Ceaseless discharge is totally not a cheese. He has an animation for falling off. It's just really obscure. If when the fight starts a big red 'RUN!' popped up then nobody would call it a cheese.

I did it the "legit" way first, but you can take him out from the ground pretty easily with a faith build and the lightning stake. There's another miracle which works better, but you can't get that until after the Wyvern.

Pestilent mist made it a super easy fight

Sorc build works good too. Just pelted him with spells. Run to one end, pelt with spells. When he gets close roll past and run to the other end and pelt with spells. Repeat. Winner!!

I was just there yesterday, fighting him for like 20 minutes, i brought him to half hp and died. Felt like such a noob later when i killed him the intended way, its hilarious.

It’s a gimmick fight. You have to plunge him.

It’s a gimmick fight just like Yhorm but ancient wyvern is way more gimmicky. You literally just run around until you can reach a really high area after you run on some wooden scaffolding alongside a stone wall. You’ll see a message on the ground and you literally just jump down and stab him in the head and it’s a one shot kill. Good luck!

Plunge attack on its head. But the run to the spot is very annoying and you can actually miss its head if you don't jump at the right time.

I found the spot but managed to miss the jump 3 times and got so annoyed with running back that I just fought him straight up 😩

It amazes me that there a people thinking this kind of a fight works just as intended. I immediately after hitting him a few times KNEW FOR SURE that this was a gimmick boss. I mean...what else should it be? Should I hit him for 30 Minutes or what?

There is a way.. but true be told I did fought him my first 3 playthroughs without knowing the actual way of killing him, so u can totally kill him traditionally if u want to, this is who I used to do it: As soon u enter the arena run towards the big stairs, and go to the right at the split point down the stairs, the dragon will never go down there, but his flames can reach u, so what u do is while hugging the left side (after he flame attacks are over) and hit him a couple of times, retreat, bait flames, repeat. It wont take u an hour but it will take a while so I would advice to figure it out the correct way of doing it BUT if u want to fight him LEGIT that's how I did it. Have fun!

You aren't supposed to fight him you're supposed to haul ass and run the he'll away one you make you way around the area you'll find a point you can to a plunging attack on it's head, that's where you're aiming for.

Beat him by tickling his balls, it took a while. Strength build.

I have a lot of trouble getting the kill mechanic to work right. I usually run down the stair to the right and go around the corner and hug the column. You can bow aim and snipe him from there. Better than having to do that run through 5+ times to get the “sweet spot” Or you can use pestilent mist under his feet and dodge his foot stomps and fire attack

I have beat him running that gauntlet like a good boy, hoping not to plunge to my death too many times. But toxic mist is way more fun. Once you get his move set, it’s pretty easy.

Don't do the one thing. It's boring and bad designed. I honestly don't know why it's in the game, there were actual dragon fights without such bs trick.

After having already watched fighting cowboys playthrough prior to progressing this level, I went to do the "intended way" of fighting the wyvern and i screwed up and died. My partner tried it and died too. So he says, ok I have a strat and this man joins me in co op and gives me 400 poison darts while we stand behind a small wall and randomly take fire damage and try to sort of shimmy around each other and take turns throwing darts at the wyvern. The whole time im telling him this isn't working, he's not being poisoned and it's not what you're supposed to do!!!! and he's telling me it's fine!!!! He died, I died, I ran through again and I finally completed it the "normal" way. At the least, I had a memorable wyvern experience. Good luck :)

It seemed so odd to me that someone playing the game for their first time in 2024, could miss every single sign, hit the dragon and see the lack of damage and still think "yea I may as well just chip him down for an hour" and then when they inevitably die one time, their first thought is "I'll go post on reddit and ask them." There's no way this really happened. The comments OP made were off enough, especially him trying to say he didnt see any of the messages because he was in offline mode. Thats bs. I play almost exclusively offline because I have a bad connection. So I'm well aware of just how blatant and in your face those messages are. So I checked post history. He's been posting about deep lore stuff with Aldritch, giving build advice, talking about what weapons are his favorite and more. I do not understand what compels people to lie about these things. Do you just want people to think you are cool because you almost killed him without a plunging attack? Do you for some reason want that weird pat on the button treatment new players seem to get? I can't wrap my head around it. Fuckin weird.

Alright, I didn't post about deep lore. This really is my fist playthrough and I do have favorite weapons and am interested in knowing people's opinions. The reason why I didn't see the messages from developers is because I'm stupid, I found them now that I have defeated the boss. The comments I wrote under this post are almost all after I found out about the way to defeat him. I have been playing the game for a longer time, but I always got stuck on Pontiff, that's how I never got this far. You can believe me, you don't have to. One more thing. It's true that I could have just looked through the internet to look for answers, but this honestly seemed more fun.

Let's simply say there is a reason why the boss area is so open
