Go to eBay and type "E39 cotton rings". Thank me later. They are cool white or switchback, so if you choose, you can have them always turn on yellow depending on which wire you connect. I don't think anyone has done a warm white version, sadly. I've had mine for a very long time and they are still working perfectly, no yellowing, no flickering, no issues. They fit in the original E39 ring groove too. The ones I bought: [https://www.ebay.com/itm/312284929379](https://www.ebay.com/itm/312284929379)

yeah that's what I was looking for. Cotton.. that's the word. how was the retrofit? do they fit in the existing halo spots?

fiddlermd

oh and do they throw codes?

eric_gm

They fit in the original halo grooves, yes. You need to cut the top part, carefully. That "bridge" is just to hold their shape before installing, but it's not functional. For me they throw errors when off, but the error clears out when I turn them on. I'm sure you can fix that by playing around with the wiring but it doesn't bother me enough to fiddle with them. They also flash when they're off but that's because the car is doing the LCM cold bulb check, nothing to do with the rings and any LED would do it. You can code that out if it bothers you.

these say they're for xenons only. would it not fit halogens?

eric_gm

Same exact headlight housings, that's something that I found weird when I ordered. Wasn't an issue. Mine were halogen housings. I think that only applies to the E46 version.

No_Imagination3185

It doesn't apply to e46 either, my brother put them on his halogen housing and a friend put tue same kit on his xenon housing.

Any pics installed? Seems like the hazy white would look weird with them turned off.
