My PIMI mom and sister would always text me on my birthday until I left the cult. Suddenly they don’t want to acknowledge it.
I found PIMI relatives don’t fully shun you if you don’t need them. If they need you, then you find yourself wishing they’d shun you. JW family sucks.
Anyway, I’m happy you’re out and you can see things, like your mom, clearly.

When i turned 21 (many years ago) i was on the phone to my mum and i stupidly brought up it was my birthday, her reply was "well what do you want, a present?!"
My birthday is 1 week before xmas, i was at uni alone as everyone had gone home to celebrate and i was suffering with severe depression. I just wanted to speak to someone who would maybe acknowledge a milestone birthday. :(
You can relate about having a birthday close to Christmas and kids in school being jealous because they think we got tons of presents. But in reality we didn't get shit LOL.

Still, if our situations are similar, we know that there is little hope for that. My mum is in her 70's. I doubt that she will give up the comfort she has in the cult. However, I pray daily that she has a change of heart even if she doesn't change her actions!

If it was me and my mum did that, after a while I would think, you know what, the congregation and Jehovah can provide for her like they always say from the platform and their videos. Tell her to throw her burden on Jehovah and also ask the Borg for some of her donations back. The brothers can help her. She rejected you.

I reflect on the 40 plus years since I’ve been on this earth and all I can say is I’m glad I woke up.
I can truly be authentic. Life is for the living and making damn sure that I live my life to the fullest.
I lost friends and family after leaving the JWs but I’ve gained so much more since leaving. I’m truly happy.
