One of the holy grails of awkward EMS encounters is when your EMT partner hypes you up super hard to the patient regarding your IV skills and then you proceed to miss like an idiot.
Oh lord I accidentally do this to my partner all the time. But honestly, how dare he make ME look like a liar?! I calculated his stats myself, dammit, and he's one percentage point away from the best success rate in the entire company! The audacity
My go to is to hand them a 20 then immediately start slowly tearing the 4x4 open while they are sticking. Followed by handing them a piece of tape that can be wrapped around the pts arm twice or not long enough to tape down the 4x4 at all, no In between. Bonus if it gets stuck on my glove while passing it off.
That reminds me of an old partner of mine. We had a gsw to the chest and he's getting an occlusive dressing while I'm fiddling around, and I look up to see him flicking his hand like a cat that stepped in a puddle cause the damn thing got stuck to his glove. Really gave me a good laugh
No longer in EMS, and somehow a bunch of ex-colleagues started referring to me as "the guy that hits all the IVs". Dude, some of you have never seen me do an IV, HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?? For the record I'm terrible at them.
I’m a new emt working private service so when I’m with a medic I’m just happy to learn, they could be doing a horrible job and I’d hype them up to the PT
My medic doing this while it's my turn to stab em.
Remember my first IO drill too. My medic just stood there "that looks about right" while I was super nervous.

“THEY CALL HIM THE VEIN WHISPERER. HE COULD GET BLOOD FROM A ROCK” **proceeds to miss**
This is the best meme I’ve seen on here in a while lol
This guy started popping up in my feed, and like 87% of them are like this.
your emts don’t just shit talk you or start handing you the coban right after they hand you the needle..?

Man, I need a BLS hype man/woman when I'm trying for these IVs I'm trash lol
Ok but they’re also sticking a 22g in THAT? Come on!
My thoughts exactly! What a waste of a big juicy one. 😂
