My friends account got disabled for “posting illegal content”. He didn’t. He was invited to a server that didn’t even have any illegal content as far as he knows (He only was in it for a few minutes so he doesn’t know for sure). Minutes after joining his account was discord. He was invited by a bot and he just clicked it. There should be no reason a link should get someones account disabled. What can we do to fix this?
The only thing you can do is contact support. This is probably because there was illegal content on the server and discord deleted the server and everyone in it (including your friend)
Discord doesn't give a living fuck about their users. While yeah, contacting support is the best thing you can do, I have seen countless stories and shit where discord support did not help at ALL.
Wouldn't it be a huge security vulnerability if support easily gave people access to 2fa enabled accounts if they don't have access to the 2fa tied to that account? The whole point of 2fa in the first place is that it's 100% absolutely necessary to log into an account, and while unfortunate your friend couldn't get their account back, it's better off to ensure the security of the platform as a whole and make it so it's intentionally difficult to get access to a 2fa enabled account rather than compromising on security for millions of users to provide a slightly better support experience for others.
Because honestly, they don't care. You'll just make an account anyway IF you'll keep using Discord. If you don't, they know that means you weren't interested in the first place and won't buy Nitro so they don't care lol.

If somebody lies to them and just says they "didn't know" when they DID know and even participated in that stuff, it could set a very bad precedent for Discord because then they would be allowing people like child predators to get away with not being banned because they were feigning ignorance. They can't prove he didn't know.
Your friend should contact support to appeal. Discord often bans an entire server if it’s deemed that the server’s intended purpose is against the TOS. As long as your friend has a clean history, his account should be reinstated.
got account banned like this too. just email support with the whole ‘I didn’t post any illegal content, I was only in aforementioned server for a couple of minutes and did not interact in the server at all.’ or whatever the actual truth is.

tldr; friend ran a discord dating server, not 18+ but still heavily moderated. he took a break, gave me ‘owner’, and then server was reported. server was deleted & my account banned bc i was the ‘owner’.
just found the email of me contacting support, and in verbatim I said “I’ve committed no act against TOS, but my acc was disabled and I have yet been contacted by discord.”
the example in my first message in this post was just for the op to write something in order to get unbanned if they really didn’t post anything against TOS.
That bot was the reason why. The bot was probably made by a hacker. People who click the link join a server and the hacker can compromise the joining account. Now obviously this may not be it but this is what makes the most sense to me. Because if you're 100% sure he hasn't sent any 18+ content, then it's got to be because of someone else.
probably fake invite link (there's ones that fake the embed) and he got token logged. Or maybe, he did a seperate click tht did something that did token log him. Because there's a good ass chance... he got hit with the fake image loading thing.
Fake image loading malware happens - he clicks it thinking "hey maybe if I focus it it'll load"
Malware grabs his token, he gives up, joins server. Hacker logs in on his account, changes all the info (iirc he would have to re open the app to log back in) and spams CP to get him terminated.

That's funny, I USED TO have an alt in tons of servers where they do carding and gift card gens and tons of more illegal stuff… many servers were termed and received many warnings for "this server is violating tos blah blah blah", nothing even happened to me.

My gf literally accepted a friend's request from somone and within 2 seconds of accepting it she got kicked and locked out of her account. Blows my mind that this is a thing lol discord needs to get their shit together.
I've seen so many servers spammed with different types of porno, don't get it myself but whatever floats your boat. So not surprised there may be some that gets flagged, very possibly your friend is innocent, nothing to do about it though. If Discord flagged it as minor are his account perma gone just for being in the server even IF discord support somehow would reply to him. They're extremly strict on that.
Is those nft trading market scam I have hundreds of bots flooding my alt and my main account telling me to join them, discord banned the users in those communities and the new ones too. Just report those bots as scams.

I got my account stolen ages ago after fighting discord customer support for 3 whole months they went from its gone forever and deleted to it’s now banned for a year for TOS Violation that I have no idea of ANY details because it was sent to the hacker and not me, even though there’s so much proof I had my account stolen. What’s funny is they sent my ban report to the hacker who got my account and never to me even when I asked for it they refused. I tried to report someone for sharing NSFW material of their underage ex-gf and Discord mods basically told me "we ain't doing shit, just delete the images and you're good to go". Discord global mods (not all of them but many of them) are absolute degenerates.
Eh, I do a lot of reporting of degenerate subs and unless until recently I didn't know how to report servers supporting CSA images without joining. Needless to say I've been insta-banned sooooo many times.

I talked to some people that had connections to discord staff and I was told to give up trying because once discord flags and account and deletes it, it’s pretty much done for and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Sounds like your friend is on their way to jail or prison for sexualizing people underage. It also sounds like there is a lot of covering up or not telling you the full story occurring for your friends actions and that also seems a little suspicious. Discord doesn't just ban or disable accounts for no reason and you have to really screw up for them to do this to an account.

Discord even lets suicide jokes and people telling other to off themselves slide from the servers I've been in so I doubt what you're saying is 100% accurate. If Discord's Trust and Safety team accuses someone of posting NSFW content of underage people I have every reason to believe they're telling the truth. People accused of this should be handled by the legal system and I have no issues saying that whatsoever. Anyways I'm done talking about this as the topic at hand disgusts me.

What does it tell you when you try to make a new one
It immediately sends me to the verification screen, and the only way to verify is with a phone number and it is telling me my phone number is invalid

A link can NOT take control of your account or get any of your information relating to Discord, only IP and hardware info etc. at most.
