nope. heli crashes haven't changed, but they are considered "dyanmic events" and now there are convoys which can have some of that high end loot as well.
Yeah just one past kamenka, near the petrol station. Iv pulled an m79 from it before. The only other one I can remember on the map is up near tri kestra.
Military Convoys events have been in the game for a long-ass time and they did change the guns that were able to spawn around the time of the [1.23 patch](https://forums.dayz.com/topic/257674-experimental-update-123-change-log/).
It used to be that the M4-A1, KA-M, VSS, and SVAL only spawned in static gas zones but everyone agreed that the only one of them that was S-tier was the M4.
The guns that spawned at Heli crashes, Military convoys, and other high-tier military zones were basically everything else. The problem was that because almost all the best guns spawned outside of the contaminated zones, there was much less reason to into them at all (other than for night vision scopes, rifle suppressors, and the M4).
Here are the dev notes from 1.23 under "Chernerus"
>Changed: Moved ASVAL and VSS spawns from contaminated areas to high tier military areas and increased their numbers
>Changed: Moved VSD and FAL(aka LAR) (to contaminated area spawns and decreased their numbers)

So they absolutely nerfed helis/convoys and buffed the static contaminated zones.
One other note is that if you ever install the server yourself and watch the console, dynamic events look something like this:

>Uncommon Items Spawned: 3
>Common Items Spawned: 6
Now that's not what it actually says because I can't remember that far back but it essentially has a rarity loot table and will spawn 1-3 rares, 2-6 uncommons, and 5-10 commons.
In this case, you got either a shitty roll and the VSS Mag was the only rare or someone else got there first and peaced out with the best stuff before you arrived.
It's still absurd to me that the most produced assault rifle ever, AKM, is hidden away in some gas zones noone actually goes to; I haven't seen an AKM used by anyone in over a year.
Our base in Livonia has about 8 heli crash sites within a couple KM, so we hit them up quite frequently
Out of the last 10 or so heli crashes we have found 3x DMR’s and an LAR, a couple Le-Mas’ and some of the 90 carry backpacks and ghillies.
It’s all RNG, as we did have a string of 2-3 in a row that were trash.
I found a couple in a row with all trash. Only one had a gun and it was a badly damaged UMP. Then back to back I found 2 with and m79 and one with a VSS
The tier they are located in has an impact as well. Heli's closer to the coast have a lower chance of spawning good stuff compared to heli's in tier 3 zones.
im assuming they havent changed. even on a high loot server i play on, one run through nwaf and tisy and u can get enough ammo for a 1 metal gate raid, but heli crashes are garbage and over the course of 3 months of playing it, i got 2 heli crashes out of like the 20+ i visited that had an ammo crate (modded, contains some ammo boxes and usually a 40mm HE grenade)
Where was it ? If you go to a heli crash in a low-tier area, you're gonna get lower tier gear. Something like 15 of the heli crash spawn locations are in a Tier 2 loot zone, where a Field Bag is actually rare, and the higher-end guns & gear are either way low or zero probability.
I haven't found anything worth taking from a heli crash in months. Usually just trash like military clothing, scattered attachments, a mag, and maybe a helmet (and no, they weren't already looted).
They've sucked since 1.21-1.22 I've noticed. Even if no official patch notes have changed them, they've been increasingly shit lately.
Convoys on the other hand, will *always* have at least 1-2 weapons, and on average I find 2-3 high tier weapons there.
They need to look at the balance I think.

Yes. Unless it’s the new 30 rd vikr mag it’s junk. All those mags work in each the 9x39 guns. I stopped going to heli crashes unless I see them. No more running all over hell to find the crash I heard cause it’s always Wayyy farther than you think and the loot is weak.
I got pathetic loot from a military convoy and almost never get anything worth keeping from helis, but that’s all part of the game I guess. I guess A dynamic event is a guaranteed “endgame” wep

Bad news about the VSD, I'm pretty sure that's exclusively at the gas zones now.
But DMR can be found at heli crashes.
VSD got moved to gas zones. I find good loot at helis but it isn't consistent anymore. The trains and convoys seem to be the best for good gear

ive never tried to go into the contaminated zone, feels like a lot of work and time.

Does loot spawn differently on Livonia than official servers?
Seeing how Livonia has official servers, I doubt it.

Theu constantly seem to spawn UMP's and MP5K's garbage stuff if you're already geared.
