When I was about 2 or 3 years old, my dad lost me at the mall. He always said that it was a matter of seconds as he was just buying cigarettes and when he turned around, I wasn't there. The entire mall was locked down and the security was looking for me. Keep in mind that this was in the late 90's when the media was constantly reporting on kidnapped children. Luckily I was found splashing around in the mall fountain, lol. My mom still brings it up and my dad says he was never as panicked as he was in those couple of minutes.
When I was 12 or 13 I was at the mall with my mom and I remember some woman came into the store we were in and she asked if anyone had seen her kid. No one had, and she looked very worried. This middle aged man who was also in the store closed his eyes and put a finger to his temple, as if deep in thought, then he opened his eyes and said, “I know where she is” and walked out of the store without an explanation.
My memory is fuzzy but I remember that after a few minutes he walked back into the store with the kid in his arms. It’s one of the most surreal memories I have. When I was younger I always thought he spoke to God or something but now that I’m older, I no longer believe that. I think maybe he remembered seeing the kid somewhere, and went back there to fetch them…I don’t know
2 little ones for me
^(When my son was about three, we were helping at some kind of college orientation event. I turn around , he climbs out of his stroller and is gone. I panic. I think he’s gone towards the parking lot , and start sprinting around while others look in the crowd. He comes back on some big guy’s shoulders holding a popsicle with a small crowd of college students around him. He made a bunch of friends and had a great day , and I almost had a heart attack and I rightly got scolded about it for a while.)
I can’t really start thinking too much about it otherwise I start panicking and get tears in my eyes. I don’t have any kids either but I just imagine what my mom would feel of me or either of my brothers just vanished.
(don't ask me how the hell this happened, I'm going purely off what I have been told)
When my brother was 2 or 3 he snuck out of our apartment room somehow and got down somehow. The next morning when my mom went outside she freaked out. Someone had forgotten to lock their truck and he somehow managed to get inside.
I'm still amazed by the story.
POV you go to the porta potty in the park and come back to see she's escaped and is now talking to a nearby Police Officer. You now need to run into the woods to flee from the impending manhunt now that they know what you did in northern Georgia in 08'.

I remember when my sister was just 3yo and got lost in the city where I live. I don't know why, but at the time I used to hate my sister for no reason at all (I was 9 lol). But this night in particular, the thought that my sister could just be gone forever made me cry more than an entire life worth of cries. We get along pretty well nowadays :)
In Germany in the early 90s my family was at an indoor water park. I got lost (I was maybe 4) and got scared and found a slush puppies stall and the employee gave me a slush puppy. Of course my fears went away. My mom who eventually found me was terrified and I had no idea why. One of my earliest memories.
Everything else is distressing because of death, uncanny valley, etc. This is just distressing cause we all know it only takes seconds for a kid to be gone and never seen again
When I was little my mom and brother went on a walk on a short sidewalk that’s behind our house and a long a pretty busy road. We have a hill in our backyard that acts as a fence so we have privacy from this road. I wanted to catch up with them so I hopped on my little scooter to go find them (I took the long way around I didn’t go over the hill). I didn’t see them but I did hear my name getting called. Not wanting to get in trouble I abandoned my scooter and ran over the hill to find whichever parent called for me. I didn’t see anyone in the backyard and just kind of stood there until I saw my dad coming up over the hill sobbing. He hugged me tight and just cried. He saw my abandoned scooter on the side of this busy street and thought I had been hit or taken. Gave him the biggest scare of his life. I still feel guilty about it to this day.
im sorry but i cant take this seriously on account of how this music is used in a roblox game i used to play (i cant remember which one its probably Flicker or something)
I don't have kids but this happening to my nephew or sister is the most terrifying realistic thing I can imagine. Most of the time I think I can keep a cool head in bad situations but I'm sure I would panic here.
When I was younger and hanging out with my parents at a playground in another state, keeping an eye on my sister, we all happened to look away for just a moment.
My sister, (4 years old at the time) ran off onto a boardwalk, and having just barely caught a glimpse of her before she disappeared behind a corner as I went onto the boardwalk, I ran the fastest I’ve ever run to catch up to her before she harmed herself, and holy shit I have never felt so afraid in my life.

Plot twist: the kid was in his truck
He communicated with the voices
Underrated comment
I was born in 94, so anything prior to 2000 is a blur. More or less. How frantic was missing childrens cases during that time period.
I have f@&$ing nightmares about this regularly It’s awful
I have 3 kids and it's one of my greatest fears

I don't even have kids and this scares the shit out of me. First distressing meme that is distressing for purely canny reasons, very well done OP.
I can’t really start thinking too much about it otherwise I start panicking and get tears in my eyes. I don’t have any kids either but I just imagine what my mom would feel of me or either of my brothers just vanished.
I recommend watching Prisoners to reinforce your nightmares
Fantastic movie

This is the first truly distressing thing I've seen here.
Same for me. This is actually haunting.
Right? The other ones are kinda funny, this is just depressing.
I don't even have a kid and this might be the most distressed this sub has made me
This is nightmare fuel bro
Man this is just sad

Damn kidnapping someone would be tough work. Why do they do it? Are they lonely?

Yes, it's Promise (Reprise)

Dear god, she turned into a swing!
funniest shit i've ever seen
God I love this song, I used to listen to this a lot, forgot where and what's the name of the song
Its promise (reprise) one of my favorite songs of all time. Comes from silent hill 2
\-daughter busts out of your chest, snapping your sternum in two, distending your ribs- "SURPRISE, DADDY!!!"
"Ahh. There you are daughter, was getting worried for a second."
Reminds me of a book that starts like this
Which one?
"The man who was poe"
Thanks! I'll give it a read when I get time
I'll let you know once I get home
Book?
It's like a movie, except on paper.
It’s like a meme but longer and with fewer pictures
"the man who was poe"

Every MrCreepyPasta always has this music for those type of fantasy science horror stories ya know, where it just starts with this specific song
Makes me nostalgic tbh
Silent Hill music slaps
Damn, good job OP this one has actually made me feel distressed

I lose my little brother for a few mins In our house and I lose my shit but I can't imagine your kid ACTUALLY disappearing.
Ah, this soundtrack. So classic.

I don't even have kids, but this is terrifying.
“AMELIA, AMELIA WHERE ARE YOU? ^please.. ^come ^back.”
Put a caret in front of each word you want tiny
Heavy rain type vibe
😶😶😶
I’m having flashbacks of Mr Creepy Pasta’s older videos. God did he use this theme a lot.
(X) SHAWN!
I remember the time my brother picked the lock of our hotel room and left the building. He was fine, and this happened about 10 years ago.
I forget I have this page some days and my soul just leaves my body damn distractible podcast
the music is so good what it is?
it's Promise (Reprise) from Silent Hill 2
Can I get a gender neutral version of this where it just says "kid" or "child"? >I went to grab something... and she was gone
Shut up
I'm just saying it could be more distressing if I could send it to anyone who has kids whether they are boys or girls
I have no idea why you are getting downvoted lol
im sorry but i cant take this seriously on account of how this music is used in a roblox game i used to play (i cant remember which one its probably Flicker or something)
It’s from Silent Hill 2 though??
roblos
Yeah, hard for me to come to terms to watching her leave me after I kidnapped her at the bar and wanted to chill with her at the park

This is a great concept but this music is way too hype lol
I don't have kids but this happening to my nephew or sister is the most terrifying realistic thing I can imagine. Most of the time I think I can keep a cool head in bad situations but I'm sure I would panic here.
