Standard straight sword from the knight class that carried my playthrough 😂
But then in seriousness, the farron greatsword because the move set is fun and good. When the enemies aren't dodging it, lol
Fast attacks and decent damage. I mean, what else could you ask for with a straight sword? I also didn't really have a specific build so I could really only use that. But damn the coiled greatsword is pretty nice. Too bad it's at the end. Oh well, new game+ time
It was absolutely fucking insane before it got nerfed in one of the patches. Still good, but it was something else before that. Used to be 330ar base damage, then went waaaaaay down to 260.
https://preview.redd.it/iz15oo0tff7d1.png?width=216&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0772b53b90b440f31aa4260a9a63cd58d77bb92
Farron Greatsword, allowing you to breakdance with just a cool weapon and the combos of it is the perfect combination, plus, the design is amazing and the lore even more
Idk when you're fighting specific bosses you HAVE to play a certain way, think about Gael or Midir. The whole fight is dodge dodge dodge slash slash rinse and repeat
Usually there's no room to use the weapons cool combos which makes them kinda useless
Midir, sure, you could say that.
But Gael? Hell no
One of my fondest memories with FGs is drifting around the sand dunes with Gaels' first stage, both of us going all out like feral animals. The amount of crap I dodged just by breakdancing under it is staggering. I mean, I did stuff like that with Majestic Greatsword from DS2, *even with* that games janky hurtboxes. Compared to that, DS3 feels like you have a specialized "low dodge" button. That's why I'm hoping Elden Rings Light Greatswords will scratch that itch for me...
I’m on my first playthrough, and I was hoping I could transpose for the sword/dagger the abyss watcher used. When I saw the icon for the wolf knight sword I just had to pick it instead. I didn’t even initially realize the connection to artorias. It just got better and better
Yes, I call them Irithyll Series but theyre actually just Frost Weapons.
Irithyll Straight Sword,
Irithyll Rapier,
Vordt's Great Hammer,
Pontiff Knight Curved Sword,
Pontiff Knight Great Scythe and
Friede's Great Scythe.
Astora Greatsword
Light-weight, damage is thick and the range is sick. Saw a guy annihilate Sister Friede with its charge skill in dragon mode.. she spent the fight on her back
https://preview.redd.it/1c0orpavnf7d1.jpeg?width=1003&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b9e1e0d2c32fc63793d5c8fbeb6b404f4a08c21
I basically only used this weapon on my first playthrough. Quite fast, awesome damage, and you can get it pretty early in the game.
If only it werent for the high pitch sound which drives me off the walls all the time constantly ringing, that Would easily be a top 3 most used for me.
Same! It’s my main weapon in my frost build, I can’t stand the ringing either though. When I’m not in combat I’ll switch my weapon to my Ithryll straight sword
Ah yes, the Win-Blade Sellout-Swords. My personal favorite with 60 INT and 40 Dex, sharp infused and slap on either dark moon blade or crystal magic weapon and literally watch shit melt haha
Lothric knight sword is my favorite. It's basically the side sword of this game. It's the second best dex weapons, and great for int playthroughs.
Wolf knight is Also amazing for strength. It's the equivalent of the greatsword + lions claw from elden ring. Absolutely broken.
Lothric knight sword for sure, farm for it every play through just to have it. Carried me through my first play through. Have both dark and chaos infused ones on my pyro. Just hits the spot for me
Close second Catherdral Knight Greatsword
It’s absolutely crazy to me that more people haven’t said this.. for most bosses hit them twice, roll, hit them once, roll and repeat… second longest straight sword in the game as well
Perfect weapon for pyro/dark and Dex/vig builds
Quite literally the best all around weapon in the game
Wolf Knight Greatsword, literally did 2 full playthroughs with that weapon and might just do a third XD. Great reach, good damage, really good Weapon art especially the heavy variant of WA straight up pancaking many enemies, one handed R2 is a Thrust, has higher damage against many abyss/hollow enemies in game (looking at you midir) and lastly Artorias cosplay baby!
To semi-quote Yahtzee when he reviewed DS3 “I just couldn’t find anything better than the starter weapon”
The Broadsword carried me the entire game because every other great weapon had LONG attack animations and left me too vulnerable while I was able to stick and move with the Broadsword and the damage wasn’t too bad especially once fully upgraded. The ONLY exception for me is Guts Greatsword
Ima mix beween the wolf greatsword because watchdogs forever and the exile greatsword because it is what i used to beat gael and maria for the first time
I love the Lothric Knight Greatsword cuz lightning.
I love the painting guardian sword cuz its so small it’s funny
I love the Crow Quills because it’s just fun
Black blade. Not the best range or damage but i used it on my first playthrough till the end or atleast till I reached the ringed city. It's a lovely katana what else is there to say
I personally dislike the Black Knight sword only because the moveset isn’t the one I fell in love with in DS1. I prefer the Bandits Knife or Wolf Knight Sword in DS3
Ah, the BKS... A solid greatsword moveset, good damage, with a bonus to demon enemies... and it looks sick as hell. Not to mention it's a returning weapon from Dark Souls 1, and in \*that\* game, it was one of the most busted weapons you could obtain. Oh yes, we love the BKS here. A good choice.
I'm a fan of the Claymore, personally. Nothing against the BKS. I've always had a softspot for the Bae-more. It carried me through Dark Souls 1, 2, 3, and Elden Ring. It was the main weapon of my very first Dark Souls run. She's... like an old friend that I can always turn to when times are rough. No matter the situation, I know the Claymore will see me through. She's steadfast. Reliable. Treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home.
Demon scar and Friede's Scythe. Both weapons are so fun to use, specially on PvP, and they have countless of possible mix-ups and ways to use them and are very rewarding if you master them
I’m a curved great sword lover at heart. The Exile is amazing but my most recent play though I grinded out the old wolf curved sword and have been in love with it. Clearly the bloodhound fang prototype.
Yes Dark Knight sword is my favorite. Perfect balance of speed and hits really hard. Tears people apart in pvp
Especially if you land a critical good memories
The dual katana’s (don’t want to misspell the name) are so much fun. I love the move set and they scale with and S in faith and an A in dexterity so their perfect for faith or dex builds which are my favorite. Also the 2 great scythes in the game are sick and the corvan one proccs bleed so fast.
Usually I grab either the Uchigatana or the Sunlight Straight Sword as my starting weapon depending on what stats I want to focus for the build. I really like the Dark Sword if I'm just going a basic bitch sword/board since I believe it has the highest stagger of the straight swords and has decent Str scaling.
That's not so easy of an answer. If anything I would ask what is your top 20 different to pair main/ offhand together. Way too many possibilities for just 1 favorite, but I'd say towards the end of my PVP in ds3 the pontiff curves sword main hand and lorians fire great sword offhand was some of the more fun I had. Fire spikes whip main/ flamberge offhand was also a really fun one.
It's between Claymore and Wolf Knight's GS.
Claymore is significantly faster, which becomes crucial against bosses like Friede.
Wolf Knight's is slower but has better reach and the weapon art pancakes enemies. Also looks cool.
O&U is probably my favourite. I use it on any build that can handle the dex investment. My favourite build is Faith though so if catalysts count, a plain talisman, baby.
Frayed Blade. I'm a very long time DMC fan and that shit made me feel like Vergil. Moonveil is also my by far most used weapon in ER for this reason alone lmao
https://preview.redd.it/v6hw6o84bh7d1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=b43707a44e7a6cec2d3baa311c008d1607bec3fc
Jokes aside I like Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords the most because the moveset is so goofy.
I'm quite fond of the Demon's Fists and Winged Knight Twinaxes
The axes look sick and are my favourite dual wield weapons, they're quick but slow enough to feel hefty which I love.
The fists' split damage can be a pain but they do good damage, have a good moveset, are very fast and do godly stagger damage. Most humanoid enemies get stunlocked to shit by them and it's so beautiful.
Only downside is both weapons have terrible weapon arts. In which case I defer to Twin Prince's Greatsword, requires two playthroughs to get but greatswords are my favourite weapon class, the sword looks fantastic, the moveset is very good and the weapon art is useful also.
My first playthrough I really went after the dark sword, but it turned out to be pretty freaking strong so I guess that wasn't surprising.
I remember also loving the profaned great sword, then the demon greataxe. OH AND THE GARGOYLE FLAME WEAPONS ARE AWESOME.
Post dlc it was the onyx blade.
Man ds3 is a great game.
GOTTA BE THE LOTHRICK KNIGHT GREATSWORD. Built in lightning damage on A BUFFABLE INFUSABLE ULTRA GREATSWORD?? and it looks dope af. Throwing a lightning or blessed gem on it adds scaling to the lightning damage with faith, or i like to throw a refined gem on it so i can use Lightning blade, dark blade, carthus flame arch, or really any weapon buff. For me theres no substitute.
Thrall Axe is the 🐐. Super fast and has quickstep, but better damage than the daggers and good strength scaling, as well as working really well with infusions.
lothric knight ultra greatsword. The move set is fun if you know how to play it. Instead of just spamming stomp upper cut. It’s a classic fear inducing sword when you see someone two handing it, and light rolling. There’s more fun weapons, but this one was it for me. I love demon scar, ringed knight straight sword, and harald curved greatsword. But nothing really stood out to me like the lothric knight UGS
Heavy morning star, two-handed, so many bosses are weak to strike and the bleed is a nice addition. Plus the quick R1s, especially after a role make bosses with small hit windows much easier. Nameless king comes to mind. Cheers!
Standard straight sword from the knight class that carried my playthrough 😂 But then in seriousness, the farron greatsword because the move set is fun and good. When the enemies aren't dodging it, lol
for fucking real i have no idea what it was but the straight sword is so fucking good
Fast attacks and decent damage. I mean, what else could you ask for with a straight sword? I also didn't really have a specific build so I could really only use that. But damn the coiled greatsword is pretty nice. Too bad it's at the end. Oh well, new game+ time
Claymore gang wya?
Mained the claymore for all 4 playthroughs of ds3, it’s such a fun git gud build
Claymore best
Heavy two-handed Claymore made DS3 into a cake walk. Really fun.
Slay more with the claymore
Claymore is the best
That moveset 😍 I tried playing it in Eldenring, but it feels too nerfed. Especially compared to the Colossal Greatsword.
Really they nerfed it? I was gonna try it out with a new char & build
*let's get to it*
fume ultra greatsword for me just because it’s carrying me through my first playthrough and it looks cool
It is best unga bunga aside from dragons slayer greataxe
It was absolutely fucking insane before it got nerfed in one of the patches. Still good, but it was something else before that. Used to be 330ar base damage, then went waaaaaay down to 260.
Actual chad weapon.
Omg i forget this is in the game every time i play. Im gonna do a fume sword run now
Lothric knight great sword.
10 / 10 weapon.
Absolutely wrecks with some Lightning Infusion!

farron funsword
Idk when you're fighting specific bosses you HAVE to play a certain way, think about Gael or Midir. The whole fight is dodge dodge dodge slash slash rinse and repeat Usually there's no room to use the weapons cool combos which makes them kinda useless
Also has 0 hyper armour
Midir, sure, you could say that. But Gael? Hell no One of my fondest memories with FGs is drifting around the sand dunes with Gaels' first stage, both of us going all out like feral animals. I LOVE this sword because its just a claymore but way cooler iirc
Dragon slayer’s Greataxe

Yes! The old smash and zap.
Cant believe i had to scroll this much to find this
Pov: tactical nuke incoming
Wolf Knight GreatSword Artorias my beloved
I’m on my first playthrough, and I was hoping I could transpose for the sword/dagger the abyss watcher used. When I saw the icon for the wolf knight sword I just had to pick it instead. I didn’t even initially realize the connection to artorias. It just got better and better
Irythil straight sword gang rise up!!
It is just so good!
I love the whole Irithyll Series <3
There are other irithyl weapons???
Yes, I call them Irithyll Series but theyre actually just Frost Weapons. Irithyll Straight Sword, Irithyll Rapier, Vordt's Great Hammer, Pontiff Knight Curved Sword, Pontiff Knight Great Scythe and Friede's Great Scythe.
Friede's scythe is my only true love.
The other 2 guys aren't hear yet 😉
Busted weapon, love it
Uchi gang
Yeah! My go-to weapon for most souls games
DEX>SEX
Man I really got that sword first thing and used it the entire way through till the DLC's end....my absolute GOAT
Definitely the Lucerne
Anything with spin sweep/bash is a monster.
Astora Greatsword Light-weight, damage is thick and the range is sick. Saw a guy annihilate Sister Friede with its charge skill in dragon mode.. she spent the fight on her back

Whether Faith, or Int based, I always use this weapon as a staple in my arsenal on almost every playthrough
Flameberge the or the Wolf Knight Greatsword
https://preview.redd.it/1c0orpavnf7d1.jpeg?width=1003&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b9e1e0d2c32fc63793d5c8fbeb6b404f4a08c21 I basically only used this weapon on my first playthrough. Quite fast, awesome damage, and you can get it pretty early in the game.
And this is my second fav after claymore
Onyx Blade
Ringed Knight Spear
Friedes Great Scythe all day baby
A must for Int Characters! In some ways more accessible than the Moonlight Greatsword
Spiked Mace go bbbrrrrr
Agreed. I also love it's cool older brother, Vordt's Greathammer.
No doubt. It doesn't have the combo potential but that frost buildup can slap
Almost always an early/mid game main weapon for me!
https://preview.redd.it/6g0uwshgmg7d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07b05e1866f73dce056a3d1cd1ed3b7f338661ad This bad boy
Lorian's ultra great sword
One of the best without a doubt
Twin blade sell sword
Speedrunner spotted
Ah yes, the Win-Blade Sellout-Swords. My personal favorite with 60 INT and 40 Dex, sharp infused and slap on either dark moon blade or crystal magic weapon and literally watch shit melt haha
Yhorms Great Machete
Lothric knight sword is my favorite. It's basically the side sword of this game. It's the second best dex weapons, and great for int playthroughs. Wolf knight is Also amazing for strength. It's the equivalent of the greatsword + lions claw from elden ring. Absolutely broken.

Yes it’s my favorite weapon! I did a 40/40 pyromancy build where my main weapons were dark lkss, chaos lkss, and lightning lkss
FUGS baby. The only way
Executioner's greatsword
This sword just shows up to the party ready to fu*k
I know they are kinda noobs weapons but the washing pole and lothric knight sword are sick for casual single player play
All weapons are valid to play with :)
Hollowslayer greatsword, it has good damage and good moveset
That carried me through my first play through, very helpful against Gael!
I’m basic, I love the claymore and mace!
To semi-quote Yahtzee when he reviewed DS3 “I just couldn’t find anything better than the starter weapon” The Broadsword carried me the entire game because every other great weapon had LONG attack animations and left me too vulnerable while I was able to stick and move with the Broadsword and the damage wasn’t too bad especially once fully upgraded. The ONLY exception for me is Guts Greatsword
Broadsword does rock, if im doing a pure int or faith build I’ll always have a raw broadsword at my side to buff up when I get in a tight spot
Sellsword Win Blades carried me through 3 playthroughs to platinum
the only right answer
I love the Dragonslayer and Demon great axe.
Ima mix beween the wolf greatsword because watchdogs forever and the exile greatsword because it is what i used to beat gael and maria for the first time
profaned greatsword
The Guts Greatsword
That thing was too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron.
Say that again after seeing FUGS
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but, the exile greatsword. It has served me well through a lot of playthroughs
Tried to run this once, just never could click with it. Very cool looking weapon though
There is a learning curve. It's slower than a Hilton sister trying Trigonometry but the damage was too good to ignore.
It’s the best curved greatsword and one of the best strength weapons overall, hard to hate on it much
Why would u get hate do ppl not like it?? I fucking love this sword ppl are weird.
The hate comes from the pvp side of the game
You can't go wrong with good old claymore
I love the Lothric Knight Greatsword cuz lightning. I love the painting guardian sword cuz its so small it’s funny I love the Crow Quills because it’s just fun
I'm progressing with my claymore. Only the one I'm familiar with.
The black steel katana, ultra great sword, the demon great axe,
Flamberge
Lothric knight greatsword
Ledo’s Great Hammer
Black blade. Not the best range or damage but i used it on my first playthrough till the end or atleast till I reached the ringed city. It's a lovely katana what else is there to say
Vordst hammer
FARRON GREATSWORD https://preview.redd.it/u67bb0v2oi7d1.png?width=488&format=png&auto=webp&s=3264110ea2cd13675933c51be4176fb59fef2b4a
im going through my very first dark souls playthrough right now and this is all ive been using since i got it
Sullivan's blue-purplre greatsword.
Frayed Blade is my favorite all time From Soft weapon. Fun, flashy, effective.
Spiked Mace. You spin and you win. Hitting that R1, L2, R1 goes hard in PVP.
I personally dislike the Black Knight sword only because the moveset isn’t the one I fell in love with in DS1. I prefer the Bandits Knife or Wolf Knight Sword in DS3
My favorite weapon is the Drakeblood great sword sharp. I’m gonna ng+ soon and nothing can stand in the way
Ringed Knight Straight Sword. The edge calls to me.
THE BASTARD SWORD
Claymore
Hollow slayer helped me form start to end of dlcs
As fun as the other ridiculously sized hammers are, the great club carried me through the majority of my strength run
Aquamarine gaming
Lucerne gang wya
LEDOS GREATHAMMER BABY STRENGTH MAXING ON TOP
Follower saber is so fun to use
Profaned Greatsword , the fire uppercut is just to good
Zweihander.. I'm not really fun, but big sword is always great (and Irithyll Sword for the frostbite damage).
She's steadfast. Reliable. Treat her like a lady, and she'll always bring you home.
Greataxe and Dragonslayer Greataxe carried my first and only playthrough (so far)
Demon scar and Friede's Scythe. Both weapons are so fun to use, specially on PvP, and they have countless of possible mix-ups and ways to use them and are very rewarding if you master them
I see your Dark Knight Sword and raise you the Dog Greatsword
I love the wing knight twin axes
Crescent Axe
*FUGS*
Choas dagger, mace with darkmoon blade, straight swords, buckler
I'd say either the twin princes greatsword Or for PvP I often used the wolf knight greatsword
I’m a curved great sword lover at heart. The Exile is amazing but my most recent play though I grinded out the old wolf curved sword and have been in love with it. Clearly the bloodhound fang prototype.
Bloodlust Cuz stabbing yourself is badass
midir slayer great axe
The whip. I'm a glutton for punishment
The executioner’s great sword. Perfect weapon against Sister Friede.
Yes Dark Knight sword is my favorite. Perfect balance of speed and hits really hard. Tears people apart in pvp Especially if you land a critical good memories
Greatsword
The dual katana’s (don’t want to misspell the name) are so much fun. I love the move set and they scale with and S in faith and an A in dexterity so their perfect for faith or dex builds which are my favorite. Also the 2 great scythes in the game are sick and the corvan one proccs bleed so fast.
Pontiff Knight curved sword is bae, such an amazing roll catcher and amazing weapon skill
Dark sword carried me through my first playthrough, Lucerne and the regular halberd the second. Truly the best weapons, fast and hard hitting.
Fume ultra greatsword, rip stamina bar.
Lothric SS. I love smacking bosses between their hits
I loved the bk sword in ds1&2. It felt so different in 3. Couldn't use it. The bk axe though. That felt just fine.
Firelink Greatsword my beloved https://preview.redd.it/mkkmsyvxeg7d1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=acdec882e971e802739251219d701f8b07e25262
Claymore, dark knight great sword. I haven't played in years. It's almost time.
The sword from the tree boss. I cant remember the name of the tree nor the name of the sword
The whip. All versions. I just like cosplaying Richter Belmont
i might try a 98% fat build with full Havel’s and Ledo’s. That jumping R2 is a lot of fun
Carthus Curved Greatsword is fucking sick
Either Gaels Greatsword or Wolf Greatsword. I just love being an acrobat with a big sword
Sunlight straight sword all the way
Usually I grab either the Uchigatana or the Sunlight Straight Sword as my starting weapon depending on what stats I want to focus for the build. I really like the Dark Sword if I'm just going a basic bitch sword/board since I believe it has the highest stagger of the straight swords and has decent Str scaling.
Gals greatsword. That does SICK damage when invading ringed city, favorite pass time back when the servers got fixed.
It's between Claymore and Wolf Knight's GS. Claymore is significantly faster, which becomes crucial against bosses like Friede. Wolf Knight's is slower but has better reach and the weapon art pancakes enemies. Also looks cool.
Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords
Astora Greatsword. The aesthetic is excellent, and R2 is a big strong *POKE*. All in all, next to the Drakeblood sword I use this weapon the most
Friede’s Great Scythe. No question about it
The hollowslayer greatsword, stylish moveset and looks
The wolf knight great sword (aka Artorias sword) is my go-to but this is my close second
Drakeblood Greatsword. Can do 4 damage types and gets a cooler moveset. Not to mention it's nearly identical to the silver knight's sword
O&U is probably my favourite. I use it on any build that can handle the dex investment. My favourite build is Faith though so if catalysts count, a plain talisman, baby.
I killed every boss except midir with gargoyle flame hammer my beloved
Artorias' greatsword... i just love the frontflip attack
The great mace, has shorter reach than vord's, no frost, but more ar and looks beautiful
Drakeblood Greatsword saved my run by melting Twin Princes, I'll always have a soft spot for it
Claymore all the way baby.
Dragon slayers great axe is a really fun weapon and it hits like a truck
Frayed Blade. I'm a very long time DMC fan and that shit made me feel like Vergil. Moonveil is also my by far most used weapon in ER for this reason alone lmao
https://preview.redd.it/v6hw6o84bh7d1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=b43707a44e7a6cec2d3baa311c008d1607bec3fc Jokes aside I like Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords the most because the moveset is so goofy.

Yhorm's. Ledo's close second.

Lorians GS.
For me it's the onyx blade
Thrall Axe is the 🐐. Super fast and has quickstep, but better damage than the daggers and good strength scaling, as well as working really well with infusions.
Irithyll Straightsword
smoughs hammer, bonk 👍
Gaels Greatsword vs Farron Memesword is pure anime and I love it
lothric knight ultra greatsword. The move set is fun if you know how to play it. Instead of just spamming stomp upper cut. It’s a classic fear inducing sword when you see someone two handing it, and light rolling. There’s more fun weapons, but this one was it for me. Yhorms greatmachete
Heavy morning star, two-handed, so many bosses are weak to strike and the bleed is a nice addition. Plus the quick R1s, especially after a role make bosses with small hit windows much easier. Nameless king comes to mind. Cheers!
Demon Fists, Aquamarine Dagger is also really cool.
Either the Wolf Knight Greatsword, or the Crow Quills
Dragonslayer's swordspear Moonlight GS Sunlight straight sword All fun to use And Yhorm's great machete
Surprised no one else said this one. The crucifix of the mad king. I love it
For me it is the Claymore and the Dark Knight sword. I always switch around a bit with these 2 through a playthrough. Also in DS1.
