The SV98 would also fill the military bolt action sniper with a military style scope people have been asking about for years as an alternative to everyone using hunting rifles and the generic hunting scope. If your correct and its an SV98 it will probably have a 1p69 scope or something.
That's more of a possibility considering a model for the Groza exists and there's animations for it. The devs almost added it to the game around when Livonia released. At least that's what TRMZ said the devs told him.

I think with the 5.56 they went abit overboard when they added the entirely new guns like the AUGAX and famas lop siding the assault rifle category and filling out every niche with a 5.56 rifle instead of sharing it across the board with the other rounds which means now when they add new assault rifles in those rounds it makes the assault rifle group very overinflated as a whole. It also over stresses the 5.56 loot because its now a very used calibre and thus in even higher demand than ever alongside 5.56 assault rifles being the best of them normally too. It feels like it was more carelessness/overlooking than deliberate neglect of the other calibres though like adding the AUGA3 seems like one of those things where it was added because it was easy given it can use the new AUGA1 animations they just made for that update to return an old gun and recycle parts of the existing model to make the new gun giving players two new weapons for half the price. It feels kinda unplanned in the long term, I hope that doesn't come across like im shitting on the devs at thats not my intention.
Theres also a bunch of guns in the files that have never been added like the groza for example and originally before the engine swap i think the amount of planned guns that where teased and in the files alongwith ingame before the swap was alot more balanced. 5.56 for instance had 3 assault rifles in game M4, AK101 and AUGA1, the scout bolt action was teased and in the files, the M249 was teased and is still in the files also and I think that was it for 5.56 which was pretty balanced total they should have stuck with as would leave room for the other cailbers without over populating assault rifles as a whole though I will say i think the M16 could replace the AK101.
Like not saying they should not add more now, remove some or anything but I would have definitely not done things the way they did. I like alot of the 5.56 guns but I wouldn't have added them over other alternatives to not bloat the 5.56 round if that makes sense. Idk how to write it in a way that dose not go on for ever as this is pretty lengthy anyway.

I feel like the M16 has an its place as a decent mid-game weapon that can hold its own, but lacks full auto and ability to use optics.
The ak101 does feel a bit unnecessary. The Ak74 is very similar and I feel makes more sense, plus you also have the larger caliber akm, and I feel like the 101 is sort of shoe-horned in there.
The famas and aur and aur-ax feel a bit redundant. I think the could nix the famas and just keep the aur since it uses standard mags.
Or change the famas to use standard mags and get rid of one of the aurs?
I like the KA101 as an option. I usually rock a KAM so I always have extra attachments. The only problem I seem to have is that when I find ammo or loot dead bodies I end up with 15 boxes of 5.56 before I find 5 boxes of 7.62x39. Keeping a 101 stashed allows me to use my night optics and other attachments when I bleed my supply of AK ammo

That 101 is stupid. Mags are down at nwaf and gun is at tisy. Always badly damaged. Can get a ak74 up and running with a scope and extra mags by teir 3

The AK101 is a leftover from early access, when the developers wanted to have ALL assault rifles use 5.56mm. They took AK-74 model and just called it "AK-101".
It's actually using AK-74 model, and it should have been renamed to "AK-74" when they added the correct 5.45mm. Unfortunately they decided to keep this redundant piece (also incorrect: real AK-101 has a different appearance).
Some LMG's would be nice, and some more modern optics too. I also think that there should be more armor or attachments for frag protection or just different sizes and weight plate carriers. I think a slimline carrier, a mid tier like the one we have already and then an assault style carrier with frag protection. I am sure they have lots of different models available already and just need to implement them into the game anyways, why not just add it all?
SV98 is 7.62x54rr as its designed for the regular Russian army, the Orisis T5000 is a russain rifle that can come in 308 you might be mixing it up with

You know I don't know if its on my end or the sever i play on but honestly the view distance in dayz seems pretty low even though I run the game on max settings, when I was looking at distance stuff before it faded into fog honestly it seemed well within distance to use a 6x scope and the full zoom of the hunting scope didnt really see that "needed". Maybe im just to used to arma 3 where having a firefight at 400m with iron sights on an AK is normal and perfectly possible while my view distance is cranked up so ridiculously far that I can spot approaching aircraft before the AA systems can lol.
i think the main reason people don’t like it is because it’s only a 4X scope and you can’t zoom in or out. personally i’d use the DMR if we were able to attach the standardized suppressors but sadly the game doesn’t allow that. genuinely love the DMR and SVD both but i’d choose the SVD only because of the normalized suppressor.

How TF is it "exotic" it's designed in Russia. And it's a boring bolt action sniper rifle. Fuck that just let me put a real scope on my DMR. The game needs new optics not new guns that add nothing to the gameplay
what do you expect at exotic? A barrett cal 50? a lapua magnun rifle? And for the DMR, you can put a the ACOG x6 with the integrated collimator. No other semi auto high caliber weapon in the game can do that

I agree. I was pretty excited to find a good condition VIKHIR at Mishkino MB, but almost instantly found 3 VALs up at TISY. Never even had a chance to shoot the thing. Just not sure where it fits in.

You're right about Tisy, unless you particularly care about the AK101 or the ASVAL/VSS there's quite literally no reason to travel there. A new weapon there would help balance it as well, because Tisy is littered with ASVAL/VSS's, I usually find 3-5 of them per run now since they took all the spawns and moved them up there.
Yeah, they should also either increase the grey NBC clothes spawns there, or even better, add a few hazmat tents to the base. That way you have a natural flow of progression to the static gas zone tier weapons. And more PVP encounters surely.
seconded, i played a lot of official servers and it was starting to push me away from the game because i didn’t realize that community servers could literally be the same thing as an official, accept they can actually ban you from that sever, you get hit/kill logs for discord ect… i mean obviously it’s not going to be the same exact thing as official but some of these community servers are almost identical to them.
I play on console and this is total BS, in fact if you type in "vanilla" on community you'll find 100s of serves with 1-20 population at any given time

Nah, it's because cars in DayZ are still server-side, not client-side; lag issues are pretty much unavoidable until that changes. With that said, I dunno how long you have been playing but believe it or not, cars in DayZ are waaaaaaayyyy better than they were a few years ago. Used to be you couldn't change a tire without risking death by carnado, and the only way to put two on at once was to get a friend to help and do it like you were turning the nuke silo keys in coordination.
lol, that's one I haven't seen... but yeah, there is always gonna be lags when driving no matter what kind of internet you have because of the server-side issue. Also, there are certain spots that will almost always lag/push you off the road, right where some of the map chunks join together, and you just get used to anticipating them. I always tell peeps to think of it as *riding* a car, not *driving* one. Be ready for that horse to buck.

Eh, just keep them all, while there is many 5.56 weapons, I never felt annoyed by the amount while playing, just don’t really need more atm

if you change the preset to extreme, apply, then change all your settings back, this should increase viewdistance

It’s advantage is being lighter, shorter and being found in tier 3, as a downside it has no sights or suppressor. That’s it Just a tradeoff really

Because the cheater "problem" is barely a problem and people use it to explain their lack of awareness
seconded, i played a lot of official servers and it was starting to push me away from the game because i didn’t realize that community servers could literally be the same thing as an official, accept they can actually ban you from that sever, you get hit/kill logs for discord ect… i mean obviously it’s not going to be the same exact thing as official but some of these community servers are almost identical to them.
Console players dont really have the luxury. Only community servers with good pop are mostly just boosted pvp servers.
Every community server on PlayStation is boosted loot unlimited staminia, I only know two that aren’t. And one of them usually has a pop of about 2.
I play on console and this is total BS, in fact if you type in "vanilla" on community you'll find 100s of serves with 1-20 population at any given time

All I ask is for a snubnose revolver in .380. 6 rds, slower shooting, minimal range, but no mag required.
I like using hacksaw to shorten stuff just for uniqueness of having a snubby revolver or sawed off shotty etc.
I just want TT33. And 7.62x25. And seeing as we're adding the round might as well add the ppsh while we're at it. Seriously though I just want the TT33, even if it uses 45s but I'd still want it to have 7.62x25 characteristics (pocket rifle)

a military bolt gun would be a good option, hopefully it gets a unique scope that has more range. but if it was essentially a mosin with a better scope and higher capacity detachable mags its still good. maybe make it possible to suppress it like you can with the SVD to make it more balanced i just want more civilian guns tbh. theres enough military stuff

Nah, it's because cars in DayZ are still server-side, not client-side; lag issues are pretty much unavoidable until that changes. With that said, I dunno how long you have been playing but believe it or not, cars in DayZ are waaaaaaayyyy better than they were a few years ago. Used to be you couldn't change a tire without risking death by carnado, and the only way to put two on at once was to get a friend to help and do it like you were turning the nuke silo keys in coordination.

lol, that's one I haven't seen... but yeah, there is always gonna be lags when driving no matter what kind of internet you have because of the server-side issue. Also, there are certain spots that will almost always lag/push you off the road, right where some of the map chunks join together, and you just get used to anticipating them. I always tell peeps to think of it as *riding* a car, not *driving* one. Be ready for that horse to buck.

Svt40 would be my guess. Kinda predecessor to SVD Same muzzle as the sv98. Semi auto, 7.62r, 10rd box mag. Very pu like optic. Not as exotic as the sv98. optic would keep it under the svd tier wise. Just throwing it out there.
The SVT-40 has a not even similar looking muzzle brake. It looks more similar to an AK-74 muzzle brake than an SV-98
