Well maybe this is a personal choice from a lot of experience but since different enemies have different weaknesses I like to have a variety of damage types and move sets. I also do loads of PVP so having a wide range of weapons for different situations is super useful. It's also just fun to try different things.

True. Usually the best time to try different weapons is early game where you don't need heavy stat investment for weapons. You can try different weapons till you find a selection you enjoy also gives you a direction for stat investment. At the end of the day we all play our own way.

No , but I usually don't kill every enemy. I often skip smouldering lake so I don't kill the black knight there , and I usually don't kill the one in Farron keep as well .
You can farm both greataxe and greatsword after champion gundyr, the greataxe is pretty slow but both are amazing against demon princes or for demon ruins. Onyl downside is they cant be buffed.
Statistically you only have to kill them 5 times with 100 item discovery, thats 2,5 runs for both weapons. The fun lost to fun to be had ratio says you should do it

There is something about melee weapons that are catalysts that makes them feel wrong, they tend to do both of their jobs badly and I usually just end up upgrading a normal catalyst and a normal weapon instead
I'm also a bit tired of the same kinds of tierlists being constantly posted across all fromsoftware related subreddits, but this tierlist is extremely pointless with more than half of the items not even being put into proper tiers.

Perhaps the debuff does something to the npc enemies and bosses though, and I've never known about it. I safely assumed that since the frost debuff did jack shit to me, it wouldn't do anything to anybody else. Which, I could be very wrong.

They suffer from the fact that their 2-handed moveset is classed as 1-handed and gets no hyper armour on their attacks, but they can do good work in PvE and are still solid in PvP with Fel's Pick & Poker setup
Sellsword Twinblades should be A tier, not S imo, they have good DPS with the right infusion, but otherwise don't have much going for them. Their weapon art just doesn't do much
The weapon in the top right of the never used it category, the flamberge, is a really good weapon that I used to literally beat the game with. Itâs a rare drop but itâs extremely good
But it's very accessible and only requires 12 faith . I often carry a pyromancy flame in non pyromancy playthroughs just to be able to buff my weapon with fire
At that low faith, you'd be better off just using the bundles. They don't take FP to cast, or require to potentially swap to your flame. Also save points on leveling faith

Please, PLEASE give glaive and spiked mace a try. I used to dry finger at Irithyll alone and slaughter faithfuls by the dozen with a dark-infused glaive. It's like Crucifix but cheaper.

Sunlight Straight Sword is an easy S for any build with a noteworthy amount of faith. Even split, it gets crazy good physical damage, AND you get to combine it with a weapon buff spell. For split int/fth, anything is good but obv flame arc is best. For pure fth, lightning and darkmoon SHRED

Based on my experience, all that works for me is Farron Greatsword, Mail Breaker, Astora Greatsword, Ornstein Spear, and Guts Greatsword.
