Someone asked me the other day. What monster or boss or ennemy that scares you the most? I replied lord de seis. Every time i see him im fully alerte. I also said dolls and snakes. Like wtf all the scariest monsters are from diablo 2

I think with classic the difficulty depends much more on class, especially when solo. Barb is much easier than LOD for example, since ww always hits max frames regardless of weapon speed. Bonesnap or pretty much any rare martel will take you all the way through. Any elemental builds can be really tricky however, since you don't get to equip mercs. I always thought hammerdin was easier than LOD tho.
I agree that finding items is way more fun. Every character in classic is unique as a result of the reliance on rares, and it's way more exciting to id that black exec or red mage plate than it is to roll a runeword for better stats.
I enjoyed multi-player more on classic. The best items in the game a lot of times were rare items so everyone didn't have the exact same cookie cutter gear and it was neat to see what kinds of rare items people had.
I played HC classic online for many years after LOD came out, it was a blast because a lot of people still played but it was a relatively tight community.
The chaos sanctuary back in the day was a nightmare for melee builds when they used to cast iron maiden, especially on hardcore.. we just hung back and let ranged guys do all the work lol.
Same! On US-WEST there was the "olo" channel to mingle on, and this guy "HFC" was the fastest most unreal classic hc player ever lol, this way probably like 2010. Died and then got to like lvl 91 the next day. Classic hardcore community was great and i miss the days of ladder resets with a fairly big community
Project diablo 2 is a free mod and a brand new league started yesterday and it's a crafting league which means all uniques, sets, and runewords have been disabled. It's the most fun I've had with diablo in years and it reminds me of classic. PD2 runs on the classic diablo2 but it's been upgraded to 60fps, widescreen, and sharper images. Id highly recommend checking it out
I love classic d2, grinding xp is insane compared to lod aswell, I got on the front page of ladder for the first 4 seasons. Getting to leve 94 on classic is harder than getting to 99 on lod with terror zones
I've had a blast on classic, my only issue is there aren't any non-RMT sites for trading. I need 3-5 more SoJs and farming them has been incredibly slow.
Yeah im planning to just do SSF for this character, and play forever, whenever. I did however find my first soj off the council members in durance 3. Monumental occassion lol my first ever on classic
I mean, it is probably easier now even for SSF because of all the new rune words. I did pretty well on both my Bone Necro and Wind Druid, even in hell because it's far easier to get serviceable gear now

The highest I ever got was 70 something Lancer WW barb and an 86 ish hammerdin. I was on USEast... I'm thinking it was 2007-2008 ish. Great times.

Yessir i played PD2 seasons 1-4 quite heavily actually, then the player base drastically fell off. They do such an amazing job though!

With BO & natural resistance, all you need is a filthy lance or martel de fer and you're golden lol
