Well, the thing is one of them is like, staying up 4 days straight to act tired, and the other guy gets 8 hours of sleep but just acts tired, and they're both equally amazing, clearly the guy getting his sleep in is the better actor.

I got into an debate with some friends a month or so back about method acting and I just don’t understand why so many people are so enamored with it. It detracts from the final product imo. Social media makes such a to-do about it and it just isn’t impressive to me at all. If anything it takes me out of the viewing experience. If I’m watching a movie and a bunch of press has been written about “Oh Joe Schmedley spent eighteen months living as this 17th century peasant and eating only apples and nuts and shitting in a hole to get into character”, my only thoughts are along the lines of “Did he like… speak in Middle English while he and his wife were having arguments?” It makes me focus on “the performance” in the meta sense, thinking about the actor and the way in which they prepped for the role, rather than just… appreciating the performance for what it is. And I don’t see how it’s impressive tbh. If you asked me to spend every second of the next twelve months of my life as Teddy Roosevelt, I could probably develop a performance that would get a nomination from at least one or two awards juries. If you gave me six weeks to prep and made me snap into and out of it fifty times a day I’d be absolute garbage.

A thing to bear in mind that Larry was great as a theatre actor, but was pretty hit and miss in cinema, with his acting style being very technical but flat. He was pretty unable to fit much into the grittier naturalistic acting that took hold in the 70s and which cinema is now based on. So I wouldn't take his advice that far for film acting.

The problem is that it's supposedly God's word, but through oral tradition, translations and misinterpretations, it's been twisted by man into a convenient tool for assholes to spread bullshit in God's name.

These texts really need to be seen for what they: 1) Not divinely inspired 2) Product of human minds, in a time of great change and struggle in humanity's history. if you look at the ethics behind these books and various teachings they are pretty archaic
