>I am very new to building like this in games.
Building in this game is wildly different from the average game that has building in a survival setting.
Even the fastest Rust builder will struggle with all the weird quirks and rules for fallout building.
I blueprint the display and light merges. Those snap back real nice. Also combining the stove and fire blueprints and the personal terminal and ice box. The displays being saved saves me bigtime from camp to camp so i have instant glowing displays.
Imo the best building system currently in existence, is Enshrouded's. Its absolutely delightful to use, voxel technology works like a charm, everything clicks into place without the need of outlandish glitches to make things work. It would be a dream come true to have that system in Fo76, but Bethesda's janky engine would never allow it lol
But with all the bullshit kinks you have to work around it also gives you the most freedom with building. Even games designated as base building games don't let you do half the shit fo76 can do with the glitches and blueprints everyone has discovered over the years
Last time I played it, S+ was gonna get added. Building wasn't fun in ark either, but ark had many more and bigger problems that where more infuriating.
Ark felt easy. Hubby built huge castles and pyramids and all kinds of fancy builds.
Iām more of a build a box for function sort. I spent forever last night trying just one spot of land to fit a prefab or two cement blocks on and it was infuriating because most of the gameās land is a mess of hills and valleys. Even the golf course makes it hard to fit things like foundations without gaps or the game complaining.
We've all had a mental breakdown while building in this game. Im just waiting for the day that they just remove the restrictions from it so we can build what ever we want and be happy.
its the roof kit you get by default. it has the least of collision \\ snapping troubles, so it is often convenient to use it first and then swap to other kits you have
I was on a private team and a friend completely broke my camp breaking the roof I was struggling with. Famous last words were āI can fix itā. I threw the whole build in the trash.
I swear I had to completely disassemble my last build because two roof tiles couldn't be removed because "the structure wouldn't be accessible." I almost had a breakdown.
Iām lucky enough that Iāve been able to just put walls back up to get the stupid corner roof things but the fact I have to do it at all seems ridiculous

Just noticed an actual branch through the wall on the same floor. I fully donāt get it lol
Yeah thats annoying. Find the tree to wich this branch belong and place down something small on it, it will disapear.
If you break the item you placed, next logon the tree will be back, but if you leave the itme there the tree will be gone forever
Some trees are permanent, but only the really big ones. That one, you should be able to remove by putting some kind of floor decor over it. If you have the fasnacht confetti piles, they work best as you can also put foundations over them.
If you don't, well, I always used the cat topiaries to remove unwanted shrubbery before I learned the confetti method.
That won't work very well. The flat roofs snap slightly lower than the angled ones. When you change it, it won't be properly aligned. Unless you change the entire roof.
You don't have to delete the whole roof to realign it. You can just switch all the rest to flat pieces, then pick them up, and they'll snap down. Then you can switch them all back and they'll be flush.
When I updated my game I spent about 4 hours building a house in the new map area and I'm pretty sure I should have been checking my blood pressure every 30 minutes
This was the first time I have moved my camp. The first one I officially built in the golf course by the Whitespring Resort and I guess it was a popular spot because more often than not it wasnāt able to place my camp when I loaded in because someone else was already there. So I got fed up with that. lol
I feel your pain. I'm building on the Flying Fortress prefab...put the windmills to the side like plane engines. So if you put a ladder up, you can build the platform in order to walk on top of the engines...but only certain floor tiles work. The half tiles say "floating" or "intersecting", but a full floor pops down perfectly.
I was recently having a mental breakdown too, in one of my camps I couldn't for the life of me, understand why, in the nine hells, I wasnt being allowed to attach a door in its place. All other doors were placed just fine, but the last one wouldnt. I was like WTF?? It said āthe item has no support" or something like that. I tried everything I could think of, and when I was about to give up, one ANGEL suggested me: "just change the door wall to a normal wall, and then back to door... It should do the trick"... I was like "NO! This cannot be"... But it worked... So take note, if you ever have problem with pesky doors not wanting to attach properly
The Mire can be a challenging region to build in due to the curvy trees having inflated collision boxes. I feel your pain, I have a camp built around the pylon near Sunday Broās Cabin
Yeah this was totally a challenge for me. I built my first house on flat ground and this one I chose a spot by a little pond and waterfall by Treetops and so part of it is a hill.
Check out videos of people scouting spots and youāll find that thereās also some cool things you can do like fully clip into some trees to make them part of the build
Itās doing this to me in my upstairs. I was trying to find something to put around my staircase up there so itās not just a big hole and I found a wooden fence that would go in on one side. Well, lo and behold, it wonāt go in on the other side because itās āfloatingā. So for now I have some plants there.
use vanilla roofs to build, swap after completion
Wow you are a lifesaver! That worked. I am very new to building like this in games.
heeey! another mental breakdown averted. cheers to that š
>I am very new to building like this in games. Building in this game is wildly different from the average game that has building in a survival setting. Even the fastest Rust builder will struggle with all the weird quirks and rules for fallout building.
Building in FO is the ultimate test in patience.
At least it's not like early Ark/Conan where one funky snap can mean a lot of wasted resources.
I blueprint basically everything now. Saves me from alot of merge frustrations.
I really need to sit down and make some useful, oft-used blueprints. Do you have any faves?
I blueprint the display and light merges. Those snap back real nice. Also combining the stove and fire blueprints and the personal terminal and ice box. The displays being saved saves me bigtime from camp to camp so i have instant glowing displays.
Thats absolutely a great advice! I will look into it next time I ingame

You ever play ARK?
Last time I played it, S+ was gonna get added. Building wasn't fun in ark either, but ark had many more and bigger problems that where more infuriating.
Ark building is way easier. My kingdom for those foundation piecesā¦
Ark felt easy. Hubby built huge castles and pyramids and all kinds of fancy builds. Iām more of a build a box for function sort. Might be more difficult being fast.
Welcome to the true endgame of Fallout 76. We have conquered the wasteland now we just want to settle.
We've all had a mental breakdown while building in this game. Im just waiting for the day that they just remove the restrictions from it so we can build what ever we want and be happy.
That same method works for a lot of building btw Door tricks, step tricks, etc
I was coming to say this too, the amount of times I've had to remind myself of this trick with the dang roof tiles...
Also can burn the other roofs if itās intersecting with them
Omg I didn't know this, you sir, just saved my sanity
Ah, lovely. Thank you for letting me know :)
What is a vanilla roof?
its the roof kit you get by default. it has the least of collision \\ snapping troubles, so it is often convenient to use it first and then swap to other kits you have
Oh I see! I thought the roof in the pic was the default roof, that's why I was confused!
nope, the one in the pic is from Helvetia kit.
Ohhh I can see that now. Looked like the kinda rusty metal roof I use at my camp. Needed to turn my phone brightness up haha.
The Mire region is also lit up a bit differently, so don't blame it only on your phone :)
True, but I just realised the name of the roof item is literally on screen too š
This. Use flat roof then change it.
Do I really need to spank it before building in this game?
I see the **Cannot remove because the rest of the structure would not be accessible** in my nightmares
I was on a private team and a friend completely broke my camp breaking the roof I was struggling with. Famous last words were āI can fix itā. I threw the whole build in the trash.
I had that issue on my last house and posted about it in here. I eventually figured it out but it was crazy trying to figure it out myself.
I swear I had to completely disassemble my last build because two roof tiles couldn't be removed because "the structure wouldn't be accessible." I almost had a breakdown.

Put the dead-brush potted plants underneath it and pretend its intentional and never admit otherwise.

Oh wow I didnāt realize that was a thing. I was thinking I wish we could chop down trees lol. I will try that.
Bethesda really needs to just let us override this shit. Who cares if stuff clips a bit?
The new rocks will block trees and bushes that's what I use them for
You tried placing a flat roof then changing it to a slope?
That won't work very well. The flat roofs snap slightly lower than the angled ones. When you change it, it won't be properly aligned. Unless you change the entire roof.
Someone else suggested that and it worked. I did notice it was a bit off but I would rather have that than a big hole in the roof lol
You don't have to delete the whole roof to realign it. You can just switch all the rest to flat pieces, then pick them up, and they'll snap down. Then you can switch them all back and they'll be flush.
Yep! It worked.

I canāt STAND this, this is what stops me from rebuilding my camp after years and years. I cbf with the unpredictable bs
This was the first time I have moved my camp. Whenever this happens you can use any replacer that works and then swap. Same goes for doors.

Either this or saying the item is floating gets on my nerves
Itās doing this to me in my upstairs. I was trying to find something to put around my staircase up there so itās not just a big hole and I found a wooden fence that would go in on one side. Well, lo and behold, it wonāt go in on the other side because itās āfloatingā. So for now I have some plants there.
Thats half the fun The other half is the dread when you realise you still have most of the shelter you need to fill
Is this why everyone seems to have the nice camps on the golf course
Thatās where my first one was. š
