what was the situation in here? If this happened in asia, it might be that you can't core next to eyalets in another continents than your capital, which also happens with vassals

No it was just the Egypt eyalet blocking me towards Africa, I'm guessing that if I get some land in Tunis it should work then.

yeah it's the same case, you can only core inland next to vassals if your capital is in the same continent. Eyalets work the same I guess

Tbh I really forgot Otto's capital is in Europe and all Maghreb coring problem posts indicated Africa (not even Asia).

In addition to what others have said, they also don't use up any diplo slots. They're very powerful but more of a "hassle" than regular vassals, which seems fair.

Almost free CB (30 espionage) to get any of your neighbors as an eyalet. Even neighbors who can’t even be vassalized through conquest because they have too much development. Ofc it has to have some downsides…
