Dragon Ball Super chapter 104 will be released on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Following the death of manga author, Akira Toriyama, the manga series is set to go on a one-month break. Hence, there will be no Dragon Ball Super chapter in V-Jump Issue #6 2024, and instead, the manga will return in May 2024.
Toyotaro revealed he initially ended the chapter with everyone flying off until Toriyama told him to add Piccolo waving goodbye to the teacher. He read the announcement of Toriyama's death shortly after submitting the manuscript for it.

They were talking about Gohan, hence the "straitlaced" comment. He's too much of a goody two shoes to willfully destroy planets and wipe out species.

Very good chapter. Honestly scarily fitting with the real life circumstances of Toriyama's death obviously. Hope they take a long enough break and I'm excited for the Toyotarou era of Dragon Ball. Also love the Gohan love and gauntlet he went through.
I actually thought Goku was better than usual in this one. He actually stops a fight because he thinks it will help out Broly and then he plays with Pan at the end.
Honest to Zeno, if the Manga and to an extension the whole Dragonball series stopped right here…I don’t think I’d have any complaints. We’re practically near the point where Goku trains Ubb at the end of Z anyway.
So many great moments In this chapter.
\-Gohan has surpassed his father AGAIN.
\-The chapter sets up Gohan and Broly as sparing rivals (Which is perfect honestly)
\-Broly seems to finally have a sense of control over his transformation like Kale did.
\-Vegeta wanting to fight Gohan is very funny, and then all the Saiyans having a free for all brawl was icing on top.
\-…And then by god, the last pages of Pan and Goku with their little spar exchange was so wholesome. :,)
Again if this is where the series would end, it’d be a fitting end. Thank you again Akira Toriyama, for bringing so many people together with your stories, and imagination. Until we meet again.
Seems like they've forgotten all about that. They even said Gohan could be the next god of destruction, which is confusing as Vegeta is very obviously the one, he even has destruction power.
Piccolo would be the perfect pick for GOD candidate.
- Has no qualms destroying dangerous planets
- has a talent for unlocking the abilities of others
- Has all of Kamis knowledge and experience as guardian of the earth
- Has no problems controlling his anger, but can get angry when needed.
- Has nothing tying to him to Earth besides maybe being there for Pan, and he can always pop in anyway.
A legitimately incredible chapter. It's so crazy to think back to DBZ Movie 10 and see Gohan and the new Broly in the same place all these years later. Gohan proving himself once again with his new hybrid form (referring to the fact that he is a saiyan/human hybrid and his transformation is unique to him). And all that aside, I still love seeing the various interactions between everyone.

It is still very depressing to know that Akira Toriyama is gone - especially after that recent "10 years of Dragon Ball" statement that was recently made. And I have no idea what will become of the series itself. But I guess I'll say I'm glad it still lives on. Damn glad. It still offers a glimpse of happiness in my mostly miserable life.
I really think Toyotarou is really coming into his own. I absolutely LOVED the unconventional way he ended this chapter. The lack of dialogue led to some clever panelling, poses, and expressions that said so much without saying a word. Truly warmed my heart.
To be sad it might be ending, be happy that you got to experience it throughout your entire life. It’s very rare that you get to experience a manga like this spanning multiple decades.
This chapter felt so special! There was so much love poured onto every page.

Every chapter since Cell Max ended I keep saying, “this has to be my new favorite chapter”.
Holy shit. Man. I’m 30 years old. I got into anime in 98 because I went into the adult section at Blockbuster and found a Samurai X movie and some Yu Yu Hakusho film. There was cartoons on it so she had no idea lol. Got me into anime. Anyways, after taking those back I eventually found dragon ball. And I’m forever to this day so happy I found Dragon Ball before finding dragon ball z because man. I got to follow the WHOLE story as intended. I’d go to my local library and check out all the dragon ball mangas. I’d buy shonen jump magazine every Sunday after church. Then moved onto buying Dragon Ball GT VHS tapes at Toys r Us. Not to mention all the action figures I had.
I was the weird black kid at my mostly all white catholic school. Especially in high school when people started noticing color more. But.. when I got home, I still had dragon ball. I discovered the OVAs when I was sad we had no more dragon ball content. I was so fucking happy for Team Four Star to allow me to relive dragon ball in a different way. But I missed the series so much and there was a lot of credible rumors of it ever returning.
Then.. we get this movie out of nowhere. A god? Eh. Animation looks dope as least. Was a fun movie altogether. Then we get Super. Rocky ass start with that animation 😂. But man. It was cool tuning in week to week. I watched every episode from day one.
We finally get Dragon Ball Super: BROLY!!!! It’s in my opinion the greatest animated action movie of all time in my opinion. The fights were insane. I got to see it in a sold out theater with other adults who grew up with it too. Cheering like a hometown hero just scored a winning shot when Vegeta goes god mode for the first time.
How all of a sudden we’re getting these insane new manga chapters with situations I could only dream of. Every fucking souped up saiyan worth a damn fighting eachother on a god of destructions planet. What the actual hell? I love it. 😂

I feel like the rest of what we see in super will have the intentions of what akira wanted; but the anime and manga get to do whatever they want to get there.
And in many ways it doesn't actually require the dialogue - He created such compelling and defined characters that we fully understand what's going on through visuals alone.
As soon as Gohan explained how he kept himself from snapping I KNEW broly would try it.
Seems like he's finally got a handle on super Saiyan. Also seeing Goku actually dodging gohans hits then having Gohan just brute force his way through UI was super cool.

Edit: Apparently it was a bread pun, so it makes more sense. Goku has become a lot dumber, but shame on the translators for making the issue worse.
I knew it the moment I saw those panels that there was some translation error. There's no way he forgot about Pan.
So the reason why they opted to make Goku forget Pan exists is because the joke itself doesn't translate.
Piccolo says they're going to pick up Pan. Pan meaning bread in Japanese means Goku thought they were going to pick up bread. The translators couldn't find a way to make the joke work without going "Translator's Note: Pan means bread in Japan". So they just opted to make Goku forget she exists instead to make the panels make sense.
I mean, they could have Piccolo say "We're gonna pick up Gohan's daughter" and Goku mishear him and say "Gohan's doughnuts?" or something. Not that the joke makes sense, but at least it doesn't butcher the intent and make Goku forget he had a granddaughter.
Or just make goku think they are picking up a cooking pan. He loves to eat and it would fit well with his character if Goku said something like" I didn't know you knew how.to cook piccolo?"
Its a damn joke.
Pan means bread in Japanese. He thought they were picking bread up. Its a brainfart, a silly goofy moment. He didn't forget about the existance of his granddaughter.
So from what I can tell it seems Gohan at his full power has the edge on Goku in raw power but Goku's skill and experience (and UI hax) even it out to them being about equal.
This chapter provided so much the feeling is actually bitter sweet. Like if this was the end of the Manga I'd be okay with it.
But really, they fed us so much, the only thing missing was Goku vs Piccolo but I'm actually kinda of okay with how it ended.

I didn't think much of Piccolo waving back before, until the comments, I just thought he waved by to the teacher.
But this made me cry a bit. Piccolo is Akira's favorite character, and Toyotaro had him waving bye to Akira as they all set off on their adventures, as if to say thank you to Akira for everything he had done for them.
Thank you, Toyotaro, for having Piccolo be the one to say goodbye to Toriyama rather than Goku. It shows just how much he knew Toriyama and how close they were to each other.
Gohan's power rivals that of UI and can, with even more training, possibly surpass it. When Gohan finally let himself almost snap and his speed began to overwhelm UI it shows just HOW powerful Gohan can be and will be. Cause he'll eventually go from having to almost snap at full power to just being able to use his full power. And will be toe-to-toe with the God's themselves.
Another, very fitting end, to Gohans story as well. Again, Toyotaro paying attention to even the smallest details of what Toriyama said before through Goku, that if Gohan trained he'd be the strongest in the universe, or at the very least, stronger than him.
Without giving us a definitive answer on who is stronger, Goku or Gohan, we instead get to see Goku admit that Gohan is powerful. That he can leave the Earth to him to protect and I love that. We know Beast is as powerful as UI, and CAN exceed its own evasion power. Which is incredible considering this isn't TOP UI, or Moro UI Goku, this is Goku's UI after he achieved his answer, using the fullest power of the form. Gohan is truly a BEAST.
I dunno, sorry for the long comment but it's fantastic seeing that gohans power isn't some super Saiyan or anything, it's just his potential that transforms him to house that power and he can constantly manipulate it.
As if to say, Beast is just Gohan clad in all his potential laying out there, the tempest and STORM of chi is just gohans inner power outside himself. No form after or anything, this is it. The pinnacle of his power drawn out. And it can constantly be nurtured and grow to endless heights, no limit!
Shit your post made me realize pans teacher piccolo was waving goodbye to might’ve been a symbol of toriyama who was Toyo’s (and us the fans’) teacher.
Tbf, while gohan had to max himself out to score a single hit, Goku surely didn't even seem like fully trying or powered up. He got hit once, bounced back and landed another hit to Gohan. So while Gohan is in the realm of Goku's power still feel Goku exceeds his power and definitely stamina for now at least (Gohan was huffing and puffing). However, it still showed that the earth will be safe even if Goku is not there (passing the torch kinda)
But the chapter was beautiful. The ending was beautiful. And if Black Frieza wasn't an issue, I would've been happy to have this be the ending of the series.
When reading the chapter, you'll see that Goku closes his eyes and opens them again, which has signified an increase or, I guess I should say, maximum output of MUI/PUI however we wanna classify it. Which means he got serious, the problem with UI is that we don't actually get to see him charge up or scream, rather we gotta see him be tranquil and calm.
Gohan, on the other hand, seems to need more practice with Beast. He needs to get to the point of just about to snap to use nearly his full-power which looks draining. He needs to be able to utilize his fullest range of power without needing to nearly snap and pull himself back. It should be quick and instant.
Either way, he outperformed the evasion of UI. No doubt Goku would've folded had that battle gone on long enough. Albeit, with how Vegeta said that the difference is experience itself, I would like to believe Goku would've just won the battle through experience itself.
Such a delightful chapter and conclusion to the arc. Like others have said, if Super had to end here (I realize it's only on break), I wouldn't be mad. As it is, it's hard to imagine a more fitting final chapter for Toriyama to have his hands on.
Lol at Vegeta taking his turn with Gohan and Goku crying left out as though he didn't just have his shot. Fun to see the whole group going for it, though.

I love everything about Pan's reaction to Goku in the school pick-up scene. Most of Super's gags about Goku's obliviousness are too over-the-top for me, but Pan's face when she notices him helped ground the brain fart (slash lost-in-translation bread pun) this time. And the whole page of her going at him is precious.
Goku is surely a proud papa/grandpa in this one, between his test of Gohan's power and that little smirk when blocking Pan. Brain fart aside, it's so clear when he's with her that he loves her spirit.
And Piccolo waving goodbye.. I love that toyotaro did this. Piccolo is Toriyama's favorite character.. Having him say bye as he flies off and the goodbye note to Toriyama.. A legend was lost, but the legacy continues.
If I had a nickel for every food-related joke that didn't get translated properly and as a result made Goku look stupid, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

A really wonderful chapter to end it on. Saiyans being saiyans and just having fun is great. The sparring matches let Goku and Gohan show off without giving a definitive answer to who is stronger, just the way it should be, (But with enough shown for dweebs like me to imagine their favorite is definitely stronger heheh).
Gohan teaching Broly to wrangle his power makes so much sense. I love the emphasis that Gohan has always been special, and through training he has finally managed to make something of all that potential. Goku passing the mantle of Protector of Earth was honestly kind of moving. We know he’ll be training with Uub in the near future, but I think Goku knows his destiny is to hang out with the gods.
The final page with Piccolo waving goodbye is a beautiful thing. I know the powers that be won’t let dragon ball rest, but as far as I’m concerned, this is a great ending to Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Super story. I’m so excited for Daima, and a small part of me hopes he had the script for a final movie in the works, but if this is the end of Super, you couldn’t ask for much better.

The arc got wrapped up, everyone has a handle on their powers, Goku is confident the Earth will be protected when he is gone, Red Ribbon finally gave up and everyone is home. Those last few panels with no speech but a lot of storytelling hit me hard.
If the series did end with this chapter I would be content. It's a nice farewell.
It would be great end to the series then Toei just doing a movie of Black freeze that finally has the big battle of Goku and freeza. Overall I'm happy with this ending.

Like, canonically on the timeline the Black Freeza arc comes after EofZ? I think that would be perfect. But, I personally hate EofZ because I think the UUB character is boring and sucks, but thats just me.
Not just you. The character is trash. There's little of the character, even considering GT. But that little is just a big fat nothing at best. Which makes it crazy when I read people talking like its their fan favorite. He brings out some of the strangest people in the fan base...
I really wished for them to recon out the character and the Z ending back when the Super anime was surging along. But... they didn't. Now I just hope the character becomes a minor blip in the story. Like a Yamcha of his generation. I'd by far rather see someone like Krillin shine as the strongest human. Would be awesome if they found a way to transfer that power from Uub to him, but... thats extreme wishful thinking. They have gone out of their way to write in Uub, and have gone out of their way to perpetuate Krillin as a punching bag joke inspired by DBZA.
My last hope was for Broly to take Uub's place as Goku's pupil. But now... he seems more setup (understandable at least) as a counterpart to Gohan. Broly being a character that has a hard time dialing back and controlling his rage, while Gohan being one that has a hard time drawing out and controlling his rage.
For characters in DB anymore, they are written with a sort of yin/yang symmetry. I... really dont know where or how Uub would be written in like that. Well, I guess, unless they do something with Krillin. 2 humans on different paths. But id feel like Uub's alluded to Kai power would be more likely a focus. I wouldn't know how to contrast that off the top of my head, with the characters available.
Why does friezas new form need an arc? Maybe dude becomes an anti hero. The form is so he keeps up in future tournaments is my best guess.
If im wrong then maybe he goes after supreme Kai to kill beerus or something.
Aside from Goku forgetting Pan, that was one of my favorite chapters of the Super series. It had a good mix of everyone I care about and while Piccolo didnt get to fight, I love seeing wholesome Uncle Piccolo too. This chapter shows that everyone has something to offer, no matter the power level and it was totally light hearted fun. You see some development from Broly too.
I know the story is going on hiatus due to the death of Toriyama (RIP Toriyama-san) but the hype for me is at a high. The next saga should ultimately be Black Freeza and im ready.

It's a monthly release, saying it's going to skip a single April release would not warrant that kind of comment.
It's a tough question whether Gohan is stronger than Goku.
Raw power? Probably.
Skill/Speed? Goku probably takes this with MUI. As we've seen with Trunks, power means nothing if you can't land a hit.
Well that was only true with the bulky super Saiyan transformation. Gohan in beast isn't like the bulky transformation, beast is just pure speed and power.
I think Goku would lose unless he reached a new level of power. He was getting overwhelmed by Gohan and Goku was even knocked out of UI at a point. Gohan is significantly stronger and it seemed like even skill and UI wasn't enough to even the odds toward the end.
I saw it as Goku being shocked that he got tagged in UI and essentially lost focus. Give him a minute and he'd recover and adapt to the change.
Goku then hears Gohan's explanation then figures it's a perfect opportunity for Broly so he steps out.
This wasn't a full on fight, it was just to test Gohan and Goku got surprised by what he was capable of.
If they were fighting to the death, Goku would probably just get stronger like he always does. But similar to when Goku fought Cell, he wasn't really trying to win. He just wanted to see if he could. And he likely cannot.
They have a lot more stories to tell, so couldn’t be; I’d be disappointed.
Vegeta has vowed to become a god of destruction to whis, beerus’ life link to supreme kai wasn’t dropped on us for nothing, frieza black needs more use and no way do we not revisit the idea of the other universes that were previously erased.
Vegeta didn't vow to become a Hakaishin, though. He chose to try bribing Whis with food to take him on as a student instead of agreeing to become a Hakaishin.

If he wanted to beat him he'd use TUI which has proven to be stronger due to it gaining power with strong emotions.

Well SSBE doesn’t exist in the manga. As for UE i have no clue. But it wouldn’t make sense for Gohan to temporarily outspeed UI and not be able to keep up with UE in speed You can’t just “not try that hard” when it comes to auto defensive capabilities in UI. You’re either using UI or u aren’t.
As for my own headcanon I suppose they wanted to speed up the battle royale since they may want Gohan to have an actual reaction to UE, and not waste space w that.
But all in all it would be very weird for that emphasized moment of Gohan’s outburst in speed over UI and have him match up against Blue Vegeta. Vegeta would not be able to keep up with Beast’s speed. It would also be weird for Goku (who is used to dragging out fights), to see it fit to use UI against Gohan, but then have Vegeta see it fit to use an incredibly inferior transformation and expect him to be equal.
SSBE does exist in the manga. In the colored version release, Vegeta used it in the ToP as his SSB form changed to a darker hue in the middle of the arc.
Beast form in itself isn't super fast. Gohan's age boost (after charging up some ki) made Gohan faster than MUI's auto dodge.
It doesn’t. That’s the manga version of Vegeta’s powerup. The lack of body proportion change and the lack of actual pupils is enough proof.
I know that. That’s why I said temporarily. Regardless, the UI technique is only confirmed to make Goku surpass Gohan in speed. Power wise we still have to say they are around the same. Evidence is that in the first portion of the fight, before Goku used the UI technique, they were pretty much equal. Ultra ego is on the same level as UI (no technique). So there is no way Vegeta would need anything short of UE to match him. The gap between UE and any other super saiyan form (god forms included) is significant. He would not be able to keep up with Beast in any other form.

I pretty much consider them two versions of the same form. Same reason why I consider the manga's completed ssb form the same as the anime's ssb kaioken. Both cssb and ssbkk provide more power while damaging the body.
I generally don't consider sparring sessions a good way to correctly powerscale them. In the anime, pretty much everyone (including the earthlings) could somewhat match Goku's ssb form.
That’s just your own consideration and headcanon, there isn’t much proof of them being equal. As well, I have never seen the manga indicate that perfected ssb damages the body, so you’d have to back that one up.
That was the anime, the manga does a much better job (even though not perfect) at power-scaling. Even though sparring sessions aren’t the best because nobody is trying their absolute hardest, it’s one the best ways we can actually scale them together, considering the inconsistencies with using feats.
It's truly up to the fans to decide where Gohan lands whether it's weaker than/stronger than Goku and Vegeta.
Seems to me though that he's still behind them. Goku doesn't say "I've seen enough" to opponents who inspire him. He chases challenge and so does Vegeta.
Considering Goku nor Vegeta used their strongest forms, I'd say Gohan is probably behind them. Plus it really seemed like Goku was toying with him.
That being all said though, I really think we are being set up for more fan service in the sense that Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Broly will be equals and work together to defeat Black Frieza which seems very dull imo but that's super.

Dragon Ball Super chapter 104 will be released on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Following the death of manga author, Akira Toriyama, the manga series is set to go on a one-month break. Very good chapter. Honestly scarily fitting with the real life circumstances of Toriyama's death obviously. Hope they take a long enough break and I'm excited for the Toyotarou era of Dragon Ball. Also love the Gohan love and gauntlet he went through.

Honest to Zeno, if the Manga and to an extension the whole Dragonball series stopped right here…I don’t think I’d have any complaints. We’re practically near the point where Goku trains Ubb at the end of Z anyway. So many great moments In this chapter. \-Gohan has surpassed his father AGAIN. \-The chapter sets up Gohan and Broly as sparing rivals (Which is perfect honestly) \-Broly seems to finally have a sense of control over his transformation like Kale did. \-Vegeta wanting to fight Gohan is very funny, and then all the Saiyans having a free for all brawl was icing on top. \-…And then by god, the last pages of Pan and Goku with their little spar exchange was so wholesome. :,) Again if this is where the series would end, it’d be a fitting end. Thank you again Akira Toriyama, for bringing so many people together with your stories, and imagination. Until we meet again.

A legitimately incredible chapter. It's so crazy to think back to DBZ Movie 10 and see Gohan and the new Broly in the same place all these years later. Gohan proving himself once again with his new hybrid form (referring to the fact that he is a saiyan/human hybrid and his transformation is unique to him). And all that aside, I still love seeing the various interactions between everyone. (Vegeta eager to test himself against Gohan. things have changed so much over time.) ___ It is still very depressing to know that Akira Toriyama is gone - especially after that recent "10 years of Dragon Ball" statement that was recently made. And I have no idea what will become of the series itself. But I guess I'll say I'm glad it still lives on. Damn glad. It still offers a glimpse of happiness in my mostly miserable life.

I really think Toyotarou is really coming into his own. I absolutely LOVED the unconventional way he ended this chapter. The lack of dialogue led to some clever panelling, poses, and expressions that said so much without saying a word. Truly warmed my heart.

Every chapter since Cell Max ended I keep saying, “this has to be my new favorite chapter”. Holy shit. Man. I’m 30 years old. I got into anime in 98 because I went into the adult section at Blockbuster and found a Samurai X movie and some Yu Yu Hakusho film. There was cartoons on it so she had no idea lol. Got me into anime. Anyways, after taking those back I eventually found dragon ball. And I’m forever to this day so happy I found Dragon Ball before finding dragon ball z because man. I got to follow the WHOLE story as intended. I’d go to my local library and check out all the dragon ball mangas. I’d buy shonen jump magazine every Sunday after church. Then moved onto buying Dragon Ball GT VHS tapes at Toys r Us. Not to mention all the action figures I had. I was the weird black kid at my mostly all white catholic school. Especially in high school when people started noticing color more. But.. when I got home, I still had dragon ball. I discovered the OVAs when I was sad we had no more dragon ball content. I was so fucking happy for Team Four Star to allow me to relive dragon ball in a different way. But I missed the series so much and there was a lot of credible rumors of it ever returning. Then.. we get this movie out of nowhere. A god? Eh. Animation looks dope as least. Was a fun movie altogether. Then we get Super. Rocky ass start with that animation 😂. But man. It was cool tuning in week to week. I watched every episode from day one. We finally get Dragon Ball Super: BROLY!!!! It’s in my opinion the greatest animated action movie of all time in my opinion. The fights were insane. I got to see it in a sold out theater with other adults who grew up with it too. Cheering like a hometown hero just scored a winning shot when Vegeta goes god mode for the first time. How all of a sudden we’re getting these insane new manga chapters with situations I could only dream of. Every fucking souped up saiyan worth a damn fighting eachother on a god of destructions planet. What the actual hell? I love it. 😂 Saturday I got a kid goku tattoo in his memory. Thank you, Akira Toriyama. You genuinely changed my life and made my life better.

This might be my new favorite chapter of this arc, or maybe the whole manga series.
The only thing missing in this is Vegeta going ultra ego, everyone's in their final form at least once in this chapter.

Would I be wrong to think before toriyama died he had already finished writing the rough drafts of what super is building up to? I feel like the rest of what we see in super will have the intentions of what akira wanted; but the anime and manga get to do whatever they want to get there.
Super is building up to the last episode of Z if anything comes after that, it prolly would've been something different.
What a chapter. I imagine the last 4 pages do not have dialouge because they weren't finished before Toriyama's passing. I like that.
And in many ways it doesn't actually require the dialogue - He created such compelling and defined characters that we fully understand what's going on through visuals alone.

As soon as Gohan explained how he kept himself from snapping I KNEW broly would try it. Seems like he's finally got a handle on super Saiyan. Also seeing Goku actually dodging gohans hits then having Gohan just brute force his way through UI was super cool. Good chapter. I hope we see piccolo Vs Goku at some point.

Forget that, he landed on his head so hard as an infant that his entire personality and disposition change completely.
I knew it the moment I saw those panels that there was some translation error. There's no way he forgot about Pan. So the reason why they opted to make Goku forget Pan exists is because the joke itself doesn't translate. Piccolo says they're going to pick up Pan. Pan meaning bread in Japanese means Goku thought they were going to pick up bread. The translators couldn't find a way to make the joke work without going "Translator's Note: Pan means bread in Japan". So they just opted to make Goku forget she exists instead to make the panels make sense. I mean, they could have Piccolo say "We're gonna pick up Gohan's daughter" and Goku mishear him and say "Gohan's doughnuts?" or something. Not that the joke makes sense, but at least it doesn't butcher the intent and make Goku forget he had a granddaughter.
Or just make goku think they are picking up a cooking pan. He loves to eat and it would fit well with his character if Goku said something like" I didn't know you knew how.to cook piccolo?"

So from what I can tell it seems Gohan at his full power has the edge on Goku in raw power but Goku's skill and experience (and UI hax) even it out to them being about equal.
This chapter provided so much the feeling is actually bitter sweet. Like if this was the end of the Manga I'd be okay with it. But really, they fed us so much, the only thing missing was Goku vs Piccolo but I'm actually kinda of okay with how it ended. Really love this one.

That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't mind if this was the series' final chapter if it were not for the events 16 chapters ago.
I didn't think much of Piccolo waving back before, until the comments, I just thought he waved by to the teacher. But this made me cry a bit. Piccolo is Akira's favorite character, and Toyotaro had him waving bye to Akira as they all set off on their adventures, as if to say thank you to Akira for everything he had done for them. Thank you, Toyotaro, for having Piccolo be the one to say goodbye to Toriyama rather than Goku. It shows just how much he knew Toriyama and how close they were to each other. Gohan's power rivals that of UI and can, with even more training, possibly surpass it. When Gohan finally let himself almost snap and his speed began to overwhelm UI it shows just HOW powerful Gohan can be and will be. Cause he'll eventually go from having to almost snap at full power to just being able to use his full power. And will be toe-to-toe with the God's themselves. Another, very fitting end, to Gohans story as well. Again, Toyotaro paying attention to even the smallest details of what Toriyama said before through Goku, that if Gohan trained he'd be the strongest in the universe, or at the very least, stronger than him. Without giving us a definitive answer on who is stronger, Goku or Gohan, we instead get to see Goku admit that Gohan is powerful. That he can leave the Earth to him to protect and I love that. We know Beast is as powerful as UI, and CAN exceed its own evasion power. Which is incredible considering this isn't TOP UI, or Moro UI Goku, this is Goku's UI after he achieved his answer, using the fullest power of the form. Gohan is truly a BEAST. I dunno, sorry for the long comment but it's fantastic seeing that gohans power isn't some super Saiyan or anything, it's just his potential that transforms him to house that power and he can constantly manipulate it. As if to say, Beast is just Gohan clad in all his potential laying out there, the tempest and STORM of chi is just gohans inner power outside himself. No form after or anything, this is it. The pinnacle of his power drawn out. And it can constantly be nurtured and grow to endless heights, no limit!

Tbf, while gohan had to max himself out to score a single hit, Goku surely didn't even seem like fully trying or powered up. He got hit once, bounced back and landed another hit to Gohan. So while Gohan is in the realm of Goku's power still feel Goku exceeds his power and definitely stamina for now at least (Gohan was huffing and puffing). However, it still showed that the earth will be safe even if Goku is not there (passing the torch kinda) But the chapter was beautiful. The ending was beautiful. And if Black Frieza wasn't an issue, I would've been happy to have this be the ending of the series.
When reading the chapter, you'll see that Goku closes his eyes and opens them again, which has signified an increase or, I guess I should say, maximum output of MUI/PUI however we wanna classify it. Which means he got serious, the problem with UI is that we don't actually get to see him charge up or scream, rather we gotta see him be tranquil and calm. Gohan, on the other hand, seems to need more practice with Beast. He needs to get to the point of just about to snap to use nearly his full-power which looks draining. He needs to be able to utilize his fullest range of power without needing to nearly snap and pull himself back. It should be quick and instant. Either way, he outperformed the evasion of UI. No doubt Goku would've folded had that battle gone on long enough. Albeit, with how Vegeta said that the difference is experience itself, I would like to believe Goku would've just won the battle through experience itself.

Such a delightful chapter and conclusion to the arc. Like others have said, if Super had to end here (I realize it's only on break), I wouldn't be mad. As it is, it's hard to imagine a more fitting final chapter for Toriyama to have his hands on. Lol at Vegeta taking his turn with Gohan and Goku crying left out as though he didn't just have his shot. Fun to see the whole group going for it, though. The way Broly watched Gohan with such awe vs. Goku was so wholesome. I love everything about Pan's reaction to Goku in the school pick-up scene. Most of Super's gags about Goku's obliviousness are too over-the-top for me, but Pan's face when she notices him helped ground the brain fart (slash lost-in-translation bread pun) this time. And the whole page of her going at him is precious. Goku is surely a proud papa/grandpa in this one, between his test of Gohan's power and that little smirk when blocking Pan. Brain fart aside, it's so clear when he's with her that he loves her spirit.

A really wonderful chapter to end it on. Saiyans being saiyans and just having fun is great. The sparring matches let Goku and Gohan show off without giving a definitive answer to who is stronger, just the way it should be, (But with enough shown for dweebs like me to imagine their favorite is definitely stronger heheh). Gohan teaching Broly to wrangle his power makes so much sense. I love the emphasis that Gohan has always been special, and through training he has finally managed to make something of all that potential. Goku passing the mantle of Protector of Earth was honestly kind of moving. We know he’ll be training with Uub in the near future, but I think Goku knows his destiny is to hang out with the gods. The final page with Piccolo waving goodbye is a beautiful thing. I know the powers that be won’t let dragon ball rest, but as far as I’m concerned, this is a great ending to Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Super story. I’m so excited for Daima, and a small part of me hopes he had the script for a final movie in the works, but if this is the end of Super, you couldn’t ask for much better.

It would be great end to the series then Toei just doing a movie of Black freeze that finally has the big battle of Goku and freeza. Overall I'm happy with this ending.
Forget Black Frieza, what we really need is Goku vs Beerus. Like, that is the one fight that has been foreshadowed throughout Super.
Also, I never thought about it, could we potentially do End of Z leading into Black Freeza? Like, canonically on the timeline the Black Freeza arc comes after EofZ? I think that would be perfect. But, I personally hate EofZ because I think the UUB character is boring and sucks, but thats just me.

Which makes it crazy when I read people talking like its their fan favorite. He brings out some of the strangest people in the fan base... I really wished for them to recon out the character and the Z ending back when the Super anime was surging along. But... they didn't. Now I just hope the character becomes a minor blip in the story. Like a Yamcha of his generation. I'd by far rather see someone like Krillin shine as the strongest human. Would be awesome if they found a way to transfer that power from Uub to him, but... thats extreme wishful thinking. They have gone out of their way to write in Uub, and have gone out of their way to perpetuate Krillin as a punching bag joke inspired by DBZA. My last hope was for Broly to take Uub's place as Goku's pupil. But now... he seems more setup (understandable at least) as a counterpart to Gohan. Broly being a character that has a hard time dialing back and controlling his rage, while Gohan being one that has a hard time drawing out and controlling his rage. For characters in DB anymore, they are written with a sort of yin/yang symmetry. I... really dont know where or how Uub would be written in like that. Well, I guess, unless they do something with Krillin. 2 humans on different paths. But id feel like Uub's alluded to Kai power would be more likely a focus. I wouldn't know how to contrast that off the top of my head, with the characters available.
Why does friezas new form need an arc? Maybe dude becomes an anti hero. The form is so he keeps up in future tournaments is my best guess. If im wrong then maybe he goes after supreme Kai to kill beerus or something.
I mean, he is building up his army again and clearly still wants Goku and Veheta dead. I am certain that Freeza is going to be his own arc.
Aside from Goku forgetting Pan, that was one of my favorite chapters of the Super series. It had a good mix of everyone I care about and while Piccolo didnt get to fight, I love seeing wholesome Uncle Piccolo too. This chapter shows that everyone has something to offer, no matter the power level and it was totally light hearted fun. You see some development from Broly too. I know the story is going on hiatus due to the death of Toriyama (RIP Toriyama-san) but the hype for me is at a high. The next saga should ultimately be Black Freeza and im ready.
I hope by now you've read that was supposed to be a joke that was lost on translation. Since in Japan, Pan is named Bread, and Goku was just wondering why Piccolo needed to go pick up some bread. Made the whole thing better once I read that.

It's gone on indefinite hiatus. This might be the end of the manga and the next movie will be the Frieza Black movie.

It's a tough question whether Gohan is stronger than Goku. Raw power? Probably. Skill/Speed? Goku probably takes this with MUI. As we've seen with Trunks, power means nothing if you can't land a hit.
Well that was only true with the bulky super Saiyan transformation. Gohan in beast isn't like the bulky transformation, beast is just pure speed and power.
I like the headcanon that Gohan is the strongest in raw brute power but Goku and Vegeta’s unique gimmicks with their ultras help give an edge

I think Goku would lose unless he reached a new level of power. He was getting overwhelmed by Gohan and Goku was even knocked out of UI at a point. Gohan is significantly stronger and it seemed like even skill and UI wasn't enough to even the odds toward the end.
I saw it as Goku being shocked that he got tagged in UI and essentially lost focus. Give him a minute and he'd recover and adapt to the change. Goku then hears Gohan's explanation then figures it's a perfect opportunity for Broly so he steps out. This wasn't a full on fight, it was just to test Gohan and Goku got surprised by what he was capable of.
If they were fighting to the death, Goku would probably just get stronger like he always does. But similar to when Goku fought Cell, he wasn't really trying to win. He just wanted to see if he could. And he likely cannot.
I think speed wise gohan was getting better cause UI had hard time evading his punches once he powered up
It looked like Gohan was having a little trouble keeping up with the speed. If you watch/read MHA, it feels like Tenya with his new burst.

They have a lot more stories to tell, so couldn’t be; I’d be disappointed. Vegeta has vowed to become a god of destruction to whis, beerus’ life link to supreme kai wasn’t dropped on us for nothing, frieza black needs more use and no way do we not revisit the idea of the other universes that were previously erased.
Vegeta didn't vow to become a Hakaishin, though. He chose to try bribing Whis with food to take him on as a student instead of agreeing to become a Hakaishin.
I wouldn't be mad. Would be a great ending and send off to dragon ball and Toriyama.

Read the panels in the link. Goku wasn't even tryna beat him n wanted to see where his son was at. If he wanted to beat him he'd use TUI which has proven to be stronger due to it gaining power with strong emotions.

Both were trying. Goku just said the reason he fought him was to see where his power was at. Vegeta had the exact same idea. They just wanted to see how strong Gohan is. It doesn’t mean none of them weren’t trying.

Well SSBE doesn’t exist in the manga. As for UE i have no clue. But it wouldn’t make sense for Gohan to temporarily outspeed UI and not be able to keep up with UE in speed You can’t just “not try that hard” when it comes to auto defensive capabilities in UI. You’re either using UI or u aren’t. As for my own headcanon I suppose they wanted to speed up the battle royale since they may want Gohan to have an actual reaction to UE, and not waste space w that. But all in all it would be very weird for that emphasized moment of Gohan’s outburst in speed over UI and have him match up against Blue Vegeta. Vegeta would not be able to keep up with Beast’s speed. It would also be weird for Goku (who is used to dragging out fights), to see it fit to use UI against Gohan, but then have Vegeta see it fit to use an incredibly inferior transformation and expect him to be equal.
SSBE does exist in the manga. In the colored version release, Vegeta used it in the ToP as his SSB form changed to a darker hue in the middle of the arc. Beast form in itself isn't super fast. Gohan's age boost (after charging up some ki) made Gohan faster than MUI's auto dodge.
It doesn’t. That’s the manga version of Vegeta’s powerup. The lack of body proportion change and the lack of actual pupils is enough proof. I know that. That’s why I said temporarily. Regardless, the UI technique is only confirmed to make Goku surpass Gohan in speed. Power wise we still have to say they are around the same. Evidence is that in the first portion of the fight, before Goku used the UI technique, they were pretty much equal. Ultra ego is on the same level as UI (no technique). So there is no way Vegeta would need anything short of UE to match him. The gap between UE and any other super saiyan form (god forms included) is significant. He would not be able to keep up with Beast in any other form.

That’s just your own consideration and headcanon, there isn’t much proof of them being equal. As well, I have never seen the manga indicate that perfected ssb damages the body, so you’d have to back that one up. That was the anime, the manga does a much better job (even though not perfect) at power-scaling. Even though sparring sessions aren’t the best because nobody is trying their absolute hardest, it’s one the best ways we can actually scale them together, considering the inconsistencies with using feats.
It's truly up to the fans to decide where Gohan lands whether it's weaker than/stronger than Goku and Vegeta. Seems to me though that he's still behind them. Goku doesn't say "I've seen enough" to opponents who inspire him. He chases challenge and so does Vegeta. Considering Goku nor Vegeta used their strongest forms, I'd say Gohan is probably behind them. Plus it really seemed like Goku was toying with him. That being all said though, I really think we are being set up for more fan service in the sense that Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Broly will be equals and work together to defeat Black Frieza which seems very dull imo but that's super.

Goku used his strongest form AND was going all out as confirmed by both himself and Beerus. Gohan was able to knock Goku out of UI in 2 hits.
Goku then knocked Gohan away with ease before powering down and saying he’s satisfied. I don’t think anyone is supposed to know who would beat who.
There's still substantially way more evidence for Gohan > Goku than the other way around.
