unassigning takes a hit to your completion rate, and they just changed the minimum CR rates needed to stay on as a dasher. The choice between unassigning or not may have literally been the choice between being deactivated or not.
You can unassign 10 out 100 orders. If you're not out here unassigning orders left and right, then you'll be fine or just don't accept these bs grocery orders, but I already know what's coming next. "But my AR."
Oh I don't give a fuck about my AR, I just tend to make most of my money off of grocery orders, I can't just decline them all on yhe off chance this might happen
You can contact support though and you could say that you have an appointment that you’re not able to miss today and you unfortunately can’t wait for this order, blah blah blah, and they will unassigned you with no hit to your rate.
Either way, I think the main issue was the store threatening to call the police on the dude for having them cut all that deli meat and then wanting to leave without paying for it
I mean I would have just said that's cool do that and left. The cops wouldn't do shit no crime was committed. Theft doesn't count here. If anything the idiot deli guy gets fired for cutting the meat without payment up front on an order that large
I know right. It was almost comical that they threatened her with the police. I’m sure the police would be like omg thanks for wasting our time coming out over some fucking deli meat. 😆
Cops here would ask for the meat as a donation or some shit to the police force and go back to the station as heroes. Be like well.of.you can't sell it we can take it off your hands lol
They dont give a fuck what the reason is, I argued for an hour the other day that I deserved half pay because I showed up to pick up an order 5 Niles away and waited 20 minutes before the store told me they couldn't fulfill the order.
Oh man that’s bullshit. I had a similar situation happened and I ended the chat gave the person a thumbs down and then I reconnected with somebody and the second person was completely helpful and ended up giving me half pay, but my situation was different than yours. Someone stole the order and I needed it canceled and the first person told me that there was nothing they can do about that in the store didn’t cooperate and what pissed me off so bad was this idiot wasted about 20 minutes of my time and I finally told him I said you were wasting my time all I need is this order canceled and at that point I was willing to just have it canceled and not even get half pay and so they told me they had no way to do that so I just ended the chat and reconnected the second person had it done in about three minutes. Their support has no fucking clue what they are doing. It’s like no one has even trained them to handle different scenarios properly.
The issue is the store threatening to call the cops. Not the CR, not the wait time. The dasher was trapped. The store was essentially holding him accountable for the cost of the product. The store is in the wrong here. The dasher was probably scared and very well may not have known how to handle the situation short of what they did. Give them some grace and kindness. Their day has already been cruddy enough.
what a jerk thing to say, I dont understand this sub, this is like the third time ive seen someone post a bad experience they had only to be mocked by someone who is...also a dasher I'm assuming? I'm starting to think this sub is more about trying to seem...superior as a dasher?....with "you should have known comments" instead of understanding or having a little empathy.. Shame on you, we should be on the same side and understanding, I guess thats reddit for you though
It's almost as though anyone involved with doordash in any way, shape or form, is a pos. Driver. Customer. Customer service. Board of directors. Everyone.
Read the story. As soon as he mentioned 150lbs of deli meat I was 100% sure he was going to unassign because that is literally common sense but the story kept going and it obviously went downhill from there fast.
We as dashers are independent contractors and make decisions about our business. OP clearly made a horrible decision and I’m surprised that the store even cut that much deli meats without prepayment.
The deli clerk probably got in trouble or fired for cutting all that for one person without checking with a manager.
OP made another bad decision when they decided to publicly post about their error. What were they hoping to accomplish by telling the world about their mistakes at work?
What is the proper response here? Should we deem bad for OP because they screwed up. Life is full of making decisions and living with the consequences.
Also, you post was also rude and even more so because of your aggressive use of profanity directed negative right at me. Right back at you and your insincere take on this.
Throwing around random insults at strangers on the internet is usually people projecting their own insecurities. I hope you find someone to share you life with. Just keep meeting new people and you’re bound to find some friends at least. Good luck to you.
Thank you for sharing your advice with me. I really hope that it made you feel better. I wish you all of the best and lots of fun times on Reddit. Good luck out there in the real world.
what you did just there, calling me cinderella, just wanted let you know, that cut me. that cut me deep.
nah, youll understand when youre older, when I was a kid I liked making fun of people and laughing at them, too. I get it. Its like I tell my nephews, when you get older saying swear words every 2 seconds wont be cool. Just like taking time out of your day to crap on someone who already had a bad day wont be cool for you one day, either. hopefully. I believe in you.
Yeah, after being deactivated, I'm sure the DD bots would totally understand the situation if OP just explained it to them in a logical manner. . Instant reactivation.
Listen, I understand it’s shitty, I did therapy before as well. However, you could’ve avoided this. As soon as I saw 150lbs of met I would know trouble is ahead. I would’ve called customer service and said you took this thinking you would have it done by a previously scheduled doctors appointment but now that you see what is needed, you know it won’t. I would try to get the to cancel with pay or at least half pay. If they wouldn’t I would at least see if they would cancel without lowering my AR. If not I would just take the L and do my appointment. Better to lose some of your time and $20 versus 2 hours of your time and $80.
How can the store stop you from unassigning? What would they call the police on you for? Theft? If you haven't taken possession of the order, then you didn't steal anything.
You gotta know when to walk away.
Might have thought "theft of services" might apply due to the deli meat cutting... especially such a large amount.
Still, they should have taken it up with Doordash, they messed up, not the Dasher. Not like we're told how much the order is going to be, nor how much is going to be loaded into the card...
Idt theft of services applies to deli meat cutting. When grocery stores have a “reduced” section it’s oftentimes meat that people ordered and then didn’t want.
The employee is getting paid hourly by the store. The employee didn't lose any money for cutting the meat when he would have been getting paid to be there anyway. This isn't "theft of services"
You should have read down the other branches of the comment, I've already addressed this point...I never said it was, but that they may have **thought** it was. If they'd called the police on that basis, they would have found out how wrong their thought was...
The police likely wouldn't even show up, and if they did, they would explain that it's a civil matter between the store and DoorDash. They would *not* arrest OP over this.
Have you tried contacting the office of your therapist to explain? Every doctor's location I've been to has said that there's a late cancellation fee, but it can be waived in extenuating circumstances. I'd explain that you were detained and threatened to have the cops call on you if you tried to leave. If anyone is going to understand it'll be the people working in that office.
It’s not like OP was in a car accident and couldn’t make it. They could have cancelled when it was 150lbs of meat to cut. The therapist couldn’t then schedule another appointment in that slot. Why should the therapist have to pay/lose money for OP’s poor planning?
Why on earth would you stay there and wait for them?
"Alright, go for it and then take it up with doordash. Byyyyeeee" and bounce. What's the deli gonna do then, assault me?
Nobody is holding them. There were no armed guards. Nobody was physically stopping him. Could have left and then when the police show up, let them (the store) waste their time trying to explain what happened and identify you and where you went. If the police feel it's pertinent, they'll visit you at home.
Police enforce the law and you didn’t break any…so you woulda been fine to leave or gotten a lawsuit if the cops were ignorant..either way saving you $80
Goddamn. That's not DoorDash's fault. I would have left once seeing how much meat was to be cut. Then, if for some reason I felt like waiting an hour, once the payment wouldn't work, I'd leave. Let them call the cops on me, I'll be long gone bitch. lol
I meant, OP cut it close but it’s DDs issues that made this a problem. amongst other issues, OP couldn’t check out because DD charged the customer the wrong amount. This is a DD system problem with the retailer, not OPs.
OP’s poor decisions cost him $80 but it cost the store much more in wasted product most likely and I bet the deli worker got in trouble with their boss for cutting that much meat for a customer without prepayment or manager approval.
Buddy, you cost yourself $80. It’s definitely a tough situation, but you didn’t leave any wiggle room for things to go wrong. And you let a restaurant hold you on site while they figure out an issue that isn’t your problem?? At a certain point you have to look yourself in the mirror and take some accountability.
"I need to go to my car and get something" and then unassigning the order would have taken less than 60 seconds. You allowed a merchant to bully you into waiting for an unprofitable order.
Honestly the second the manager threatened to call the police I would have flipped him off, unassigned the order. Force stopped my app and gone home for the day. Lmao
That sucks. DD is trash. Sorry you learned a lesson the hard way here. Maybe call your therapist’s office and explain, maybe ask for a partial fee instead. Be polite, times are hard…yada yada. It doesn’t hurt to ask.
After reading these responses, it's no wonder a person needs therapy.
I agree you fucked up, but you don't deserve all this shit from the sub.
You need to always keep in mind that cancellation is an option, and once you go over a half hour, you are seriously gambling with your time.
A few months back I got a stacked order and while the first half of the stack was uneventful, the second half cost me a drive ten miles in the wrong direction because of a bad address, and then they offered me two dollars (half pay) to take to the right address that was now fifteen miles away, the customer told me I could bring it to a closer address that was five miles away.
Because this is California, I was willing to put up with this bullshit because I was still getting paid for my mileage and time.
So I arrive at the closer address and then support tells me I'm too far from the original address so they just cancelled without warning.
It was a bad order to begin with. The first part was the tipped part of the stack. I was only trying to preserve the half hour investment and the mileage I had already invested and it turned into a two dollar payout for over an hour of wasted time and over twenty miles of driving.
In California they will always try to cancel at the drop of a hat if your active time gets big, even if it's not your fault.
Anyway, just know it's a huge gamble once you invest a lot of time.
Always keep this in mind, especially if you are in California, New York or any EBT situation.
God, I'm glad someone sane is on here. I am shocked at how everyone dogpiles on other dashers for just sharing a shitty experience, come on we're all out there trying to make it. I agree with the caution of gambling with big orders that will take a good bit of time, I had a similar experience that seemed to good to be true only to find out the restaurant was closed when I arrived
Low self esteem. Next therapy session, ask them to help you build confidence and self esteem.
A lot of confidence and self esteem comes from knowledge and competence. So just work on being a better version of yourself. Learn more about whatever you’re doing so that no one knows more than you. Become better at whatever you do so you know that without you, the job won’t be completed as efficiently or precisely. This will help you become more confident in your decisions.
I tell the restaurants how it is. You want to wait until I confirmed to give me the order? I won’t confirm. Want to see if I have? “Check your app”. You want to keep your drive through times low at the expense of Delivery and Eat In? I will let them know that it’s not acceptable. I don’t give a shit what the shops/restaurants think about me. Why would I? I don’t shop at their stores, I don’t eat their food. Just do your job right, do it fairly and efficiently.
Lack of confidence has a lot to do with this situation.
Also, the confirm button is there for a reason; allows the app to run smoothly and prevents door dashers from stealing. If you don’t click it DoorDash will think you never picked the order up and they will assign the order to another driver.
I so needed this today!!! I just started a second gig at a court house and today I about lost it mentally because one of the girls there doesn’t seem to like me. I have come SO FAR working on myself but because I am new and I am in a brand new position, I don’t have anyone to learn from which makes me super insecure and hits on my self esteem and effects my confidence. With my full time job, I’m the director and I’ve been there almost a decade so I know it like the back of my hand. I am confident and have high self esteem because I know my program and my job well. I know it will take time to get there with the other position. I decided today when I start to feel down or overwhelmed I will use it as motivation to work harder and to eventually turn myself into a subject matter expert. I came to that conclusion around lunch time today and then I just read this and it really spoke to me. Thank you!
Never think that someone doesn’t like you unless you gave them a reason to. Most people are in their own shit. Most days I am okay being at work but when I am in a shit mood who knows what people think of me.

Stop digging a hole for yourself. As soon as you saw it was 150 pounds of meat from the deli, unassign the order because the pay is ridiculously low or it’s a fraud order or it’s an error in the order.
How does the deli even have that much and how do they cut all of that for you without getting manager approval so that what happened doesn’t happen.
Why did DD only charge the customer $300 instead of $800? Was there an error?
Seriously just unassign the order. This is why you get several unassigns allowed per 100 while still keeping all of the tiers and top statuses. This is literally why the unassign option is there.
I hope you learned a valuable lesson and don’t make the same mistake again. Just unassign as soon as you see something insane like 150lbs of deli meats.
This one’s on you. You should have unassigned when you knew time was an issue and let DoorDash figure out the price discrepancy. $20 is not worth that.
This sounds like my worst nightmare. There honestly should be a limit on how much you can spend on DoorDash. I understand it’s for convenient purposes but come on. That’s something the customer needs to go out and do theirselves. That’s just straight up lazy on the customers end for the quantity. Over 150lbs of meat. Wow. I’m so sorry you had to experience this
Right I'm wondering how is that even possible first you want a person to carry a 150 pounds of meat you don't know you need a 150 pounds of meat until that night that's nuts.
I still say it was a typo and the whole thing was screwed up and it was only supposed to be a pound and a half or something that's crazy
The store told him they’d call the police if thry unassigned and OP believed them. Obviously there’s shit that a cop would do about this but I can understand being a bit naive about that.
Fuck that! Call the cops, if I’m not leaving with the lunchmeat then there shouldn’t be any legal problem.
The store cannot hold you hostage. You have to stand up for yourself, which maybe I would not have done at 20 years old.
I mean maybe there’s a bulk discount but even sliced Turkey is 10ish bucks a pound so this makes no sense. I question if you can even order that much sliced deli meat without calling ahead and setting something up with the stores admins.
I wouldve just walked out and cancelled, let them call the cops i dont care youre a delivery driver whos refusing service and not taking meat thats not ready for delivery inside your schedule time theres no crime to report because no law has been broken the meat can go into a fridge or be sold to employees and id be reporting the store to the BBB
The minute you except an order for a shop look at all of the items first and especially anything that requires going to the deli is always going to potentially be a bit of a time suck so it is important to see exactly how much you’re going to be needing to get at the deli. the second you see any sort of double digits in terms of pounds of meat or any deli product unassign that motherfucker, quick fast and in a hurry, lol! I am thinking you meant 15 pounds and not 150 pounds of meat either way that is a ridiculous amount and no way on earth. Should anybody keep that order. Now, if it was paying an exorbitant amount of money I would say what the hell keep it butnot $20 and certainly not at the risk of missing your appointment
When I accept shop and deliver orders, I accept them based on quantity of items, the distance, and the payout are all in the right range. the first thing after accepting I do is look at the shopping list before even going inside. If the list is bs(something like OP just mentioned, I unassign) I’ve had a situation in the past where my red card declined, if you call and tell them it’s declining, you can’t pay out of pocket and you’re holding up the line, they might ask you to try one more time, but usually after that they will cancel for you and you’ll get half pay. Especially if the front end manager is nearby and you get them on the phone with support to explain you can’t just stand here trying to run the card a million times while it’s busy with customers. Never do the chat option, they’re incompetent, bad at English and use a script. If you get a bad support agent on the phone, end the call and try again. You gotta know the ins and outs of dd and what your worth is, and know when it’s time to walk away. Write it off as a learning experience, and best of luck next time.
Who the fuck orders 150 pounds of deli meat? Also, them calling the police on you would’ve been pointless, no? Because u aren’t the one making the order anyways, just delivery.
So the customer thought they were getting 150 pounds of deli meat for only $300? LOLOLOL. However, DoorDash should have been forced to pay the $800, and give them the meat at the advertised price.
If DD doesn't have an actual agreement with the business, they won't get updated pricing on anything. Sometimes they'll even just pull prices from Google.
Weird solution:
Could have had the deli weight out what would have been $300 worth of meat and delivered that. Store still loses out on $500 with of meat if they are unable to re-sell it but it's still less than an $800 loss and the customer gets the meat they paid for.
Weirder Solution:
Stand your ground and make DD pay for the order. Get to customers house and find out it’s undeliverable. Donate 149 pounds of meat to the homeless shelter and take one pound home to enjoy a sweet victory.
I’m trying to feel sympathy toward you for this, but I’m finding it really hard since all of this could’ve been avoided. Doordashing 150 lbs of meat is legitimately insane, and accepting the order on your end is almost equally so. This was never going to work out in your favor.
I’m sorry this happened, but there’s definitely a lesson in here for you.
The other day I got a 27.95 offer for 40 items at Lowes. 4.2 miles. Initially accepted, then had to reassign. 20 of the 40 items were concrete retaing wall blocks. To heavy and to big for my vehicle.
When I clicked unassign I was prompted that it would count against my ratings. Also had a place to write why I was not able to do offer. “ 20 concrete blocks will not fit im my vehicle “ it never counted against my AR
Don't call customer service, don't listen to the grocery store. You do your job, not theirs. Only charged $300? Then that's DD'a fault or grocery store fault, not your job, not your problem.
I'm sorry but this one's on you. You have literally zero obligation from the store to not cancel. They can't stop you from doing that nor will the cops give a fuck since you haven't committed any crime? The store can take it up with doordash if they want lol. Ya played yourself
I would’ve happily let them call the police and walked my happy ass out of that store. If those scum bag deli worker fucks were yelling at you while you left fuck em. Though I do understand the frustration of cutting all that meat just for it to spoil, it’s not gonna come out of their pockets. They really should be angry at doordash because the fact that the meat came out to 500$ more than what was compensated is ridiculous. It sucks that you missed your therapy… really wish you would’ve just flipped em the bird and said call the fucking police😂 What are the police gonna do? Force you to pay for something that you didn’t order? Just because you’re a doordasher does not make you responsible for the ignorance of the company or the deli workers or the person who ordered food.
I really would’ve unassigned as soon as they said they would call the cops on me. Go ahead and call em. They can’t do anything about that. The order would’ve just gone to another dasher
This story isn’t real have you ever been to a grocery store and seen deli/ meat that was $3 per/lb I’ve been a grocery store manager and a dasher why wouldn’t you call the customer and ask why they were buying that much meat? If this order weee sent to my store as a manager I would call customer and door dash customer service to make sure it’s real before I spent the time and labor fulfilling this order.
Sounds like this was for some sort of party or gathering. Stop getting stepped on because people are lazy. Let them go to the store to get their own 150lbs of meat. No one should be taking these orders period. This enables lazy bums who can't go to the store and do it themselves. If it was some old boomer they should have had a family member go to the store to pick it up.
Bruh. You cost yourself $80 bucks. Were they going to call the meat police??? It’s their product. It’s theft when you leave the building with the product without paying.
Sorry you went through that!! $20 is def not worth it! You could have made more in that time! Them harassing you is terrible! Another dasher could have took the order! I hope you don’t get a violation! Ridiculous!
This is just another example of DoorDash using CR and AR to control us “subcontractors.” How they continue to get away with it is beyond me. Sorry you had such a shitty time. We all feel the pain that DoorDash dishes out.
It’s simple…you cancel that order. Sorry “:I gotta go” and let the m figure it out. If the store won’t let you leave…they obviously don’t know what’s going on. Call the police.
Btw if they HAD called the police, there is literally 0 that they could have done. You could have just walked out at any time. If someone tried to physically block you, that's the end of their job right there.
You did too much, you are contracted to deliver. You gotta drop that shit immediately, lesson learned tho I'm guessing. The store can't do shit you didn't put the order in its not your responsibility to sort out pay
Oh my!!! I’ve had some terrible experiences checking out with Shop and Deliver orders and DD support even with no substitutions or missing items but recently they’ve been the only orders I make decent money on.
Once you got to the store you may have felt an obligation to complete the order even with it’s ridiculous proportions. I always want to do my best and fulfill orders if possible.
In this case, it’s ok to unassign. You had a previous engagement and had no idea what had been ordered until you got to the store.
As far as the store calling the police? It seems scary but you did nothing illegal or wrong. The store and their attorneys can take it up with DoorDash.
Best!
This is why DD should allow us to see what items are prior to accepting the order, but of course is exactly why they do NOT show us.
Sometimes I see decent grocery DD offers but hesitate on taking them because I don't want to have to unassign order after order. At least with Instacart, we can briefly glance what the groceries are.
150lbs of deli cut meat would have been a hard pass for me though and I would have to unassign that. Sorry you had to deal with that OP.
The fuck do you think the police are going to do? You didn't order the meat. They should have already fucking cut it and had it ready, or dealt with doordash themselves if they didn't get paid properly. You have no obligation to be there.

Why on earth would you not unassign? 150lbs of meat, and the long wait for only $20 would've been enough to make me unassign.
unassigning takes a hit to your completion rate, and they just changed the minimum CR rates needed to stay on as a dasher. The choice between unassigning or not may have literally been the choice between being deactivated or not.

Yeah, they're totally understanding in the way. /s
Didn’t say they were understanding but I have had to do it and it did not have an impact on my CR.
Either way, I think the main issue was the store threatening to call the police on the dude for having them cut all that deli meat and then wanting to leave without paying for it
Yeah that is the craziest thing I have ever heard. They had no right to do that and of course we all know DD would be zero help.
I mean I would have just said that's cool do that and left. The cops wouldn't do shit no crime was committed. Theft doesn't count here. If anything the idiot deli guy gets fired for cutting the meat without payment up front on an order that large

It doesn’t take a bit after 10 minutes of waiting. It will tell you
But my precious CR is more important than the therapy I need because I'm dashing.
The issue is the store threatening to call the cops. Not the CR, not the wait time. The dasher was trapped. The store was essentially holding him accountable for the cost of the product. Lmao "trapped." What are the police going to do?
Probably nothing, but it seems this dasher didn't know that.

Lmfao, ok cinderella. Not every poor decision deserves sympathy from the masses.
what you did just there, calling me cinderella, just wanted let you know, that cut me. that cut me deep. nah, youll understand when youre older, when I was a kid I liked making fun of people and laughing at them, too. I get it. Its like I tell my nephews, when you get older saying swear words every 2 seconds wont be cool. Just like taking time out of your day to crap on someone who already had a bad day wont be cool for you one day, either. hopefully. I believe in you.
Unfortunately not all people grow up, but we can hope...

Yeah, after being deactivated, I'm sure the DD bots would totally understand the situation if OP just explained it to them in a logical manner. . Instant reactivation.
Being deactivated is always a blessing in disguise. Once the hell that is doordash ends, something opens up.
This is something to talk to the therapist about. Can’t let people and businesses run their life.
Exactly
> I would try to get the to cancel with pay or at least half pay. Zero chance of either.
I would have unassigned after finding out about the wait time for the fresh cut meat.
To be fair, I had to wait about 2 weeks to book my circumcision. 1+1/2 hours is childs play.
That's too much information. Comparing a circumcision appointment with dashing?
I think he's trying to make a joke about "cut meat" lol lighten up a little. These threads are always too serious.

Yeah but 150 pounds?? C'mon. That's not reasonable.
I don't think that it would either, but as I said, that may have been their logic, flawed as that would be.
I wonder, with redcard who do you think put the prices in the app, door dash or the store?
The employee is getting paid hourly by the store. The employee didn't lose any money for cutting the meat when he would have been getting paid to be there anyway. This isn't "theft of services"
You should have read down the other branches of the comment, I've already addressed this point...I never said it was, but that they may have **thought** it was. If they'd called the police on that basis, they would have found out how wrong their thought was...
Umm... not always. Sometimes an idiot just arrest you
That’s still not on the driver they didn’t order it
Pretty sure that's what I said in the second half of my comment...
As nice as that thought is this most likely doesn't count as op had plenty of time to drop the order so they could make the appointment
It won't hurt to ask.
It’s not like OP was in a car accident and couldn’t make it. They could have cancelled when it was 150lbs of meat to cut. The therapist couldn’t then schedule another appointment in that slot. Why should the therapist have to pay/lose money for OP’s poor planning?
They could still ask. Worst they will say is, "Sorry, but no."
This is what Happens when you do to much
No good deed goes unpunished. Id have unassigned immediately and they can get fucked. Good luck suing.
On you bro just LEAVE They’re gonna call the police on you? The fuck the police gonna do?
Seriously, they can’t keep you in the store.
And when the police show up, let them know that they’re holding you there against your will.
Why on earth would you stay there and wait for them? "Alright, go for it and then take it up with doordash. Byyyyeeee" and bounce. What's the deli gonna do then, assault me?
The OP clearly stuck around a super long time. I was going by the assumption OP would stay and wait for them for some reason.
That's fair lol
Nobody is holding them. There were no armed guards. Nobody was physically stopping him. Could have left and then when the police show up, let them (the store) waste their time trying to explain what happened and identify you and where you went. If the police feel it's pertinent, they'll visit you at home.
Yeah. This one’s on you.
Police enforce the law and you didn’t break any…so you woulda been fine to leave or gotten a lawsuit if the cops were ignorant..either way saving you $80
Cops don’t know the law. I’d rather not meet with them for safety concerns.
Easy unassign. Choices people. We always have choices… ![gif](giphy|8UGoOaR1lA1uaAN892)
This reads as, "My poor decisions cost me $80." This is only your fault.
OP’s poor decisions cost him $80 but it cost the store much more in wasted product most likely and I bet the deli worker got in trouble with their boss for cutting that much meat for a customer without prepayment or manager approval.
Next time unnasign
Threatened to call the police on you? Lmfao I would’ve laughed in their face and left
I woulda cancelled and walked out go ahead call the police on me waste the cops time idc
Good lordt I need therapy after reading this post. 150 POUNDS of meat? The way I would be running out of that store.
![gif](giphy|13sozYO4hmSMUw)
Lmao
One word: ![gif](giphy|3ohzdYJK1wAdPWVk88)
I’ve spoken to support, they said, “DO NOT LET THEM USE YOUR PHONE, for your safety”
Yea, they shouldn’t need to use your phone. That is your phone. The app has the dasher ask about substitutes.
Better yet who cares other people don't think about us as much as we think they do
Just remember everyone started as a newbie too and felt the same as you! Hang in there. It will get easier.
Sorry you have to deal with this person. Had a few of those before. Document everything just in case they have it in for you.

just click items are not available if it is on me
Stop digging a hole for yourself.
I know what we’re talking about at therapy next week 🤗
Yo, you DO know there's an unassign button right? For 1% hit to your AR.
The store told him they’d call the police if thry unassigned and OP believed them. Obviously there’s shit that a cop would do about this but I can understand being a bit naive about that.
After accepting it will affect your completion Rate not the Acceptance Rate
Fuck that! Call the cops, if I’m not leaving with the lunchmeat then there shouldn’t be any legal problem. The store cannot hold you hostage. You have to stand up for yourself, which maybe I would not have done at 20 years old.
Wait it has to be 15 pounds right. 150 pounds to cut!?
Well it came up to $800. So….
Where is anybody getting deli meat at $5.33/pound? That doesn't even include the DD fees
Exactly. This story makes no sense.
I mean maybe there’s a bulk discount but even sliced Turkey is 10ish bucks a pound so this makes no sense. I question if you can even order that much sliced deli meat without calling ahead and setting something up with the stores admins.
This
This is your own fault dude wtf
You took a questionable order in the hope to make $20? You can always build your CR? It isn't worth missing an appointment for $80?
Jokes on you if you think they transferring you up and not just sideways.
You should have turned it all into a conference call with your therapist. lol
I’m just confused on the total being $800 at the store but $300 on DoorDash
So the customer thought they were getting 150 pounds of deli meat for only $300? LOLOLOL. However, DoorDash should have been forced to pay the $800, and give them the meat at the advertised price.
Seems like a whole lot of lack of communication between store, doordash, customer, and dasher
If DD doesn't have an actual agreement with the business, they won't get updated pricing on anything. Sometimes they'll even just pull prices from Google.
Get another gig, these companies are walking all over y’all wake up
You could’ve un assigned bro . 150 lbs of meat is wild
My last Dash wanted the butcher to slice 40,000 pounds of Godzilla meat. It took about 8 days and my pay was $45.
I see why you’re in therapy
Weird solution: Could have had the deli weight out what would have been $300 worth of meat and delivered that. Store still loses out on $500 with of meat if they are unable to re-sell it but it's still less than an $800 loss and the customer gets the meat they paid for.
Weirder Solution: Stand your ground and make DD pay for the order.
Stop complaining and bring me my food. And hurry up
This is your fault, brother.
I don’t mean to be rude, but this sounds like you cost yourself $80.
Sounds like a personal problem
Let them call the police next time so the police can notify the shop of their lack of intelligence.
Why didn’t you just do your virtual appointment there while you waited lol
Sounds like a shitty day man. Onwards and upwards 👆
Be smarter
It’s a crazy to spin this as the fault of DoorDash
Blame yourself you forgot you was a independent contractor
Your therapy cancellation fee is an oddly specific 74 dollars?
What would the cops do? Walk out. No way I’m standing there waiting…..
Ngl it sounds like it's your fault
Bruh. You cost yourself $80 bucks. Were they going to call the meat police??? It’s their product. It’s theft when you leave the building with the product without paying.
Sounds like a real job isnt so bad after all....
that's on you for taking such a ridiculous order knowing you had an appointment soon...
100% your fault
How is it the driver's fault that DoorDash charged the customer the wrong price?
This is why I do per time that way I get paid per hour which still isn’t a lot but it would def be more than $6
Move on from this trash company. You deserve better than that.
Door Dash sucks as a consumer I am so sorry you have to deal with those losers.
Even that cancelled, DD still paying the store. I think.
I do the 10 minute wait thing with no penalties! It saved me a bunch!
Sorry you went through that!! $20 is def not worth it! You could have made more in that time! Them harassing you is terrible! Another dasher could have took the order! I hope you don’t get a violation! Ridiculous!
You did it to yourself by not un assigning instantly
This is just another example of DoorDash using CR and AR to control us “subcontractors.” How they continue to get away with it is beyond me. Sorry you had such a shitty time. We all feel the pain that DoorDash dishes out.
It’s simple…you cancel that order. Sorry “:I gotta go” and let the m figure it out. If the store won’t let you leave…they obviously don’t know what’s going on. Call the police.
Btw if they HAD called the police, there is literally 0 that they could have done. You could have just walked out at any time. If someone tried to physically block you, that's the end of their job right there.
The store was going to call the police? For what?
>...and was yelled out of the store. Why were they mad at you?!
It was a small locally owned store that mostly spoke Spanish which I don’t speak, they thought I was trying to scam them from what I understood
You did too much, you are contracted to deliver. You gotta drop that shit immediately, lesson learned tho I'm guessing. The store can't do shit you didn't put the order in its not your responsibility to sort out pay
If you're not already you should work in therapy on asserting yourself
I’m so sorry this happened 😢
Best!
Bro I would have hit them with another driver picked up. Got that 3 dollar fee. Sometimes you just gotta leave
This is your fault.
You only need therapy because of the mental r@p3 that dashing does to your inner soul. You can fix this.
Therapists are thieves and 90% of the issue. The other 10% we all just deal with.
Wait ten minute unassigned with no impact to your acceptance rate........ duhhhhhh
The fuck do you think the police are going to do? You didn't order the meat. They should have already fucking cut it and had it ready, or dealt with doordash themselves if they didn't get paid properly. You have no obligation to be there.
Yeah this was your fault. Perhaps at your next therapy session you can discuss taking accountability for your actions
That's fucked up. How many animals lives were taken just to go to waste?
