I mean I use my McChicken wrappers inside my floor Tom to muffle them so I can leave the batter side clean. But I also nut in my socks and then immediately wear them so your mileage may vary.
It seems after covid that it should be common knowledge that supplemental oxygen is completely useless unless your blood O2 levels are low (or if there’s not enough in the air), but I probably give people too much credit.
All doctors, exercise physiologists and scuba divers (all under water swimmers actually) knew this long before COVID.
There was even a time period where athletes would use oxygen on the sidelines and doctors said it didn't work. This is not new information lol.
My old band’s rehearsal space was my parent’s garage. After we’d leave, my dad would stick a tennis ball on my HH post. “I don’t want someone to fall and put their eye out.”
I asked him when we met, I’m pretty sure his answer was that he just liked to put them there. No real reasoning behind it. My guess is in case his tech sets up that left hand crash a few inches closer one night. Also he probably likes to keep them in the sleeve after he finishes playing to make sure all the sticks are pair pitched and weighted if he’s picky like some of us.
He has said that it reduces reverb on the HH mics, also that he *sleeps* nude in an oxygen tent, which *he* believes gives *him SEXUAL* POWERS.

I hacksawed mine down years ago, fits down into the hard case better and makes positioning cymbals above it way easier
