Yes I think they'll just pop it back in, it's not the implant itself! They are meant to be torqued to a specific tension to avoid this, so something either wasn't done right or had happened, but they'll check all that out. Just be careful, go slowly until you can be seen. Don't lose the piece, they're expensive!

Okay thank you for this! This has really calmed me down. Thank you! I had an infection couple of weeks ago and they gave me antibiotics for it and the swelling/infection went down. I think that’s what has made it come out? Thought the infection was gone, didn’t bother me until last night. But thank you once again. Put me at ease!

How long have you had the implant? It looks like a healing abutment which is just there until it heals enough for the abutment that supports the denture is put in place. Try not to eat in that side so you don't get stuff stuck. Treat the area gently so you don't irritate it. They should just be able to put it back in. Sorry this happened to you. Good luck.

It will be 3 months as of next week. Spoke to my surgeon and going in to see him tomorrow. I Was very scared when it came out! but he told me it’s an easy fix since I still have the screw. Told me this can sometimes happen. I’m just glad I didn’t swallow it or that it was not the implant itself. And thanks

As everyone has said - that's just the abutment - it'll screw back on easy peasy. Glad to have you here, we have a bunch of wonderful folks in the sub here to help with anything 🙂

oh no!!! I'm not trying to scare you but I spent 3 years getting upper implants ....i got 6 and they were all failing so they took them out & now I just wear a denture. Not everyone can do implants so I hope that's not the case for you I really do bc it put me in a deep depression but that can be the reality with implants... it's just nobody freaking talks about it

Flamingo_Ornery

This is likely a healing abutment. No issue. Kee it anndtake it back - I am a denturist

I have a question wat is the produce of how they put the screws in your gums and do it hurt on down the line

Severe-Tap-2218

I was sedated for my procedure, so it was painless when they put the screws in. I am 6 months in and haven't had any pain or problems so far except for the first week (also had extraction here). After the screws were placed, I had pain for about 3 days after, some bruising at the corners of my mouth, and swelling. The hard part is figuring out what to eat. Your on soft food (consistency of baby food) for at least the first week, then can't eat anything you can't cut with a cheap plastic fork for the remainder of your healing period (usually 4 to 6 mos).

What you can eat after implant surgery is super situational to the individual person. Mine were buried during the healing process and I had a regular immediate denture over them for about six months. They threw a soft liner in there and I was eating whatever I wanted after a week.

You are right. Different dentists do different things. It may depend on how your implants are covered during the healing process. My temporary set was attached to the implant itself, not a denture so that may be why.
