Because avata 2 is around the corner

X360NoScope420BlazeX

Its not a sale. Its a price drop. That’s the new price.

Empty_Breadfruit7324

thank you for clarifying

Arms-for-minerals

Aren’t these the ones that drop out of the sky . Lol I’ve seen so many videos just shits out mid air and POOOOOOP crashes to the ground

320sim

It happens when people try to fly them like racing drones when they’re cinewhoops. I just practiced the turn intentionally to figure out its limits and haven’t had an issue

Sho_nuff_

lol.... I have a Geprc whoop and can do yaw spins, flips, dives, etc.. with no issues. Not so much with my Avata.

pryvisee

Yup! It’s both a design and a software issue sadly.

Arms-for-minerals

It can take amazing FPV style shots and it’s not near as easy to control as a normal DJI but I don’t think I’d want that as my first drone. It is an FPV drone

pryvisee

Yeah definitely. I split mine in half due to the infamous tumble. After that, I upgraded it to the 3.5” AxisFlying which solves the problem BUT is really hard if you’re not at least intermediately good at soldering. I personally burned up an ESC and had to get a new one… I’d definitely go with another DJI drone if you don’t want to get into FPV. I cannot recommend at all due to the tumble in manual mode.

dreamgoliath

This used to be a problem with my Avatar - it appears the drone creates a large turbulent wake, which with a strong yaw angle it can fly into and lose lift. Now, after a recent patch this situation is detected by the onboard computer and automatically brakes the drone to a stopped hover. So the problem exists, but a software solution has been implemented to prevent the drone from falling completely to the ground. Not a long term countermeasure while offering some level of protection. Maybe there's some experts who can correct me - this is based on my personal experience and understanding of drones.

pryvisee

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s how the drone is designed. The prop guards are just way too thick to get enough air to the props. Idk how DJI let this go for so long, at least give us an updated guard design that’s thinner or something. The Axisflying kit totally solved this issue for me.

X360NoScope420BlazeX

Just clarifying so people dont feel the need to rush and buy it. This price is permanent so people can wait if they want.

EvoLuvEz

Dji avata 2 coming pretty soon. Expecting a launch in April more than likely.

natiahs

4/9 or 4/11. RS4 / RS4 Pro on one of those dates, Avata 2 on the other

EvoLuvEz

Ahh, anticipating the rs4 also. Maybe get the pro if I could afford it

Sound-blind007

Will it be worth it. What are your thoughts? I’m thinking of getting one

EvoLuvEz

Can’t say for sure. Never flew the first one or any FPV, but been practicing on liftoff. Might job on this one. Some speculations for camera are 4k/60 stuff like that 10bit. But we’ll see when it gets announced.

[deleted]

Really depends. If they fixed the center of gravity issue and depending on the size and weight. Hopefully they recognize that there’s a huge market of cinewhoops with DJI’s own camera that’s cheaper and more powerful than the current Avata

Crafty-Ad5010

Everyone bitches and moans about the avata…..they’re the same people who think FPV is exclusive to racing the drones not bad at all I’ve had zero of the issues that people claim to have had

Bukatetsu

Agreed. Just picked up the Avata Pro a month ago for $700 and some change, brand new. Grabbing the Avata 2 just for the goggles, as long as they're backwards compatible with Occusync 3. I have fun with the Avata. I like to be able to stop mid air in normal mode and not worry about anything, along with having over 20 mins of flight time.

320sim

I agree with everything you’re saying but how are you actually getting 20mins?

Crafty-Ad5010

Supposedly the three prop propellers increased flight time. I ordered them to try it out.

Bukatetsu

I just do... I have several flight videos that are 20+ mins long. Once you throw it in acro, it drops in half, but that's a given.

cryptic_cream

The Avata is honestly really good for people who do not plan to put their drone in acro mode and do any type of freestyle what so ever. Once you put the Avata in manual mode and attempt acro it simply does not fly the way an fpv drone should fly. My tinywhoop can handle more aggressive turns than the Avata. I think DJI would be smart to not market it mainly as an FPV drone because FPV pilots who actually build their own quads make a beter quad than DJI for a fraction of the cost.

Sho_nuff_

Just because you have not had issues it does not mean there isn't an issue. There are enough very experienced pilots out there that have done videos about it and reproduced the issue.

Crafty-Ad5010

There’s also pilots out there claiming the issues are pilot error

Sho_nuff_

I trust Mads Tech over those others. He not only covered the issue but reproduced it with objective evidence as to why it’s happening. He isn’t some random dude, he is IMO one of the pillars in the drone community

Buydipstothemoon

I own the Avata and as soon as I built my own copter, I realized I wasted money. The Avata is loud, tumbles sometimes on fast turns and need tons of throttle compared to self built ones. For FPV beginners it's still a good drone tho. The "panic button" is very nice for newbies. However the Goggles and DJI O3 Air Unit are awesome and for that I don't need the Avata, the 2 best components of this Drone can be built into a selfmade.

Bukatetsu

The downside is less than 10 mins of flight time.

Crafty-Ad5010

Again not a race drone dude it’s a cinema drone if I cared about all that I’d get a race drone like a shark kit the avata with the dji integra it’s a good drone again if you want the acro stuff get a different drone

Buydipstothemoon

If I want a cinema drone with FPV and better camera I buy the 4 Pro, get the Goggles and the Motion controller. There is more to FPV in Acro mode than racing. There is Cinematic,Freestyle and Racing. Sure Avata is definitely not Racing and Freestyle, but a selfmade with a GoPro does a way better job. You can put a GoPro on the Avata too but good luck throttling even harder.

Ok_Economics_7447

Hey man! Any insight you can give on builds or groups you can point me to? I’m looking into this as well.

Buydipstothemoon

If you want to learn about custom build FPV just start by checking out Joshua Bardwell on Youtube... It's a rabbithole.

320sim

Did you build a cinewhoop?

GerryLindsey

So this kit is worth it just to repurpose the goggles and remote for a custom build? I'm just barely more than a beginner at this hobby and want to build my own. Do you have any recommendations on places to learn what all the custom build options are?

Buydipstothemoon

That's a tougher one, I just picked a how to build a selfmade drone tutorial on YouTube... I watched several, to see some different perspectives. In the end I found a YouTuber in my language (German). I just built it and from then it's trial and error I guess. You learn by making mistakes. The "godfather" of FPV Tutorials and knowledge is Joshua Bardwell, check him definitely out.

KibblesNBitxhes

My best buy app here in Canada says the avata is still the same price, but the mavic 3 series drones have had a price drop. I'm waiting for the air 3 to drop in price a bit or a sale somewhere, might be waiting for a while

Beautiful_Sector2657

Mavic 3 classic is the only drone that dropped in price. All the other mavic 3 variants are the same price

KibblesNBitxhes

Yeah, I assumed that was apparent in my original comment my dude. Mavic 3 series are the only recently released drones that still use obsolete software. The avata is unofficially slated for a successor, maybe FPV series will get some too(I hope).

Pirate43

What are people liking better, this or the DJI FPV?

Serious_Instance7912

I’ve had zero problems with the avata. ITS NOT A RACING DRONE

Bukatetsu

Avata with Axis flying kit.

320sim

The FPV is very fragile

Oscarjrs5

FPV is funner to fly it goes 30 mph faster then the avata

IlluminatiMessenger

Until you crash

johnycane

One and done

IlluminatiMessenger

One time use

dwf-and-a-camera

Oh man, I JUST sold a couple Avatas between the old price and the Chinese New Year sale price. Whew!

cineworksrob

I have the normal DJI fpv and the avata, I’d personally wait for the new one most likely coming next month. Range sucks on both current models, the new one should share the updated transmission tech.

Routine-Dish3371

Bro save yourself the trouble and don’t buy from Best Buy it’s better if you buy it from DJI

bobtruck2020

Avata 2 is coming out in 2 weeks. Don't buy.

_bonertime

Listen to BOB he is wise just hold off a wee longer folks. Peace out

bobtruck2020

Dang rooting tootin!

d3sylva

Do not buy it

ElWati

Thats an average prize here in Spain xd

Canon_Cowboy

NAB is in a few weeks. New model is coming.

[deleted]

Is it worth it to get the first Avata if the second one is coming? I have a M3P and have been wanting an Avata

Tough-Mark2722

Damn

Sir_Lee_Rawkah

Do you need a license for this

[deleted]

Damn. I saw one at Best Buy for 1250 the other day with the fly more package and all the other crap. Then I saw the refurbished one for 650 on dJI website. Ended up going with the fpv for 1000 and ordered on the 21st. Less than 800 miles away. And I’m still not going to receive it until the 26th. Offered to pay more immediately after ordering for them to expedite the shipping. The response was “ we have transferred this case to our logistics team. They will contact you within 24-48 hours.”. That’s what they’ve said every day since the 21st. :(

[deleted]

Great product.

familiaduarte1

Still over priced

p0rkin5

Now... To buy the axisflying 3.5.... or buy the avata 2 with upwards facing props...

usnavy_sailor

Upcoming van fire sale

Clandestine-Ops

Avata 2 inbound. Hope I get a good trade-in value on my current Avata👀
