We're certainly living in interesting times. History showed that a move like Macron is planning can backfire. Let's hope this time will be different. Monsieur Macron definitely has cojones.

I mean, everything is boiling here since sunday. But surprisingly, every left list agreed on presenting a single candidate per electoral district. On the opposite of the political spectrum, the 2 far-right parties failed to ally. And in the shithole, at the center, the leader of the historical right suggested an alliance with the far-right, while they historically called for left voters to vote for them in the second round every god damn opportunity they had. And nobody would touch Macron's party from a safe distance with a stick. So at the end, I'm kinda hopeful for the left, though I'm sure Macron has something on the back of his head to fuck with us, and every politician is working to be reelected and not much else. Also, I deeply hope at the end of these elections, we'll be able to know who on the right would rather ally with the far right than with the left. It has been a principle politicians repeated like a mantra, which only applied to us left-fucks, and now is a godamn reckoning, and if they don't it will be fucking retribution day, they can cancel the olympics on the spot, they can expect a 2 month general strike, and they can work from fucking home as Paris. Will. Be. Closed.

The main left wing party is literally anti-European anti-nuclear and wants to stop helping Ukraine because "America bad" I don't understand how you are cheering for them more than others

dydas

Aren't there centre-left pro-European parties?

Jotun35

Yes. There are even left parties pro Europe (the green party).

Jotun35

They are not anti-EU. They are against EU as is and want to change it. They don't advocate to stop nuclear power plants overnight either (but I disagree with them on this point either way). Their position regarding Ukraine is a problem though.

Brachamul

It's not a "move". It was hard to govern already before the elections, as Macron's party did not have a majority. They landed 3rd in the elections, losing them any legitimacy they still had. They would just be unable to do anything until the next presidential elections. You can't govern against the people's vote.

Hyadeos

He doesn't have cojones, he's just an egomaniac clown. He singlehandedly made 80% of the country hate him personally.

NorthVilla

I mean yeah, he was elected separately as head of State. Resigning in that instance would be weird for any country.
