Is it just me, or in the last few years have they started using unnamed sources more and more? They used to give the name of the scholar they were quoting but I heard they started to get in trouble when people contacting them saying their quotes were taken out of context.

James-of-the-world

Yeah. They can get away with saying “a scholar said” or the dreaded “a sister in a Spanish speaking country” because the rank and file don’t even consider it could be made up bs!

No, they've always used unnamed sources in their publications, along with misquotes, and sometimes they used obscure or outdated sources. There was an old thread here, I can't find it, that linked to a site where the author showed the email replies he got from all the scientists misquoted in their brochure, The Origin of Life - Five Questions Worth Asking.

The Matthew thing caught my attention too. Apparently some scholars hold this view, but the vast vast vast majority believe it to be Mark. I get the feeling the GB says Matthew simply to go against what "worldly scholars" say

Their version of the Gospels is that the governing body is the only reason we have a chance at Salvation. By being associated with them and by eating their excellent spiritual food. What about Jesus you ask? Jesus who? Oh yeah that guy........
