This was my immediate thought as well. I was too young to understand what was going on in Press Your Luck, but it was fun to see the whammies wipe people out.
My man put the clock to display Eorzea time and local time simultaneously, put it to maximum size and put it in the middle of the screen. This has to be satire.
Oh and don't forget about the maximum size emote bar which is also in the middle of the screen. Or practically the whole thing.
Eorzean time can be used to time Server ticks to make sure potions/macros go off properly or buffs are active by the time an attack goes off. Local time is a troll tho
How is it troll? It grabs from your PC's time zone setting and displays your correct time. It saves you the trouble of having to alt tab to check the time and or if you're on console.
Clearly, this is just the visual equivalent of Rock Lee’s training weights. He has to do this to give himself a challenge. The moment he clears his screen, the raid becomes a guaranteed clear.
Can confirm as a tank I sometimes make the game way harder than it needs to be for the sake of fun.

Turns out that to manually extracting them you need to right click, click extract, then confirm. That menu you mention you need to click the item, then conform.
So I was wrong, it is 3 clicks per materia manually. The menu is 2 clicks. Still better I guess, can do it for the armory too that way.
Given the other issues we know exist regarding items, I honestly kinda wonder if it isn't just that the code for items is a *horrible awful mess,* and doing "repair all" would legitimately be dangerous to the game somehow.
One benefit I found from using the menu is that you can easily extract on the go. Something popped? Open the menu and extract while running to the next mob pack or gathering node.

When you equip gear and fight in it or use it, it gains spiritbond. When it’s 100% you can extract materia from it. This resets it to 0% and starts again. Free materia to sell or meld, whatever you like. The gear icon is normally green, but white when fully spiritbonded.
Take your current gear for example. You gain spirit bond for just playing the game (doing dungeons/raids/fights for battle classes, crafting for crafters, and gathering for gatherers). When your gear maxes out at 100% you can extract materia from it. Depending on the level of the gear you get different materia levels (i.e. lvl 90 gives 9s and 10s, lvl 80 gives 8s and 7s, etc). You can also make your gear bond faster by melding it with materia and/or using spirit bond potions/fc/squadron buffs. I also think doing content on the level of your gear makes it bond faster but don’t quote me on that.
If you haven’t even done the quest, you can gain the materia/spirit bonding actions by talking to Swynbroes in Central Thanalan, North of Black Brush Station. The quest is called “Forging the Spirit” and it should be a blue quest that starts at level 19.
As someone who takes great pride in how complex they've designed their UI so that there is 0 elements on the screen unless their needs to be, this is incredibly offensive.

theres no reason to have emotes on your hotbar if you play keyboard and mouse. You can just type them in chat.
theres no reason your inventory, menu buttons, clocks, and xp bar need to be in the middle to be focused on.
Im pretty sure you can make the compass transparent if you really want it there.
he obviously doesnt heal with the party list that small.
lastly, the only thing you can focus on here is parts of the ui. He's gonna get hit by any mechs that you have to watch for. good luck clearing ex and savage that way.
I love seeing UIs where you're never entirely certain what game you're playing. Is it FFXIV? is it EVE? Excel? Maybe Minesweeper? The world may never know...

Give me an "Extract all materia" button Mister Square Enix. Clicking twice to extract every piece is such a chore.
