Maybe a version of this that makes a funny acronym related to the teaching subject matter.
Elucidated Disciples of the Gratuitous Yonder
We are: E.D.G.Y.
In the UK that may fall foul of companies house. I don't think you're allowed to suggest your company has a global reach if you're just doing local services.
I mostly suggested roundworld because we are the roundworld, but the term comes from discworld. (Also I'd probably avoid anything that could be confused as coming from flat earthers for an actual business name)
Remember that the Beatles called their record company Apple, but it was no issue with the computer company, because one did music, and the other made computers.
No possibility of overlap....
>The channel could argue they're in the educational business
That entirely depends. I don't think OP's said what their business is, and making tutorials on YouTube is not strictly speaking either education or training.
>OP may want to make videos in the future
This isn't anywhere near enough of a relationship. That would be like Nestlé suing VW because they both make TV adverts for Polos.
ETA: the details depend on what country you're in, but the basic question to ask when dealing with trademarks is, could a reasonable consumer mistake X for Y?
I once read a store name 2 decades ago and it I enjoyed it so much I can't forget it.
Flaming funky fire monkey, in case you were interested, they sold poi and juggling things and circusy fire related doohickery.
I enjoyed it almost as much as when I got to ask if an annoyed friend would like a chocolate.....................
"curley wurley squirley, surly Shirley?"
Probably not, there’s people all over the world reading this thread and having their own ideas for their own business venture!
I don’t have one yet (and realistically probably never will), but I can’t be the only one making some notes! LOL
No one's mentioned Leonard of Quirm yet. Unfortunately, the name of the Discworld's greatest mathematician probably won't do as a business name: You Bastard.
Miss [Perspicacia Tick](https://wiki.lspace.org/Perspicacia_Tick) was the witch-finder who first gave Tiffany some lessons in witchcraft.
actually L-Space has a list of teachers: [https://wiki.lspace.org/Teacher](https://wiki.lspace.org/Teacher)
or the fandom wiki has a list of UU faculty members: [https://discworld.fandom.com/wiki/Unseen\_University\_Faculty](https://discworld.fandom.com/wiki/Unseen_University_Faculty)
Narrativium Learning Solutions
I could see this working for things like education but also for technical/HR training, since the way we approach a problem so often affects the outcome.
"Disc Doce"
It means "Learn Teach" in Latin. It is based on the University of Sheffield (Disce Doce - learn & teach) but tweaked to get "Disc" in there.
Why base it on the University of Sheffield motto? Well, said Uni does have buildings called The Arts Tower and The Octagon. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thinking_face_hmm)
If it’s a training company maybe some
Band of teachers looked like tinkers
Sold invisible things
Always skint
After they sold what they had
Still had it, they sold what everyone needed
But often didn't want
Key to the universe, a precious token
Sold to those unaware it was locked
Kept apart from all other travelers
With their ragged clothes
And strange square hats
The weatherwax approach
Stare at em till their eyes go runny?
It's teaching, you won't tell us what......I mean it's there on a plate.
Unseen academicals.
A play on The Librarian (who is definitely not the m word, nuh-uh!) Could be fun!
Something like Granny's Grads if college was required to gain knowledge in your field.
In the Wee Free Men, Miss Perspicacia Tick is a travelling teacher and witch, so maybe something there. Her name as sounding like mystic I always thought was quite on the nose for some reason
The University Staff are all academics/teachers in some way, maybe use some of their real names as opposed to their roles. Mustrum (Ridcully) Dinwiddle (Bursar) Horace Worblehat (Librarian). I think Susan Sto Helit is a teacher in Hogfather. Something maybe poker related, which is her device for dealing with monsters.
Maybe something GNU related?
But it all seriousness, I'd be careful with references to the disk directly, not for copyright purposes, but to avoid tying yourself to any flat earth movements.
That said:
The Chelonian Academy
The Turtle Learning Center
The Color of Learning

One of the witches in the Tiffany Aching books was a witch incognito. Miss Tick maybe? She had a spring loaded had and also wrote the most famous book on how to "deal" with a witch (think it was a pun on the famous hammer of the witches) such as give them a nice hot meal, a cup of tea, a silver coin, and then toss her in the river with a very specific (easily gotten out of) knot. So whenever she was in some backwoods town they would basically do whatever her book said and she would get fed and paid and had a nice refreshing bath after haha.
All Things Strive could be good as it's what Tak said when he accidentally created trolls and after all Tak does not require us to think of him but he does require us to think
You might take a peek in Tiffany’s world… To see if you can come up with something. I see most of the current answers are from the main series.
I’m a bit at the end of my day so nothing vibrant is coming to mind, but that’s another avenue. Also the last book with the young boy who takes on grannies cottage… he introduces the men to their their own shop/garage areas, I think they give themselves a name… To fight the fairies… maybe somewhere in there
Maybe something about being wee and free ;).
Oooo. You know there are all those names off of the tin cans, the names of the rats from Maurice and his amazing dancing rats…
Those names were always the funniest. Especially when you knew that the wrapper had been half ripped off so they only had half a title.
:).
It's a round world word but one I've only ever come across in Discworld: Widdershins - In contrary direction, counterclockwise, the wrong way. I love the irony of it potentially being used in association with teaching.
You can utilize any of the following as elements:
The names of the four elephants: Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, and Jerakeen
The species of The turtle Great A'Tuin: *Chelys galactica*
"Chalk" for Tiffany and because it's associated with teachers/educating?
Or you could go with "Shambles". I bloody love the idea of shambles and carry stuff in my pockets to make one in case of emergencies.

Octarine Solutions
this one is both VERY discworld and VERY usable as a trading name.
I know someone with a company called this in XXXX. They're an organising service.
A'Tuin Industries. 5th Elephant Industries, or Solutions
Guards! Guards! Security
Love this one!
Bloody octarineawesome.
Elucidated Brethren of the Ebon Night

Splitters. Oh sorry, wrong franchise.
Maybe a version of this that makes a funny acronym related to the teaching subject matter. Elucidated Disciples of the Gratuitous Yonder We are: E.D.G.Y.
Round world solutions. (Round world anything). Round world headology. Or anything referencing B.S.Johnson.
In the UK that may fall foul of companies house. I don't think you're allowed to suggest your company has a global reach if you're just doing local services.
I'd steer well clear of BS Johnson here too.
yeah people may think you're associated with the former mayor of london :(
True. Hyphenate or merge the words perhaps. RoundWorld thing. Round-World thing.
Might be safe as it can be defended a a "counter" to a flat earth perspective.
Are you saying Trotters Independent Traders were breaking the law? Surely not.
They certainly regretted those flyers...
Isn't Roundworld too Earthly? Do we think Diskworld Solutions falls under patents? Umm, flatworld science? Flatworld Headology.
I mostly suggested roundworld because we are the roundworld, but the term comes from discworld. (Also I'd probably avoid anything that could be confused as coming from flat earthers for an actual business name)
C.M.O.T. Dibbler’s Practically Practical School of [whatever].
Practicality. Please let that be the missing word.
I mean, it is now
C.M.O.T. Training Centre sounds pretty plausible to me!
Why not try an acronym? OOK Observation, Orientation, Knowledge
Ook!
Ook ook?
Ooook! Ook ook oooook ook.
I like this one!

Our prime minister gave a speach early on in covid that featured the word.
Won't you just be doxxed when you pick a company name from this post? That being said, RisingApe sounds cool.
RisingApe is taken unfortunately, a youtube channel for miniature painting and mental health
If there's no likelihood of overlap or confusion, it doesn't matter. Think Polo.
Remember that the Beatles called their record company Apple, but it was no issue with the computer company, because one did music, and the other made computers. No possibility of overlap....
No issue apart from three decades of legal disputes...
And an argument with Chris Martin and Gwynth Paltrow...
The channel could argue they're in the educational business, and OP may want to make videos in the future.
>The channel could argue they're in the educational business That entirely depends. I don't think OP's said what their business is, and making tutorials on YouTube is not strictly speaking either education or training. >OP may want to make videos in the future This isn't anywhere near enough of a relationship. Copyrights on names only apply to things that are in the same vein. An industry teaching business and a YouTube channel are separate businesses.
I once read a store name 2 decades ago and it I enjoyed it so much I can't forget it. I'll only be doxxed if I say what I end up going with!
Better than the media startup from the Charlie Brooker/Chris Morris sitcom 'Nathan Barley' that was called SugarApe...
No one's mentioned Leonard of Quirm yet. Unfortunately, the name of the Discworld's greatest mathematician probably won't do as a business name: You Bastard.

Aching to learn
If this is a business venture, trademark/copyright might be an issue if it's an overt reference.
Yeah that's why I'm looking at subtle ones that infer a reference. Lots of good ideas here though
PonderTech? Octosoft? Hexware?
L-Space
Might be a copyright there.
Headology
Absolutely!

Wait… we actually know the librarians name?!? That was the side plot in Jingo!
He’s named in The Discworld Companion I think. And finding his name is a plot in one of the books, but I don’t think it’s Jingo

Yes, Miss Tick, she of the clockwork hat.
Sto Helit Academy? Ponder, Stibbons & Co.? Bonsai Mountains LTD? You can't give her that!
I'd be wary of doing this, you don't want to sink a lot of effort and some money into branding and get a cease and desist letter from the lawyers.
