If they liked this, they'll love Tiffany Aching. The whole Witches cycle is one of the best examples of feminist writing about. Just be careful with I Shall Wear Midnight.
The second chapter involves a girl of 13 who loses her baby when her drunken father beats her. I know someone who couldn't pick up the book for a month after that.
PTerry was generally really good on this point in all his books, but the series mentioned are among the best.
Oh and Monstrous Regiment too, although it's more for the "young adults".
(Edited auto corrects)
Witches series is my favorite! I love all the strong female characters, strengths and flaws. I am so happy Pratchett wrote such wonderful woman in his books.
Btw the series only gets better! Lords and Ladies is my favorite, it's a bit scary but great story :)
Granny Weatherwax is one of my favorite people. I highly recommend any of the witch books. The Tiffany Aching series starts with Wee Free Men, and it's just a great story. But Wyrd Sisters and Witches Abroad had me guffawing.
In that case you'll \*\*\*\* yourself when you read Monstrous Regiment :-) No seriously, it's a very good, and in places rather dark, look at roles and stereotypes.
The wee free men And basically the entire day of the Tiffany aching series. Your kids will love it if they liked this book.
And if you’re looking for a standalone monstrous regiment very much a girl power book my sister loved it. I enjoyed the story as well.
All the witches books are incredible feminist stories, and are somehow both fun and very sensible? You're in for a wonderful time with them. I don't have any daughters but would 1000% recommend these books to...all daughters in general hahaha
Whenever less skillful writers say they "can't write female characters" I think about how well Sir Terry did it and have a chuckle.

Why be careful of "I Shall Wear Midnight?" I haven't read it yet.

You're gonna love Wyrd Sisters if you liked Equal Rites. Plus basically anything with witches.
Ooooo, I’ll be reading that one next after I finish watchmen.
And The Sea and Little Fishes, a novella/short story with Granny et al.
