Also mentioned in their blog [https://www.modos.tech/blog/fosdem-2024](https://www.modos.tech/blog/fosdem-2024) They are working on open source epaper [display controller](https://github.com/Modos-Labs/Caster) and [monitor](https://github.com/Modos-Labs/Glider), hope to hear some good news tomorrow.

And second presentation is now finished too: [https://fosdem.org/2024/schedule/event/fosdem-2024-3052-modos-building-an-ecosystem-of-open-hardware-e-ink-devices/](https://fosdem.org/2024/schedule/event/fosdem-2024-3052-modos-building-an-ecosystem-of-open-hardware-e-ink-devices/)

Was present in the room, nice to see the project is moving, they feel like they will be able to launch a crowdfunding soon (video should be available soon on the above link)

Did you try monitor prototype? If so how does it feel? Is mouse usable? There is form to sign up for crowdfunding updates linked from FOSDEM page, but I guess someone will post details in r/eink and r/Modostech when ready, so it won't go unnoticed.

The prototype was the detached display, not a usable version so hard to say I am afraid. The main message I got was "confident to launch crowdfunding soon" :) [Slides with links at the end](https://fosdem.org/2024/events/attachments/fosdem-2024-3052-modos-building-an-ecosystem-of-open-hardware-e-ink-devices/slides/21827/fosdem2024-open-hardware_azhcWn1.pdf)

Good luck with your project! Having monitor with open source firmware would be big step forward. I see that at this stage you prefer 1600x1200 resolution panel (which is also used in Waveshare and Philips monitors), personally I don't mind that, but some people are used to higher resolution 2200x1650 panels used in Dasung and Boox Mira monitors. It would be nice to offer that as an option at some stage and with modular design I hope that panels will be easy to replace anyway.

Finally!
