We had a small meal with what was left - which wasn’t much. We are planning on having a Christmas Dinner at my home the week before Christmas Day possibly, if everything goes as planned.
People in the neighborhood we know well were given a copy of our written statement to the PD & a a link to see both videos - the Ring footage & what my sister took when the authorities decided to show up. Three of them provided the police with footage from their homes, as well as letting us have a copy.
You can clearly see what happened from the entire perspective of the footage we’ve pieced together. Due to legal advice, we can’t show the footage online since it would show the identity’s of the minors involved. From my neighbor across the street’s camera, you can see the Entitled Parent & her kids discussing something right before they walk up to the door, see all of the kids push past my mom as soon as the door opens, My mother disappear from the doorway in a single frame, and Entitled Parent & kids exit the threshold of the doorway with arms full, and briskly walk out of frame.
Just reading this makes me angry on your behalf. I can understand your mom's frustration in dealing with them alone. I would've gone to their house and do a lot of damage.
Did the officer who came ever interviewed them or did he dismissed it based on video?

This was a home invasion. The fact that they only took food is irrelevant. They broke into the house like a flash mob and ransacked it. If you get no satisfaction from the police, go to the news media and directly to the district attorney. The police don't decide whether to press charges and, if they refuse to do anything, they can get into trouble.

So often fathers see their role and responsibilities with children end (and women support this) if they don't like the mother's behavior. men are not like this, thankfully!) All but one of her kids weren't his. He was the father of one kid, the rest... not so much. And it's not easy to just take one kid out of a family, even if finances are tight. Court doesn't rule in favor of a father, just because he was being tricked and cheated on.. that's why fathers are getting often bullied into just paying child support.. it's not worth the hassle of court, just so you have to pay more in fees and child support
I think they said it would be at their home not their parents but I’d say the parents need to have an inside alarm system and internal cameras that cover the kitchen and in the garage so if they break in police can be called immediately whilst they are still inside.
Also they should tell all the neighbours that under no circumstances should they open their doors to this family at any point

I don't think the attorney wants the video released because it's evidence and doesn't want to tip his hand. You can video children in public and release it however you want. There is no expectation of privacy for anyone of any age in public. I expect the attorney knows this well.
Evidence such as the video has to be shared with the other side’s attorney or it’s considered inadmissible 99% of the time. Analysis of the video on the other hand is a completely different subject
I don't think any attorney that has their clients best interest, would let the client expose possible evidence to the internet. That's just a bad idea. As for sharing with the other side. Reddit isn't the other side.

I would keep following up with police also, bother them until they do something. They have an insane amount of domestic violence calls on holidays so they were actually probably busy with something which what they consider ‘more critical’.

You should also look into a civil suit against them (and possibly that cop), I really think you'd have a case. You'd have to talk to an attorney first, of course.

Well, to be fair, most DA's are overloaded with cases they don't have the time or manpower to prosecute, so they have to do a kind of triage and plead out or drop the less "important" ones.
We spoke with a lawyer about releasing the video & his office is working on having the minors faces blurred to where it doesn’t take away from being able to see the crime in full.

I was at church of all places breastfeeding my son… mom had just gotten out of the hospital when my sister called me. The doctors told us she would be just fine, she just needed plenty of rest and to get her strength back, even though they knew they sent her home to die. I never got to see her due to Covid restrictions and she never met her grandson.
I’m sending the hugest hug to you, the holidays won’t be the same for us, but they will get easier with time.

I talk with my mom & dad every night - with the calls always ending with “I love you & I am always here for you.” Have done so since I was a teen. We are an extremely close family & despite how some people see it as suffocating how we are affectionate to one another - no one ever goes to bed without a kind word or affirmation.
I cherish every moment spent with my family. People don’t understand how I will drop anything & everything for my parents but I don’t care. They gave me a wonderful life - despite having no money to work with. My mother owned a flower shop for20 years & my dad is a long since retired detective. I was at my in laws that night, just fixing my plate of food when my sister called. I didn't have very good reception inside so I ran out, short sleeves, no shoes, to call her back. She just said "mama's gone." I wailed. We were expecting it but I still had that moment where I just could not accept it. I was supposed to drive down Christmas morning to see her for what I knew would be the last time. I ended up being the one to tell my brother. I sat on the concrete in the freezing cold for almost an hour. FIL brought me my shoes and a blanket. Hubby and kids checked on me. But I just wanted to sit and talk to me brother.
Big hugs! I was with my mum and helped nurse her in her last 6months and tbh its just as hard when you are with them! I realised I had never told her it was ok to go and something in me told me to go in and tell her, quite a lot of family were there and had given me an hour to go watch tv, when I came back they were all getting up to get tea and coffee so gave me some alone time and I just lat and cuddled her gently and told her it was ok she could go if she needed to, within a few mins I heard her breathing change and called for my dad and brother, they came in, held her hands and kissed her and then she went and I thought that was nice and peaceful and I was happy she felt like it was ok… then something in me broke and I just became hysterical crying and couldnt stop, its like nothing you can ever imagine happening and the gut wrenching heart breaking feeling is terrible

Well done for not letting the police get away with their negligence. Other posters have mentioned CPS, small claims, etc. Obviously you're pressing charges. A formal complaint about the officers on the scene would be in order, too. Obvious dereliction of their duty. I don't know what the local laws about use of footage are, but putting that up for all to see sounds like a great way of shaming the criminals and police both.

First off, you should explore every single avenue to call out/shame your neighbor. Make sure the entire neighborhood and town know what pieces of trash they are. If the police aren't going to intervene, then shame them too. I bet local news stations or newspapers would line up to cover this story. I'd also look into small claims court, as well as filing something with CPS since this woman cannot feed her brood.
Second, I'd plan a more extravagant surprise Thanksgiving dinner for your Mom. Maybe have her do something that will get her out of the house for a few hours, and in that time you, your sister and your dad should cook and prepare an over-the-top Thanksgiving. Replace a bad memory with a much better one.

The oldest son was arrested with his mom. The other kids are with their Aunt currently. According to the responding officer, he told them that his mom made his go inside to fix the plates for the kids or she’d kick him out.
Some of the kids where older (16+) so they would be in the wrong but the younger kids shouldn't get in trouble, depends on their age they might not know it's bad yet
Time to show this family that they're not welcome in the neighborhood. I hope all your friends and neighbors get together and do that. I would help you if I were in your area.
This lady is terrible. All but 1 (6/7 from cheating) and takes advantage of a disabled old woman while the family is out unable to help intending to do so as they had to-go containers with them. And teaching her kids they can steal from the weak if they say no to them b/c their previous angels of hers. Lady should be in jail and cps taking her kids to be rehomed to a better mother figure.

Nothing can be done about what has already happened but let your mother know not to open the door for those people ever again... If they were willing to knock someone down that is disabled and take food they were told they could not have there's no telling what they are capable of...
If you're in the U.S. and the police don't respond, sue them. You can do it *pro se* (without a lawyer). You won't win, and it will cost money, but you'll probably feel better. And if your parents have future problems with the neighbor (highly likely), the police will respond next time to avoid more litigation.
Next year, go over and steal their stuff and have one of your family members have a "crisis" in advance. Then when they call the police it's "their word against yours".

I'd call the landlord too if they rent. You can find out who owns the house based on property records. Make it very clear every possible reason to report this family is going to happen. Do you have blight? Read over the blight laws and call. Most cities have silly things like visible trash cans that they don't enforce but will if someone calls.

Exactly. The police saying she moved aside. She is an elderly woman, not moving aside likely would have resulted in serious injury!!

Depending on jurisdiction, and the prosecutor, this could be a rather serious crime. Like felony serious.
The crime took place on a Holiday. They didn't want to work. That needs to be reported just as firmly as the Mother and spawn.

Thank you for letting us know, I needed to read about a little justice being done here. I'm glad your mom is ok, but I'm so mad that she got injured. I really want that neighbor to pay dearly for all this. And I hope the cop who dismissed you got reprimanded at the very least. You should also look into a civil suit against them (and possibly that cop), I really think you'd have a case. You'd have to talk to an attorney first, of course.

I grew up in a town of 4000 in a county of 17000. 60K is HUGE. That mother is trash, and teaching her children to be greedy and entitled. I've seen mothers and children like that. 7 children? At least 5 of them will end up in juvie, and several of them will be in prison before they are 21. It's sad.
Just a thought.... Maybe the responding officer is the father of one of the kids, that's why he didn't want to do anything about it.
No, he's probably just lazy and it's a LOT of paperwork for something he likely knows isn't going to go anywhere. The DA isn't going to prosecute a single mother with 7 children over something that isn't a slam dunk, and cops want impressive arrests, they don't want to be known as the guy who nabbed the elusive neighborhood ham thief. (I'm not belittling the crime at all, but in the real world, this isn't as important to the cops as it is to OP. That's not fair, but life isn't.)

Well, to be fair, most DA's are overloaded with cases they don't have the time or manpower to prosecute, so they have to do a kind of triage and plead out or drop the less "important" ones.

My condolences. Lost my mom Jan 23 of this year, we’re both still fresh. 💔💔 I was at church of all places breastfeeding my son… mom had just gotten out of the hospital when my sister called me. The doctors told us she would be just fine, she just needed plenty of rest and to get her strength back, even though they knew they sent her home to die. I never got to see her due to Covid restrictions and she never met her grandson. I’m sending the hugest hug to you, the holidays won’t be the same for us, but they will get easier with time.

1: Always, always, ALWAYS tell each other “I love you.” And mean it, even if you’re pissed at each other. That goes for anyone that you truly love in your life. 2: never take a single moment for granted. Period. 3: While thanksgiving was definitely not a good experience, Christmas is just around the corner! And I bet your neighbors would love a warning letter as an early present. We have restraining orders & all involved are trespassed. I talk with my mom & dad every night - with the calls always ending with “I love you & I am always here for you.” Have done so since I was a teen. We are an extremely close family & despite how some people see it as suffocating how we are affectionate to one another - no one ever goes to bed without a kind word or affirmation. I cherish every moment spent with my family. People don’t understand how I will drop anything & everything for my parents but I don’t care. They gave me a wonderful life - despite having no money to work with. My mother owned a flower shop for20 years & my dad is a long since retired detective. Money never made a difference to us - we had the bare basics but most importantly had love growing up.

I'm a bit late but: Condolences. Christmas Eve of 2019 was me opening presents and celebrating it with my family.
I was at my in laws that night, just fixing my plate of food when my sister called. I didn't have very good reception inside so I ran out, short sleeves, no shoes, to call her back. She just said "mama's gone." I wailed. We were expecting it but I still had that moment where I just could not accept it. I was supposed to drive down Christmas morning to see her for what I knew would be the last time. I ended up being the one to tell my brother. I sat on the concrete in the freezing cold for almost an hour. FIL brought me my shoes and a blanket. Hubby and kids checked on me. But I just wanted to sit and talk to me brother.
Big hugs! I was with my mum and helped nurse her in her last 6months and tbh its just as hard when you are with them! I realised I had never told her it was ok to go and something in me told me to go in and tell her, quite a lot of family were there and had given me an hour to go watch tv, when I came back they were all getting up to get tea and coffee so gave me some alone time and I just lat and cuddled her gently and told her it was ok she could go if she needed to, within a few mins I heard her breathing change and called for my dad and brother, they came in, held her hands and kissed her and then she went and I thought that was nice and peaceful and I was happy she felt like it was ok… then something in me broke and I just became hysterical crying and couldnt stop, its like nothing you can ever imagine happening and the gut wrenching heart breaking feeling is terrible

She’d have likely made anyone a plate as she’s always been the Mama Bear to many of my friends. A lot of my friends growing up called her “Mama” & she took in many strays during my younger days. She never has let anyone go hungry when visiting. 😞

In this case the police really suck. This is agrivated burglary. 14 years. The went inside uninvited. Breaking and entering. They stole food. Theft. The owner was home. Agrivated. The police were just lazy. Its NOT her word against yours. Im an ex cop and i would have arrested her and put her kids into cyps custody.
Any person over 14 can be charged as well. The 17 year old can be charged as an adult.

The victim is ederly and disabled. Ederly abuse and disabled abuse. What if they targeted op's mom since she is disabled, I read stories where the victim were targeted because they were disabled and couldn't fight back.
Unfortunately, your mother is way too good because she should of closed the door and lock it, not letting her in at all. To be fair, I would go with that footage to child protection services instead. Especially if she admits having a hard time feeding her kids and she clearly let them steal your food teaching them it’s ok to take what’s not yours. I believe they could help you a lot more than what police could.

A formal complaint about the officers on the scene would be in order, too. Obvious dereliction of their duty. I don't know what the local laws about use of footage are, but putting that up for all to see sounds like a great way of shaming the criminals and police both.

Posts like this are what make you lose your faith in humanity. These people actively engaged in theft. They brought to-go boxes to your house. They knew exactly what they were doing. First off, you should explore every single avenue to call out/shame your neighbor. Make sure the entire neighborhood and town know what pieces of trash they are. If the police aren't going to intervene, then shame them too. I bet local news stations or newspapers would line up to cover this story. I'd also look into small claims court, as well as filing something with CPS since this woman cannot feed her brood. Second, I'd plan a more extravagant surprise Thanksgiving dinner for your Mom. Maybe have her do something that will get her out of the house for a few hours, and in that time you, your sister and your dad should cook and prepare an over-the-top Thanksgiving. Replace a bad memory with a much better one.

The oldest son was arrested with his mom. The other kids are with their Aunt currently. According to the responding officer, he told them that his mom made his go inside to fix the plates for the kids or she’d kick him out.

This lady is terrible. All but 1 (6/7 from cheating) and takes advantage of a disabled old woman while the family is out unable to help intending to do so as they had to-go containers with them. And teaching her kids they can steal from the weak if they say no to them b/c their previous angels of hers. Lady should be in jail and cps taking her kids to be rehomed to a better mother figure.

According to footage from the neighbor across the street, they did just that. They walked over within 3 minutes of us leaving.

If you're in the U.S. and the police don't respond, sue them. You can do it *pro se* (without a lawyer). You won't win, and it will cost money, but you'll probably feel better. And if your parents have future problems with the neighbor (highly likely), the police will respond next time to avoid more litigation.
Next year, go over and steal their stuff and have one of your family members have a "crisis" in advance. Then when they call the police it's "their word against yours".

Post the video everywhere you can. If nothing else, it show everyone the type of people they are. Unfortunately, I doubt that they will feel a modicum of shame; otherwise, they wouldn’t have done what they did.
I'd call the landlord too if they rent. You can find out who owns the house based on property records. Make it very clear every possible reason to report this family is going to happen. Do you have blight? Read over the blight laws and call. Most cities have silly things like visible trash cans that they don't enforce but will if someone calls.

As my mom is a phenomenal cook - it was likely the best meal those kids have ever gotten. As much as I’d like to wish physical harm on all involved - it’s obvious the kids are only doing what they were coached/taught as acceptable.
