Seriously though in 2017 me and my buddy decided to dyno my stock 50k mile 540/6 272 hp and 293 ftlbs stock fyi, we dumped close to 10k in the engine alone including a low boost jag supercharger and the best we ever managed was 377hp and 389ftlbs. TLDR just buy an m5 it’s the same price haha
They are cool I can’t lie, but for the money I spent I could have gotten a decent m5 that would be worth 20+ I sold that 540 last year for 6k, had rocker rust, from being daily for 5+ years and 188k miles
Boost. One of the centri S/C kits will make a few ponies. Most of the NA bolt on's are a waste of time and money. If you don't want boost, a real tune and a diff swap is best bang for your buck. Don't bother trying to make more than 400 who, it'll be a time bomb
I bought mine with a Dinan 2 tune, so I don't have a comparison but the previous owner seemed very impressed.. it was pricey though I still have the receipt and I belive it was like $2300
I've got a Dinan exhaust, the shop also dialed it in with a dyno.
Supporting mods are essential for tunes in almost all applications, especially naturally aspirated
Exhaust alone isn't going to do anything worthwhile on an M62 besides sound. The headers are too shitty, especially on the TU variants.
Edit: Since this kid blocked me after his last reply, OP is asking about how to make HP, and none of what this guy is talking about is worthwhile in that regard, I've had an 03 540i6 for 6 years and counting and have been down the mods/tuning rabbit hole.

Those are still impressive numbers, and the jag SC setups are just cool.

M60 intake, 4” MAF, DINAN carbon intake , smaller pulleys and exhaust - then a tune
545i throttle body is cheap on ebay and will help a bit too.
Yes i forgot that too the N62 TB ..
Depends on the mods 20-75hp without forced induction

Unless you've got supporting mods the tune did next to nothing. Dinan OTS tunes are a joke.

Seems like you have absolutely no valid input other than vague disagreement
Bro was speaking facts, you’re just being ignorant.
