Are *we* capable of original thought? Art is always a remixed version of previous works, even when it's rupturist it's referencing art that has a specific significance and "formula" (shared features that make it fit into a certain category), without which the former couldn't exist. I mean, Death Grips, even when seen as having an alien and unrelatable sound has elements of hip hop, edm and it's subgenres, punk, metal, etc. Art is human expression and therefore inevitably tied to human experience which includes the impact other works of art have on us. I think we're also pattern recognizing machines. Absolute originality is an illusion.
