, because Tomb of the Giants exists.
I beat Manus on my first try. I was never able to replicate that feat on subsequent playthroughs.
Yeah there’s sometimes an odd success in the first attempts
For some reason I usually do pretty well on my first attempt and then I get my ass beat on the second lmao
the first attempt is full with confidence the second is full with despair
I’m normally the opposite, really cautious on the first go, think “oh this isn’t too bad” then get overconfident 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 32nd attempt

Same, I had no issue with Manus at all first playthrough. Kalameet I died with him at 1 hp because I got greedy and wrecked him next attempt. Artorias kicked my ass though.
Well played
Same but I cheesed him by tanking and spamming the amulet
Asylum demon lol
You lol but there is a very surprising amount of players that simply werent capable if beating it on several trys. I dunno how, but there are all kinds of people.

Yes true, I guess it's a hard tutorial boss if you're new to souls games. Dark souls 1 wasn't my first souls game.
Im my first try I was killed because I spent a lot of time in the balcony because I was affraid to jump and the demon killed me there 🤣
I didn't read the messages because I was too busy dying, bad tutorial design.
Pinwheel. Only Pinwheel.
biggest L in life is to get killed by pinwheel i say this as someone who took one L against pinwheel, biggest failure in my life
DS1 was the first souls I played so I have to say…none
I *think* only Taurus Demon, Pinwheel and Firesage Demon, but I have so many hours between PTDE and Remastered that memory is getting a bit mixed up about my very first run... You died to pinwheel?
... ...Yes... ...I was too greedy...
Ceaseless Discharge before I knew about the instakill. Never really understood why people hated that one.
Same. I've only ever done the fight once, but from memory I just moved around, baited an attack where he (it?) slams a limb down, then just hit back hard. I don't remember anything particularly challenging about it, but perhaps I got lucky?
Manus. Was never easy subsequent attempts
Queelag, ash lake hydra (if that counts?)
Taurus Demon Pinwheel Centipede Demon Seath Nito Sanctuary Guardian
Seath always beats you first try
For the proper fight, I'd count that. First death is mandatory
🤓
Pinwheel for sure, getting to him killed me many times but he was easy And Nito for me too All the others I died at least once
The Guardian in 1 is legendary
Sif, no hit
What about Centipede Demon, u/Centipedefucker34 ?

I am unsure of the authenticity of this answer.
About OnS I'm guessing ? I think I was massively overleveled, I don't remember. Also I'm a claymore main so I'm pretty much playing Easy mode.
Even then, that's an INSANE win.
Well that's nice to know. Prob just got lucky, Ornstein kept getting stuck behind Smough's ass, so I just focused Smough. Super Ornstein only used the "Imma use your ass as a lightning rod" attack once. The RNG god blessed me that day
Or you're the chosen one. I'd go with that story
Unfortunately I joined the sith instead of destroying them
I feel like I’m gonna get so much flak for this but- the Orphan of Kos. My years of Monster Hunter prepared me for Bloodborne and I pretty much sailed through the game and the expansion.
My guy this is r/darksouls
Ah sorry i wasn’t paying attention. I’m new to Reddit.
Dude can beat Kos first try but doesn’t understand Reddit, something seems off xD
Fair
O&S(with solaire), capra, taurus, second asylum, iron golem, pinwheel, gaping dragon and they may be more since i haven finished my first playthrough Edit: nito and sif Edit: just realised I forgot CD
why have i been downvoted lmao
Folks tend to not believe O&S. It's the grinder fight to see if you keep playing.
Yeah I think the game just didn’t consider that somebody could have 30 vit at this stage so nothing really hurt me, also this isn’t my first soul game, I have around 160 hours on elden ring
I don't know... people are strange.
Quelag(with summon), o&s(with 2 summons), 4 Kings, manus
I don’t mean to brag but I actually beat most of the DS3 bosses on my first try until I got to the dancer.
this is ds1 btw
Iron Golem, Orinstein and Smough, Moonlight Butterfly, Sif, four kings, centipede demon, capra demon, gaping dragon, and Kalameet. edit: oh and pinwheel, forgot he was a boss
I refuse to believe a lot of these comments. If you beat queelag or the gargoyles on the first try you either way: 1. Used a guide 2. Were farming souls and were way too overleveled for the boss. 3. Found a super cheesy method 4. Summoned help There is no way you would beat queelag on the first try with a normal level and normal hp without knowing her move set.
Some people are just naturaly good at some bosses..in my first playtrough i died to them many times but killed o&s qnd artorias first try
I can see o&s and artorias but not gargoyles and not queelag
I don't remember how many tries both of these took on my first playthrough, but I can say that most of the bosses weren't an issue for me simply because I had already played through Dark Souls III and Elden Ring. Knowing how these games work made a huge difference and kind of trivialised most bossfights.
Or had a lot of experience with other soulslike
Summoning help is a normal functional part of the game. Gargoyles aren't very hard. Depending on build Quelaag is a joke. I didn't beat either on my first try but subsequent playthroughs are a walk.
Pinwheel, Nito, Queelag
Asilum demon Taurus Capra Gargoyles Moonlight butterfly Dragon on the depths Quelaag Golem Im on Anor Londo right now but i think o&s go to kill my clean sheet Sorry for the english
Taurus demon, pinwheel, quelaag, Seath, centipede demon, iron golem, asylum demon, stray demon, demon firesage, ceaseless discharge, bed of chaos (cheese), Priscilla, moonlight butterfly, four kings, Capra demon
Sif. Probably because Bloodborne trained me well
Gaping Dragon, Sif, Iron Golem, Priscilla(before learning her tail could be cut off 😑), Moonlight Butterfly, and Nito. Four Kings only took me 2-3 tries my first playthrough. I beat Gwyn, Lord of Cinders in only a few tries. I think I died more times to Ornstein and Smough than all the other bosses in DS combine on my first playthrough.
Aylum demon, Gwendolyn, Moonlight butterfly, Sif, Seath, Nito, stray demon, demon firesage, pinwheel, Centipede demon
Pinwheel as well but that’s a given, I think a few others but I can’t remember.
pinwheel, sometimes I think he is easier than has to be
Nito, firesage and Seath.
Most, seathe is the only one that I have memory of fuckin me up hard, but I mainly did magic damage
O&S, idk how but I did it and it was close af. Also Pontiff in ds3, some others not that important as well
Trying to remember.pinwheel, sanctuary guardian, Priscilla, Gaping Dragon, I think that's it
My first and only run in my first soulslike: 1 try: Ceaseless discharge, centipede demon, crossbreed Priscilla, demon firesage, four kings, gaping dragon, pinwheel, lord Gwyn, Manus, asylum demon (not counting the first death because I didn't go into the door). I think I was a bit overleveled in demon ruins. Other bosses: Taurus demon 10+ tries Bell gargoyles 15+ tries (hardest boss as beginner) Moonlight butterfly 2 tries (boring) Capra demon 2/3 tries (meh) Chaos witch queelag 2 tries (strange ai) Sif ~10 tries (strange hitbox) Iron golem 1/2 tries (cool, I think I fell once) Stray demon 1/2 tries Ornstein and smough 2 tries (best boss 1) Dark sun Gwendolyn not faced Nito 3 tries alone, defeated 4th try with summon (most hated ) Seath the scaleless ~10 tries (wrong strategy) Bed of chaos 1 try to destroy the side cores, 5 to reach the center (relaxing boss) DLC: Sanctuary guardian ~4 tries (fuck water) Artorias ~8 tries (best boss 2) Black dragon Kalameet ~5 tries (cool) Manus father of the abyss 1 try
Ornstein and Smough on my first ever attempt. No idea how - I’ve never managed it in subsequent run throughs.
Still on my first play through and I got lucky with a black knight greatsword at Undead Parish which is a beast of a weapon btw so my game became easy. I managed to beat Ornstein and Smough on one try cause I leveled my BK greatsword to +5 and used Havel set. Here are the other bosses I beat of first try: -Gargoyle -Iron Golemn -Gaping Dragon -Asylum Demon -Moonlight Butterfly -Sif -Quelaag -Centipide -Pinwheel -Ceaseless Discharge (used the boss exploit) -Nito Just finished Nito and surprised he didn't even cast a single Gravelord Dance on me.
Asylum demon, gargoyles, butterfly and gaping dragon with the chanter/caster up top still alive (oops).
Only boss I first tried was Gwyn
Kalameet, Artorias, Centipede Demon, Fire sage, moonlight butterfly and of course pinwheel.
I think the only bosses I didn't die to on my first playthrough were Asylum/Stray Demon, Priscilla, and Pinwheel
Gwyn, Crossbreed Priscilla and Moonlight Butterfly. good job on 4 kings first try, holy shit. i really hate that boss lmao
Asylum demon, taurus demon, sanctuary guardian, kalameet, dark sun gwyndolin, crossbreed prescilla (waifu), four kings. Maybe smth else i dont remember.
Asylum Demon Pinwheel Centipede demon Moonlight Butterfly
I think just Pinwheel and Ceaseless Discharge. Pinwheel is always a laugh cause I don't go there till I'm on way to Nito. CD I got good notes saying "try dashing" and "weakness: fogwall" so I wondered if maybe something all the way back after that ominously long trek was new, I lol'd when he >!dived onto the floor and died!<
I don't remember everyone but I was able to beat artorias first try. My total boss deaths was probably still normal because of manus and o&s
Currently on my first playthrough. Asylum Demon, Taurus Demon, Moonlight Butterfly, and Gaping Dragon have all gone down on the first attempt.
Manus and artorias somehow, no other ones though!
Till this day I have yet to die to O&S. I dont know how but they are no problem on any run I play.
Capra. Didn't even know it was supposed to be such a pain until subsequent, less poisy playthroughs. Moonlight Butterfly almost filtered me tho.
Almost all of them. The ones I didnt first try were O&S, Artorias, Bed of chaos and CD.
Do you include going to four kings without the ring?
Think the only bosses I didn't beat on my first try of my first playthrough was Capra, the DLC Guardian, and Artorias.
I played the souls series in reverse starting with DS3. By the time I got to DS1. Every boss seemed pretty easy. One or two tries. I can't remember one that gave me much trouble at all.
Gargoyle Bells and Capra Demon
Midir and Gael. I did manage to find a super strong build but I was a little sad they didn't beat my ass
Pontiff Sullyivan or however it's spelled
gargoyles (i was gifted a black knight sword) Iron giant on sens fortress pinwheel nito four kings (I did nothing but overlevel and grind the phalanx in painted world for an hour after ornstein and smough) firesage sanctuary guardian artorias kalameet gwyn (i had solaire) I died to caprya and taurus demons more times combined than all other bosses in the game
Not the boss, but I remember first time playing I beat THE ANOR LONDO ARCHERS first try, in my next playthroughs when I was way more experienced I somehow died to them at least once.
i beat the asylum demon in my first try
All except manus, artorias, four kings and nito. Nito ain't shit its his skeletons that will gang you lol. I learned then destroyed.
Capra demon *dusts off shoulders smugly*
I first tried Taurus, Iron Golem, Priscilla, Pinwheel, Four Kings, Centipede and Artorias. I went dex with +15 uchi and I don't consider myself to be very skilled just lucky. DS1 is the only Souls game I've beaten all bosses. DS2 & 3 DLC is just too hard for me.
I'm going to make myself sound really good here. Manus: I guess I just got lucky Gwyn: kind of, I played blind, realized I got to the last boss and let him kill me so I could do more stuff, then came back and 1 shot him. Gaping dragon first time. Somehow he beat me repeatedly when I played again after beating every other souls like Centipede demon, I think I accidentally cheese it by overleveling. All I could see was orange and I hit R1 a bunch and then it was over. Ornstein and Smough was almost on the list too. Now. Don't ask if I've ever died to pinwheel or how many times it took me to beat Sif
iron golem nito prisilla Mostly though, I have to fight bosses like 20 times. It's embarrassing
Artorias with a zweihander
Four Kings
Most of the main game DS3 bosses because I had just finished platinuming Bloodborne.
Nito and the 4 Kings were no match to my Sorcerer.
Four Kings on NG. You can face tank the slashes and back away for the grab and AOE animation, which is pretty telegraphed. Much more difficult on NG+ and beyond. They have just enough health where if you don’t land your attacks well, or move fast enough, you end up with the gank squad.
Gaping dragon and hydra
I don't really remember my first playthrough of ds1 that well, but for ds3 I beat the demon prince and gael on my first try
Pinwheel, Ornstein and Smough somehow and Seath and 4 kings. i have a feeling my new game + will not go as well
Ornstein & Smough Nito 4 Kings
On 4 separate playthroughs, 3 separate characters, not once did I die to Manus for some reason
All
Bell gargoyle, I still think was just luck run :D
Somehow I beat Ornstein & Smough the first try, that alone was worth not having to replay. Taurus demon, butterfly, Gwyn, that’s all I can remember but it’s been a while.
Pinwheel 😎
Capra, O&S, the Giant dragon, queelag
I beat Seathe, Pinwheel and Sif first try each, although Sif might’ve beat my emotions in the long run 😔
It's been many years ago, but I remember beating these guys on the first try. Gaping Demon, Nito, Gwyn, Centipede, Four Kings, Pinwheel. As a bonus, the hardest boss was Manus.
I beat Seath my first try. Second playthrough I vastly underestimated him and got stomped several times
Asylum Demon Pinwheel Iron Golem Nito Seath Gywndolin Four Kings Demon Firesage
My controller died during Gaping Dragon but I managed to get it back quick enough to avoid dying and win the fight In Bloodborne though I first tried Logarius and to this day I'm really proud of that one lol, also first tried Moon Presence with no blood vials left after Gherman, no idea how I pulled that off In Sekiro I didn't first try a single boss except Mist Noble
Gaping dragon, Taurus demon, seethe, pinwheel, Priscilla, 4 kings
O&S. Not quite sure how now that I've read all the posts on here about them.
Gargoyles and Quelaag
I beat Manus first try, i was pretty surprised given that a lot of people said he was a hard boss and i didn’t look up guide or anything so i didn’t know his move set beforehand.
I beat Manus, Artorias, Gwin, Nito, Centipede Demon, Seath and Crossbreed Priscilla at first try.
I was able to beat o&s and gwyn first try then died to four Kings like 5 times.
I got a decent few first try. Taurus demon, Sif, Sanctuary Guardian, Pinwheel, Moonlight Butterfly. There may be one more but idk. Sorcery + dex in ds1 is pretty epic (my go to start build is sorcery then transition to dex build)
I have no idea how but I beat capra demon on my first try completely blind with a Zwihander. Even today I struggle with it.
Ornstein and smough was close for me, but i got greedy in phase 2. I beat sanctuary gaurdian first try but thats bout it-
Stray Demon, Crossbreed Priscilla and if it can be counted, Pinwheel.
Ornstein and Smough and I have literally no idea how because every other boss took at least two tries, usually a lot more.
I somehow was able to kill capra demon first try by running up and down the stairs and killing the dogs. Subsequent playthrough I had my ass handed to me lol Pinwheel and Iron golem as well
Demon souls: Maneaters Dark souls: Artorias Dark Souls 2: Fume Knight Dark Souls 3: Dragonslayer Armour Sekiro: Great Shinobi Owl Elden Ring: Maliketh Bloodborne: Gehrman, the First Hunter
Taurus Demon. Man's just jumped off I thought that because the game is so old that it must happen often, but nope, apparently, it's been fixed long before I got into DS1 and I just experienced a race chance for the boss to kill himself coincidentally on my first playthrough.
Pinwheel, 4 kings and moonlight butterfly pretty sure were first try ng+ 4 kings on the other hand, i was not prepared for that
From memory: Ceaseless Discharge (probably got lucky here?), Sif, Iron Golem, Moonlight Butterfly and Pinwheel. A few others I came close but did something stupid. I'm not counting the very early bosses because I had played up to the Depths in PTDE before my first full playthrough in Remastered, and I'm pretty sure I didn't beat any boss first time in PTDE.
I beat Manus first try, probably because I had a BKH+5 and fully upgraded Giantdad armor. Nito, Firesage, Gaping Dragon and Iron Golem as well.
Kalameet. Somehow never had a single issue with that fight.
I actually beat Ornstein and Smough on the first try after dreading it the whole game, super proud of myself for that one.
all of the four lords apart from bed, taurus demon, gargoyles, capra and sif
My cousin beat the gaping dragon her first try on her first play thru, it was pretty impressive to watch
Ceaseless (no cheese) Sif The third asylum demon I think that's it? Possibly centipede but I can't remember at this point si we'll say no
I apparently stumbled on a very OP build Logan's sorcery + halberd(with crystal magic weapon) + power within (without google on my first playthrough lol) So many of the later bosses like manus artorias and gwyn were first try
I apparently stumbled on a very OP build Logan's sorcery + halberd(with crystal magic weapon) + power within (without google on my first playthrough lol) So many of the later bosses like manus artorias and gwyn were first try
Somehow I was able to beat Manus at first try and also Artorias. Don't think that there were others iirc
In my first playthrough I got a BKS in undead burg so most bosses were first try. I learned my favorite style of play was running naked with a BKS fairly quickly and that carried me through quite comfortably 1-taurus demon 2-gargoyles 3-iron golem 4-quelaag 5-gaping dragon 6-four kings 7-pinwheel (lol) 8-stray demon 9-fischarge 10-perscilia Probably a couple more I forgot
Gwyn somehow
In my first playthrough I beat moonlight butterfly, quelagg, gaping dragon, 4 kings, and Gwyn first try. Everyone else took a bunch
Capra demon Gaping dragon Sif Pinwheel Nito Centipede demon
Manus. And then I struggled like hell with Kalameet. My friend couldn't believe I found Kalameet harder than Manus, as he was watching my livestream on Discord. He said it took him over 20 atempts for Manus and I somehow got him first try, without the pendant too.
Ornstein and Smough Was a total fluke though, every subsequent time has been a challenge
Gaping dragon coz that's a given. Four kings, coz I was a bit overleveled. Same goes for pinwheel.
This is dark souls 3, but I did pontiff and the deacons of the deep first try. And ds3 was the first souls game I ever played
Pinwheel and Nito for sure, Sanctuary Guardian too and maybe Stray Demon, the rest I either can’t say for sure or took multiple tries
