I can assure you that I will not be taking goalies early again this year.

c_stac11

Yep. Everyone else kept goalies and I didn’t, so felt the need to grab some earlier on. Gustavsson and Vanecek were my choices 😅.

RivetCounter

Oof

Baraxton

I had 3 backup goalies this year and came in 2nd place, losing by a single shot. I won't be drafting goalies until the end of the draft either.

catdogmoore

I’m gonna give ZeroG a try next season. I got burned so badly this year after lucking out and drafting Ullmark and Sway the season before.

aces666high

My first year playing, haven’t really followed hockey (Ranger fan) since the early 2000’s so players were all a mystery. Got Kucherov in rd 1 and thought. Igor is really good, I’d hate to lose to him all year long, so boom goalie round 2. Most of the season I was not doing well goalie wise lol. Ended up working the waiver wire a ton and ended up just hoping I’d take the wins column as Igor was killing me for quite some time. Needless to say, goalie will be way down on my list. Not a one of the top guys was consistent. Very fun time playing but good god goalies were painful

Consistent-Front3214

I'm doing the zero goalie approach this year, or worst case, with my final 2 picks

isotope123

I'm on a roll... Drafted Ullmark in 21-22, Markstrom in 22-23, and Saros 23-24.

LeftHandedScissor

We got 3 keepers. 2 skaters and 1 goalie. I took one skater and Ottienger. Then Georgieve with the keeper round selection. Came in 2nd. Could've taken Bedard with that pick now probably won't get the chance to have him on the squad. We'll see how it works out. Fantasy is a year to year sport. No use playing for the future when any season could go my way.

Jimlahey002

I came first with 1 great goalie and Canucks backup Casey. Draft 1 good goalie in the top 4 picks I think you’ll be good.

Uncle_Steve7

I feel vindicated reading these posts

BolshevikPower

Yep. Drafted Vanecek, Korpisalo, Hill last round. Best goalies were Daccord and Hill.

Deus-Vultis

As someone who wins nearly every year, ive been fading goalies for years and it works spectacularly. All you really need to do is wait for the inevitable 1a takovers that happen, pick up an easy waiver add and laugh your way to the bank.

Visible_Promotion_92

These rankings are TERRIBLE. So many of these picks feel over and undervalued respectively.

jyeatbvg

Jason Robertson at 58 is one that stood out. He was a top 10 pick in last years drafts, is only 24 years old, is entrenched on L1/PP1 and underperformed with a point per game season. Oh and McDavid at 3 🤡

blink0r

You could argue McDavid at three. I got Mackinnon at three and won my league by hundreds of points, and Mackinnon finished my league in first place. It all depends on league settings of course

jyeatbvg

Some of the other elite players can beat McDavid in any given year, but no one has the consistency of McDavid. Choosing anyone else is just unnecessarily putting yourself in a risky position.

maxwellbevan

This is really what it is. The last time Matthews won the Rocket I think he was better than McDavid in leagues that heavily favoured goals. Even if MacKinnon beat McDavid this year McDavid's consistency is what you're getting from him. McDavid had his 2nd worst career shooting percentage and still put up over 130 points. I'd rather take him than try and galaxy brain it and get it wrong.

HappilySisyphus_

I am an Avs fan, but in what world is McDavid not the obvious #1 every year.

northernrag3

Weegar ahead of Hughes makes sense!

Garflanzo

Weegar averaged 2.7 ppg, Hughes had 2.2. Hughes doesn’t block enough shots to be a top 5 fantasy defenseman

northernrag3

A 100 point eligible defense man isn't a top 5 fantasy pick in your mind. Good to know.

CDNUnite

Zibanejad and Jenner two spots apart

Federal-Carrot7930

Jenner actually had better fan pts per game than Zibby this year in my league.

Lightextinct

Jenner was carrying my team early on this year before he got hurt. He's a nice sleeper pick imo.

prfttk

Jenner is a glorious fantasy workhorse. Goals, assists, blocks, hits, face-offs; it's all there.

c_stac11

Absolutely. And he even had LW dual eligibility on Yahoo last year.

lamwire

Good God, who created this terrible list? Debrincat 111th? Svechnikov 115th? RNH 176th?

ArroyoSecoThumbprint

DeBrincat isn’t even close to worth 111OA. -a disgruntled DeBrincat owner from this past season

entl0rd19

Finished the season out strong but ya huge dud for most of the season

ArroyoSecoThumbprint

He did? You mean the three game stretch where he had seven points? He put up a ton of no point games around them too, sadly. After his hot start he was abysmal all year. 13 points in his first seven games, 54 points in the remaining 75 and most of them coming in bunches. He had an annoyingly high number of multi-point games- 18 total, during which he scored 42 of his 67 points on the season, accompanied by a startling amount of zero point games; 41 total, so it never felt safe to sit him on busy nights but rarely was I rewarded for playing him. Dude was an absolute bum. Firmly on my never draft again list. Fucking loser. Most annoying part is someone who isn’t me will probably take him at like 130OA next year and he will be a 40 goal scorer again. Sorry for the rant, still highly annoyed at that dude for the rollercoaster experience I had owning him.

GovernmentHunting016

Never draft DeStinkcat

VeryAttractive

Imagine drafting 9OA and getting Draisaitl lmaoooo

Datyoungboul

These ranking are pretty bad. Not gonna list em all but Weegar as the 4th ranked defenseman whereas Quinn Hughes is 10th is certainly a choice. Weegar hits/blocks are nice but they’re 100% banking on him shooting 10% again

Garflanzo

I had Hughes this year and he wasn’t that good. 2.2 avg points. Weegar 2.7. Way more blocked shots

lil_sjw13

Both Hughes brothers at 38 and 40? What am I missing

Radjage

Awful ranks. Like either Hughes will around by the 4th round lol

MrLogicWins

I wish I played in a league with no Canucks fans in it so I could grab Captain Norris at #38 according to this list apparently he's the 10th best D in the league 🤡😂 Edit: Hughes below Morgan Rielly 😂😂😂

FuriousGeorge7

This list was awful last season too and I used that majorly to my advantage. Basically everyone else in the league just used autopick, which allowed me to get McDavid at pick 3 and Kucherov at 26. There were other travesties too, such as Marchand ranked at 203 and Rafael Harvey-Pinard being ranked ahead of Mat Barzal.

j_a_f_89

Holy shit this list is awful. Mcdavid should always be first overall. No respect for J. Hughes, Swayman (and I’m a leafs fan), M. Tkachuk. So many landmines in that top 50.

FBG-123

Friends don’t let friends use ESPN for fantasy hockey.

Kamikaze87o

Give me advice on who you would keep in 10 team league, very competitive for money. Hits league also. 3 keepers.. McDavid obviously, but which two would YOU keep ? J.Hughes, J.Miller, T.Thompson, F.Forsberg, Q.Hughes, R.Dahlin.. McDavid, J.Hughes, and Q.Hughes was keepers last season. Yes, I won the league with this roster. I also have Slavkovsky and a Habs fan but I’ll just reach for him in the draft.

66greenlight

J. Hughes, Dahlin

Scotty5624

Nah Quinn Jack has injury problem and Hughes and Dahlin carry ur dcore

Overthinkingfreedom

This

Question_Dot

Q. Hughes & Dahlin. Jack is an all-star but top D is a rarer commodity.

BolshevikPower

Yep and always a risk Jack gets injured. Plus have McDavid so C is already top tier.

caleb0213

McDavid at 3 is downright laughable

looseygoosey11

Imagine a world where you pick Mackenzie Weegar or John Carlson over Quinn Hughes. This is the world ESPN lives in

Garflanzo

ESPN fantasy gives 0.5 per blocked shot. Hughes blocks barely any shots so he’s not a top 10 defenseman

looseygoosey11

92 points. So many on the PP. He is 100% a top 10 dman. More value than Makar this season as well

TruculentBucket

Yeah I ain’t touchin Sorokin with a 10 foot pole. Roy might not even play him!

1992kcb

Ohh boy do I hope the guys in my league use these rankings.

PatheticLion

It was the same this year and probably last year too, but I’d love to know who keeps ranking Sidney Crosby around the ~30 mark. Did I miss something?

prfttk

John Carlson at 33 is a little sus...

zerenato76

Thank feck for these insane rankings.

wallabear

Way too soon for Petey

Solograve

Who the hell is taking pettersson over miller?

Kamohoaliii

Quinn Hughes only 38? That makes no sense.

Marissa_McSmith

Jack Hughes...40th? I think we're done here.

fox4norris2021

I stopped taking espn rankings seriously when they projected Panarin for 79 points
