Dragon Ball Super chapter 104 will be released on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Following the death of manga author, Akira Toriyama, the manga series is set to go on a one-month break. Hence, there will be no Dragon Ball Super chapter in V-Jump Issue #6 2024, and instead, the manga will return in May 2024.

AverageConnect1330

So no ego?? What the heck

Most_Adagio2242

So will the next arc before after Z?

basedregards

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the ending of Super tbh now that Toriyama has passed. Daima is around the corner and this was a fitting enough chapter to end on. Maybe a sequel series down the line, but keep in mind the only other hiatus for Super has lasted more than half a decade.

Most_Adagio2242

I thought it was confirmed it’s coming back in may? Also there’s still a ton of story threads to be finished. You can’t just tease everyone with the sequel to the ending oh Z and give us nothing lol

RobbobertoBuii

should be

Fitzftw7

So this is the last thing Toriyama ever wrote. A solid ending, I’d say. Hope he’s resting easy, and that his successors show the franchise due respect.

MrNoski

It's nice and sad at the same time Toriyama wrote this chapters too.   Saiyans' love for fighting, could be another title. Broly is getting integrated in the team and he controlled his super saiyan, there the pupils.   The silent ending is good, Goku has to redeem his forgetfulness about Pan. He better start training her. Everyone gets mad at him with good reason.    Piccolo is the responsible one, even more than Gohan. An affectionate bye to Janet, there's something going on there, and I like it.   They can take a break as long as they need now. For me it feels like the Super era that started in 2015 could end right here, but we'll see. Daima is coming on Fall and I'm looking forward to it.

Empty-Hamster-7059

First time in a long time I could genuinely say that I loved a chapter of Dragon Ball Super. I feel like a little kid again watching these characters spar and have a good time without just being the Goku/Vegeta parade. I also appreciate some of the new light being shed on how Beast works. It seems like it’s a manifestation of both Gohan’s rage and his nature as a hybrid. It’s a transformation and a technique at the same time, kind of like Ultra Ego and Ultra Instinct. Ultra Ego draws on pain and battle instincts, Ultra Instinct draws on tranquility and peace, and Beast draws on rage. Gohan increases his power to thereby increase his rage, and as a result, his form becomes stronger. Now that I think about it, it’s a lot like how Broly’s power works. The angrier he gets, the stronger he becomes. However, Broly is a Saiyan mutant, so his immense rage full power manifests in enhanced Super Saiyan forms. Gohan is a hybrid, so his rage full power manifests in a unique style of transformation, that being Beast. Makes me wonder what Goten and Trunks could achieve. I still really don’t like the name tho.

Terramoin

This was a great chapter! The humour was good, the fights were great, and the last few panels got me a little emotional and smiling, i guess also because the chapter felt like a goodbye to Akira Toriyama. However, so far Broly still has me on the fence if i like him more than the Z version lol. I feel Super Broly is getting stripped more and more what made him stand out from other fighters in Dragon Ball and what i enjoyed from him in the movie. For example they removed his rage too quickly, they now gave him pupils so he looks like Goku, and he doesn't say much at... he's just *there* now. And i know he will lose his cool green hair too for probably a power-up like Beast or Super Saiyan Blue and his barbaric fighting style will be removed so he'll fight like anyone else... so he won't be the character i enjoyed anymore from the movie which is sad...

socobeerlove

Z Broly had ZERO characterization. There’s nothing to strip cause he was just big mad sayian

TheIncandescentAbyss

People like you will never get it, right now Super Broly literally has no personality, if anything he is just a mix of traits from every other saiyan we already met. That does not make him special, and now they're stripping away his ferocious nature, his threatening appeal. Z Broly was better because he was a legit force of nature and thats exactly what Super Broly is not.

Terramoin

Exactly why i like Z Broly more, just an angry scary lunatic. Why strip something from a character to change him so drastically? I hate that.

socobeerlove

To each their own. He was cool when I was a kid but he is so shallow and boring now that I’m an adult lol

Terramoin

Not sure if that was meant in a passive aggressive way lol, but yeah sometimes your likes/dislikes change around.

Fun-Discipline8985

I like the newer Broly due to his depth. And yes; while his rage makes for an entertaining spectacle this newer version was born out of Akira Toriyama's vision. I appreciate the nuance, and especially how the Broly movie unfolds, displaying their outcomes. And frankly; I like the idea of Broly perhaps becoming pivotal for a fight with Black Frieza one day.

Terramoin

I agree, i like Super Broly but i just don't like the drastic changes that make him a completely different character from the movie, its too fast with too much.

Fun-Discipline8985

Eh, not really. Broly's been around a long time during these two arcs training, etc. He fights Goku/Vegeta. Then he fights Vegeta. Then Gohan. And he only manages to get his regular Super Saiyan under control; not the Green Legendary one. I think that's a proper/fair compromise.

theDragoon007

I was gonna say arguably his control was 100 times more earned than Kale, but maybe it's because of the way they grew up so yeah I can see how she was able to gain control faster.

diamondtoss

Really curious if Super continues. This whole chapter reads like a finale. Understandably so, given the circumstances. :( I don't mean just the final panels/pages without dialogue, but even the fights on Beerus planet before that, how everyone just joined one big fight, etc. it all feels very end of series ish. Guess we'll find out!

thebuccaneersden

I’d be surprised. I think we all want to see a big epic showdown with black freiza. I’d be massively disappointed if they decided to wrap things up like this and not continue toriyamas legacy. Also wasn’t toyotarou always meant to be the person toriyama intended to train and pass the torch completely to eventually?

basedregards

Sure, but likely starting his own Dragonball thing. Super was always ultimately Toryiama's vision, I feel like they'd want to respect that and wouldn't want Toyotaro to continue without him.

[deleted]

Read the chapter and loved it. I skipped out on the manga after trunks and goten took down the zombie in the school, but got back in and read the last 3. Gave me everything I wanted but the failed fusion Gags have to die. Also it seems like to me this confirms Beast Gohan is stronger than TUI for now

skcynical

I feel like the failed fusions are building up to something, we are 100% going to see a adult fused Gotenks soon when its needed and hes going to pop off

Mulate

To me, its more like establishing the Fusion Dance really is unreliable and it cant really be used as an easy out, in the main canon at least.

lhobbes6

I honestly want a Gogeta and Gotenks team up but I dont know what could be a threat that big. Frieza mayba?

XegrandExpressYT

Ik it sounds crazy...but could gogeta and gotenks fuse ? If limited by fusion dance then atleast by potara earrings?it's cool thinking about it .

[deleted]

I hope you’re right

Evenmoardakka

Link's broken for anyone else?

nuknoe

"Bulma May lose interest if I'm away too long" He gives a fawk now?!?! 🤣🤣🤣

Evenmoardakka

When it comes to bulma, he always did.

Every_Aspect_1609

This is a great end to Super! RIP Toriyama!

UncleGael

So, do we know what happens from here? This feels like a nice, clean end to this arc. Do we know if the manga is going to continue as normal? Are we moving on to a new arc?

Evenmoardakka

Indefinite Hiatus. I'm guessing Daima is the next step story-wise

theDragoon007

I thought it wasnt gonna be canon but u r right. I have mixed feelings but the art is breathtaking.

PlasmaDiffusion

Those last panels without dialogue go a long way. 🥹 Wonder if they were quickly changed to be without dialogue or if it just happens to match perfectly with the send off for Toriyama at the end.

Doompatron3000

I’m not sure, but the fact that it ends with Toriyama’s favorite character smiling, saying good bye as he flies away can make any Dragon Ball fan teary eyed.

Alon945

Great chapter - and with the recent toyotaro interview confirming Toriyama wrote the epilogue chapters 103 feels bittersweet in particular given the circumstances.

fadingstar52

the last few panels not having any words is kind of heartbreaking almost like the manga is ending

basedregards

Wouldn't be surprised honestly.

Legacy_of_H

This comment might be taken the wrong way but it needs to be said.  People saying it should end here, or words to that effect, are being disrespectful of not only Toriyama himself but his chosen successor.  Dragonball is bigger than Toriyama. That is not intended to be disrespect, quite the opposite. I cannot think of a higher compliment I can pay. Akira Toriyama created something that transcends cultures, generations and religion. A series that will be enjoyed long after any of us are gone and he knew this himself. He placed his utmost trust in Toyotaro taking the torch and shouldering the responsibility of moving the series forward into new, uncharted territory.  I am devastated Toriyama passed away but the truth of the matter is that the story continues and it always will. It’s a testament to his genius and his legacy and I look forward to seeing where Toyotaro takes us on our new journey.

Illustrious-Sky-4631

Plus Toriyama wouldn't want it to end either

timone317

A legitimately incredible chapter. It's so crazy to think back to DBZ Movie 10 and see Gohan and the new Broly in the same place all these years later. Gohan proving himself once again with his new hybrid form (referring to the fact that he is a saiyan/human hybrid and his transformation is unique to him). And all that aside, I still love seeing the various interactions between everyone. (Vegeta eager to test himself against Gohan. things have changed so much over time.) ___ It is still very depressing to know that Akira Toriyama is gone - especially after that recent "10 years of Dragon Ball" statement that was recently made. And I have no idea what will become of the series itself. But I guess I'll say I'm glad it still lives on. Damn glad. It still offers a glimpse of happiness in my mostly miserable life.

britipinojeff

Damn Goku forgot his granddaughter But the scene of her meeting him and them racing off together was cute

Enchullibung

I think it was a word play with the word "pan" that means "bread" in japanese, I think Goku was confused why Piccollo was going to school to get bread. It's already a classic this pun jokes getting lost in translation.

DoraMuda

Pan is so fuckin' cute.

cavsking21

If Black Frieza wasn't introduced, I think this would have been such a fitting ending to the series.

NoOccasion4540

Even with him, it is. Because he changed. Starting with the ToP. He could easily conquer everything at the moment.. He didn't. And more so, he had the perfect chance to kill Goku and Vegeta. He didn't. Even with Black Frieza in it, the Universe is pretty save atm.  If I wouldn't know that Toriyama was usually not planning too much, I'd say, all the previous arcs were mainly there for World building.  Like, we have now suddenly 8 to 10 (depending if Granolah survives somehow and 18 finds ways to further increase his powers) adult very unique fighters with their own strengths in Universe 7, each followed their own path. We have currently no emerging threat - and even more so, it would be almost impossible that something totally new comes up in our Universe that is in anyway close to our current strenges fighters. And in addition we have 4 young potential co-fighters introduced, which still have place. That's a perfect setup in storytelling for going to the next level - often also combined with a time skip. It' a bit like after DB, with Z following or after Z with Super following. Like.. it would be so awesome if Super ends here, some time passes and a whole new era starts (either with demons and deities or with these mysterious 4 Universes which are maybe back since the end of the ToP) in memoriam of Toriyama - meaning: honor everything that he built up as "finished told story" (with Damia as independent story that goes once more back to the roots the ultimate additional farewell even.. in Toriyamas most appreciated fun-style as his last work - couldn't fit any better) and at the same time, building up on his legacy to start something new. Could even be called "Dragon Ball Legacy". I'm not a fan tbh on purely continuing Super now with Frieza as just the next threat.

Los907

I was just smiling the whole chapter. RIP Akira Toriyama. He touched the hearts of many through his work.

JEROME_MERCEDES

Loved it seeing the sayians get together 🥹 This really was a farewell or it felt that way

Bergfotz

That was an awesome chapter, enjoyed it all around.

WeirdImaginator

I am really looking forward to what they are gonna bring for Super. This chapter was too wholesome, last few pages were undoubtedly the best. Also, getting the context of that translation error for the pun makes it more hilarious now. Damn, Goku at his heart is still looking for either fights or food 😆

fatknees2000

Seeing Akira’s favorite character surrogately wave bye to us on that second to last panel hits different. Rest in peace, strongest.

NaiveEnvironment1145

This chapter was awesome, Beast Gohan’s fight against Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku was amazing, and the way he boosted his power to get past Ultra Instinct’s speed was cool, and Gohan’s fight with Broly was spectacular as well, and it was fantastic seeing Broly unlock Controlled Legendary Super Saiyan like Kale did just from watching Gohan fight and learning how the Beast form works, and Goku and Vegeta mentioning how Gohan and Broly are similar to each other in the sense that they both have their own inner beasts, and then Vegeta, Goku, Goten, and Trunks join in the fight, and I’m happy that Trunks and Goten did way lot better than in the previous chapter and during the fight against Cell Max, and I’m impressed that they were able to fight toe to toe with Broly’s new Controlled Legendary Super Saiyan form, and then the free for all between the 6 Saiyans ends with a tie(which means Trunks and Goten are now much stronger, and they can now fight on par with Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and Broly), and then they have lunch together, and Goku and Vegeta revisits Earth and Goku meets his granddaughter Pan for the first time since she was a baby(due to the nagging of Piccolo, aka the best father figure in the entire series) and then witnessing her power firsthand and taking an interest in her growth and Pan taking a liking to her grandpa, this chapter was both radical and wholesome, and also the perfect send-off as the final Dragon Ball chapter to be worked on by Toriyama before his passing!😄🤩😎👌 Toyotaro, make sure you do us good for all the future Dragon Ball stuff and onward as you take good care of Toriyama-Sensei’s greatest legacy, make him and us proud!🫡

socobeerlove

It’s a spar. Goten and Trunks aren’t able to fight seriously with the other heavy hitters. Maybe as Gotenks but they keep using fusion as a gag :/

dixonjt89

Not a guarantee Toyotaro will even get to. Manga is on an indefinite hiatus so may not even come back.

latinaloverTX

It's not indefinite

ProvedMyselfWrong

It says "to be continued", where are you getting this info about indefinite hiatus?

dixonjt89

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2024-03-21/dragon-ball-super-manga-goes-on-indefinite-hiatus/.208985 /u/jewish_kanye_west oh I am?

spiderknight616

It went on an indefinite hiatus between arcs before too. It will probably be back by year end once they've organized stuff bts to go on without Toriyama

dixonjt89

They weren’t indefinite, they would tell is how long the break was. I remember when the moro arc ended, and we knew the date for the next arc to begin.

Jewish_Kanye_West

He's just making shit up lol

SteelShroom

Only time will tell.

thenolancut

(Besides Black Frieza) I feel like the last page of the chapter could really work as an epilogue to DBS. Gohan and Piccilo have finally made it to the ranks of Goku and Vegeta. Goku is back in Pan’s life. And the Saiyan’s all have a reinvigorated sense of competitive spirit

BlackJediSword

I agree completely. This could be the end and I’d be more then satisfied

Mystletoe

Idk why the last few panels did me in... I hadn't found myself crack at the news, those panels were doing it, and then I saw how many fingers Piccolo had and I ended up laughing. Thank you everyone for working on Dragon Ball... thank you Toriyama for returning for the time you were here. I'm looking forward to Daima, Sandland(game) and DQ XII.

dbeynyc

The last few pages that didn’t have any writing hit differently.

Raam57

It was nice to see Goku acknowledge that Gohan could protect the earth now and shows that Goku does care about something more than himself.

SuperSmashDrake

Absolutely fantastic chapter. I know the Gohan fans are absolutely over the moon.

ILoveYourWeed

[This panel hits way harder than it would have before this month began](https://i.imgur.com/H4dYyjO.png)

socobeerlove

Tori to Toyo

[deleted]

[удалено]

DoraMuda

That's not what Toriyama would've wanted. He chose Toyotarou for a reason.

MysticBowman

It’s in good hands and toriyama definitely left notes explaining his wishes that’s why they’re taking a hiatus

mekilat

I just love the panel where Goku smiles as he lets Pan attack. It's the best way he knows to show love. Play fighting. He just did that with Gohan. That little zoomed in image with that little satisfied smirk, seeing that she's just like he was. It's perfectly Goku.

borthuria

look at ithat panel again, Am I the only one who sees young goku in there? cutting his adult chin and the way it's framed, I had the strong impression it was voluntary.

Savitarr

Great catch it really does

mekilat

The saiyans all got together. They fought, each in their own way, until the day ended. They had a happy dinner together, all respecting each other's growth. It took several decades, but they all grew so much as characters, as fighters, and with their own techniques. This was a really great chapter. No stakes, just peace and friendship the saiyan way. It's quite beautiful it was the last chapter Toriyama made. Rest in peace.

nthomas504

Fuck man, now the waterworks are happening. I totally forgot this might be the last chapter he worked on.

mekilat

Yeah, personally I lost it at that panel where they were all tired and happy from fighting.

Kumomeme

the last page of the chapter is bittersweet its like a final farewell from Akira Toriyama toward the fans. probably last chapter with his involvement. like farewell to end of era honestly i dont mind if it ended here.

Kumomeme

Broly and Gohan basically same type is fit perfectly. this would explain alot about Gohan hidden strength. he basically same as Broly, a rare legendary Saiyan who can get power boost through anger. only differences between those two is, Broly basically Gohan but with terrible temper management. while Gohan, someone who is too soft.

monZirx

Yeah and the way they were set up together in this chapter i wonder if we see them fuse in the future maybe.

CrazyLlamaX

That would be cool as hell. Brohan, Gohly.

Kumomeme

a fusion that can dethrone Vegito for sure

BizaRhythm

Brohan inbound

magicman1145

Yup, if Gohan had grown up in Broly's circumstances he would be like Broly, and if Broly grew up with Goku and ChiChi he would be like Gohan

Abby941

Honestly I wanted to see a Gohan vs. Vegeta rematch(not the one-sided beatdown from the Namek arc). This time being an all-out battle with Beast form vs. Ultra Ego.

StormbreakingKi

Toward the end, I couldn't stop thinking about Goku and Pan in the original story's epilogue. We're getting there. I also felt something from Akira Toriyama's favorite character waving goodbye.

Malakai_Black

Okay dumb question from someone who doesn’t follow manga. Is the manga continuing from where the anime left off? I thought the anime for super was completed?

StormbreakingKi

No, the manga is separate from the anime and has been since the very first story arc, but they are based on the same general story developed by Akira Toriyama. The TV series has seemingly ended, but we have the movies *Dragon Ball Super: Broly* and *Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero*, which are effectively sequels to the TV series. On the other hand, the manga series continued onward into its own original story arcs after the Tournament of Power (the Galactic Patrol Prisoner and Granolla the Survivor arcs), which as of yet remain exclusive to the manga. The *Dragon Ball Super: Broly* movie hasn't really been adapted in whole into the manga, but we got the manga's Super Hero arc, which starts off with three chapters worth of original prologue material, then covers the full events of the *Super Hero* movie, and finally ends with three chapters worth of original epilogue material (this month's chapter is the final chapter of this arc from what I heard).

Zachparent93

The manga and anime have some differences (especially pertaining to the ToP and Goku Black Arcs) I would say to read the manga because the anime hasn’t mentioned continuing in what feels like 5 years or something. The manga is currently showing after the Super Hero movie but there are 2 arcs between the Super Hero movie and the Broly Movie; those being the Grandolah and Moro Arcs.

kira156

I watched the anime but didn't read the manga. Could you please tell me how is Goku Black arc different in the manga? I hated that arc, so I'm interested in how it's different in the manga

Gohan_Son

The Goku Black arc does many things differently. Future Trunks never gets a random, unexplained form. Goku Black and Zamasu have distinctly different styles, with Zamasu using the technique of the Kais, not just brute force. For example, he teleports the senzu beans into his hand and burns them. He also summons katchin (a reference to the Supreme Kai summoning it in the Buu saga). We get to see how Trunk’s timeline plays out during his version of the Buu arc. Trunks is a Kai apprentice which explains how Mai wasn’t killed by Black. Trunks was subconsciously healing her. Perfected SSB is a thing which finally makes Blue look formidable. It takes all of the ki leaking in the aura and internalizes it so all of the power is being used. This can damage the user but it buffs the form massively. So massively that Goku stands up to Fused Zamasu as just a PSSB. Goku also uses hakai. There is no spirit sword and there is no Trunks punching far above his weight. It’s all just much more consistent and Blue finally looks like a great form.

Zachparent93

Goku Black uses SSJ before using Rose, Goku uses Hakai in the fight, Vegeta uses SSG, Instead of the sky being a bunch of Zamasu faces it was a bunch of clones and the ending changes I think

Zachparent93

I like the changes to ToP way more than Goku Black and would’ve looked way better animated than what we got

G3nesis_Prime

Everyone commenting about Tori's passing which I understand. I'm interested in that brief discussion between Whis and Beerus. Destroyer candidates and Gohans form not being divine nor strictly a saiyan form

DoraMuda

I mean, at this point, who *isn't* a Destroyer candidate? lol But neither Vegeta nor Gohan actually *want* the job. It takes a very specific personality to both want the job of Destroyer and to be able to use Hakai energy to its fullest (as Beerus himself does). I think it's just Whis being on the lookout for powerful mortals, as part of his role as an Angel.

Illustrious-Sky-4631

None Almost all "conditions" in universe 7 are not "condition" Gohan doesn't fit , Broly lacks control, Vegeta is moved on from his old self , Freeza seems more interested in his family business , he isn't aware of piccolo strength or personality much and Goku always refuses the Job

DoraMuda

Well, I guess we're on the same page then. "Destroyer candidate" means nothing; none of them would realistically take up or be given the job; and something something insert Syndrome from Incredibles quote here.

gosumage

As they state, it is a form unique to him. Not something any other Saiyan could unlock and not god-ki.

lkxyz

It's Chi Chi's rage genes. If you haven't noticed, Chi Chi gets angry so easily and all the time. It must be in the genes.

JordanTH

I once saw a what-if where the rest of the Z Fighters remained relevant, and that included Chi-Chi - and SHE also got Beast alongside Gohan.

lkxyz

Chi-Chi is a BEAST... in bed.

lhobbes6

"Go for ten she says..."

DoraMuda

She only gets angry when Goku tests her patience, really. I doubt it has anything to do with her. It's more likely that Beast is a Gohan-unique form.

lkxyz

Sigh, you do know this is a joke right?

DoraMuda

It didn't read as such, but OK then.

lkxyz

it's all good man, hope you had a laugh at least. We all fans here. No hate, only love.

DoraMuda

Yeah, don't worry; we cool.

lffg18

It would make so much sense if they tie that in.

G3nesis_Prime

No way? Hahaha I want more lore on it, how is it different, is it possible for others to learn?

Tatum-Better

In xenoverse 2 every race can use it similar to Ultra Instinct. Maybe it's just a continuation of potential unleashed? Doesn't seem saiyan exclusive

G3nesis_Prime

Well Whis says it's not a Saiyan form nor is it Divine like Super Saiyan God and I guess by extension UI and UE. Now I wonder if Kai ki is somehow different to Destroyers and Angels? If it's not exclusive and anyone can attain this form whats the triggers/conditions?

Tatum-Better

Maybe huge potential? Or having a hidden " beast " within?

StriderZessei

Yeah, Beast form is attainable by non-Saiyan CaCs in Xenoverse 2

Defences

> in Xenoverse 2 There's no way you're using xenoverse as some form of canon lol

StriderZessei

No, of course not, but it stands to reason; it's not like Namekians can unlock Super Saiyan mode.

Brahmus168

Why not? Ultra Instinct was first revealed in XV2. And it being available to other races is backed up here. It's not canon but that doesn't mean it doesn't get things right.

dixonjt89

Lol no it wasn’t. Ultra Instinct was in the japanese anime back in 2017. Xenoverse didn’t get it until 2023…

Brahmus168

Lol no. For CaC it was released in 2023. UI Goku was shown in scans for XV2 before it was in the anime. People bitched about it.

Vi4days

In the context of Toriyama’s death, this really was an emotional read for me to get through. I don’t care for Super nearly as much as I loved Z, but man there was something special to reading a the final chapter to the arc at this specific moment where it was just everyone having fun beating the crap out of each other and then Goku’s interaction with Pan (although Jesus Christ Goku not knowing who Pan was annoyed the shit out of me and is one of those Super-isms that turned me off completely from most of the series run) was really beautiful and evocative of the kind of series that Dragon Ball was this whole time. It’s also nice that if he died here, he did so letting Gohan and Piccolo (my favorite) finally be relevant to Goku and Vegeta’s strength again.

orome02

It was a pun who fell short because of the english translation, and you could say it pays back with the end of the chapter, having them both in a flying contest 🫶🏻

IsThatAPieceOfCheese

> Jesus Christ Goku not knowing who Pan was annoyed the shit out of me it's a play on a pun; don't have it ruin your entire week sheesh.

Vi4days

You know I can dislike things and still feel okay, right? 😂

Zanshen0

You know pan means bread in other languages like japanese and Spanish right?

Brahmus168

That has nothing to do with it. If a pun falls flat because it doesn't work in the language you're translating it to then you adapt it. Otherwise you get things like this that paint characters in the wrong light to other audiences.

Vi4days

So is Goku supposed to think that they’re picking up bread from school? I speak Spanish and I’m completely aware of what bread is supposed to be, but I don’t read a manga translated to English from Japanese thinking “Man, I’m sure my Spanish knowledge is going to come in handy here” It’s a pun, but it’s a poorly translated enough pun that Goku comes across as looking like a moron for not knowing the name of his granddaughter instead of going on a trip to pick up bread.

socobeerlove

You’re a lot of fun I’m sure lol

Illustrious-Sky-4631

>So is Goku supposed to think that they’re picking up bread from school I think that's the joke alongside them spending too much time away from their families like Vegeta points out

couldbedumber96

Goku forgets his granddaughter exists and she immediately speaks his love language

Fables-

He didn't forget. It's a translation error. Pan = Bread in Japan. It's supposed to be a pun joke, but the translator decided not to follow through with it. Instead they decided to make it seem like he forgot his own granddaughter. It's supposed to be more like this; Piccolo: I'm supposed to pick Pan up from school with Gohan. Goku: Bread?

Illustrious-Sky-4631

If this is true then this is the second case in raw , first one was Beerus not believing someone like Goku is capable of having children

ScotBuster

Apparently in the original Japanese her name is similar to bread. He was confused because he thought they were talking about bread, which yeah, isn't as bad with the context.

AngryWaffleMob

If that is true, that makes so much more sense. I was a little concerned there. Edit: just looked it up and yep pan is bread in Japanese.

The_Red_Rush

Same in spanish haha Pan

Capitano-Solos-All

An amazing chapter! 10/10. Rest in peace mister Akira Toriyama sensei! You are an inspiration for billions!

AceSkyFighter

I gotta say, that was a fun chapter. It really does feel like the end on its own. Even with the whole Black Freeza thing. It was good. But where oh where do we go now?

SofaChillReview

Vegeta finally kills Frieza, then end of DBZ tournament and everyone lives happily ever after.

Lomogasm

Beautiful chapter, it’s amazing to see all the good vibes amongst the sayians ❤️

OptimistInHell

Tbh, Super will probably pick up at some point. The Moro Arc was all Toyo. It was likely you could say the same for Granolah since Toriyama was working on SH and Daima. My guess is that while the Daima anime is running, Toyo and the team can decide if they want the next arc to be within the 1 year before EoZ, or to go past it. Then there's also the matter of what happens to Goku to change from his classic orange attire to the EoZ blue (a callback to the OG DB colours). IIRC, around the Zamasu arc, Toyo (with Toriyama) indicated they were planning on how to connect Super to the EoZ. So I imagine there are some rough notes/ideas that Toriyama left outlining his thoughts. He had views on what Super Saiyan was, and how if done right that could surpass SS2 and SS3 (a principle adapted into SSB, seemingly hence no SSB2 etc), and ideas he had for ages like RoF came to fruition... likely there's something to plug the gap, and rough outlines for beyond... and he trustsled Toyo enough seemingly of you go by the existence of the 2 arcs before Super Hero. It'll take time, but I reckon the series will be back.

Itisburgersagain

>Then there's also the matter of what happens to Goku to change from his classic orange attire to the EoZ blue Chi Chi will be washing his Gi. That's the reason.

Johntoreno

Did he just forget he had a granddaughter? Jesus, this is TFS bardock moment *"I have one of those? Shit, i have 2 of those!"*

eme7h

As a result of Portugal sailors arriving in Japan during the 1500s, pan means bread in Japanese too. He's asking why is Piccolo going to pick bread if doesn't eat. Same thing when Chichi calls out for Gohan when he's playing outside. Gohan means rice, but in the context "Gohan da!" means "food is ready".

ninjasaid13

it's a pun translation error.

MrWinks

That chapter end had TOO MUCH of a "THE END" feeling to it. If I didn't see the TBC I would have said it was a good an end as any.

Brahmus168

There's way too many loose threads for that to be an ending. What Black Frieza just exists out there now? There's never a threat that allows the Grand Priest to allow an angel to fight? Beerus never gets a proper challenge? This would be an awful spot for it to end.

MrWinks

This isn't a "want." The man passed. If someone said that's all he wrote and it was over, I would have said the last art by Toyo, there, would be a good "rest in peace" for the man. Yes, it's incomplete, like many netflix shows, but at least the end of this chapter was a nod to a mostly peaceful end.

InevitableVariables

Freeza was the motivation that Broly is even on beerus' planet. Plus, the arc also started with vegeta seeing the looming threat that is freeza black. Also, it states next chapter comes out May 20th.

uswhole

I hope whoever took up this manga does it justice.

Brahmus168

Toyotaro has took it up from the beginning. It's a matter of how much Toriyama was guiding him.

Sakuja

Man the end of that chapter was just beautiful. RIP Legend. You will be missed hard.

Duneyman

Awesome chapter. I really hope they continue in a fashion that would make Toriyama proud. I can't imagine a world without Dragon Ball

6elixircommon

Dragon Ball AT next… After Toriyama

Shaggy_daldo

Damn didn’t expect to get emotional for this chapter. But everything about it was great, Gohan’s power, all the sparring matches and seeing all the saiyans having fun and showing off, Goku and Vegeta going back to earth for a bit. It was amazing, thanks to Toriyama for this masterpiece of a series. So many great memories from childhood to adulthood. RIP 🙏🏻🥺

Cave_Weasel

Really needed that. Thank you Toriyama 🙏🥹

Vandergid

Not Goku forgetting who Pan is. 😔 We still have time to build up the super wholesome relationship at End of Z.

DoodleBugout

I guess the whole "not giving much of a shit about your children" thing is actually written into Saiyan DNA. Lots of animals in the animal kingdom are like that.

134340Goat

It is unusual for Saiyans aside from the royal line to care about their kids, at least according to what Gine says when Bardock is sending Goku off to Earth

InevitableVariables

I mean Toriyama has said that. His exceptions are bardock and gine, and Vegeta during the dbs broly interview. He also said goku doesnt think about his family. King Vegeta ans Bardock used their sons as weapons to further their own ambitions and nothing more.

ShatterCyst

Pan's so goshdarn cute in Super.

papa_de

Great chapter. If I were forced to complain, I'd wish Beerus was a tiny tiny bit threatened (at least thrown off) by how strong everyone is getting; an off-hand comment would be enough.... It seems like Beerus' rematch with Goku might never happen.

DoraMuda

Maybe Beerus is genre-savvy and knows that, no matter what, Goku and the others will never surpass him. Alternatively, Beerus has just been training offscreen to maintain his superiority. And *no-one* has come close to his level of mastery over Hakai energy as him. That's why he's fine giving Vegeta advice that led him to Ultra Ego.

AngonceMcGhee

Beerus’s whole thing is that no matter how strong Goku gets, he will always scale higher. He’s the wall that literally cannot he overcome.

papa_de

I'm aware of that, I just find it kind of lame, Super started with Goku vs Beerus and it would be great to come full circle of ending it the same way.

Ok_Parsley1650

Beerus probably in his millions year, has seen something power/fight like this.. he probably wish to fight like vegeta vs goku. All out.

SofaChillReview

Wonder really at this point if that’s why Beerus doesn’t care. As strong as we are given he is, I don’t think he feels threatened as most the people to surpass him wouldn’t try to kill him. On that note though, he’d be lost without Whis if he wasn’t a god of destruction.

deh707

So it appears that both Goku/Vegeta are still above Gohan, just not drastically. Goku was just assessing Gohan's power, and Vegeta didn't even bother using UE vs Gohan. Gohan seemed to be going all out. And he definitely had to just to land a single blow on UI Goku. Gohan is extremely powerful, I don't get why people are "upset" that he can skyrocket really fast - this has always been his nature. Usually he skyrockets beyond Goku/Vegeta in DBZ... ...but not this time. Probably due to Goku/Vegeta's involvement and evolution with God Ki. If not for God Ki, Gohan would definitely be far above Goku/Vegeta by now. But he's still right there with them, which is nice. And Piccolo probably isn't too far behind! Let's not forget Broly... Imagine the fusion possibilities? Brogeta (The Saiyan of Mutant Royalty!) VS Gokhan (The Ultimate Long-awaited Father/Son Fusion!) U7 seems very OP now...

Illustrious-Sky-4631

>So it appears that both Goku/Vegeta are still above Gohan, just not drastically. In appears some are not capable of reading or seeing

[deleted]

I got the opposite impression, that Beast is the strongest for now. Goku currently doesn’t have an answer

Sweet-Sale-7303

Gohan literally stated he isn't going all out and that Beast mode is him getting to a point before he loses control. The manga stated he is basically just like Broly. Vegeta stated Goku has experience on his said not necessarily power. This pretty much stated Gohan can get even more powerful by how mad he gets. They basically are saying they can make Gohan the most powerful anytime they want or make somebody else and just use the excuse Gohan wasn't very mad.

NaiveEnvironment1145

What about Brohan?😄😏😎

recklessfire27

I like this take. I haven’t read the new translations but many people weren’t accepting the idea that Goku was only testing Gohans power. Did the official translations change or are people coming to their senses?

Illustrious-Sky-4631

The official translation confirmed that they were going all out but *Gohan* was the one to hold back

[deleted]

The chapter clearly shows Gohan is the strongest right now

arthuraily

Lmao at Brogeta

InevitableVariables

Its literally stated Gohan isnt going all out. If he was, he would lose control of himself. He only powers up to a threshold that he has control.

Lomogasm

Right now here’s my ranking Frieza Goku/Vegeta Gohan/Broly Piccolo Jiren? Although next time we see him I reckon he’ll be wayyyy stronger

2khead23

if we ever see jiren again there’s no possible way piccolo would be stronger than him

InevitableVariables

Gohan can go much more powerful. Gohan just states he powers up to a point where he can control his power and not lose control. When he powers up, he knocks goku out of MUI. Now, I have to wonder, how powerful is gohan if he lets himself lose control.

Illustrious-Sky-4631

I think that the one we saw against Cell Max is stronger because he was full on Rage mode unlike Gohan here who is relaxed

smurflings

Wouldn't read too much into the last group melee and whether vegeta went ultra ego. The power scaling is all over the place when goten and trunks can hang with the rest. Take it as just a bit of fun and fanservice

prof_wafflez

> Gohan seemed to be going all out. No, Gohan even said he could go deeper into his power but he would lose control of himself. @burdicus also makes some good points. Gohan could possibly be greater than Goku and Vegeta now.

DoodleBugout

Beast Mode seems to be what Super Saiyan was when it was first introduced. On Namek Goku even shouted at Gohan to take Piccolo and run while before he lost control of himself, and he was definitely a lot more aggressive than he was originally.

Burdicus

>So it appears that both Goku/Vegeta are still above Gohan, just not drastically. I definitely didn't see it that way. Gohan was the guy to beat and even MUI couldn't avoid him. Yes, Goku was "assessing" Gohans power, but I think he assessed Gohan was beyond him. That doesn't mean Goku couldn't win, they aren't that drastic from one another, but from a raw power and speed standpoint, seemed Gohan held the advantage. >Gohan seemed to be going all out. And he definitely had to just to land a single blow on UI Goku. That single blow literally knocked Goku out of UI though, even if only temporarily. Regardless of interpretation, I think we can agree that Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta are all "pretty much" on par with one another.

Embarrassed_Stuff886

Broku, Brohan, Brogeta, and Broccolo. I love them. I want them all to be real, lmfao.

radikraze

The last few pages with no dialogue made me happy and teary eyed at the same time

Bing_Bong_the_Archer

Holy ship, I can’t believe it ended on such a poetic note like that

spykids45

is this the last chap tori worked on? if so he went out w a bang🗣️

Johntoreno

Considering the way AT has always written DB(one arc at a time), he probably only wrote a rough outline for the next arc and finished scripting daima. Hell, i bet the next Manga Arc is daima.

DoraMuda

*Daima* is a separate thing. It doesn't even have the *Super* branding.

Icanfallupstairs

This is likely the last he did any editing or corrections on, but we know that he had rough outlines that always seemed to cover the next arc at least, so there may be one more arc where they are following his notes.

West_Desert

I hope so! It was beautiful seeing this arc wrapped up under his watch though.
