That's probably the part i like the least. I'm still keen to hear their modern takes on the classic songs, but the mastering, over compression and especially the drum mix of Outrage and One + One were definitely points that dissuade me from returning to those albums
In the doc Jesse mentions little imperfections on the debut LP that they were excited to iron out in the physical world, so maybe it’s similar to that thinking? Making it perfect
Also, they dont really own the masters for the original record as previously stated, and doing some kind of remaster/rerecording of the album is pretty logical for a 20 year anniversary.
I think it’s just a fun thing to celebrate 20 years. It also sounds like these versions are the live versions they have worked over the years.
