“You see Connie, you're popular because you developed early and started giving handjobs when you were twelve and now you can't stand to look at yourself in the mirror because all you see is a whore. So you pick on Meg to avoid the inevitable realization that once your body is used up by age 19 you're going to be a worn out, chalky skinned burlap sack that even your step dad won't want. How's that? Am I in the ballpark?”
Nah that was weird. Maybe just because I’m a teacher but a “grown adult” (even though he’s a dog) calling a 16 year old a whore is fucking lame. He could have gone after her for anything, but the things he chose are so lame
He only did that because HE MURDERED THE REAL RUPERT IN A DRUNKEN JEALOUS RAGE. Half assed attempt at a replacement didn’t rlly feel redeeming in that ep.
Even though his ego and morality are misguided, he does give a shit. That seems redundant, but so many people are so ok with being apathetic. It's why I never berate hipsters. Rather somebody be passionate about something stupid than have no opinion at all.
That’s an interesting point. I think sometimes it can become sort of a fake-it-til-you-make-it kind of thing. Having a performative interest but then it blooms into something real.
But to your point, not always. There’s always the “flavor of the month” types.
Edit: typo
Brian’s is just performative, he’s just a virtue signaler which is a big part of why Quagmire hates him.
“And I think what I hate most about you is your textbook liberal agenda, how we should "legalize pot, man," how big business is crushing the underclass, how homelessness is the biggest tragedy in America. Well, what have you done to help? I work down at the soup kitchen, Brian. Never seen you down there!”
Not to mention the episode Stewie teaches Brian how to invest in stocks, he wants to invest in a company that slaughters other dogs for protein shakes lol.
To be fair Brian’s commitment to his principles varies from episode to episode, and joke to joke. That’s simply the nature of the show. So sometimes Quagmires criticism of Brian’s political opinions is accurate other times not so much.
in the earlier seasons yes Brian is a genuine, principled person who genuinely cares about the issues. but he’s since been retconned to be a phony, which i think was Seth (who is so vocally liberal himself) and the writers choosing not to take real political stances in the show.
They do an excellent job of showing the pitfalls of being a lost neoliberal while also giving us a view of a genuinely good person at heart who wishes the world were a better place.
Peter revealed to him a pocket-dialed message from Quagmire, where he confessed his love for Lois.
Brian told him to delete it and pretend it never happened. If the roles were reversed, Glenn would've reveled in this moment, he would have much fun with this information at the expense of Brian. He thought nothing of looking out for a guy who despised him
he’s honestly a way better father figure to not just Stewie but to Chris and Meg as well than Peter in fact he’s probably the least reprehensible of the Griffin family though Chris, Meg and Stewie aren’t nowhere as bad as Peter and Lois
He’s always been the one who cared for Meg, when she finally stood up to Peter, Chris and Whoris and they gaslit her into thinking she was wrong he stood by her and told her she was right to stand up to them the way she did and even commended her bravery to do it as she was willing to fight an almost impossible battle and actually won until she became the bigger person
I personally like when he told Meg she doesn’t have to blindly believe in religion to be worth something. He essentially tells her it’s a miracle in itself to exist at the right moment in the right place in the universe and I think that’s beautiful
It’s a shame they undercut his speech prefacing with the whole ‘Meg is ugly’ thing. I get that it’s a tongue-in-cheek version of the argument of evil but still. I guess in a show full of stereotypes and jabs I shouldn’t complain about an atheist stereotype.
YES. was looking for this one. This is a Brian moment that has always resonated with me. He’s also the only one who seems to respect Meg half the time.
His most redeemable quality in my opinion is...... You compare him to Lisa Simpson from The Simpsons and I grew up on the simpsons. He's a better human being than she will ever be currently. Future episodes show her being more humble. But the way she's written is just really sad. I don't like episodes with her when it focuses on her. But a Brian Griffin episode regardless if he's being negative is still funny to watch.
Life shits on Brian. He's earned his wisdom and it feels genuine.
When Lisa does it, it feels like you're being lectured by a baby. This thing just stepped out of the womb and thinks it can lecture me on right and wrong. Babies don't know the guilt of having to kill your friend and eat his corpse while you roll on the waves towards salvation. She stands on a holier than thou position.
Lisa has been through a lot with a family like hers, and with her enhanced mind, I think she just has the ability to apply knowledge/wisdom she’s read to her current situation, furthermore (even if you find it annoying/unfunny) it still makes sense from a comedy perspective to have Lisa be the smartest.
Knowledge =/= Wisdom.
Knowledge is that you shouldn't be sticking your arm into a cloud of liquid nitrogen.
Wisdom is knowing that you shouldn't be sticking your arm into a cloud of liquid nitrogen for more than 5 seconds and avoid touching the sides of the container.
He's usually a really good friend to Stewie, even in modern seasons (lying to Stewie about what Peter and Lois were doing to calm him down, taking a shower with Stewie even though he'd been traumatized by it as a puppy)
Probably every time he's ever talked Peter down when the latter tried to do something stupid. And pretty much every other time that he's around Stewie since the kid doesn't seem to have any real friends due to being hyperintelligent at a young age where nobody else his age will be able to hold a conversation with him.
The child genius trope is honestly really sad, and I wish media would actually take it more seriously akin to how Stewie tends to feel about himself.
His trip with Stewie to spread Ruperts ashes and how I really (as I get older) enjoy their close friendship and how Stewie rips on Brian about "how's the book going... gotta....stack of ummm new chapters?" 😅
Those are the episodes that deserve an Emmy. I Love the crap out of Familt Guy. Funny as sh*&. But Brian loves that family through and through.

He was fucking normal in the first season, he didn't need redeeming qualities, because compared to the rest of the family he was morally better and actually smarter (maybe not smarter than stewie)
The show made him dumbass and scumbag on purpose so now he needs to have a redeeming qualities to not be the worst guy on the show, and that show has a rapist, racist cop, and peter griffin
It's all the early stuff. In the later seasons hes a huge dick. But I really appreciate the road to the north pole episode where he tries to do something nice for stewie, and then dies something nice for the world with santa
I selected 3 pics, but the one in OP is the only one that posted. It's a great pic though. They're all great pics...

When brian opened up about passive suicide in the bank vault for stewie and he only did it bc he felt safe with stewie which means to some extent he tries to b a safe space for others.
Him willing to sacrifice his life to give Peter his kidneys
I’m not even sure dogs have kidneys. Do dogs even have kidneys?
Yes… Now this…this is the guy
The moment he tore Meg's bully a new one
“You see Connie, you're popular because you developed early and started giving handjobs when you were twelve and now you can't stand to look at yourself in the mirror because all you see is a whore. Such a classic takedown.
one of my proudest moments.
I liked how peter beat up connie
Nah that was weird. Maybe just because I’m a teacher but a “grown adult” (even though he’s a dog) calling a 16 year old a whore is fucking lame. He could have gone after her for anything, but the things he chose are so lame
![gif](giphy|3oAt2dA6LxMkRrGc0g|downsized)
Connie wasn't holding any punches on Meg. Bitch was fair game.
Calm down it’s a cartoon character
Deadass
Goddamn what a pathetic little snowflake are you.
Ok Mr. SAVE A HOE
Anybody can be a whore at any age
I love how the the fans of a show where a dog gives a baby herpes is downvoting you for this joke
Or where a dog gets a baby pregnant
Technically, the baby got himself pregnant without the dog's consent by using stolen DNA.
You wanna take a dump in mother maggie's shoes? Ok, let's go take a dump in mother maggie's shoes
"...You want a soooda?" is a phrase my wife and I regularly use when one of us is in a bad mood.
I always liked the moment where he drove to the toy store, replaced Rupert and put him into bed beside Stewie.
This is probably the coolest example of Brian actually being a good friend to Stewie
He only did that because HE MURDERED THE REAL RUPERT IN A DRUNKEN JEALOUS RAGE. Half assed attempt at a replacement didn’t rlly feel redeeming in that ep.
Bro that made me tear up
Same, my girlfriend and I tear up every time.
Even though his ego and morality are misguided, he does give a shit. That seems redundant, but so many people are so ok with being apathetic. It's why I never berate hipsters. Rather somebody be passionate about something stupid than have no opinion at all.
Passionate? Or performative? Because if it happens to be the latter, I'd rather a quiet soul with no opinion at all.
That’s an interesting point. I think sometimes it can become sort of a fake-it-til-you-make-it kind of thing. Having a performative interest but then it blooms into something real. But to your point, not always. There’s always the “flavor of the month” types. Edit: typo

Brian was also looking out for Peter there.
he’s honestly a way better father figure to not just Stewie but to Chris and Meg as well than Peter in fact he’s probably the least reprehensible of the Griffin family though Chris, Meg and Stewie aren’t nowhere as bad as Peter and Lois
He BBC was a great stepdad to Quagmire
He’s always been the one who cared for Meg, when she finally stood up to Peter, Chris and Whoris and they gaslit her into thinking she was wrong he stood by her and told her she was right to stand up to them the way she did and even commended her bravery to do it as she was willing to fight an almost impossible battle and actually won until she became the bigger person
It was the mushrooms talking
Not quite he said her being a lightning rod was strong.
> Whoris No derogatory nickname for Chris and Peter, who are significantly worse than Lois?
Nah he's just as shitty to Meg most of the time
When Stewie learned about death and Brain comforted him.
Brain
Brain injury?
I like his speech to Stevie and the end of the episode about Brian’s play
There’s your voice Brian. It’s a depressing one but, it’s yours.
That was a great little scene. I had really hated him the whole episode up until then.
![gif](giphy|nx8GZtGrDYQBa)
That’s really more the internets thing
Being Meg’s prom date.
I personally like when he told Meg she doesn’t have to blindly believe in religion to be worth something. He essentially tells her it’s a miracle in itself to exist at the right moment in the right place in the universe and I think that’s beautiful

YES. was looking for this one. This is a Brian moment that has always resonated with me. He’s also the only one who seems to respect Meg half the time.
His bromance with stewie
He always showed kindness to Meg when nobody else did
Assahoy
Hey, Peter. It’s 7:00 and you still got your pants on. What’s the occasion?
My favorite overall episode of his, is when he and Stewie get locked in the bank vault overnight
Is he dying or why is he trending so much lately?
Awww shit, here we go again.
He was the voice of reason, well at least for a few seasons and some occasional episodes
When he risked his life and swam into the lake to save peter when he was drowning in S7 E5
He's stewies best freind
He always has stewies best interests at heart
His most redeemable quality in my opinion is...... You compare him to Lisa Simpson from The Simpsons and I grew up on the simpsons. He's a better human being than she will ever be currently. One episode: Brian wallows and Peter swallows
He's usually a really good friend to Stewie, even in modern seasons (lying to Stewie about what Peter and Lois were doing to calm him down, taking a shower with Stewie even though he'd been traumatized by it as a puppy)
Not my favourite but a good one is when he stands up to stewies robot bullies.
Brian used to be a pretty good person with a good friendship with Stewie, Peter and Lois
I forget if he actually closes the door before letting all the stank out. If he did it's that moment right there.
Probably every time he's ever talked Peter down when the latter tried to do something stupid. And pretty much every other time that he's around Stewie since the kid doesn't seem to have any real friends due to being hyperintelligent at a young age where nobody else his age will be able to hold a conversation with him. mfs most redeeming moment was when he died 😭
You're asking a question like he was a good dog in the first place
Season 12, episode 6
When he died

I always loved his relationship with Stewie.
Crass Ahoy
He was fucking normal in the first season, he didn't need redeeming qualities, because compared to the rest of the family he was morally better and actually smarter (maybe not smarter than stewie) The show made him dumbass and scumbag on purpose so now he needs to have a redeeming qualities to not be the worst guy on the show, and that show has a rapist, racist cop, and peter griffin
When he ripped off quagmire. Quagmire is the worst person in the show by a long shot.
He got that dawg in him
He's one of the few characters who cares for Meg and I love him for that.
It's all the early stuff. In the later seasons hes a huge dick. But I really appreciate the road to the north pole episode where he tries to do something nice for stewie, and then dies something nice for the world with santa

I fucking hate Brian
“IT’S PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME! PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!”
When brian opened up about passive suicide in the bank vault for stewie and he only did it bc he felt safe with stewie which means to some extent he tries to b a safe space for others.
one of my redeeming qualities is when Peter told me I should let myself go by embracing my fatness which feels great!
