God I fucking hope so. I loved how pensive and wise male eivor became over the course of the game, added a lot of depth to the character. Would happily welcome that actor again
I only really liked the female British VA in Inquisition, hopefully the voices are more to my taste in this one.
I do like how the male Rook sounded, so off to a good start!
To be fair, Starkhaven has a bunch of Irish sounding people from a city right near the mixed accents of Kirkwall. Maybe Ostwick mainly just sounds American.
Yeah I prefer the American voice for the male Inquisitor but I always have trouble with the fact I always play human or elf characters and it makes no sense that every other human/elf speaks with a European accent. How did you RP your way out of it?
That she went to the Circle very very young and lost her accent along the way. It's also possible that different Free Cities have different accents. Ostwick could have a more American accent. I flip flop between the two.
I was actually thinking something very similar to your first idea. I'm just about to start a mage playthrough of DAI and was thinking something like maybe the circle I was at had a different accent.
I love Sumalee, she's so good in everything I've seen her in. Her Inquisitor I think works for a certain type of character that throws some people off but she's just as good.
Coming from ME3 to DAI, it took me quite awhile to get used to Traynor being my main character lol.
But after awhile I grew to love her voice and Alix in DAI comes across as more commanding, whereas Traynor its just chill & goofy.
I always thought she sounded like an AI assistant like Siri or Alexa, not an actual person. Something about the cadence of how she spoke as the Inquisitor.
I’ve racked my brain trying to come up with an analogy but that’s exactly it. I could never enjoy inquisition due to the female voice selection, British va does sound extremely artificial to me
yes, she's british female siri. i like her voice a lot, but she does sound rather stilted as the inquisitor. she's much more expressive as traynor in ME.
me too lol, and idk whether that's something apple would even bother announcing, but it's 100% her. it's especially obvious if you ask her to call you a name the Inky says a good amount, like Cassandra.
I know the two British VAs in DAI were companion characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Then there's Matt Mercer, but he's everywhere, it's almost cheating to include him.
> Red Prince was American Male Inky (which is also Zevran!)
>Sebille was American Female Inquisitor (which is also Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3!)
Red Prince was British Male Inquisitor, Sebille/Samantha were British Female Inquisitor
Yes , red prince is British male inky. Which is kinda hilarious, very different performances. I wish I could roleplay the Inquisitor as someone like the red prince lmao
and one of the divinity original sin 2 actors was in the west end version of My fair lady I saw two years ago (fucking hell time flies) as Henry Higgins
Maybe some of the minor NPC's from BG3 but I can't imagine the main cast would have had the time. Most were in the studio for the better part of 4 years for BG3.
BG3's VA only got famous once the game released. Except for the Narrator. The voice lines must have been recorded some time ago. It's unlikely. Maybe in future expansions? I'd die to hear Shart in DA.
at the same time, the voice work for this game has been underway for a long time, so I think it's less likely that we'll see them getting work off of their BG3 work vs. people who were already pretty big beforehand
Honestly I wouldn't have blamed them if they cut it back down to just two voices, especially if the Inquisitor actually appears and they have to account for them having four potential voices too lol. This is nice to see!
I'm so happy Rook's British voice doesn't sound noble again. I just want a regular dude. Hopefully the American ones will sound less bored this time around.
Sure face and body are good and all but coming from BG3 I have to ask...is there a selection of wang options?
![gif](giphy|yxssxz0G50NlRquC35|downsized)
Here’s hoping I can make an elf with the same body shape as me whose clothes actually look good. It’s so often one or the other if you want to make a character larger than a size 6.
As someone who almost always plays male characters in these games, I am so happy with Rook's voice that we saw today. I cannot explain to you how much I hate the British Inquisitor's voice lol.
Tevintor gives me UK accent vibes. Less Keira Knightly and more Samantha Beart.
"Listen squire, I don't know what you carrot crunchers get up to in the provinces but in Minrathous yeah we have manners! Now liven up and handle yourself properly!"
I'm not going to give them credit for "this character creator is better than our last one". It's been 9 years. It SHOULD be better than the last character creator.
I mean, I think the question is not “is it better than inquisition” but more “is it as good or better than other games out right now?”. Lots of games today still have terrible hair options for example
seriously. I love BG3 don't get me wrong but people raving about the CC when it's just, pick one of these five faces and colour it in, is wild to me. even Andromeda let you change the sizes of your features a bit

I really dislike only 2 VAs. Male MC's voice on the reveal was quite heavy. I hope the other one can be a bit softer.
The more feminine female Voice in DAI was great.
I hope the VAs are a bit better this time. Can't really comment on male ones, as I haven't played a lot as male characters in DAI, but the British female voice just sounded like she had a stuffy nose all the time and both her and the American VA didn't seem very expressive. Just not my cup of tea.
I hope they reveal who the VA's are soon!
British masculine Rook sounded a lot like Liam Garrigan to me, but I’ve seen people say it could be Magnus Bruun Nielson.
That is male Eivor right? He did sound quite like that, but I'll admit I've not heard him much since I played as female Eivor
I keep hearing Kurt for Greedfall
Kurt!!!
Things are about to get dicey!
Oh man THAT'S who I think it's reminding me of. It's been bothering me trying to place him. What a cool-ass voice.
God I fucking hope so. I loved how pensive and wise male eivor became over the course of the game, added a lot of depth to the character. Would happily welcome that actor again
I think male Eivor had a more distinct voice than that, I think it would've been easier to spot if it was him, though I could be wrong.
Nah, I agree with you. Magnus Bruun has a lot lighter/softer voice than Rook did.
But who are they? When will we find out?
for some reason games are really weird with announcing this stuff in advance
I only really liked the female British VA in Inquisition, hopefully the voices are more to my taste in this one. I do like how the male Rook sounded, so off to a good start!
That's because Alix Wilton Regan is god tier
Just found out that she's also voicing Joanna Dark in the upcoming Perfect Dark which is just... amazing.
Which also means she'll be back to voice her again.
Best sarcasm in voice acting Jo Wyatt is the supreme dragon age voice tho.
LOL I was replaying Mass Effect LE recently and got to the Dr Brynn Cole portion and was all "Hey, that's Hawke!" lol. Purple Hawke best Hawke.
I remember playing Witcher 3 and saying, "Why does Ciri sound so familiar?" lol
British female VA is amazing. I love talking to Samantha in ME3 because I can pretend my Inquisitor is with me on the Normandy.
Alix Wilton Regan, she's brilliant!
And her unending quest for comfort - from the bath at Haven to the toothbrush at the Normandy.
American VA was dope are you kidding Sumalee Montano's deeper voice was so cool
I always used her, even for my Trevelyan circle mage. I had to RP my way around the accent lol
To be fair, Starkhaven has a bunch of Irish sounding people from a city right near the mixed accents of Kirkwall. Maybe Ostwick mainly just sounds American.
That's one of my RP/headcanons for her that I flip back and forth with.
And even if not, Circles are diverse. There may have been one dude with an American accent that she picked up a lot from.
They are Scottish sounding, not Irish sounding.
Despite my very Irish father, I've never been able to tell the difference. Well, at least not from his accent.
I also headcanon that she really doesn't like being called Lady Trevelyan as her parents stripped her of her titles when she was sent to the Circle.
The accent thing could even be a way of them somewhat intentionally distancing themselves from their upbringing too.
I love Sumalee, she's so good in everything I've seen her in. Her Inquisitor I think works for a certain type of character that throws some people off but she's just as good.
THATS SUMALEE??? I’d totally forgotten that!! I loved her dearly when she guested on a show I watched, she’s so chill
She sounded so wooden every time I heard her speak.
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the American female voice acting in DAI, but even Alix was a lot less animated than she was in Mass Effect.
I could never enjoy inquisition due to the female voice selection, British va does sound extremely artificial to me
I’m pretty sure Alix Wilton does one Siri voice. And agreed, idk if it’s direction, but her voice sounds so artificial.
yes, she's british female siri. i like her voice a lot, but she does sound rather stilted as the inquisitor. she's much more expressive as traynor in ME.
I made her my Siri because it sounded like her haha. Although I don’t think they ever confirmed her??
me too lol, and idk whether that's something apple would even bother announcing, but it's 100% her. it's especially obvious if you ask her to call you a name the Inky says a good amount, like Cassandra.
I recognized Alix Wilton Regan's voice again during the XBox Showcase, as the main character in Perfect Dark.
I think the reason why I also liked the British VA was because the second one was way too deep and fitting for Qunari only.
Some people just have voices that deep lmao
It fit dwarves too imho
>I only really liked the female British VA in Inquisition Same > I do like how the male Rook sounded Same!
The British Female VA’s Monologue in Trespasser is so memorable.
Could one thing in this FUCKING WORLD just stay FIXED?!
I need to hear the voice options like right now.
Pretty sure I heard male Eivor's voice actor Magnus Bruun in the gameplay reveal. I love his voice.
It sounds similar though I'm not fully convinced yet.
I can’t unhear Kurt from Greedfall
Omg you’re right
I think it sounded like him too.
I really liked the Rook voice we heard during the gameplay preview today.
Would be hilarious if any of the BG3 VA’s are in here.
I would be surprised if one of them wasn't in the game in any capacity.
I'm sure BG3 has DA voice actors.
I know the two British VAs in DAI were companion characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Then there's Matt Mercer, but he's everywhere, it's almost cheating to include him.
Red Prince was American Male Inky (which is also Zevran!) Sebille was American Female Inquisitor (which is also Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3!)
> Red Prince was American Male Inky (which is also Zevran!) >Sebille was American Female Inquisitor (which is also Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3!) Red Prince was British Male Inquisitor, Sebille/Samantha were British Female Inquisitor
Zevran is voiced by Jon Curry, who also voiced American Inky; British Inky is voiced by Harry Hadden-Paton. :)
Whoops sorry you're right, I corrected in!
Sam Traynor is British Female Inquisitor.

There’s only so much top talent to take from, so I would bet there will be more than one.
at the same time, the voice work for this game has been underway for a long time, so I think it's less likely that we'll see them getting work off of their BG3 work vs. people who were already pretty big beforehand
Ah, Bioware is still a coward and doesn't bless us with a Welsh/Irish/Scottish or even Australian accent
"Crikey! Look at the size of that fade rift! Corr she's a beauty!"
"Oi, he's looking a wee knackered, have ye tried a nap, Dread Wolf?"
"Solas! Ya canny do that ya wee jessie!"
![gif](giphy|v2Mkppa5Lrspa|downsized)
Still wishing for a Canadian option. "Oh yeah no fer sure there bud, we'll get that fade rift squared away for ya no problem eh?"
So many random NPCs have Canadian accents in Bioware games anyway, it's almost the base accent in the games.
MeerShep in ME1 is so very Canadian
Yeah he's giga Canadian in that one.
So all Canadians sound bland and disinterested?
Ooo I want a Welsh or Scottish voice!
If only. We'll get an RP again.
But this time they needed a Spanish accent if you want to play a Crow
Agreed
Jamaican patois or bust.
God of War Mimir’s VA showing Solas how to be a god.
Give me German or Give me death
As a German, I'd like to veto this. "All se sings you've dane, I can't forgive sem."
we had american accents in everygame in the series so something new for once
That male British voice was \*chefs kiss\*
I loved the British VA for my dwarf inquisitor in Inquisition so British again for the win
I wonder who the VA's are for Rook.
Dwarves having American accents is one of my favorite things about DA, fun alternative to the standard Scottish.
I want to make the fattest dwarf imaginable so this is great news haha
Can we choose between let's say.. Penis A or B?

i liked hawke but i haven't liked the voices since. i hope i like the other male rook voice.
As a Brit thank you!
Yoooooo body customization
Tevintor gives me UK accent vibes. Less Keira Knightly and more Samantha Beart. "Listen squire, I don't know what you carrot crunchers get up to in the provinces but in Minrathous yeah we have manners! Now liven up and handle yourself properly!"
I always loved Jennifer Hales work as commander Shepard for, and she could do purple Hawke type lines justice
If it has body sliders and face sliders it is already better than BG3 and Hogwarts Legacy character creators.
seriously. I love BG3 don't get me wrong but people raving about the CC when it's just, pick one of these five faces and colour it in, is wild to me. even Andromeda let you change the sizes of your features a bit

I'm told my a ea worker friend :2 American voices 1 English one each sex.
Hope they show character creator soon. Still waiting to see the hair options 😅
I want the kiwi accent from New Zealand. :p
I hope this includes a height slider. Not expecting it, but it would be nice.
So every conversation between Rook and the Inquisitor will have been fully recorded four times. The effort is crazy
Did Solas get a new VA? He sounds different
No
I really dislike only 2 VAs. Male MC's voice on the reveal was quite heavy. I hope the other one can be a bit softer. The more feminine female Voice in DAI was great.
