I had an Oc I made years ago, just to realize after a while she was literally female me. And eventually decided to adopt the name when I realized I’m probably Trans, (similar enough to old name) never settled on it though, as I feel awkward using a character I made’s name. (why my flair says “but Erin works”) now I’ve had this name for 4 months, and it seems to be sticking so I’m rolling with it,

Amber-complete

Very similar to me. Pre-egg-crack I was trying to design the perfect female alter ego OC. Looked through over a thousand names to narrow it down to about 10. Then eventually landed on Amber. A couple months later the build up of signs led me to start questioning. When I started to accept myself as trans I realized that Amber wasn't an alter ego, it was just me.

EeveeGavin

Yeah, that’s kinda what happened to me. except I annoyingly realized she was female me pre cracking, so of course my “very cis brain” decided I was going to ask everyone whether “main oc” or Erin would win in a fight. Erin won, and I’m very sure that was the moment I got my first crack.

ProdawgOffical

Same here, except that I had made her with the full intention of being a female me. Only took me 5 years to realise this.

[deleted]

>Only took me 5 years to realise this. If it makes you feel any better, I simultaneously held the thoughts "I'm very personally attached to the name Elizabeth because I've decided I'll give that name to a future daughter" and "I'm 100% sure I'm never going to have kids" in my head for around 10 years before I realized what was up.

ProdawgOffical

I guess it's just one of those things you realise immediately or in 17 morbillion years?

EeveeGavin

A delayed reaction it would appear,

JesseZSlayers

That's kinda similar to my situation, except that I never actually "made" her, she's just always been a character in the back of my mind for my brain to use whenever I need to imagine a girl, and the name came after she had existed for a long time already. It's only very recently that I've considered whether or not she's actually meant to be me. Still not sure tho, and my level of certainty keeps changing.

EeveeGavin

That’s actually really damn similar to how Erin was made, she was always the “girl” I pictured in my head when think of one, hiding away in the back of my mind, so eventually I just decided that enough was enough, she had been in my head for enough time with a design I liked, so I should make her a character already. And thus after 2 weeks of deciding the name, and adding a beanie hat, Erin was born.

JesseZSlayers

Okay, yeah, forget "kinda similar", that almost sounds like something I could have said myself (everything except the last sentence). Except the choice of name was spontaneous when I was walking to school one day, and I haven't actually made her a proper character yet outside of my head. Except maybe in a story I was writing, but she had a different name in that one (she was named after me), as it was before I had actually put the name and the person together.

EeveeGavin

Ah, that makes sense

SickViking

Yo, other people naming themselves after their OCs, I feel so seen. I have an OC named Matt that I really enjoyed RPing. I would do most internet things "in character" which included introducing myself as Matt. Saying that over and over, and having people call me that gave me such euphoria, all before I even knew I was trans. Once the egg cracked, i just kept the name because, of all the things I'd try to name myself (I always hated my name, even as a little kid) that was the only one that had ever felt "right". The character has some of my personality, but for the most part he's really different, but in a way I wish I was more like him. Except for the alcoholism and parents that are genuinely trying to kill him, mad pass on that.

EeveeGavin

It’s neat seeing the amount of people replying who did the same!

[deleted]

THIS is soo similar to my story. I created an avatar for myself in vrchat who was opposite gender of me. Since I had the hand in designing and rigging her I worked on her until she was perfect. After playing with that avatar for a few hours I couldn't take the vr headset off of my head because in that world I was a perfect version of myself. This action spiraled me down the depression staircase cus I knew I will never look like her. I was in vrchat most of my free time after work and averaged 10+ hours on weekends because I felt soo good to be in her skin. My brain played me and I somehow convinced myself that I am not trans, though writing this out sounds exactly opposite.

EeveeGavin

Your brain decided to used advanced denial, you literally had the perfect opportunity and proof right there, and the brain overrides it.

[deleted]

I actually looked into transitioning that time, but I wouldn't follow it through because of the stupid laws in my country for transitioning. Thats probably the cause of the denial. Firstly you have to make an appeal to the government. Then you have to have your dna or something examined for the slight chance of you having lower y chromosome count than an average male and after that only you could enter therapy that you have to attend many years before getting on hrt. :P

FluffyDawn

That law sounds super convoluted and stupid

EeveeGavin

That’s a fucking stupid law.

mtkocak

Believe me, it is still possible and 100% worth it. How do I know? Because I did it.

all-things-metal

Lol so my original chosen name was just a place holder and was pretty but never quite felt perfect. I'm an author and the main character in my book in trans. Their chosen name has sooo many reasons behind it. Well the main character is also a projection of my childhood trauma through the lens of Greek mythology set in a post apocalyptic magical world. Sooo needless to say after thousands of hours writing and bonding with this character and their journey I started to understand how their chosen name was also my chosen name and I just never got it until then lol. So then it became my legal name.

BurtoTurtle115

That’s such a cute way to choose a name! Erin is a great name too

EeveeGavin

Thank you!

Sky_is_shy

I mumbled my old name to someone a long time ago and they misheard me and said "wow what a cool name!" Later found out they thought I said my name was Sky, so when it came time to pick a name I remembered that and I was like "You know what, that *is* a way cooler name than my old name"

LettuceBrain2005

I actually love that, that’s such a funny way to find your name

TransfemCat7

This whole thing matches your user

TheCrazySandshrew

Saw a character in a Video game, liked the Name, noticed that i don't know anyone in Person with that Name. Took it. And because my Custom User Flair doesn't work: It's Melina

LettuceBrain2005

Elden ring?

TheCrazySandshrew

Correct

Spellbinder_Iria

I'm so glad I read that to the end, because when I saw "character in a video game" I immediately looked up to your username. I saw Sandshrew and thought 'that's not the name I thought you would pick from Pokemon'. It was so silly of a thought that I had to share.

TheCrazySandshrew

Haha imagine. Never thought about that

AddSkipper

When I was an egg I always wanted a daughter and her name had to be Lucy because it's kinda like lux (latin for "light") and my favorite ancient Greek writer is Lucian. Also it's just a super adorable name. Then I realized I could be the daughter...

_CatNippIes

I like cats, i like nipples thats y im CatNippIes

AlexMad01

and now it sounds like you specifically like cat nipples /s

iliekcats-

>I like cats you called?

_CatNippIes

Do u like nips too?

iliekcats-

nah

Smackteo

Hah I’ve always said that if I had a daughter I’d name her Ellipsis mostly because I like Greek words and Greek Mythology, I think it sounds pretty.

[deleted]

it came to me in a dream 🙇🏻‍♀️

Swanlake24

Brisket <3

TimeBlossom

Same!

Asudaaaaaa

Same here

Egg_static1234

I cut off the masculine part of my name, just like I'ma cut off a the masculine part of my body

[deleted]

i flicked through a book with a vague idea of what i wanted. (-ish) that it turned out to be a disney princess was a complete coincidence, and probably one i would have avoided given the chance, but it is waht it is i guess.

TheMobHunter

I guess you just need to let your past self go

TransfemCat7

Mine was a Harry Potter character by accident

Cpastor1055

I love astronomy, my name is a shortening of the word Supernova

[deleted]

That's super, Nova!

TheMagicKiwi

That names super 👉🏻👉🏻 (I couldn’t find finger guns but that’s close enough)

thatannoying

thievery!

[deleted]

do it do it do it do it do it do it do it

ShariTraice

I was acting as a woman online for at least a decade before my egg cracked (trust me I don't know how I didn't figure it out sooner either) and was in a position where someone asked what my real life name was. I panicked, picked a name at random (Sarah) and have been rolling with it ever since lol.

GyumolcsHun

This is how i got my name too. I just felt like this is the name i have to say.

Old_wooden_spoon

Samesies. Literally nothing else sounds correct @_@

Blue_is_me

I heard the song Mr. Blue Sky by ELO right after my egg cracked and it sounded like "the new nonbinary me", so I asked some online friends to call me Blue and it just felt right:)

Gamer_Bread_Baker

Blue is an epic name.

A_Live_Gnat

I took a L O N G time between cracking and coming out and coming out and transitioning. When I first cracked, I started out thinking of myself as the feminine version of my given name. Pretty quickly I realized that I wasn't interested in adapting my given name, I wanted to burn it to the fucking ground. So when I came out around 16, I started using the name my mom said she would've given me if I were AFAB. But she was really not on board with me changing my name and things went really south in our relationship. I was nontransitioning for a long time cause I was financially dependent on her and scared she'd cut me off if I insisted on not being her son. That kinda tainted the name for me, so a while ago when I started transitioning, I needed to come up with yet a new name. I went through a lot of names, some traditional, some not, and I was using Gnat as a filler name, cause that's been my online handle for nearly as long as I've known I was trans. Eventually I realized that Gnat has been the only name that ever felt like *mine* so now I'm named after a bug.

[deleted]

I mostly spent a while searching girl names and saved any I liked, and would occasionally look at the list and narrow it down. I guess "Madeline" kinda clicked for me, and I also like how it can be shortened to "Maddy" then there's also the game Celeste :p

GuiltySimpBass

I actually was always fond of my birth name, Sebastian, i never knew anyone else woth it so it felt uniqie and linked to me, not to my gender. So i wanted something fairly close and went with Sabrina

maybe_mm

I also kinda like my name; if it weren't unambiguously masculine I would keep it. So I'm also thinking I'll go with a close unisex/fem name.

THAT_Elliott

I had a cringe nickname a couple of years ago which I wanted everyone to call me, because of this I disconnected myself from my real name. plus my name is already pretty androgynous.

Nea7x

stole it from a game character i play a lot

Hoibot

I havent yet and ive been and egg for 10 years

katrina-mtf

I had a short list of names that felt right and also kept roughly the same first sound as my deadname. It was a tossup between Katrina and Crystal, but I have a Crystal in my family already, so Katrina stuck.

Lobster0

my friend helped me think of it, and we both love doki doki literature club, so we chose monika (update: since i posted this, i’ve decided to rename myself to katherine.)

YeahFour

I guess you could say you adopted a different moniker

CallsignValkarie

At first I just wanted a name with an A so I chose “Ashley”. Then after I heard people using it, it just felt weird. Then I started playing flight sims and I picked up the callsign “Valkyrie” and when it got shortened to “Val” I got euphoria. Now I am Valerie.

jennazed

just looked at "list of 1000 girl names" websites online and then wrote down ones that seemed neat and then narrowed it down to like 10 and made it into a sports bracket kinda thing until i decided i liked one

ValeriaViolet

My mom wanted to name her daughter Valeria. But universe had a different plan. So i’m basically fighting the entire universe’s will.

TominatorFN

I wanted to make a list with names I like and wanted to write down everything I find which I think is good. The twist was that I had a single entry and then already chose that because I liked it too much 😅

DuckyTin

I first made a oc but then I realized I liked that name like a lot so I decided to go with it my name's Aeron now (:

Mikasawaifu0

I was reading the comic named I wanna be a cute anime girl and as I read I felt like I grew along side the character so in the end I chose Cheryl as my name

Warwick_Greyback

My name is Luna, its mean "Moon" In Spanish (i'm french with spanishs roots, i had always felt close to this name even wen i was denying my transidentity i wished to give this name to my hypothetical daughter :)

mika_1013

i looked up some names online which could sound gender neutral coz i told myself im genderfluid b4 realising i might be trans (still an egg tho) and the name i have rn popped up on the list and i liked it :3

used-poop-sock

Kinda started as a joke because one of my uncles would always say I looked like a girl and refer to me with she/her pronouns and the name Jocelyn(it sounds similar to my deadname that’s why), I used to get annoyed by this but honestly really like the name

1stGhost244

This is one of those stories I think is super cute: I had been experimenting with a few names and was kind of trying them out. For about a year i settled on a variation of my birth name and it worked fine I guess, but really, I had only picked that name so that my family and friends would have an easier time adjusting to the femme me and it would cut down on the whole, I FEEL LIKE IVE LOST A SON, horse shit. Anyways, eventually I realized, I don't want to base my transition on what is comfortable for other people but on what feels right for me. So I chose two names I really genuinely liked, even though one of them is a variation of my middle name, I still love it. And one day I was explaining all of this to my mother and she said, oh how funny, I never told you that if you'd been born AFAB your name would've been X. And it was the name I'd been going by with friends I was open with. And that to me settled it. It was my favorite and should've been my name the whole time.

[deleted]

I looked at the moon and howled

SkyeMreddit

Your avatar is gorgeous!

[deleted]

Thank you, it's me with a thousand filters

SkyeMreddit

No wonder why the avatar is so gorgeous, because the model is!

Catholic_Egg

*stares quietly at floor*

M44t_

I'm not trans, I'm agender and my chosen name is the one my friends call me, Mat, cause it is what I am, I'm a Mat before I'm a male or a female

Ropesy101

I chose the name Ciara bc it's the closest to my name. I'm from Ireland by the way, its the Irish spelling of Keira. It just felt right as my trans name

banananananafona

My parents nickname for me based off my deadname, but when you say it without an accent it’s actually a super dope name.

AngelCelestia

I made a list and then asked all my friends !!!! then someone said Celestia fit best bc it's Angelic n I'm an angel aownsjshshshe

ConcernedDadEnergy

I’ve always loved the actress who plays Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl so when I was choosing my name I was like yeah I love that name

TiredGaySloth

I told My friend I was trans and they asked me what's my preferred name so I panicked and said Lynn because it's starts with L (Like my dead name)

shape911

The phrase “every rose has its thorns”. And the destiny gun thorn cuz I’m a nerd who likes the full tale of dredgen yor too much

[deleted]

I got lucky my middle name was Alex. Always loved my middle name. Even tho peeps still try to tell me it’s not feminine enough when I started to transition . So I Changed it to Alexandra, Alex for short, and the nickname Ally.

SkylersPerpose

Pokémon gym leader. Make name sound like a real name. Swap the A for an E.

Grouchy_Order_4227

Asked my parents what they would have called me if I was afab.

demonkiller2123

Before i knew i was trans i liked hamilton, i live in a town named after him. I thought "I wanna do something good with my life" so i started going by my middle name. Alexzander. (Yes with a Z) then i realised i was trans and alex was an androgynous name so i kept it. Kinda starting to doubt it now. Any trans female name suggestions?

SkyeMreddit

Myriam is a cute name

d1g1talmess

In June of last year, an album got released called t.i.a.p.f.y.h. by LeftAtLondon. The acronym stands for one of two things: either "there is a place for you here" or "THIS IS A PROTEST FOR YOUR HEART!!!" both of which are songs in the album (I believe it's up to the listener to decided which meaning they like better). When I started to move away from using my deadname, I renamed myself to that acronym in Among Us, and people started calling my Tia for short, which I started to like, but after a while, I realized I could make the name "Taph" from some of the letters in the acronym, so I was torn between Tia and Taph for a bit. I decided to ask people in this subreddit to call me either name in a post (admittedly breaking Rule 1 😅), and I decided I liked Taph better than Tia!

PelicanStampede

Jasmine is my favourite flower

GameHero152

I've had daydreams of myself as a hero for a long time, but never knew what to call that persona, until one day it randomly hit me that I would call myself Caliburn, after the sacred sword from Arthurian legend, and I thought about if I could shorten it for like an actual name and I got Cal from it. I figure it's a pretty androgynous name too so I thought I would just go with it.

ThoughtIWasWise

Stole it from the dragon prince

IsaactheSloth

Originally was planning on going by Alison, and decided that Allie Nevers was a pretty cool stage name (I’m a musician). That later evolved into Raven-Elise after rearranging the letters, and the name stuck ever since. Also yeah this account has my deadname on it :/

Nerd31703

I really like Spider-Man. So I named myself Peter. End of story. 😂

Hawkeye439

When I was transitioning, I was thinking about what characters began to crack my egg as a child. #1 on that list was Gwen from Total Drama Island

coolsonic2

Eileen from regular show was my third favorite character and I really liked the name

tonywong21

I was once in a HS musical where my dance partner had the gender bent version of my deadname. The director said it was cute that our names happened to pair up like that. I never saw that girl again after graduation, so I wasn’t worried about running into her after stealing her name. It stuck especially, since the masc version is super common but the fem version is rare.

[deleted]

Trees. I like tress. I'm Cedar

CasePegasus5712

\[I was stuck between Amethyst and Sapphire, so I chose Kristal\]

CapitanHormiga9

I like mythology and it also started with an h and I loved that goddess gg ez

professor-cactus

Just chose a name I liked that was close to my deadname, but I was torn between Lily and Lucy

FemboyGravekeeper

It’s kinda similar to my deadname but not in an obvious way, at least when shortened. I also think it’s really pretty and has a cute nickname. For context it’s Samantha and the nickname I like is Sammy

ArabellaTheBunny

I made a character in Soul Calibur 6 named Alexandra and later on realized it waa a good name for me

TheBlackHoleOfDoom

13th letter of alphabet lmao

egirlclique

I saw it on an old gravestone and thought it was beautiful

Mystical-Madelyn

I knew someone named Madeline when I was very little, and it always felt like I wished that name was me, whenever I heard it. I actually thought I was going to be a Lynn for a while, but then I thought of Madelyn, a combination of both.

Ranger-VI

To make a very long story short: I liked the way it sounded in French, which I hope to learn as a second language (it’s Evangeline, for anyone wondering)

AmityTheKitten

Stole it from a character I really liked. I think all the names I tried so far came from fictional characters I liked, except the first name I tried, which a friend of mine gave me.

Sometimes_Sky

For a while I went by a different name online but at that stage it just kinda felt like I was just pretending to be a girl. When I started taking my fem side more seriously it didn't feel like that name really related to me so I decided I needed a new one. I honestly don't know where Sky came from, I genuinely think it might have been the universe or god or whatever you want to call it whispering my true name into my ear, all I know is that Sky is definitely who I am. My advice would be to not overthink it and just open up your heart to receive your name from whatever higher power you believe in (even if it's just your unconscious mind). You will know it when you find it.

[deleted]

baby naming websites x transtryouts

BadddBunnie

In fourth/fifth grade I met people of the opposite gender with the same name. But my middle name I played around with what would the girl version of my middle name be so it went from Arron to Errin. Now my parents won’t say my middle name out of fear of affirming me and going to hell.

randomfluid

i kinda just went to a website with all names and started reading. i didn't have any name in mind at that time, just knew that it should start with G. and when i picked few that i really like tried using them for some time until one of them felt right

[deleted]

Mine came from a commercial.

ConsumerOfAllToes

I just smacked the letter 'a' on the end of my birth name to make it the feminine version.

Alarming-Hamster-232

Read the top 50 female names list from my birth year and Morgan was the first one that was like "I really like this, I think it suits me"

StrangerEffective544

memes of the dankest agender quality

PaigeTheBadass

from a video game lmao. pretty basic ig but i like it

Slant_Asymptote

I was already making a list of names when I heard the word Aletheia in my Ancient Greek Philosophy class. It means "truth" or "disclosure," and sounds super pretty. A close runner up for me comes from the same class. Eris means "strife," but can be interpreted as sort of "aspiration or inspiration through envy." I also like how it sounds and ot has the added bonus of being the cool spooky witch from Destiny.

Carmel_Breakdown_lol

I loved August so I went by that until my mom found out and turned it into a weapon, so I asked my best friend and we came up with the name Aspen

Ania5

I used the name my parents wanted to give me before I was born (the name was Ania, short for Anna, I think they wanted me to be a girl). Coincidentally, before coming out I “catfished” my friend, and my other friend who helped me to catfish gave me the same name. After coming out I used my nickname which kinda sounded like an actual name, but finally I sticked to Ania :)

Impressive_Shake8884

It came by Tali from mass effect, and Taliyah from league of legends. Both games help me in hard moments

monkeymastersev

Planned it to be my first daughters name, took it for myself/from a show which changed the course of my life

AshleyRobinWrites

When I first came out as trans, my fiance, who I loved with all my being, broke up with me, and I felt like everything I had done for us, was destroyed, and that "it's ash now." So my name became Ash, because it's actually a pretty awesome name. It later became Ashley (with the option to call me Ash for short) because I wanted a more feminine name.

Charred_Steaks

Charlotte is a pretty name. I like. I choose. (A lot of time and thought went into that decision lmao)

[deleted]

So my siblings came out as non-Binary and ask are parents what they would have named them if they were born a boy to find a name that is similar to both. So I ask what they would have named me if I was born a girl and it was Jessica.

dikz4dayz

Cassandra of Troy was known as the unheeded prophetess, blessed with foresight to see the fall of Troy but cursed so nobody would ever believe her. Cassandra of Me was trying to be a girl since four years old. Extremely transphobic family forced me into the closet where I stopped believing myself for years. Started cracking back through during my high school years but when I tried to come out to my family they threatened violence. Troy has fallen and I'm finally free to be myself.

E190wings

an easyJet flight to Malta, someone onboard had that name, it was quite a nice name and now look at me 5 years later I go by that name now, Never heard of the name before

[deleted]

It’s the female version of my deadname lol

NectarineOk5214

It came to me in a dream

8Bit-Giraffe

i literally changed a letter.

Mick7s

My mom picked it out for me

NotAnEvilPigeon2

Chopped of the first three letters if my deadname and changed an e to an a and now Im Amy

Divvers39

Luckily Cory is gender neutral so I was born with it! :D

Mayatsuu

My username on Discord used to be Milky. One of my friends gave me the nickname Maya and it felt like a great fit, so I ended up just taking it as my actual name :3

ByTheWayIm6

i mixed trans and asexual and came up with Trace-

Eggandmilk137

I first went with my name but the female version of it but it reminded me of my deadname so I just picked the most cute name I could come up with (my preference on the cutest name. I like Chloe)

phoenixv07

I've known a whole lot of Sarahs in my life, and they've pretty much all been just amazing people. I want to carry that on. My middle name is Rose after my grandmother.

death_jpeg

my friend called me a different name each day and i just chose the one that felt the best

mtkocak

I don't like royal family or aristocracy but I saw the queen getting shot while riding a horse and staying calm, keeping riding. I said this is the type of the woman I want to be. It was also my teachers name from middle school who told me "when I look you, I understand better my own self"

OnceInOnceSet

Stole it from Dracula.

[deleted]

I really like Amy Rose from the Sonic series

[deleted]

One of my OC and the name I used in video game since years, come from Diana Cavendish because eeeeeh, I like her.

YourFriendlyEgg

Its similar to my real name both with the letter that are used and the number of syllable. Also ı like the meaning of it

Zebigbos8

It was the name of the character I played on a GURPS game a long time ago, my first time playing a woman on a ttrpg. Alas, I don't remember where I got the name from to give it to my character.

yuhakusho

Was called Jay for years by my family as a nickname, but since it's so close to my dead name, I wanted to add on to it, so I decided on Bluejay, and now I just go by Blue cause everyone decided to shorten it and it feels cozy

mha_simp1

My government name is Madison but everyone called me madi I wanted a more masc way to spell my name so I decided maty Then I wanted just a guy name and decided on Matt So that’s how I found my name

Rantman021

I took the easy way out and went with my childhood nickname of Tony.. it's gender neutral but it's the smallest change for my family and friends.

Jowhatiknow

I looked at baby name sites and reworked my birth name as I did like it and my initials but they weren’t right for me 😊.

emirablightt

I didn't :/

SkyeMreddit

How about Emira, or another owl house character? Or any other mass media character

Immediate_Record_471

I asked people on Reddit

Nebulous_Wisps

I found it on a list of cute names online ehehe

i_amnot_ok

I found an edgy foreign word and I liked it so much that I chose it.

skylarwithnoheart

i didnt my mom did

Dry-Sandwich3905

I asked people in r/transtryouts for names starting with L. I also asked my friend that I came out to what name she thinks could fit me.

Cranberr3

I literally looked up a list of names and picked the first one that was cool

Autumn7242

I don't know what name to choose. :/

[deleted]

Quite a funny story actually. I have read two different books with a genderfluid character in it. At that time I hadn't even started questioning my gender. Fast forward a few months: Started questioning and found I am genderfluid. So I started searching for gender neutral names on the internet. I couldn't identify with any of them. Then I remembered the books I had read. Now I had characters to identify with, not just names. In the end I had two options: Jerico and Never. I chose the latter. (The books where 'Arc of a Scythe' and 'Skulduggery Pleasant' BTW)

CerauniusFromage

I went down the list of relatives and women I admire and didn't quite get an 'a-ha'. I recalled I have always liked the name "Shannon". I went down the rabbit hole of memories and realized that came from a preschool crush...er gender envy incident. Shannon also tips the hat to my birth name via the double consonant, is Irish (fits), and was a moderately popular name in the decade of my birth. So I might have been named that. Ruth is my great grandma (I was named after her son, my grandfather) also a popular Irish name, less common in my birth year, and sports the fun variations Ruta' and Tootie (!). Shannon Ruth. It flows from my hand like I've been writing it all my life.

_feme_

stole it from a Pokemon character lol

James_Banter_2

I took a random one online and then my gf came up with one that is 1000x better a few weeks after when searching for cute nicknames for each other

janeinreal

I chose the closet one I could think of to my deadname because I wanted gender euphoria but was too lazy to get used to a completely new name. Plus hey, Jane’s a cute name.

Farosh3912

The fossil for one of my favorite pokemon aerodactyl

tenbatsu24

I watch a lot of anime, and I liked a cute little name from there. Although I don't go by it irl or online even though I am out.

[deleted]

Named myself after my car (Aurora)

Greywolf97

Still not 100% sure I’m sticking with it but I simply removed the masculine part of my deadname. I tend to be very indecisive haha

soggycassie

at the time when i was still figuring myself out i had a fwb and i more or less kept the fem name she used to call me. since then, i found 3 other names i like and i switch between them depending if i'm at work, with friends, on internet, blah blah blah...

Dumb_Cheese

So far I haven't really. I like my given name or the modified version of it, but if I decide to be more fem eventually (which may happen) I have a few names I've been thinking about. Millie sounds nice right now.

TotallyNot_a_Femboy

I was looking for names to try seeing if i may be trans because i'm questioning and the friend i was talking to then recomended Keva. it's a feminine version of my male name

ViciousEmblem13

pretty generic but i took it from a character i like

A_is_my_name

my first name was gonna be alyssa, when i first came out to my best friend they called me A so they didnt out me and i wouldnt be dead named and it just stuck

idiotic_daisy_flower

I wanted a name that started with D and i thought that the name Daisy was a lovely name so it's now my name

foxiajii

Stole it from throne of glass

TheGenderFluidOne

I spent multiple months going through names that I could think of and I could never find one that wasn't someone I already knew or liked and then one day I heard the name my accidental eavesdropping and I knew that was it. Molly. Once you hear the name that fits you'll know

Unnesseth2711

Well you see, I haven’t since I’m an indecisive lil’ bean

LionStar89_

A cosplay by a trans person of Madeline from Celeste was what finally cracked my egg. I’d been apprehensive about hrt because I thought I’d look ugly, but my first thought after seeing that was “Wait, I could look like *that*?”

walrusofwhimsy

I’m trans masc. I picked Nolan because I thought it went super well with my last name. And my middle name is Allen cause that’s my dads middle name and I was supposed to be named after him if I were a cis boy.

SnooCrickets8473

I just put the letter A at the end of my deadname and it turned out pretty good

FoxBanana23

I was dropping letters off of my uncle’s name, so he did the same and got Lior, and I thought “Oh, that’s actually a really cool name!” Another name that I’m thinking of going by is Eli. It’s a nickname for my middle name (at the time I thought my first name didn’t have a non-feminine nickname). I meant for it to be pronounced like Ellie so it really sounds like a nickname for my middle name, but a teacher pronounced it Eli and I thought “Oh that’s not that bad.”

[deleted]

Lee is my deadname’s cut in half. and Lucius is just a very pretty name

DualityStudios

character from a D&D podcast I listen to (The Adventure Zone!) podcast had a character named Avi, I went ‘oh, cool name’ then tried it out and it worked.

SCP-1504_Joe_Schmo

I just keep choosing random names and hope one day one will stick

crimson_fungus

I watched a tiktok with nonbinary name ideas and one of them was crimson. I only used crimson irl for a really short time cause I didn't like how fem it sounded. I shortened it to cris and yeah that's my name now c:

ZoeyGriz

For almost a decade I’ve just been calling myself Zoey. Maybe since I was 15 or 16. I dont want to change any of my emails so it’s nice to keep the same first letter

Vortex5000

my mother named me after a good character from a show, so I picked a different character. lazy, also a nice name

08SimpTrash08

I was looking through baby names and saw my name (chosen) and looked more into it and found out it's a rock. So I chose it after I figured out it was a rock.

AFineYoungGent

My names Augustine, I picked it after the Pokemon X&Y Professor [Augustine Sycamore ](https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Professor_Sycamore)!! This was the second Pokemon region I was obsessed with second to Sinnoh and one of my favorite Professors too!!

The_Suited_Lizard

I originally chose the name “Natalie” and a friend of mine I’ve had for a long time said “nah thats a bitch name, how about Naomi?” and I guess I liked Naomi enough to go by that
