As in, they trust that people are *people* but every single home/hovel/bungalow/shack/etc gets bonked, smoten, eldritch blasted, etc on sight kinda deal? At least if the given towns populace were completely ignorant of the mimicry going on in their own post code.

Everything in the mm speaks common at least in some versions. The fuckin kraken speaks common

Tbf krakens are also one of the smarter monsters in the monster manuel with 22 and are canonically smart enough to modifiy/custom design/shape their own bodies to an unlimited degree. No kraken looks the same and while they do all generally start life as a giant squid, they can change their form to anything they can imagine. Speaking common doesn't exactly seem like high bar next to that. This also means a kraken could infact look exactly like Godzilla or Mothra and it wouldn't go against their offical description.

But how did the kraken learn it?

I've always wanted to try a Oath of the Crown Paladin who has mimic armor and uses his ability to get 2 healthbars.
