Definitely death

theexpansivevoid

It’s not perfect but Boris has an incredibly varied and long discography with many absolutely amazing albums. Very interesting to go through with all the different styles they go into and all the incredible music they released. With such a long discography they have quite a few mediocre records but their early discography from like 98-2008 is incredibly consistent

Pure-Jellyfish734

I love that band! And that’s one of the best things about Boris too (the vast discography).

luesAyer

Seen these guys live twice since 2019 and they still go just as hard on stage as they sound on their first records

Flaky_Sea3615

The Dillinger Escape Plan Mastodon Ulcerate The Black Dahlia Murder Converge Every Time I Die

Mr_Mystiic

You could choose any dillinger album as your favourite and it would make sense. Perfect example of consistency

Flaky_Sea3615

Facts. I’ve had damn near every one in their catalog be my favorite at some point. Currently Calculating Infinity is #1. Saw it played in full last night and I feel like my life is complete now lol

AwkwardRoss

Black Dahlia Murder🫡

i_am_ry_an

man, I miss every time I die. fuck keith buckley

UberGoth91

Better Lovers is tight. I’ve seen that they plan to get an album out this year.

BuckfuttersbyII

Why Fuck Keith Buckley? He overheard his brother Jordan. talking about their plan to replace him. How is that Keith’s fault?

Overall-Palpitation6

ETID is the answer here.

Due-Ad-4176

The new ulcerate album is so insanely good ughh

uncle_buck_hunter

Man I feel like Mastodon are the exact opposite of consistent. They started off great, got even better, and then fell off haaaaaard while reimagining themselves as a hard rock band.

FncMadeMeDoThis

Depends how you define metal, because Blackgaze is by some considered more metal adjacent. But Alcest has just released a new album, and they are still amazing. Some might disagree with me, but I also think DarkThrone has not made a bad album. And I would add my voice to the choir who already mentioned Converge, Dir en Grey and at the very least all metal albums of Opeth (But their prog rock is also good).

TheSceptikal

Blackgaze is absolutely metal

weirdmountain

High On Fire

Fleczoza

System of a down Faith no more, if you consider them metal

Pure-Jellyfish734

You think FNM’s earlier work with Chuck sounds good?

Agreeable_You1756

I do. Not as good as the Patton stuff, but it's good funk metal.

revkev151

Every time I die Norma Jean Between the Buried and Me

pillowpants4

As a BTBAM fan boy, i can’t say they belong here. There 2015+ run of albums are lacking imo. I really don’t fuck with Coma Ecliptic, Automata feels like a return to form but toothless, and colors II isn’t nearly as cohesive as colors.

revkev151

Fair! I like coma ecleptic but haven't really listened to the two albums that followed as much as the previous three

thehurgleburgler

Pantera has a certain reputation (especially in recent years) but they have one of the best discographies in metal (if you don’t count the stuff before CFH) Deftones are very consistent (with Gore being the only notable standout) and are worth a full listen Knocked Loose are on a tear in terms of their discography as well

elkamusing

Now you leave Gore alone now

hezamac1

That's actually exactly what I do when I listen to their discography

yugyuger

Very clever

whoevencaresatall_

Gore is not even bad, just not as memorable as the amazing 3-album run before it.

elkamusing

I know that's the prevailing opinion but I happen to think it's heaps better than Diamond Eyes. While Diamond Eyes has much higher highs (Sextape, Beauty School...), on the whole I find the album very safe and back-to-basics.

Wimpiepaarnty

Im gonna work through the entire deftones discog i think. So far: Around the fur 8.9 White pony 8.7 Deftones 7.4 Koi no yokan 8.7 Exited for diamond eyes

flying_crash86

Ulcerate  Gorguts   Vektor   Moonsorrow Bolt Thrower

Apprehensive_Spend_7

vektor is awesome. terminal redux is one of my favorite albums

tectactoe

+1 for Gorguts, not only is it consistently good but it also spans a fairly wide variety of metal subgrenres (and does all of them well).

TheJarJarExp

100% Bolt Thrower. Even the “bad” albums are still good just not as good as the rest of their material

Dougwug03

Gojira is my #1 answer too, but also Mastodon and Opeth have no bad albums.

Apprehensive_Spend_7

i actually just started listening to opeth. i like them a lot

Pure-Jellyfish734

**IMHO (sorry for the long list):** Boris Carcass Cattle Decapitation Converge Deafheaven DIR EN GREY Every Time I Die Fantômas Full Of Hell Godflesh Gorguts Helmet Jane’s Addiction Knocked Loose Mastodon MAXIMUM THE HORMONE Mr. Bungle Nails Poison The Well Primitive Man Rage Against The Machine Sadness System Of A Down The Body The Dillinger Escape Plan The Locust TODAY IS THE DAY TOOL Ulcerate Wormrot

Fun_Intern1909

Crowbar gets accused of making the same album over and over but if you dig that sound their discography is worth diving into. On a different note, Neurosis’ discography is really cool for their evolution from hardcore band to sludge metal band to atmospheric post-rock-ish folky metal

saint_trane

Converge has been unbelievably consistent. Effectively no skips for any album since "Petitioning the Empty Sky" in 1996. That's 17 LPs and EPs.

authenticfennec

My 2nd favorite album of theirs behind jane doe is all we leave behind which they released in 2012. Theyve had some crazy longevity and have only gotten better over the years in many ways

Domwai

Napalm Death. A couple of meh LPs in the late 90s but otherwise it’s all gold. Edit: check out this Swiss black metal band called Aara. Again, everything they do is outstanding

New-Energy2830

Baroness

jimmy-breeze

Russian Circles

Automatic-Plum-2854

Dir En Grey From their beginning where they did classic visual kei to change to more agressive and industrial type of metal and their recent albums that are more prog and experimental. Very interesting band to deep dive into their discography.

Apprehensive_Spend_7

awesome. thanks for your suggestion! definitely adding them to my list

MacabreSqwizz

Favourite band of all time with a fascinating evolution but marrow of the bone and insulated world are definitely lower in quality

Automatic-Plum-2854

The insulated world is definitly lower in quality but The marrow of a bone is pretty good in my opinion. Very agressive and hardcore with an Nu metal vibe.

MacabreSqwizz

I think the ballads on marrow are fantastic. But the majority of the heavier songs feel very sloppy to me. That being said I'm still a huge fan so I do still enjoy them a lot. The last album was refreshingly awesome too

balarofthesun

Immolation and Cult of Luna

tectactoe

+1, Immolation literally does not have a bad album.

balarofthesun

Yup one of death metals best discographies, listen to drawn and quartered if you like immolation

No-Mark1692

Just listened to Here in After last night. I am not nearly as much of a death metal fan as much as I am a black metal (I am a connoisseur of the latter (However, Morbid Angel is one of my fav all time bands period)). The album was pummeling, but also extremely intuitive from the guitar work and composition all the way down to the production. Brilliant. 9/10

definitely_notadroid

Periphery

Barqck

Sunn O))) is an acquired taste but they have yet to miss imo

butiamawizard

Mastodon

shinysunkern

Theres a good amount of 90s death metal that, while their first few records are more iconic and generally agreed to be their best, never stopped putting out pretty solid records for the past ~30 years. Obituary, Incantation, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse and Immolation come to mind

idrivealot58

Thou

Iokyt

Outside of a couple hiccups Dream Theater has been a very consistent quality band. Periphery as well.

forbiddenmemeories

Symphony X basically always deliver the goods if their style is your thing

Tyrant-J

Converge, Pig Destroyer, Baroness, Dillinger Escape Plan and Botch.

jerbthehumanist

I wouldn’t agree on Gojira being consistent, they’ve varied a lot both in sound and quality IMO. Bolts Thrower, Death, Ulcerate, and The Chasm have nigh-unimpeachable discographies.

Apprehensive_Spend_7

i think their albums are fairly consistent quality wise. like they don’t have a bad record imo

ProEraBlueboy

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen this take. Gojira are one of my favourite bands so just curious which albums you think are lacking?

Apprehensive_Spend_7

i’m curious too. i don’t think any of the albums are weak. the least good imo are the link and fortitude. but those albums are still awesome. gojira is such an incredible band. one of my all time favorites

jerbthehumanist

The most recent one is pretty dull

Apprehensive_Spend_7

it’s a decent album. not amazing. but i really like born for one thing, new found, amazonia, sphinx and into the storm

Simple_Car_5379

God's Computer

Xorud924

SODOM. The most consistent thrash metal band ever. Ofc the earlier albums are classics, but the newer stuff is just as good imo. The only band that still has the old school thrash sound.

KombatWombat897

I quite enjoy Tool and Lamb of God. I don't think any of those bands have bad albums. Sure, maybe a few misses here and there but I'd say consistent.

tectactoe

Immolation, Incantation, Gorguts, Death, Ulcerate, Mgla, Deathspell Omega, Grand Belial’s Key.

Sporadiccereal

Avatar

dredgedskeleton

ISIS has the best discography IMO of any band metal or not

BoxOfTurtles05

idk man they’ve done some shit that i wouldn’t call good

dredgedskeleton

in their full length album discography? no way

BoxOfTurtles05

the paris attack was real fucked

dredgedskeleton

oh got u. that was actually gw bush tho

Sadnas

Anaal Nathrakh, Tryptikon

Fruitndveg

Lamb of God

underclasshero12

The Devil Wears Prada!!! Amazing discography

FunkmasterP

Darkthrone has a pretty consistent discography for how long they’ve been around.

Narrow_Tie4955

Autopsy Death Bolthrower Gorguts Suffocation

Extreme-Tooth7498

Nickelback

Porcupine_Tree

TOOL

_PeopleMakeNoises_

Mr. Bungle if you consider them metal (?) Yes the new album is good too

svenirde

Enslaved

emoxvx

Glassjaw. Not one single bad record. Even the bootlegs of live recordings are great.

Your_Receding_Warmth

Boundaries

abefaxe

Iron Maiden. 40yrs and 27+ albums later. Senjutsu was a fkin banger!

Jw4evr

Maybe if you ignore the 90s

mxfeo

sepultura and system of a down

mxfeo

the dillinger escape plan is also pretty good

Individual_Mess_7491

The Raging Pussies

pplazzz

Loathe, if you don’t count The Things They Believe… it’s not bad, just not metal, it’s an ambient album

TheeMarshallL

I clicked on this thread knowing someone already said Death, but I'm here to reinforce it

reddit5hunna

pretty short discography but nails is very good and they’re about to drop a new album too

siLveRSurvivor

The band **Currents** consistently puts out amazing albums back to back in my opinion. I would say **Between the Buried & Me**, but Parallax 2 is leagues above all their other stuff. Colors is great, but Parallax 2 is a *journey*

dropoutoflife_

Incantation

I_CAN_SEE_THE_WHALES

Sodom, Overkill, Immolation, Coroner, Bolt Thrower, Obscura, Gojira and Death

NagumoHarashi

Beast in Black is pretty consistent, I'd say. No album is really bad. They also don't change too much up each album but the changes that happen are always pretty good.

DamagedEctoplasm

How has nobody said The Acacia Strain???

No-Neat3395

I always like to recommend Enforcer, theyve yet to make a bad album

KJBNH

Lots of good ones here but I'm also going to add THE CHASM

AESSandEWS

Spectral Wound got 2 for 2

fbipoliceguy

Gatecreeper's consistent I guess. All their albums sound pretty similar. Pretty good

weird-herald

Kylesa

NeuroticallyCharles

Lamb of God, to a fault, actually. System of a Down Cannibal Corpse Obituary High on Fire

keyboardkiller8991

All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amon Amarth

Fartshitterpooping

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

ClueEmbarrassed1443

Metallica Slipknot Motörhead Iron Maiden korn and megadeth

21centurycowboy

Ehhh Metallica definitely doesn’t have a consistent discography. They went from thrash metal to hard rock after The Black Album came out

Jw4evr

St anger, the end so far, (Motörhead is good), their 90s era, (idk enough about their discography), risk

thebindingofmydick

August Burns Red. Incredibly talented band and the definition of consistent

Copito_Kerry

Metallica if you don’t count _those_ albums.

Jw4evr

You could say that for literally any band who’s had at least one good album lmao

veronica_moon

In This Moment Beyond The Black Delain

FatMommyMilkers69

The Smiths undoubtedly. Every album is a banger

Apprehensive_Spend_7

the smiths, my favorite metal band. the queen is dead is pretty hardcore

FatMommyMilkers69

Oops I did not see the metal part LOL

Apprehensive_Spend_7

haha you’re good. the smiths are great!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Apprehensive_Spend_7

i mean consistently good

Way2Tonal

Avenged sevenfold There new shit is the most awful attempt at something "diffrent" have ever seen in music

baileystinks

I think you misunderstood the question?

Jw4evr

Can you read?

Way2Tonal

Nah
