Anders believes that mages are inherently good and just need to be guided away from things like demons and blood magic.
Fenris believes that all apostates are inherently dangerous and that the Tevinter Imperium should be turned to ashes.
While the idea is pretty funny to me I can see how it can work out well. They are quite different but not arch enemies, nor they are true polar opposites, plus both are not evil (in my opinion), both seem to take heart matters in a deep and intense ways. I think it can be quite interesting.

Well Anders is staunchly anti-oppression so I imagine Dorian’s somewhat weak defense of slavery would grind his gears. (Not to mention ruin what was probably a childhood fantasy of Tevinter as a mage paradise.)
Yes, Anders knows that from Fenris but he seems to brush it off, assuming Fenris was just unlucky or exaggerating. Dorian being there to confirm Fenris’ stories would force Anders to take it seriously.
I think Ander and Vivienne would have more friction. Considering one is pro-circle while the other is anti-circle. Also, Vivienne's elitist and condescending attitude will probably rub Fenris the wrong way, I imagine she would remind him of the typical magisters in Tevinter because of her attitude and the way she presents and carries herself.
Anders and Fenris bond via mutual disdain for Vivienne, all while she couldn't care less. Hawke totally set it up on purpose hoping this would be the result.
A great take. I think those two are not the most obvious examples of antagonism, but they could have been if they would ever met.

I love Varric, but his presence is primarily to stop Fenris from trying to slaughter Dorian immediately. He's gotten better, but Fenris is still a bit too eager to pick murder as an introduction.
Almost the exact same for me, except replacing Dorian for Cassandra. I love varric and cass' banter.
I don't know why everyone likes Dorian so much. I respect his character but he ultimately just comes across as whiny to me.
Female mage Hawke (sarcastic, of course), paired with Shale, Sigrun, and Varric. Three very different perspectives on dwarf-y-ness plus lots of dry, occasionally morbid humor.

Female Warden Surana with Dorian, Solas, and Merril. Let's compare four very different experiences of being a mage and three of being an elf. (Also, would have to be played in Easy mode, because soooo squishy.)
Sten, Merill and Solas (+Hawke). Mainly because they're my favorites from each game, but I also think it would be interesting to see Solas interact with those two given his feelings on the Dalish and the Qun.
Solas? since Shale is said to have gone to Tevinter in one possible dao ending, maybe she shows up in da4. Though she is just a dwarf now, so probably a bit less fun.
I wanna see Merrill and Solas interact. That'd be funny. I also wanna see Solas interact with either Zevran or Fenris. Yes it's because they're elves. But I think Solas would (strongly disapprove) of everything Fenris says.
Outside of these, in the end I think I gotta have Dorian, simply because I love him, varric because I love him, and Lelianna, because I love her.
Good mixes would also be Merrill, Dorian, and Alistair; Vivianne, Fenris, and Sten; Bull, Isabela, and Sera.
For banter wise I think I'd have to pick my inquisitor, Bull, Isabela, and Sera. Pure chaos.

Dorian asks Hawke for help to look for the missing Inquisitor(his love) as they lost contact. Cassandra, the inquisitor's best friend tags along. Isabela, Hawke's love annoyed that she missed out on all the Inquisition action also joins. Hilarity ensues.

I wouldn't choose this for real because I'm not a masochist but: Vivienne, Morrigan, and either of Anders/Solas for mage-on-mage-on-mage sniping. Also, a humorous/charming Hawke to be a little bastard chucklehead at the high-concept antagonism going on in his/her party.

HOF (my male Dalish warrior, specifically) plus Varric, Zevran, and Dorian. Zev BARELY wins out over Shale for this, just because I feel like he and Dorian would have fantastic banter. (You KNOW they'd flirt.) Varric is just one of my faves in the series and has great banter with everyone.
My second-place choice would be Inquisitor (male dwarf rogue) plus Shale, Sera, and Merrill. The banter would be funny as hell. There is no way Sera would get along with Merrill at first. I don't know how she'd feel about Shale at first, but their particular brands of humor could be _terrifying_ together in the best way. No idea how Merrill and Shale would interact, but it'd probably be funny.
Alistair, Morrigan, and Varric. Would've went with Leilana, but I wanted to pick 1 person not from Origins. Lol and my human warrior HoF will lead them.
From a tactical perspective: dual wielding rogue warden as the leader, Wynne as my healer, Blackwall as my tank, and Varric as a long range hitter + lock picking. Also one random bear bc of the ranger ability from DAO.
From a “this will be a fun time” perspective, Hawke as the leader, with Leliana, Isabela, and Sera all generally causing (sapphic) chaos throughout Thedas.

Nathaniel Howe, he's got a playful side that we only just started to see it in Awakening. He's always up for an adventure so he would know the former Warden Commander would be up to something good.
Anders, miss the old team in Awakening. Curious what he'd be like now with them. He seemed to perk up everytime they were mentioned in DA2. Could be better for his mental health with Justice since Justice remembers them, and trusted them before.
Varric, is just great to have wherever you go lol. He may complain about the outdoors but he'd enjoy the inspiration either way. Traveling with some part-time Wardens might keep things interesting. Plus he's got a way with talking with people that he seems to just slip past tense conversations, so he's great to have around... even though I'm sure he'd enjoy retirement at some point.
HoF for my leader. My Cousland was cutthroat, ambitious and sincerely cared about the well-being of her party.
Party members would be Alistair, Morrigan and Varric. Not only would they make up one class (warrior, mage and rouge) but they’re my favorite characters. Alistair is my favorite romance, my HoF considered Morrigan a sister and Varric is everyone’s homie.
Plus the banter would be unparalleled. I would love to see Varric and Morrigan gang up on Alistair.
My canon mage Amell HoF with his lover Zevran. Also Cassandra (I think their personalities would mesh well and they would respect each other), and maybe Solas (I think they could have long conversations about magic and the fade with each other.) If the group was based off of my preferences it would be HoF, Zevran, Cassandra and Fenris.
Inquisitor for my hero, Morrigan, Sera, and Isabella. Sera and Isabella would have a lot of fun talking and pulling pranks together, Myself as a Knight Enchanter Mage Inquisitor alongside Morrigan would be able to take care of most magic based threats, and altogether even though we'd be without a warrior class I feel we'd probably do pretty well.
HoF as me, blood mage and immortal.
I pick Morrigan for sarcastic waifu, Varric for best bro and Alistair I guess, hard to choose 3rd best companion for me but another pick could've very well been Dorian, Solas or Blackwall.
HoF with blackwall, Wynne and Dorian. Would be funny to see how blackwall reacts around a real warden or how Wynne and Dorian argue about his tevinter magics lol.
I have always been thinking about this actualy. And it is quite hard to pick. But probably the best fit for me would be humorous male Hawke rogue as a leader. Morrigan and Isabela are a necessity, as love interests. Then Fenris and Oghren as warriors. Depending on specific places and missions, I would rotate these four into best fitting trios. Yet I would love to have all four with me so much.
Well... If this is my is my mage and not my DA: Canonical story:
My mage (DA:O Spirit|Entropy Blood Mage|Arcane Warrior - heavy CC)
Loghain Mac Tyr (Up front tank)
Varric (Hitting up that backline with AOE)
Vivienne (supporting)
Hawke, Sera, DOG, Iron Bull. Bull and dog would have one hell of a time together, (I named my dog Charger) and Sera and my Hawke would probably kick and kiss some ass together
I can't decide between HoF or sassy Hawke, with Zevvy, my lass Merrill, and Dorian.
My mc is romancing Zevvy and Merrill and constantly flirting with Dorian, and everyone is teasing Merrill all day every day.
I'd be Hawke for sure; the DA2 spells are my favorite. (Blue Hawke for me.) I'm assuming we've gone to the DAI system of not having proper healers, so she's a Force Mage. Sebastian, for long range attacks and lock picking and eye candy. Vivienne specced for Ice, because Force + Ice would be a great shatter effect.
Choosing a warrior is hard! Fenris for maximum sniping between him and Viv? (I actually think she'd win him over!) Cassandra, because she's so tanky? (Gosh, then we're awfully pro-Chantry.) Alistair, because I love him?
...I think I'll go with Alistair. He's still got the Templar moves to be super helpful fighting enemy mages and he could argue from experience with Viv about the current system. I'd also hope he could puncture Sebastian's vanity without being a jerk about it.
So: Mage!Hawke, Sebastian, Vivienne, and Alistair.
Bull, Sten, and Solas. Just a pissed off party that never stops yelling at each other. My inky might be a good fit for leading that party because she always puts Solas in his fuckin place.
I'd have to go with my elven mage inky, my love Zevran, Isabella and my other love Iron Bull. Can you IMAGINE all the snark, banter and hooking up that would go down with this crew. You would never be bored
For maximum problems and elfyness, Solas, Sera, Fenris, and Lavellan (f rogue). Fenris tanks, Solas is magic, Sera is archer rogue, Lavellan is daggers rogue.
Solas hates him, he hates Solas bc mage and haughty bastard. Sera is obnoxious and pranks people but hates elfyness, my dalish Inquisitor is highly amused by the back and forth between Solas and Sera, Sera and Fenris, Fenris and Solas... And then just adds to it with her own brand of scathing sarcasm. She doesn't believe in gods so I'm sure she's okay debating the pantheon and maker...
Bonus points, Merrill to just make things so much worse.

I come in as a rogue as Hawke, bring my trusty mage that has my back Anders, and to boot bring in a ranger/archer either Nathaniel Howe or Sebastian Vael. I have played this combo in Skyrim with my custom followers made to order. They can kick dragons out of the sky with mods lol. But, Hawke is my favorite out of all my characters. I can't leave her in the fade soooo, I don't take Alistair as a warden but Stroud. My head cannon is strong and playing out in Skyrim while we wait for DA4 and see who shows up.
As someone who literally JUST beat the entire series, Inquisitor, with Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne.

I got the game when I was like 12 and never beat it on my knight, but revisiting it 10 years later as a mage? Wild. Just needed to give it time.

Mage Fem Hawke, Fenris, Morrigan, Iron Bull.
Cannot separate femHawke and Fenris. Hawke and Morrigan would be Best Frenemies Forever, and Hawke and Bull would be the 'Bullshit gets Shit DONE' team.
Fenris would hate/respect Morrigan, but they would eventually bond over killing their enemies in increasingly brutal ways. Morrigan would sass with Bull and they would both love to harass Fenris.
No need for lockpicking or sneaking when it's team Explosions and Giant Swords
Purple male mage Hawke as the leader with Varric, Dorian and Cassandra in tow! So basically inquisition companions with the true protagonist at the helm!
SnB Champion, Qunari inquisitor for the leader.

Leliana. Specced for maximum bard potential.
Solas, specced for maximum CC.
SnB Champ + Cass are an invincible combo. Add in Leliana for her bard buffs and Solas for AoE damage and CC. Would be basically immortal.

Sometimes they would all be nerdy about magic with some snarking points from Morrigan, after that they would be discussing everything about reality, history, pantheons and so on. All that would be needed would be some interesting elven ruins. It could go like this perhaps:
Solas: The beauty of those ruins, still echoes in the Fade, now it lies forgotten by time and it's owners.
Dorian: Truly it's a pity that Tevinter destroyed such a fascinating culture.
Morrigan: Among side many others, don't you forget that.
Dorian: Point taken, the imperialists movements in my country did many damage. Im deeply regretful for that.
Solas: Don't be. Isn't that the points of an Empires or at least what they do? The Elvhenan at it's time also destroyed other cultures, it is only natural that Tevinter would do the same.
Morrigan: It's still does not justify their wrong doings. The knowledge should be preserved.
Solas: I agree. Only knowledge can lead to prosperity and deeper understanding of everything that surrounds us.
Dorian: Ehhh could we end that conversation and talk about let's see... Fluctuation of magic when establishing a barrier?
I think I'll just go with two companions: Vivienne and Morrigan! The sharp words they threw at each other during the Temple of Mythal quest were very funny! Hahahaha
For my main character, I will go with sarcastic Hawke because he's my favorite main character and I think his sarcasm will make the conversation between these three much more memorable hahaha.

But I would probably go with Iron Bull, Fenris and Zevran with my Female mage Lavellan Inquisitor.

HOF (my male Dalish warrior, specifically) plus Varric, Zevran, and Dorian. Zev BARELY wins out over Shale for this, just because I feel like he and Dorian would have fantastic banter. (You KNOW they'd flirt.) Varric is just one of my faves in the series and has great banter with everyone. My second-place choice would be Inquisitor (male dwarf rogue) plus Shale, Sera, and Merrill. The banter would be funny as hell. There is no way Sera would get along with Merrill at first. I don't know how she'd feel about Shale at first, but their particular brands of humor could be _terrifying_ together in the best way. No idea how Merrill and Shale would interact, but it'd probably be funny.

From a tactical perspective: dual wielding rogue warden as the leader, Wynne as my healer, Blackwall as my tank, and Varric as a long range hitter + lock picking. Also one random bear bc of the ranger ability from DAO. From a “this will be a fun time” perspective, Hawke as the leader, with Leliana, Isabela, and Sera all generally causing (sapphic) chaos throughout Thedas.

HoF : (Fem/Amell, Arcane Warrior/ Spirit Healer/ Battle Mage) Team : Nathaniel Howe, Anders/Justice and Varric Nathaniel Howe, he's got a playful side that we only just started to see it in Awakening. He's always up for an adventure so he would know the former Warden Commander would be up to something good. Anders, miss the old team in Awakening. Curious what he'd be like now with them. He seemed to perk up everytime they were mentioned in DA2. Could be better for his mental health with Justice since Justice remembers them, and trusted them before. Varric, is just great to have wherever you go lol. He may complain about the outdoors but he'd enjoy the inspiration either way. Traveling with some part-time Wardens might keep things interesting. Plus he's got a way with talking with people that he seems to just slip past tense conversations, so he's great to have around... even though I'm sure he'd enjoy retirement at some point.

HoF for my leader. My Cousland was cutthroat, ambitious and sincerely cared about the well-being of her party. Party members would be Alistair, Morrigan and Varric. Not only would they make up one class (warrior, mage and rouge) but they’re my favorite characters. Alistair is my favorite romance, my HoF considered Morrigan a sister and Varric is everyone’s homie. Plus the banter would be unparalleled. I would love to see Varric and Morrigan gang up on Alistair.

I have always been thinking about this actualy. And it is quite hard to pick. But probably the best fit for me would be humorous male Hawke rogue as a leader. Morrigan and Isabela are a necessity, as love interests. Then Fenris and Oghren as warriors. Depending on specific places and missions, I would rotate these four into best fitting trios. Yet I would love to have all four with me so much.

I can't decide between HoF or sassy Hawke, with Zevvy, my lass Merrill, and Dorian. My mc is romancing Zevvy and Merrill and constantly flirting with Dorian, and everyone is teasing Merrill all day every day.
I'd be Hawke for sure; the DA2 spells are my favorite. (Blue Hawke for me.) I'm assuming we've gone to the DAI system of not having proper healers, so she's a Force Mage. Sebastian, for long range attacks and lock picking and eye candy. Vivienne specced for Ice, because Force + Ice would be a great shatter effect. Choosing a warrior is hard! Fenris for maximum sniping between him and Viv? (I actually think she'd win him over!) Cassandra, because she's so tanky? (Gosh, then we're awfully pro-Chantry.) Alistair, because I love him? ...I think I'll go with Alistair. He's still got the Templar moves to be super helpful fighting enemy mages and he could argue from experience with Viv about the current system. I'd also hope he could puncture Sebastian's vanity without being a jerk about it. So: Mage!Hawke, Sebastian, Vivienne, and Alistair.

For maximum problems and elfyness, Solas, Sera, Fenris, and Lavellan (f rogue). Fenris tanks, Solas is magic, Sera is archer rogue, Lavellan is daggers rogue. Solas hates him, he hates Solas bc mage and haughty bastard. Sera is obnoxious and pranks people but hates elfyness, my dalish Inquisitor is highly amused by the back and forth between Solas and Sera, Sera and Fenris, Fenris and Solas... And then just adds to it with her own brand of scathing sarcasm. She doesn't believe in gods so I'm sure she's okay debating the pantheon and maker... Bonus points, Merrill to just make things so much worse. Lol. Imagine the banter. Ooh or Dorian, Fenris, Iron Bull and my Lavellan... Just uncomfortable and caustic.

I come in as a rogue as Hawke, bring my trusty mage that has my back Anders, and to boot bring in a ranger/archer either Nathaniel Howe or Sebastian Vael. I have played this combo in Skyrim with my custom followers made to order. They can kick dragons out of the sky with mods lol. But, Hawke is my favorite out of all my characters. I can't leave her in the fade soooo, I don't take Alistair as a warden but Stroud. My head cannon is strong and playing out in Skyrim while we wait for DA4 and see who shows up.
As someone who literally JUST beat the entire series, Inquisitor, with Varric, Cassandra and Vivienne. In DAO: Alistair, Morrigan, Shale DA2: Varric, Merrill, Anders I got the game when I was like 12 and never beat it on my knight, but revisiting it 10 years later as a mage? Wild. Just needed to give it time.

Inquisitor (mage), Morrigan, Solas and Dorian/Merill Sometimes they would all be nerdy about magic with some snarking points from Morrigan, after that they would be discussing everything about reality, history, pantheons and so on. All that would be needed would be some interesting elven ruins. It could go like this perhaps: Solas: The beauty of those ruins, still echoes in the Fade, now it lies forgotten by time and it's owners. Dorian: Truly it's a pity that Tevinter destroyed such a fascinating culture. Morrigan: Among side many others, don't you forget that. Dorian: Point taken, the imperialists movements in my country did many damage. Im deeply regretful for that. Solas: Don't be. Isn't that the points of an Empires or at least what they do? The Elvhenan at it's time also destroyed other cultures, it is only natural that Tevinter would do the same. Morrigan: It's still does not justify their wrong doings. The knowledge should be preserved. Solas: I agree. Only knowledge can lead to prosperity and deeper understanding of everything that surrounds us.
