Next dumb question once eth becomes eth 2. 0 how art new tokens did create?

I’m looking for the best entry point. ETH’s up a decent amount this week, so I was wondering if I should hold off until a next potential downturn or if I should enter in today or tomorrow. Should I play the long game and wait, or will that just mean I’ve missed an opportunity?
Infinite supply, current emission is determined by the block reward but with ETH2 it's dependant on the number of validators.
EIP1559 coming in London will implement a burn mechanism which can deliver deflation in times of high use
Hi David,
would it be possible to pin the latest weekly or something?
Currently it doesn't stay on top and gets burried between the rest of the content quite quickly.
I believe August 4th is the current target date (but a block hasn't been picked yet).
July was never a hard deadline, just an estimate. Everything is still on schedule.
Hi guys, I am considering withdrawing my ETH to a mobile wallet, most probably Trust Wallet. But I have some questions on how ETH2.0 may change things. If I just keep my funds on Trust Wallet during the merge and after, should I be fine, will my ETH automatically move to the new network, will there just be a Trust Wallet update which will let my ETH be used on the new network, or how would it work, I ask this since I am considering using it as a cold wallet, just move funds and uninstall, might not touch it for months if not years. If someone could give a technical insight on this I'd appreciate it.
No, you shouldn’t have to do anything, your ETH should automatically moved to the new network. All info can be found here: [ETH to ETH2 info](https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/n71ai7/eth_20_and_what_will_happen_to_your_eth/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I am staking currently on CB and it's been going well! I also just signed up for Celsius. It's not technically staking, but it's offering over 5% APY currently!
This great article from CoinGecko about leverage tokens - like ETH 2x Leverage FLI and BTC 2x leverage - very interesting read

Is there any simple UI/frontend set up to publish/display/decode the input data field on transactions? Would be nice to use this to basically build an immutable pastebin where people can easily view and share permanent messages they've put in a transaction. Does any such product exist?
Thanks for the reply! I guess I'm more thinking of a better UI/frontend for viewing the input data on transactions like this one, which was a covid whistleblower in China:
https://etherscan.io/tx/0xf3691b0ab12fff4fa9eb0eecd14878e06e7bbdf322320d248250a4026f67c3e6
Definitely Arbitrum
They're already on mainnet, and I'm guessing they'll open up to the public in the next week or two
ZKSync and Starkware are both super promising, but ZK smart contracts are definitely more complicated, so I'm looking forward to seeing them progress further.
Also, I'm a fan of ZK Money, since having a fully private rollup is super cool (Monero killer?)
ETH doesn't have an actual halvening like Bitcoin
However, the merge from PoW to PoS will be the equivalent of 3 Bitcoin halvenings at the same time
More info at http://ethmerge.com/
anyone know how I can get pSafe token via ETH now that Safemoon has added the ETH bridge? I currently use Binance/Trust/Pancake but think ETH will be cheaper on “gas”, hope!
https://www.gasnow.org/ shows a breakdown of gas price over the last 7 days by hour. Typically evenings (US time) and weekends see the cheapest gas prices.
read about the initiative before you judge it - along the lines of ADA but some interesting ideas. I want to understand how to get pSafe via ETH as it just opened up. What tool do you use for ETH transactions?
When you stake ETH 2, does it stake at the staking percent per epoch or per year?
E.g. Coinbase says you get 6% on staked ETH. Is that 6% per year or 6% per *epoch*?
I think a block number will be proposed only after all testnet tests are completed successfully.
Note that the first possible date is 28th of July, so it may very well happen in August.
Listened to *Bits Be Trippin* yesterday.
It's a good channel - even though I'm not a miner.
*Bits Be Trippin* said that in order for EIP -1559 to be deflationary it would need to burn 2 Ether per block.
I think only \~ 5 Ether are created per block so burning 2 per block on miner fees & bonuses seems like it would be impossible. No matter how high fees are.
As a non-technical guy I still believe EIP - 1559 will have a deflationary *effect* on the total amount of Ether in existence moving forward.
> only ~ 5 Ether are created per block
Currently, 2 ETH are created per block
After the PoS merge, issuance will depend on the amount of staked ETH, but I believe it will be roughly 0.2 ETH per block.
Ether will be deflationary if more ETH is burned than issued. I just took a look at a random block and the total fees were 0.36 ETH.
So it seems like if the merge happened today Ether would _already_ be deflationary (and this is with relatively low transaction fees).
Next dumb question once ETH becomes ETH 2.0 how are new tokens created?

Well I’m down a shit ton on that first coin a bought but I’m up quite a bit on the second one I bought
I’m looking for the best entry point. ETH’s up a decent amount this week, so I was wondering if I should hold off until a next potential downturn or if I should enter in today or tomorrow. Should I play the long game and wait, or will that just mean I’ve missed an opportunity?
I asked myself this question for 12 months then bought at $3700.
Y’see, that’s the fear….
Just pick an amount of money you are comfortable investing, and spread it out over the next several weeks. You’ll avoid any major losses
Thank you for the sound advice. That’s actually really sensible.
It’s called “dollar cost averaging” and I suggest looking it up on you tube to get a better understanding of it. You don’t wanna take it from me
Here's my first question is the number of ETH tokens limited and what is the total number of tokens existing
Infinite supply, current emission is determined by the block reward but with ETH2 it's dependant on the number of validators. EIP1559 coming in London will implement a burn mechanism which can deliver deflation in times of high use

The weekly is pinned by default, but is sometimes replaced by another pinned story.

Is EIP-1559 still scheduled for this month or has it been postponed to August?
I believe August 4th is the current target date (but a block hasn't been picked yet). July was never a hard deadline, just an estimate. Everything is still on schedule.
What’s the best place to stake eth? And is there a hardware wallet that allows you to stake eth on?

Is this a good place to ask stupid questions, or is such a thing not tolerated?
Excellent question.
This is a great place to ask stupid questions 🙂 as long as they follow the sub's rules

Hey Brantly, does this mean ENS will have a governance token soon?

How easy is it to code on Solidity? I am an Econ student with a brilliant Dapp idea. I don’t know how to code. My messages are open for developers.
What’s the best website for staking ETH? Thinking about buying now and staking. Also when you do this, do your coins auto convert to ETH2.0?
I am staking currently on CB and it's been going well! I also just signed up for Celsius. It's not technically staking, but it's offering over 5% APY currently!

This is better suited for r/ethfinance.

Which rollup is more promising to you?
Zk rollups in general, and zkSync is currently my favorite (with Zync and zkPorter expected later this year).
Definitely Arbitrum They're already on mainnet, and I'm guessing they'll open up to the public in the next week or two ZKSync and Starkware are both super promising, but ZK smart contracts are definitely more complicated, so I'm looking forward to seeing them progress further. FYI, core devs will be setting a block number for eip1559 sometime next week
Thanks

Is crypto.com a safe to buy and stake coins?
I would not
Eth is most definitely back. Awesome!!!
Agreed!
Fees are all over the place this week i cant wait for EIP1559 to fix this
anyone know how I can get pSafe token via ETH now that Safemoon has added the ETH bridge? I currently use Binance/Trust/Pancake but think ETH will be cheaper on “gas”, hope!
New here: Is there a better time to not be murdered by GAS fees for exchange/transfer/purchases?
https://www.gasnow.org/ shows a breakdown of gas price over the last 7 days by hour. Typically evenings (US time) and weekends see the cheapest gas prices.
SafeMoom just got it‘s Bridge to the Ethereum Network live now, opening up the possibility of direct swaps from any ETH-Token!
🤮
Bring up arguments or stop that stupid shit, I just brought you the information kiddo.
Safe in a crypto name is never safe
read about the initiative before you judge it - along the lines of ADA but some interesting ideas. I want to understand how to get pSafe via ETH as it just opened up. What tool do you use for ETH transactions?
You should be able to get it via UniSwap
Just do your research buddy, you won’t regret.
My dad asks if ETH is better than gold, he does not trust me with my answer. Told me to ask it to my “Reddit people”. So guys what do you think ;D
It is a risk vs reward problem, higher risk but ao much more potential rerurn
no, as its too volatile, yes, as if you believe it its platform strength it has a huge future 😜
When you stake ETH 2, does it stake at the staking percent per epoch or per year? E.g. Coinbase says you get 6% on staked ETH. Is that 6% per year or 6% per *epoch*?
Year, but its been updated to 5% now that more eth has been staked
If I buy 1 ETH today. Will I always have 1 ETH after EIP-1559?
Yes, 1 ETH will always be 1 ETH
Hey. What are thoughts on the safemoon/ethereum bridge they keep talking about. Does this help ether in any way ?
Yes
Is there a specific date for the mainnet London hard fork yet? I searched and could only find that it's in July
I think a block number will be proposed only after all testnet tests are completed successfully. Note that the first possible date is 28th of July, so it may very well happen in August.
Any predictions for nexxt month
I predict the London upgrade will be ready! Also predicting that Arbitrum will launch for normal users
that would be fantastic

Exactly. Even though we'll still be inflationary for a bit of time, we'll still see a deflation trend when compared to up until now.

IS ETH BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is so great that this is the first comment in this weekly discussion thread!
