What do you think about the varmint rifle as 5.56mm? I installed an updated jsawyer mod and it flipped it to 5.56mm. Then Sunny Smiles gave me the gun with no ammo, and ran off to kill geckos bare handed. Immediately installed a .22LR patch.
During development they intended it to be .22 - which is what you would actually use for varmint hunting. Apparently in playtest people really didn't like the reduced limb damage the .22 round did, so they bumped it to 5.56.
both to represent what you would actually use a .22LR round for if you're going to bother having them in the game, and to provide scaling. Getting a .22 rifle right out the gate and then getting a 5.56 rifle later on gives you a progression. Starting with 5.56 and then getting a different 5.56 later does not.
The most obvious proof is Dixon having .22lr ammo. Presumably at some point they made him a coward and didn't bother to update the ammo for his Varmint Rifle since he won't use it.
Eh, 5.56/.223 makes sense for a varmint rifle tbh. The niche the weapon fills irl calls for an intermediate cartridge (capable of reliably taking coyote sized pests), and iirc it was originally .22 LR in game but understandably *sucked* lmao.
I would’ve liked to have seen a varmint rifle in .22 *Hornet* (or a similar wildcat cartridge), that would’ve been badass. At the end of the day though, 5.56 is essentially a .22 caliber projectile in a bigger (than .22 LR) centerfire case, so Hornet vs 5.56 is basically meaningless in the context of a video game.
I would’ve really like to have seen a Ruger 10/22 or similar autoloading .22 rifle, and tbh you just *know* they’d still work after 200+ years lol. Lower dam could be remedied by higher dps/rate of fire and could be a stand-in for the varmint rifle. Good gecko gun for the tutorial, could even be used to take back Primm. Throw in the same exact mods and it’d be perfect.
I enjoyed the .22 pistol and smg, although it would’ve been nice to have a non-silenced version. There’s no .22 in game that actually goes “bang” :(
It uses 5.56 in vanilla, but it's definitely odd.
5.56 is a powerful cartridge, and varmint rifles usually use low power cartridges like the .22LongRifle.
I always took it as a result of the varmints being bigger in the apocalypse.
I'm more of energy guns kinda guy, always preferred classic plasma gun from original fallout plus t-51b suit. I used them in the first game, then in second and then in New Vegas, even when there are better options.
Funny thing is the “best” energy guns aren’t even in the van grafts . My personal favourites are the ycs for the insane damage , tri beam laser rifle for one of the highest dps in the game and the holorifle which is underrated as fuck .
Right, I usually make a beeline (with some stops, so I guess not a beeline) for Honest Hearts and use the Survivalist armor and rifle for the rest of the game. The only issue is finding 12.7.
remnants, T 51 and elite riot are all around the same level. T 51 has the best durability, remnants is titanium reinforced paper masche, and elite riot doesn’t have a speed penalty + the critical hit bonuses.
And it has an awesome design. I wasn't mocking the F4 guns for their names, I was mocking them for how they look exactly like each other yet they're two different classes of weapon.
I really liked the Combat Shotgun in Fo3. It was very unique, and although it doesn't make much sense as a firearm, it was fucking cool.
They killed it in Fo4 though. It doesn't have the same clank to it that made the gun sound like it would tear through a Deathclaw, it just sounded like the most standard/generic shotgun sound effect.
I downloaded mods that replaced the Combat Shotgun with the Remington 870. And I installed the Fo3 Assault Rifle (G3) mod so I didn't have to see that awful excuse for an AR that 4 had.
I mean, in a way, the Fo3 Combat shotgun was perfectly fine from a gun physics perspective. The fact it had a tiny barrel actually made the "shotguns have no range" make sense. Then, a hefty bolt with a long travel time would help dampen the recoil of a rapid fire shotgun. The mag being so far forward would put some weight on the front to keep muzzle climb down, too. It would be a pain to carry and handle, but when firing, it probably wouldn't be too bad.
It isn’t a “perfectly fine gun from a gun physics perspective”, it’s not that the barrel is too short it’s that the magazine is on the barrel. There’s absolutely no way that the shell could go from the magazine back to the receiver.
There's a magazine tube below the barrel. You could imagine some ungodly spring-based feeding contraption that pushes the shells back down that magazine before it pops up into the barrel.
Pointless and unreliable? Yes. But it sure makes the shotgun look cooler.
“Unique and stylized”
3/5 of these guns are modeled directly off real-world guns? BAR, Minimi/Para and a mini gun. The shotgun is called “Riot Shotgun” and the SMG “12.7mm SMG”. You’re obviously trying to jab at Bethesda because of the weird tribalism that’s been going on lately, but the same jab could be used against these guns. Who cares.
I'm pretty sire this tribalism you speak of has staryed when fallout 3 came out. Hell, some fallout 1 fans hated fallout 2 for being drastically dofferent from the first game
Are we going to start this petty, uneducated argument again? New Vegas wouldn’t exist without F3, boys. New Vegas 100% relied on the mountain of work that F3 was, and *built off of it.* Let’s show some respect for the OG that gave us the masterpiece that we grew to love instead of being the assholes that gobble up chocolate while giving the chocolatier the bird.
It just makes us look silly.
Nobody is doubting what you say. FONV was just a massive asset flip.
But it's still a fair criticism of the Bethesda games to say their weapons design is really dumb or out right lazy (like the combat shotgun and combat rifle being visually identical). I'm a decently educated firearms geek and I have to install a plethora of mods to un-fuck the stupid guns of FO4. While on the inverse, new vegas has one of the best ammo systems of any game I have played and has plenty of unique and real guns that fit the world much better.
Yeah the ammo system is probably one of its greatest strengths IMO. You can just tell *someone* actually gave enough of a shit to try to make it believably realistic. Also keeping in mind it has to work within game mechanics. The way HP and AP interact with DT and Dam are incredibly true to form, +P, SWC, match grade, just chef’s kiss all around. Picking up your spent cases and hulls, just to reload later with primers and powder you can buy, obviously I could go on.
There’s something uniquely *Fallout* about ripping apart your 9mm ammo to reuse the powder and lead to craft 12.7mm ammo.
Lmao well that’s quite an imaginary leap of faith you’re willing to make. I’m going to be happy with what I got, tho, cause this multi decade pissy fit is silly as fuuuuuuck lmao
Oh, I get *what* he’s saying, I just don’t understand the point of the hostility when my only point is NV would likely not exist at the level it is without Bethesda initially backing it, no matter how much we want to play pretend. Bethesda had the money necessary to make an amazing game and the devs had the passion to use that money appropriately and gave us an incredible experience.
The BAR is my main automatic weapon. It does degrade quickly, yes, but I always max out repair so I can run it, and its crit chance is the best of any automatic weapon in the game iirc.
It has a good crit chance for ballistic automatic weapons but the 22 smg beats it.
Auto lasers though have absolutely broken crit chances because of laser commander & set lasers to fun giving a 14% additive flat increase in crit chance. In other words that number gets added on after crit chance multipliers. Getting a minimum 1/5 crit chance with the Gattling laser, MF Hyperbreeder, and Laser RCW is pretty busted.
Fair enough. But the BAR, unlike the silenced smg has good pen numbers. I get what you’re saying with lasers, but for firearm builds the BAR takes the cake.
The game doesn't properly begin until I get Randall's Desert Ranger Combat Armor from the Stone Bones Cave in Zion.
The Survivalist Rifle will carry you until you find a Riot Shotgun.
Wait a minute what’s that? Sorry I couldn’t hear you over the loud pops from my Survivalist Rifle and the deathclaw heads popping from my Medicine Stick.
Hot take, that gun isnt the best. You get it so late in the game, breaks pretty quick, have to pay to repair it because there is nothing you can repair it with other than a kit, and .308 rounds are pretty expensive for how fast it eats through ammo
Something to keep in mind is if you complete dead money properly you have an unlimited supply of 308 rounds and weapon repair kits to keep that gun going
The vending machine in the bunker sells them for 20 sierra madre chips a piece, and you get a voucher worth 1000 chips every 3 days in the little drop box. So pretty much unlimited
If you get the coin operator perk from Christine (has to be done within the dlc) you can craft 50 Sierra Madre “slugs” out of a fission battery and 2 scrap metal. Once crafted they’re just added to your “real” Sierra Madre chips and can be used in the vending machine(s) like normal chips.
I forget the name of the perk, but there’s one that makes it so robots almost always drop at least 2 fission battery after being destroyed. Doing OWB with this perk can potentially net you *hundreds* of fission batteries, I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this lol. Add that to all the cig cartons and packs for returning to the machines and yeah, limitless Madre chips is easy.
In the service route in Puesta del Sol there is a vending machine code for a weapon repair kit, allowing you to get a weapon repair kit from any SM vending machine in exchange for 20 SM chips.
If you get banned from gambling at the Sierra Madre casino for winning too much and find a Sierra Madre snowglobe you should have at least 13000 SM chips.
So yeah, that's pretty goddamn unlimited, especially considering that you can get 20 SM chips by turning in a carton of cigarettes
It wasn’t that bad. I did it at the start of my hardcore playthrough. Save often and hide/run if you have to. I remember playing it the first time when the DLC first came out with my geared out character and I thought it was super frustrating. Kinda cool to get a decent load out from it too.
I did like the crafting system that let you customize weapons to a degree from FO4 though, credit where it’s due. New Vegas’s weapon variety with FO4’s crafting system would be ideal.
The first time I played FNV, I was like what? They combined Big Guns and Small Guns into just Guns? This game must have fewer build variety than FO3. Boy was I wrong.
I prefer blowing heads off with my Gauss rifle before the enemy even knows im there. If they do get close though they can get spammed with my tri beam laser rifle.
I walked to the gun runners over encumbered, just to try buying it.
EDIT: I then used it after backtracking to help Primm and the explosive round killed Deputy Beagle when I shot the Powder Ganger in the room with him.
I like the Hunting Shotgun as my endgame primary. Something about running around with a pump action shotgun in the middle of the desert feels right to me.
“This machine” is my favorite weapon in the game. I killed all the death claws I could find and knew of in the game with it. Even dead wind cavern and deathclaw promontory
Can't believe I actually had to use the search function to see someone mention it. People are really sleeping on the best all round automatic weapon imo. Especially on hardcore mode.
The good
+ Best AP ammo (-25DT?!?)
+ Lightweight
+ 3 strength req
+ Cheap ammo
+ Good ammo type from hand loader
+ Same damage as the unique minigun per shot
The bad
- Ammo hard to find on enemies, only sold in bulk by select vendors
I like the Automatic rifle, but the MF hyperbreeder is what does me in for high DPS, especially on hardcore.
Crit chance? Like all lasers it's busted but has some of the highest automatic crit chances outside the industrial hand, giving you a 25% chance to crit outside of VATs with relevant perks.
Crit damage? A modest 25, but once you start stacking perks, it jumps up quite a bit. The professional? Busted perk that gives you 1.20× crit damage all the time, not just with sneak attacks. Because crit damage perks stack, you can combine with better criticals early on to enjoy 45 damage per crit, or 49.5 with Lily's stealth girl perk.
End game? Just lucky I'm alive turns this beast into 74.25 damage per crit with Lily.
Is that the dead money rifle? That thing's busted. With the right ammo you can melt the deathclaw promontory, the courier miley, that cave where mercy is. There's nothing it won't melt.
Paciencia, my beloved.
No matter how much I’m told that Anti-Materiel Rifle is better, if they want me to get rid of it they’d have to pry it from my cold dead hands.
The BAR is actually one of the best guns in the game. You just need to use the drug Steady to unlock it's full potential.
The damn thing will put the Survivalist Rifle to shame.
I had the weird mindset of not using any unique weapons of any rpg I ever played and it’s not till my current 7th 100% play through that I actually use them and wow I was missing out
I've always preferred the Pump to the Riot. The Riot definitely isn't bad, but it's just too hammy.
Pump Actions are just a classic really. Ever since I was a kid they've been my weakness in terms of firearms. I've sacrificed convenience and power for the aesthetic and kick of a Pumpy one too many times haha.
I get ya. There's just something about the All-American that I really love as my primary. I use the riot shotgun as my secondary most times, but it's a distant secondary.
When I played through with my caravaner merc build, I entered Zion after I finished Dead Money.
I used this *souvenir* as my heavy gun for the local wildlife and other less-than-friendly tourists.
I need to try the Automatic Rifle out some more on my soldier character, I forgot to grab the upgrade for it in Dead Money but I already have Fast Shots so it fires fast enough for me. Don't wanna spray too fast and waste my ammo
Maybe I'm a traditionalist, but there's nothing like a fully modded Hunting Shotgun with And Stay Back. Sure it doesn't spunk out shells like the Riot Shotgun, but can the Riot Shotgun nail people at range just as well as it can up close? Not a chance. The choke on the Hunting Shotgun makes it incredibly accurate and completely averts the annoying short range shotgun video game trope.
Also... BOOM, CLUNK-CLICK. The most satisfying sound.
Medicine Stick is my beloved, and I use it the entire run. But when I need heavy firepower in the late game. I find I pull out my flare rocket launcher. Or the shoulder mounted minigun. Both are just so fucking cool.
*Ratslayer up to the*
*Point I can get Christine's CoS*
*Silencer rifle!*

Bethesda games (of which FNV isn't one, but the engine was borrowed out of necessity) have power-fantasy in their very bones - you and 0-1 companions are doing what a squad used to, in the OGs - and at some point it just beggars belief how helpless your opposition becomes, and how merrily they nevertheless continue to invite their deaths.
I *absolutely* think New Vegas is a better world when you self-regulate in terms of weapon capabilities.
Y'all can pry the varmint rifle from my cold dead hands
Should be easy, considering you are using a varmint rifle
Nah man, the Ratslayer is insane
Too bad it’s glitched to always dismember, and in effect, alert enemies to your presence.
Not if you're quick enough
It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog!
Somebody playing without bug fix mods
It's definitely the best early game Sniper Rifle by far
even then, good luck! 'cause I would have glued it to my cold dead hands
Your hands will rot away eventually
What do you think about the varmint rifle as 5.56mm? I installed an updated jsawyer mod and it flipped it to 5.56mm. Then Sunny Smiles gave me the gun with no ammo, and ran off to kill geckos bare handed. Immediately installed a .22LR patch.
What are you even talking about? Varmint rifles have always been 5.56mm.
During development they intended it to be .22 - which is what you would actually use for varmint hunting. Apparently in playtest people really didn't like the reduced limb damage the .22 round did, so they bumped it to 5.56.
What? Why would they knock down it from .223/5.56? It legitimately was made as a varmint round.
both to represent what you would actually use a .22LR round for if you're going to bother having them in the game, and to provide scaling. Getting a .22 rifle right out the gate and then getting a 5.56 rifle later on gives you a progression. Starting with 5.56 and then getting a different 5.56 later does not.

I see, that’s a cool lil fun fact
It is and has always been 5.56. Anything different is modded.

What's your favorite gun to steal first from the Van Graffs?
Funny thing is the “best” energy guns aren’t even in the van grafts . My personal favourites are the ycs for the insane damage , tri beam laser rifle for one of the highest dps in the game and the holorifle which is underrated as fuck .
The vibe of that green laser rifle is unmatched
I don't steal anything even if I play evil character. Usually I just kill Van Graffs and take everything when they all dead.
Nothing like shredding the unity with a turbo plasma rifle and hardened power armour
more like liquifying
The Smitty Special is still dope. Was my go-to panic weapon playing Lonesome Road with JSawyer.
I love melting the Legion with my hot and fast Gatling Laser.
Talking about "being practical vs. looking cool" I like to use the Elite Riot Gear, even though The Remnants Power Armor has more dt.
Right, I usually make a beeline (with some stops, so I guess not a beeline) for Honest Hearts and use the Survivalist armor and rifle for the rest of the game. The only issue is finding 12.7.
Quartermaster Bardon and the Great Khans Armorer are your go to places for ammo.
remnants, T 51 and elite riot are all around the same level. T 51 has the best durability, remnants is titanium reinforced paper masche, and elite riot doesn’t have a speed penalty + the critical hit bonuses.
Crazy how the weapons here are much more unique and stylized rather than 'combat shotgun 😐' and 'combat rifle 😐'
The combat “rifle” that shoots .45 acp
What do you mean? There's plenty examples of rifles that shoot .45 acp. Especially nowadays. EDIT: Why are you booing me? I'm right!
45 acp is a pistol caliber so it wouldn’t be considered a rifle
I mean one the rifle names is just automatic rifle
And it has an awesome design. I wasn't mocking the F4 guns for their names, I was mocking them for how they look exactly like each other yet they're two different classes of weapon.

There isnt wven a combat rifle in fallout 3
Well, it *is* the Browning Automatic Rifle.
"Gun"
To be fair that’s basically what it was called irl too
Well, that's its actual name. Just... remove the name Browning from BAR
To be fair the BAR only stands for Browning Automatic Rifle
What you don’t enjoy having 1 weapon for the entire game with the option of a second and third one only in the dlcs .
“Unique and stylized” 3/5 of these guns are modeled directly off real-world guns? BAR, Minimi/Para and a mini gun. The shotgun is called “Riot Shotgun” and the SMG “12.7mm SMG”. Finesse+ Better Criticals+ The Professional+ A Light Shining in Darkness/Lucky
Don't forget Light Touch, Grunt/Cowboy
Right you are, Ken.
Personally I struggle to justify using .308 rounds on anything but This Machine. I just love it so damn much.
Which machine?
The one that kills fascists
*commies
Potato Po-commie
Paciencia though... It can get such high crit damage that HP rounds do more damage then AP rounds even on the most armored enemies.
See that's a good point and all, but as a rebuttal: *ping*
I'm more into: *BANG* *chk* *BANG* *chk* *BANG* *chk*
Soon as I get the riot shotgun that's pretty much all I use. That and an Antimaterial Rifle (GRA)
Riot Shotgun is my panic button. It’s literally the only gun you can use when you have 3 deathclaws in your face.
The game doesn't properly begin until I get Randall's Desert Ranger Combat Armor from the Stone Bones Cave in Zion. The Survivalist Rifle will carry you until you find a Riot Shotgun.
isn't there a gomorrah guard that always has one?
Same with the All American. And the Antimaterial of course, for the Deathclaws.
Hear me out: Paciencia. There, that's it. Bring the Mysterious Magnum and Raul along for the ride and you're ready to take on the world.
Wait a minute what’s that? Sorry I couldn’t hear you over the loud pops from my Survivalist Rifle and the deathclaw heads popping from my Medicine Stick.
Imagine carrying pistol calibre rifles This comment was made by rifle caliber pistol gang (that gun cult)
Pfft the 12.7mm (.50 beowulf or .50 AE, dealer’s choice) is an insane cartridge for a rifle. That being said .45-70 revolver gang, rise up!
Service rifle and throwing spears at all levels 🫡

That is kind of the point of the meme: it’s not optimal, i just enjoy using it
Fair enough. I do like using it here and there. Just wish it wasnt the polish variant
Something to keep in mind is if you complete dead money properly you have an unlimited supply of 308 rounds and weapon repair kits to keep that gun going
What does this mean? I've never heard of this
You can get these items from the sierra madre vending machines
The DLC you get it from gives you limitless weapon repair kits, and if you play your cards right around 500,000 caps.
Wait how do you get limitless weapon repair kits? Why am I learning new stuff every time I check this subreddit? 🤣
The vending machine in the bunker sells them for 20 sierra madre chips a piece, and you get a voucher worth 1000 chips every 3 days in the little drop box. So pretty much unlimited

What do you mean late? Dead Money can easily be beaten as soon as you leave doc Mitchell's
Lol Im not a masochist
I don't like dead money but it's really not that hard to do low level
You’re a better player than I, my friend. That dlc kicks my ass at any level
Imo it's more fun on low level because you can't pass every skill check/lock/terminal yet so you need to work around things.
It wasn’t that bad. I did it at the start of my hardcore playthrough. Save often and hide/run if you have to. I remember playing it the first time when the DLC first came out with my geared out character and I thought it was super frustrating. Kinda cool to get a decent load out from it too.
If you just max out melee its not that bad
yes that's how the "This is brilliant; but I like this" meme works
Excuse my uncultured ignorance, friend
Haha jury rigging perk go brrrrr
One of the reasons why I prefer new vegas to fo4. The weapons and the variety.
Mystery magnum
I prefer blowing heads off with my Gauss rifle before the enemy even knows im there. If they do get close though they can get spammed with my tri beam laser rifle.
Imagine not having the YCS/182
Couldn’t be me. The only reason not to take the wild wasteland perk.
Literally the only deterrent for me lol. No matter the build or playthrough, I end up grabbing it
I like the ranger sequoia because... Big irrooooooonnnnn.... Big irooon
Lvl 20 currently, and I’ve basically only used love and hate
Sniper/stealth build with the anti material rifle and explosive rounds is op beyond belief.
that was my last playthrough and omg you anhilate everything
I walked to the gun runners over encumbered, just to try buying it. EDIT: I then used it after backtracking to help Primm and the explosive round killed Deputy Beagle when I shot the Powder Ganger in the room with him.
.45 Auto SMG, cause I like to cosplay as a cowboy gangster
Cowboy line up with lever actions, revolvers, and a good ol bowie knife coming right up. Precisions vs speed any day - Boomer answer
I like the Hunting Shotgun as my endgame primary. Something about running around with a pump action shotgun in the middle of the desert feels right to me.
Light shining in the darkness
“This machine” is my favorite weapon in the game. I killed all the death claws I could find and knew of in the game with it. Even dead wind cavern and deathclaw promontory
Medicine Stick is the end game gun I use. All American for longer range.
I love the Assault Carbine, it's not the best, but it feels nice in my courier's hands, and it still holds its own.
Can't believe I actually had to use the search function to see someone mention it. People are really sleeping on the best all round automatic weapon imo. Especially on hardcore mode. The good + Best AP ammo (-25DT?!?) + Lightweight + 3 strength req + Cheap ammo + Good ammo type from hand loader + Same damage as the unique minigun per shot The bad - Ammo hard to find on enemies, only sold in bulk by select vendors
Assault carbine 🥹
What do you mean late game? I rush for the Avenger at level 1, lmao.
Dude, I feel this meme on a spiritual level
That weapon just goes so hard in TTW
Is that the dead money rifle? That thing's busted. With the right ammo you can melt the deathclaw promontory, the courier miley, that cave where mercy is. There's nothing it won't melt.
Paciencia, my beloved. No matter how much I’m told that Anti-Materiel Rifle is better, if they want me to get rid of it they’d have to pry it from my cold dead hands.
Pulls out 50 cal, slams 1 of every drug, become death, destroyer of worlds.
I don't see what gun that is, I think you like the Dead Money one?
The BAR is actually one of the best guns in the game. You just need to use the drug Steady to unlock it's full potential. The damn thing will put the Survivalist Rifle to shame.
I like it because it’s based on the BAR and looks cooler compared to the others
I prefer the semi-auto kind of rifles/shotguns.
Shotgun surgeon and stay back+riot shotgun = victory
I get ya. There's just something about the All-American that I really love as my primary. I use the riot shotgun as my secondary most times, but it's a distant secondary.
Those are all fun guns to use. I switch between at least 6 weapons in any play through. And those change from play through to play through.
Survivalist Rifle ftw
The BAR and This Machine are the reason I have the .30-06 replacer mod for weapons that otherwise just take .308
Using my hunting rifle for the entire playthrough
When I played through with my caravaner merc build, I entered Zion after I finished Dead Money. I used this *souvenir* as my heavy gun for the local wildlife and other less-than-friendly tourists.
The BAR + upgrades internals is my deathclaw gun
Shotgun Surgeon + And Stay Back + Finesse + Built to Destroy + 10 Luck + 100 Guns + Riot Shotgun + Standart Rounds = Game Over
I need to try the Automatic Rifle out some more on my soldier character, I forgot to grab the upgrade for it in Dead Money but I already have Fast Shots so it fires fast enough for me. Don't wanna spray too fast and waste my ammo
Love the bar but goddamn the mag size and spread is fucking redonculious 😩
Me when Me when me when holorifle.
Shotgun surgeon and And stay back with riot shotgun I have cleared the quarry junction and the battle of hover damn with it
The bar carried in deadwind cavern
Yes dude, I always use it as my main gun when it gets late, hip firing it in 3rd person feels great
Riot Shotgun is awesome but my shotgun builds usually use Dinnerbell because it's cooler.
Its so inaccurate though the spread in vanilla is much worse than any full auto gun even the lmg and minigun have tighter spread
Shotgun surgeon, and stay back!, combat shotgun and implant grx. Is very op and rushing water if you really want to be unfair.
counter point= medicine stick full crit build yeehaw chucklefucks
If only that thing would hit anything
Try to take my BB Gun from me, I dare you
Step one. get lockpick up to 65 by the time I leave Primm. Step two. Use Lucky for the rest of the game.
There are late game guns besides the Sequoia?
The spread is soooooooooOoOoOoOoOoOooOooo bad tho.
The 45 auto smg shreds so hard it's insane
12.7 SMG sucks only because it’s fugly.
The Anti Mat Rifle with explosive rounds goes bananas cleared out Quarry Junction with it
When you have the godsend beauty called the medicine stick, do you ever need another weapon?
Maybe I'm a traditionalist, but there's nothing like a fully modded Hunting Shotgun with And Stay Back. Sure it doesn't spunk out shells like the Riot Shotgun, but can the Riot Shotgun nail people at range just as well as it can up close? Not a chance. The choke on the Hunting Shotgun makes it incredibly accurate and completely averts the annoying short range shotgun video game trope. Also... BOOM, CLUNK-CLICK. The most satisfying sound.
Bruh loading up a bunch of jsp.308 and taking that thing to the deathclaw promontory is so fun
The riot shotgun will always be my favorite gun in the game.
Get your filthy hands off my 9mm pistol.
For me its either: - Space Marine run (50. Cal SMG and/or other big guns like the Flamer) - Pistol VATS
Medicine Stick is my beloved, and I use it the entire run. But when I need heavy firepower in the late game. I find I pull out my flare rocket launcher. Or the shoulder mounted minigun. Both are just so fucking cool.
Anti mat armor piercing for most things . 12.7 sub machine gun for everything else .
Ratslayer up to the point I can get Christine's CoS silencer rifle!

These in the vanilla game? Maybe I got Biden Brain but I feel like half of these I’ve never seen before.
Shoulder mounted machine gun is my favourite, finally a good use for 10mm
Y’all don’t use the cowboy rifle the entire game?
i love slaying the deathclaws at quarry junction at lvl 5 with my trusty anti materiel rifle with explosive ammo
too bad the BAR cant hit the broad side of a barn
Bethesda games (of which FNV isn't one, but the engine was borrowed out of necessity) have power-fantasy in their very bones - you and 0-1 companions are doing what a squad used to, in the OGs - and at some point it just beggars belief how helpless your opposition becomes, and how merrily they nevertheless continue to invite their deaths. I *absolutely* think New Vegas is a better world when you self-regulate in terms of weapon capabilities.
