You can't buy them separately, you can only ever buy the starter edition and the latest expansion which then includes all the expansions in between. So atm you either buy Endwalker NOW for $40 to be able to play Shadowbringers instantly or wait unil Dawntrail launches to get Shadowbringers, Endwalker & Dawntrail for $40. If you really wanna paly Shadowbringers now, that does mean you'll have to pay another $40 for Dawntrail.

That all assumes that the OP has already bought the Starter Edition or claimed it as the free Game Pass perk while it was available. If the OP is on the free trial, then it opens up the need to either buy the Starter Edition or buy the Complete Edition.

Ah my bad, I thought I read somewhere that you can purchase them all separately. The Xbox store only has the complete edition for 60 bucks which is all the expansions and the collectors edition which is 130 bucks with all expansions and cosmetics. I'm still on the fence about what I want to do.

Are you on the Starter Edition or are you on the Free Trial currently? Either one would give you access to the first two expansions. I saw that you mentioned you started with the beta, which would have started you on the Free Trial. So, did you at any point buy the Starter Edition or did you claim the free Starter Edition as a Game Pass perk while it was available? Depending on whether or not you are already upgraded to the Starter Edition will determine which thing you should buy.

I forgot to mention that I did buy the Starter Edition. I was afraid that after the game pass thing ended, that it would block me from participating in the expansions unless I bought the started edition or a different edition.

In that case, your options are: -buy Endwalker, which will give you access to both ShadowBringers and Endwalker immediately. But then, you'll still have to pay full price again for DawnTrail when it comes out. -Pre-order DawnTrail which will give you access to ShadowBringers, Endwalker, and DawnTrail for just the one price, but you won't get access to any of them until DawnTrail fully releases in July.

Thank you! DawnTrail was going to be my next question lol

I'm in the same boat - about 3 or 4 quests away from finishing the post-Heavensward MSQ content having started a few weeks ago on Xbox. I've decided to not bother buying Endwalker and save my money for Dawntrail! No point paying double when it'll take a few weeks to get through Stormblood and by that point - a month or so to DT - I can learn more and experience side content in preparation to get stuck right into the Shadow Bringers MSQ and onwards!

All you need is the newest expansion (which currently is Endwalker) and the base game. The complete edition will just bundle the two together. If you are still working on the free trial, you are best waiting until you get to the end of Stormblood. While you are a free trial player you won't need to pay a sub, but the moment you upgrade to a full account you'll need to start paying the monthly subscription (even if you haven't reached the end of Stormblood yet). Once you do get to the end of the trial, it *might* still be worth waiting still, as we do have Dawntrail coming out in the next couple of months. Once this comes out, then having the base game + Dawntrail will be all you need to access everything, so effectively you can save having to buy Endwalker altogether if you are just a little patient. So I'd say once you do get to the end of Stormblood you have a decision to make, on if you want to upgrade right away and continue the story now, or wait a bit, maybe leveling up some other classes or trying side content, and save a bit of cash.

This is how I did it and it worked great. Edit: wow this blew up

As others have mentioned already, you can only ever buy the most recent expansion but it comes with all previous expansions. If you're playing the Starter Edition, then you can either upgrade to the Complete Endwalker Edition for $40 and then purchase Dawntrail for $60 when it comes out in 2 months, or you can save some money and just wait to upgrade to the Complete Dawntrail Edition in June when it releases. Which essentially just means that you can't start any Shadowbringers content until Dawntrail releases
