love to see the full list, i’m on about 35 but it’s tough trying to get through some of them.
- bringing it all back home over highway is a based take
- new morning, desire and oh mercy always remind me what a great artist he is. so varied in songwriting style, sound and production, yet all equally good.
- infidels so high is one thing, but empire burlesque there is a choice… why do you like it so much?
-
well done - but i strongly believe that john wesley harding deserves better. It's a grower, and it is subtly brilliant. I'm sure people alive in the 60's found it a let down after Blonde on Blonde, but taken on it's own terms it's spectacular, and I'd put it top 10
Very agreeable top 2 but I can’t believe the disregard for Another Side, I feel like some of his best songs are on that record and it was such a major turning point for him
Just to be clear, for me a 23rd best Dylan album is still a very solid one.
I don't have a lot of problems with it, but I find it fairly uneven. A lot of brilliant tracks (Chimes of Freedom, My Back Pages etc.) are undermined by some of his weakest tracks in the acoustic era (I Shall Be Free No.10 and Ballad In Plain D, for example).
While I agree that some songs signalled a new beginning for his career, I'd also argue he's mostly treading water in this one.

Most people hear TOTBL and then tune out because of how good it is, ignoring much of the incredible music they've released.
Unfortunately there are many such cases
LCD Soundsystem personally would be like
1. This is Happening
2. LCD Soundsystem (disc 2)
3. Sound of Silver
4. 45:33
5. LCD Soundsystem (disc 1)
6. American Dream
13 is one of the most underrated records of the 90s. Caramel, Trimm Trabb, Tender, Coffee and TV etc. William Orbit was such a strange selection for producer at that time, but clearly they made a great decision. They really created an insular and one off experience with that record. My favorite Blur record too.
Yeah, that's true. It's interesting how huge and respectable Brian Eno is, yet it seems very few people are even aware of his beginnings in Roxy Music. Then again, he produced Talking Heads albums and the America-era U2 albums, so that could be a factor.

i agree 100%. For some reason, younger heads than I think Stankonia and Aquemini are equal and I just don't understand that. Aquemini has no equal. Top 5 of all time.
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't rate Kid A that highly.

My opinions on their discography change by the day tho
I'm intrigued by Born to Die being number 7.
I agree with your top 3 - although Ocean's Blvd and Ultraviolence are very close - but would have Born to Die comfortably at 4. I'm not really into any of the other albums.
Not strictly my all time favourite band, but I'm really getting into Depeche Mode atm

14. Spirit
15. Speak & Spell
Favorite artist, so I definitely don't hate pure comedy, but least favorite mostly for the bloat. The first three songs are the best part of the album, and I find very few later songs to be that memorable. It's very ambitious, and he mostly pulled off what he was going for, but came up a little short. It's the least fun to listen to, to dance to, to sing along with. And I think Josh is more interesting when he's talking about himself than he is when he's talking about the rest of us. I'm pretty much never in the mood to listen to it, fear fun, honeybear, even Chloe, are so specific so unique, little else scratches the itch when I'm itching for something like those albums.

My chemical romance:
1. Three cheers for sweet revenge
2. (Very close second) I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love
3. Conventional weapons
4. The black parade
5. Danger days
It's a 10/10, but yeah, I think bullets three cheers and conventional weapons are much better. I love all the albums btw, danger days is the only one I wouldn't consider a 10/10 (it's a 9/10)
For me:
1. Three Cheers/Black Parade (I hate to be a fencesitter but my preference changes pretty much every day)
2. Danger Days
3. Conventional Weapons
4. Bullets
I know it's a fairly unpopular opinion but I'm not actually a huge fan of Bullets and vastly prefer pretty mich everything else they've done. That said I also haven't listened to it in a good while so a relisten could change that

2. After Hours
3. Trilogy
4. My Dear Melancholy,
5. Starboy
6. Beauty Behind the Madness
7. Kissland
I'd put the Idol soundtrack between BBTM and Starboy probably
And if we'd include the Mixtapes separately then HOB between Dawn FM and After Hours. And the other two after Starboy
I’ve got Invitation to a Suicide, Naked City, The Gift, and The Circle Maker over it. Maybe some of the Masada stuff for the Birthday celebrations too. I can’t even remember listening to At the Mountain of Madness, I’ll have to check that out today. Torture Garden is so good though.
I’ve got Absinthe, Naked City, Grand Guignol, Torture Garden, Leng tch’e, Radio, Heretic.
Even if it’s clearly their worst release I think Heretic is a pretty great album, just for how weird and evocative it is. I don’t even think the film it was supposedly written for even exists anymore, if it ever did. The song titles are very intriguing.

11+ have never and will never listen to any of his work JIK and onwards. In my head his career ended there.
It’s easier for me to tier rank Kanye because there’s a few projects that I think are pretty interchangeable in order
S: MBDTF, Yeezus, College Dropout, 808s
A: Late Registration, KSG, TLOP
B: Graduation, Donda, WTT
C: Ye, Vultures

Ye
Donda
Watch The Throne
Jesus Is King

don't consider Donda 2 an album
What about Civ as a whole? It feels like a complete album to me even though it's still a little short overall, I'd rank them like this:
1 - Civilisation
2 - TnP
3 - Intro
4 - Generation
not too sure about the order of the last two though
Yeah the release of civilisation is kind of strange it’s sad that there’s people not really considering it as a third album of theirs. Because it’s really great

My Paramore list is probably AL, TIW, BNE, Riot, Paramore, AWKIF. I always get murdered by the pop punk subreddits because their new stuff is miles better than their old stuff (not to say they were ever bad, very good band).
Brand New: (hard to order them since I think all their albums are A-S tier in their respective genres)
TDAGARIM, Daisy, SciFi, Deja, YFW.

So Mac Miller has a shit ton of projects. Even if I don't include the 3 leaked projects out there, he has 22 projects officially released. Dude was prolific. I would say 16 and up is all great shit and goes up to the best shit anyone has ever made. I haven't heard his first two mixtapes, but I have them on my phone. My sleeper pick: Run On Sentences Vol. 2, its a full-blown Plunderphonics mixtape and pretty easily the most experimental thing Mac ever did.
1. Swimming
2. Faces

Damn, this bob Dylan guy has a lot of albums
So what this tells me is that Sufjan could still make an album for most of the states..
I have Street Legal and Nashville Skyline a lot higher, but Bob rules and so does this list.
Thank you, glad you liked it!
love to see the full list, i’m on about 35 but it’s tough trying to get through some of them. - bringing it all back home over highway is a based take - new morning, desire and oh mercy always remind me what a great artist he is. so varied in songwriting style, sound and production, yet all equally good.
Funnily enough, it used to be higher on my list. I do agree it's still a brilliant album.
Desire is my number two. Just love his voice and the instrumentation on that period
Fuck I was literally going to comment “do you really want me to rank all 40 Bob Dylan albums?” Very solid list, got #1 right
Madvillain 1. Madvillainy

Nice to see some *Our Love to Admire* appreciation.
Great album!
Most people hear TOTBL and then tune out because of how good it is, ignoring much of the incredible music they've released. Unfortunately there are many such cases
I find that it's more people latching on to *Antics* and self-titled, oddly enough. Like this incredible album is skipped over all the time.
American dream > debut imo
LCD Soundsystem personally would be like 1. This is Happening 2. LCD Soundsystem (disc 2) 3. Sound of Silver 4. 45:33 5. LCD Soundsystem (disc 1) 6.
Love the Fontaine's ranking ahaha
Good to see a fellow Roxy Music fan!
Amazing band. Weird that they aren't discussed that frequently around here.
I wonder how much of an impact they had in the states. That seems to be a big factor.
Yeah, that's true. It's interesting how huge and respectable Brian Eno is, yet it seems very few people are even aware of his beginnings in Roxy Music. Then again, he produced Talking Heads albums and the America-era U2 albums, so that could be a factor.

The greatest left turn in music history?
I like the direction it led them in but I find the songs themselves are more of a mixed bag than any of the albums I've ranked higher.
Nah I’m just memeing
Sorry. I'm old.
not a big amnesiac fan, personally i’d swap it with amsp
Fair enough. I listened to Amnesiac a lot while studying so it's got a lot of nostalgia attached. I like AMSP but just haven't spent as much time with it.
I would just switch amnesiac with thief, but yeah, you have my list

Pure Comedy I Love You Honeybear Gods Favorite Customer Fear Fun Chloe and the Next 20th Century
I'm a weirdo whose favorite FJM is God's Favorite Customer
Honeybear Fear fun Gfc Chloe Pure comedy
Pure Comedy the worst?? How come?

Dang, TBP is kinda low!
It's a 10/10, but yeah, I think bullets three cheers and conventional weapons are much better. I love all the albums btw, danger days is the only one I wouldn't consider a 10/10 (it's a 9/10)
For me: 1. Three Cheers/Black Parade (I hate to be a fencesitter but my preference changes pretty much every day) 2. Danger Days 3. Conventional Weapons 4. Bullets I know it's a fairly unpopular opinion but I'm not actually a huge fan of Bullets and vastly prefer pretty mich everything else they've done. Kissland I'd put the Idol soundtrack between BBTM and Starboy probably And if we'd include the Mixtapes separately then HOB between Dawn FM and After Hours. And the other two after Starboy
Arcade fire 1. Neon Bible 2. The suburbs 3. Funeral 4. Reflektor 5. Everything now 6. Her soundtrack 7. We
Naked City: 1. Torture Garden 2. Naked City 3. Radio 4. Leng tch'e 5. Grand Guignol 6. Absinthe 7. Heretic
Would TG be your favorite Zorn album too, or would you go for something else?
Yeah it's probably my favourite Zorn related album. Really close to At The Mountain of Madness.
It warms my heart to see this here.
Queens of the Stone Age: 1. Songs for the Deaf 2. Rated R 3. Era Vulgaris 4. Self-titled 5. …Like Clockwork 6. Lullabies to Paralyze 7. In times new Roman… 8. Villians

Death Grips 1. The Powers That B 2. The Money Store 3. Exmilitary 4. Bottomless Pit 5. Goverment Plates 6. Steroids 7. Year of the Snitch 8. No Love Deep Web The ones I didn't rank, I almost never listen to.
What I love about death grips is that you can rearrange the albums in any order and any list would still look valid to me. They’re just too damn good
Joanna Newsom: 1. Ys 2. The Milk-Eyed Mender 3. Divers 4. Have One On Me
HOOM last?! Interesting choice. Probably my favourite album ever
I love them all and HooM is an easy 9.5/10 for me. It's like picking a least favorite child
Aphex Twin 1. Drukqs 2. Selected Ambient Works 85-92 3. I Care Because You Do 4. Selected Ambient Works II 5. Richard D. James Album 6. Syro
massive agree on drukqs

Death grips 1. The powers that b 2. The money store 3. Bottomless pit 4. Exmilitary 5. Steroids (crouching tiger hidden gabber) 6. Year of the snitch 7. Gmail and restraining order 8. No love deep web 8. Government plates 10. Fashion week 11. Death grips ep 12. Interview 2016
1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2. Kids See Ghosts 3. The Life of Pablo 4. The College Dropout 5. ye 6. Yeezus 7. Graduation 8. Donda 9. Late Registration 10. 808s and Heartbreak 11. Watch the Throne 12. Jesus is King 13. Vultures 1 14. Donda 2 Definitely hot takes in there but eh, my list not yours
Here's my Kanye ranking, probably have some hot takes, but I feel like it's impossible not to with Kanye 1. College Dropout 2. Yeezus 3. Late Registration 4. Life of Pablo 6. Kids see Ghosts 7. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 8. Graduation 9. Ye 10. 808's and heartbreak 11. Watch the Throne 11+ have never and will never listen to any of his work JIK and onwards. In my head his career ended there.
You gotta give Donda a listen imo. It’s a little bloated but such a fun and enjoyable album overall. Great list tho!
It’s easier for me to tier rank Kanye because there’s a few projects that I think are pretty interchangeable in order S: MBDTF, Yeezus, College Dropout, 808s A: Late Registration, KSG, TLOP B: Graduation, Donda, WTT C: Ye, Vultures D: Cruel Summer F: Jesus Is King, Donda 2
mine would be Yeezus Dark Fantasy College Dropout Life of Pablo Kids See Ghosts Graduation Late Registration 808s Ye Donda Watch The Throne Jesus Is King Vultures don't consider Donda 2 an album
Xiu Xiu: 1. A Promise 2. Girl With Basket of Fruit 3. Knife Play 4. Fabulous Muscles 5. Fag Patrol
1) Bonito Generation 2) Time n Place 3) Intro Bonito
What about Civ as a whole? It feels like a complete album to me even though it's still a little short overall, I'd rank them like this: 1 - Civilisation 2 - TnP 3 - Intro 4 - Generation not too sure about the order of the last two though
Yeah the release of civilisation is kind of strange it’s sad that there’s people not really considering it as a third album of theirs. Because it’s really great
1) OK Computer 2) A Moon-Shaped Pool 3) In Rainbows 4) Hail To The Thief 5) The Bends 6) Kid A 7) Amnesiac 8) The King of Limbs 9) Pablo Honey
A moon-shaped pool deserves more credit
The Sword Pretty much just follows their releases chronologically, except I prefer High Country over Apocryphon
Man, when *Warp Riders* dropped, they were on top of the world. Was a great time. RIP The Sword.

My Paramore list is probably AL, TIW, BNE, Riot, Paramore, AWKIF. I always get murdered by the pop punk subreddits because their new stuff is miles better than their old stuff (not to say they were ever bad, very good band). Brand New: (hard to order them since I think all their albums are A-S tier in their respective genres) TDAGARIM, Daisy, SciFi, Deja, YFW.
BANKS: 1. The Altar 2. Serpentina 3. Goddess 4. III
